Chapter 30

The gasp that startled everyone had them running in to see Lucy spring up in her bed. Susan was the second there not far from the one person who refused to leave the bedside floor. With a gentle wave the body stood back, allowing Lucy's brothers and sister.

"Lucy," Peter whispered, "are you alright?"

Lucy gazed at the concerned faces around her, contemplating how she felt. "I feel wonderful."

They all looked to one another, doubting her words. "Luc," Susan gently whispered grabbing her hand, "you tried to drowned yourself. That's not wonderful."

Lucy smiled at her siblings, "But I am." Taking a deep breath Lucy tried to explain, "I saw Aslan." At her siblings unbelieved faces her quickly added, "In a dream. I died, and Aslan came to take me away. While he was doing that this... darkness... was pulled out of me. That's the reason I've been... so weird lately. Honest. It wasn't be... this whole dark mood was inserted after the faes."

Lucy went on to explain her ordeal since the Dawn Treader in elaborate details. She knew that all in the room needed to understand the emotional turmoil, as well as the feeling of the Faes. The gaining of her power, the feel of the golden fire coursing through her veins. The sudden feeling of emptiness, of seclusion. The depression of not being able to grasp a single happy thought or memory. The sinking into an abyss. The struggle to reach the surface, to breathe, to feel the light. The yearning for Caspian.

Lucy paused in her description looking around, "Where is Caspian, and Thomas?"

Susan glanced to the empty space once occupied by Caspian."He was here a moment ago. Thomas is searching the castle." Susan looked back to her sister in the bed. "Lucy, what you're describing is—"

"I believe it," Edmund spoke at last, "I'm said it before and I'll say it a hundred times. The last time I didn't believe Lucy, I ended up looking pretty stupid."

"Me too," added Peter. "Between all of us, Lucy, you are the only one who has ever had a true connection to Aslan, to Narnia. The only one who ever really belonged. Caspian—"

"I need to find him." Lucy interrupted as she began to rise from the bed.

Peter leaped to block her path, "Lucy do you think that's wise? After everything you've been through with him?" Lucy nodded as Susan and Edmund joined Peter.

Susan smiled, "Then go to him." She encouraged Lucy with a loving hug.

Before Lucy could ask her most dire question Edmund embraced her, "He's on the beach."

…...

Caspian's feet drug across the sand, his footprint being washed away by the incoming tide. His mind raced. She was safe. She was alive, and she is safe. He could have lost her, he would have lost everything. His insanity was barely hanging on by a thread until she had bolted up. It was his fault, deep down there is this gut wrenching feeling that every bad thing that happened to Lucy, was all because of him.

"Caspian..."

Turning to look at the castle, Caspian saw a small figure running along the beach towards him. His name spilling, like a song, from the lips he crave so much. "Lucy?"
