Note – Hey guys! In case you haven't noticed, I've now bumped up the rating to M. If you've read Slytherin's Potter, then you know that we're not terribly far from the first M Rated scene. But, if you haven't, this is just my moving the rating now rather than later. Also, for those that haven't read the other story, this chapter (especially the end) gives some pretty big hints on what will soon come, and does get just a little bit . . . hotter, so to speak. Anyways, read and enjoy!
Rebel Malfoy
Chapter Thirty-Eight: Results of Family Dinners
"Dammit!"
Scorpius jumped at the pained cry. Sleep continued to fog his mind as he hurried to sit up. He blinked rapidly, his eyes adjusting to the darkness slowly. But he could see Lily's silhouette, her hands on her face.
"What's wrong, baby?" He was concerned, truly. But he was also so tired still that it made him a bit sluggish.
She groaned softly. "I think my nose just healed," she mumbled into her hands. Over the last few days, all of her injuries had begun to heal. The only bruises she had left were from her broken nose, and her nose was all that was . . . or had been broken. She hissed. "Damn that hurt!"
He carefully let his cheek rest on her shoulder, his eyes slowly beginning to close again. "Are you ok though?"
"I'm fine," she grumbled. "I probably won't have to wear that damn mask again."
He yawned. "That's good," he mumbled as he began to lay back down, gently tugging her down with him. "Sleep again," he whispered. Sleep took him again easily.
As December came with a whirlwind of snow, Scorpius found himself a bit preoccupied with many things. First there was Quidditch. So far there hadn't been any news of an official ban, and they had no games until after break. But Lily had finally rejoined the team in practicing, and he was honestly a little worried. But . . . she was good, and he had to trust in that fact. The only reason she'd taken that hit last time was because it was an illegal move and she never would have expected it.
There was also homework and exams. Professors were constantly reminding them of how N.E.W.T.s and graduation was just around the corner, and seemed to pile on more homework for the holidays.
There was Christmas in general, especially concerning his girlfriend. He had yet to actually invite her to Christmas dinner at the manor, and he hadn't even figured out what to get her for a present. Nothing ever sounded good. Lily insisted that a date would be a wonderful gift, but Scorpius felt like if he was going to rely on something he'd already done, then he needed to make it better than the last one.
And weirdly enough one other thing kept him occupied . . . the guys.
"I'm just saying that we feel neglected," Rex insisted as they sat around their dorm room. "We could use some guy time. Time for friends. Without any girlfriends around."
Scorpius rolled his eyes. Rex and Mitch had insisted on night where the five seventh years all hang out, alone. Apparently, they never got the chance to with girls around.
"Lily's your friend too," Scorpius pointed out.
"Yeah, but it's hard to hang out and have fun when you have your tongue down her throat," Justin mocked with a grin.
"Thank you!" Rex agreed. "Just one night away from girls."
"It won't kill us," Mitch assured as he plucked away at his guitar.
Scorpius sighed as he closed the book he'd been reading. "Ok then. What do you want to do?"
Rex grinned. "Talk about girls."
Scorpius rolled his eyes and fell onto his back on the bed as Lars and Mitch laughed. "So we're hanging out without the girls so that we can talk about them? You are an idiot."
Mitch grinned. "He's got a point. Hard to talk honestly about them while they're around," he pointed out.
"Exactly. And let's start with Lars and the lovely Ashley Anderson," Rex replied.
Lars groaned. "I wish there was something to talk about!"
"You mean you two haven't had sex yet?" Justin guessed.
"No! We've barely done more than snogged," Lars grumbled.
"Why not try and push the boundaries just a little?" Mitch suggested.
"I get the feeling she'd break his face," Scorpius commented. They hadn't hung out with Lars's girlfriend a lot since they'd begun dating, but she was obviously a tough girl. One that took no crap from guys.
"That's what I'm afraid of," Lars mentioned. "And my face is too pretty to get all bloody."
They all laughed a little, but Rex nodded. "That's gotta suck! How do you manage?"
"Just because you go and have Ami Waters suck you off in random corners, doesn't mean some of us don't have restraint," Scorpius joked with a smirk.
"At least I'm getting some!" Rex argued. "How many of you here can say the same?"
"I can," Mitch said immediately.
"Dominique is just as likely to rip your heart out though," Lars laughed.
Mitch grinned and shrugged. "At least I'd die having sex. What better way than to go out with a bang?"
They all laughed again.
"What about you, Scor?" Lars asked.
Scorpius raised a brow. "What about me?"
"He means, how are you and our very own princess?" Justin stated.
Scorpius ran his hand through his hair. "We're fine. No problems, no arguments. We're good."
"Because I was totally asking about your feelings," Rex mocked dryly. "Come on, spill it. Last we knew you'd only felt princess up. Any progress?"
Scorpius sighed. "Not really, and I'm fine with that!" he said quickly. "I think we're going at a pretty comfortable pace."
"It takes very little to please you," Rex joked.
Scorpius smirked. "Maybe my girl's just more pleasing than any of the girls you sleep around with these days."
They all laughed, even Rex. "Probably," he agreed.
Scorpius continued to smirk as his chuckles died down. "In all seriousness though, I like where we are, and I don't really want to push her."
"But you think about it?" Mitch guessed.
Scorpius scratched the back of his neck as his face began to feel a little warm. "Well . . . I won't lie and say that I don't," he mumbled.
"Scor, you have one of the hottest girlfriends, who is also a model. No man would blame you for thinking about it," Lars mentioned as he began to dig through a bag of candy.
Scorpius leaned over and grabbed a licorice wand. "It's just distracting that I constantly think about it."
"But it's the best kind of distraction," Rex retorted. "It's how I get through some of my more boring classes."
"That is a surprise to no one," Justin muttered with a grin.
"No need to make it sound like a bad thing," Rex quipped. "I just like enjoying the single life. No strings, no nagging, no girl drama. It has its perks."
"Just the lack of girl drama sounds wonderful," Lars mumbled.
"The only thing I wish I could live without is the occasional fear that she might rip my heart out one day," Mitch joked. He looked at Scorpius. "What about you?"
Scorpius raised a brow. "What?"
"If there was some annoying aspect of being in a relationship you could get rid of, what would it be?" Rex teased. "There's always something."
"Her family?" Scorpius threw out with a chuckle. They laughed in return, but he blew out a sigh. "Honestly, I can't really think of anything I'd change about our relationship. I mean, she doesn't really nag me, the only drama she has is her family, not girl drama, and I like having strings attached."
"You would be a terrible single man," Rex mumbled with a shake of his head. "Don't you ever wish that you could be free? No girlfriend, free to look at whoever you wanted, free to flirt, anything?"
Scorpius shrugged. "Not really. I mean . . . I don't really feel like I'm not free to do what I want. Like you said, I have one of the most attractive girlfriends around. Why would I want to look at anyone else, when they don't compare? And why flirt with someone I'm not attracted to? Being with Lily doesn't really constrict me, you know?"
"Be grateful," Lars retorted. "Not all girlfriends are as cool. You get off easy. Appreciate how lucky you are."
"Trust me. I know how lucky I am to have her."
Scorpius had been telling the truth to the guys that night. He knew he was lucky to have Lily as his girlfriend. And . . . well he did think about sex, sometimes a little too much for his liking. It was distracting, and he didn't want Lily to feel pressured or rushed.
But sometimes it was hard not to think about it. Especially when she dressed in the winter as if it was middle of July!
Scorpius tried. He'd been trying hard not to stare all morning. He was really trying now that he was standing right behind her as they stood in line to board to train home for Christmas break.
"You're staring again."
Scorpius sighed at the sound of Lily's voice. What did she expect? Currently she was dressed in her leather jacket, which fit her snugly. Her hair fell in small curls around her shoulders, a black rose hair clip keeping it from her face. And her legs were bare to the cold air, as she wore a black and very short skirt.
"How are you not freezing in that skirt?" he mumbled, his eyes trailing up her legs to the frilled lace hem, which brushed her thighs.
"I doubt my being cold is the reason you're staring," she mocked lightly, not even turning to look at him.
"That skirt is too short for me not to stare," Scorpius replied as he stepped closer to press his front to her back, wrapping an arm around her.
"It's not that short," Lily argued, leaning into his back.
"That skirt is too damn short for you to wear around anyone but me," he mumbled. He was now slightly distracted by how warm she felt pressed against him.
"It's not that much above my knees," she quipped.
"To me, that's too short, which shows more skin to boys who shouldn't be seeing that much of my girlfriend," Scorpius argued calmly.
Finally she turned her head to look up at him. "Because so many boys are going to openly stare at me when I have you standing right behind me," she teased.
Scorpius smirked. "Only the dumb ones." Then he leaned down to kiss her gently, feeling warm despite the chill in the air.
"Look, not that you being concerned for your girlfriend isn't sweet and all that," Lana commented as she and Scorpius patrolled the train, "but you seem seriously tense about being apart for break."
"It's not the idea of being apart," Scorpius countered. "It's just . . . I'm worried because she's worried."
Lana looked at him with a bit of confusion. "She's worried about being apart?"
He shook his head. "No. Her parents want her and her brothers to sit down and talk once they get home. Obviously, Lily doesn't have high hopes for that working out."
Lana gave a nod of understanding. "Makes sense. But, I don't think you worrying about it with her will accomplish anything," she pointed out.
"I wish there was something else I could do," Scorpius replied. "But, it's not like I can be there with her, especially considering the fact her dad kind of hates me right now."
"Well when it all goes to hell, just be there to comfort her," Lana stated. "She needs your support more than you worrying about her."
"I know, I know," he mumbled. "Can we talk about something else?"
"Fine," Lana agreed. "Is your girlfriend finally joining us for dinner on Christmas?"
Scorpius groaned. "I meant something besides my girlfriend."
"Help me out here. I want to know if we girls will have one more intelligent person to talk to," she mocked.
Scorpius rolled his eyes. "I'm inviting her after we're done patrolling," he assured. "Now, another topic, please?"
"How about my love life?"
"Not that one either," he grumbled.
Now she rolled her eyes. "Fine. What do you want to talk about?"
"Something not depressing, not about my girlfriend, or your . . . love life," he muttered the last part. "Just . . . something else."
Lana just shook her head at him. "Ok, well . . . any plans for Christmas break?"
Scorpius shrugged. "I'm not really sure yet. I mean, outside of Christmas day and a date with Lily, I haven't thought much about it. You?"
"Probably hiding at your flat to avoid my dad and brothers groaning about my dating, and to avoid my mother asking embarrassing questions about my love life," Lana admitted.
Scorpius raised a brow. "I hadn't realized I'd made the offer for you to stay with me," he teased.
Lana just shrugged as she shoved her hands into the pockets on her jacket. "You didn't. And I didn't ask. Doesn't mean you won't let me in when I randomly show up."
Scorpius shook his head, but smirked. "Well that's what brothers are here for."
"You're there to care for your sister?"
"We let them barge into our lives whenever they damn well please."
Lily's lips were warm and soft against his own, as he wrapped his arms around her, resting his palm against the small of her back. He felt her own arms move around his neck, pulling him even closer to her. He nipped her bottom lip, and she parted them, allowing him to brush his tongue against hers. He pulled her even closer, not wanting to part ways just yet.
"Lily Luna Potter, let's go!"
Scorpius almost growled at the sound of her father's voice as she pulled away from him. Lily looked hesitant as she kept her hands on his shoulders. She didn't look ready to leave either. Scorpius could see her family, not far from where they stood with the others on the platform. He could feel the heat from her father's glare.
He sighed as he looked back to her, brushing a bit of hair away from her face. "You'd better get over there before he explodes," he mumbled. Despite his words, he wasn't ready to let her go. Wasn't ready to release her into the lion's den. And not ready to part from her at all.
"Yeah, that would be messy," she muttered, still not letting go of him.
Scorpius smirked as he gave a chuckle. He gave her a squeeze before placing a kiss on her cheek. "Love you, babe," he whispered near her ear.
"Love you too," she murmured. Finally, he let her go, but she didn't move away immediately. He could tell she was trying to stall, at least a little. She looked to the others and said goodbye, until she could no long find a reason not to move toward her family.
Slowly, she walked backwards, locking eyes with him. While she was smiling softly, he could see the uncertainty in her eyes. The desire not leave. And it made him want nothing more than to stop her. To keep her from walking into an uncomfortable situation.
But he didn't do any of that as she turned around to walk forward. He just let her go, because they both knew that stopping her would only make it worse. And that in the end, nothing could stop this from coming eventually.
"She'll be all right," Mitch said, understanding Scorpius's own uncertainty. "Lily Lu's strong. She can handle a couple of kittens."
"It's not them I'm worried about," Scorpius said as he let his eyes move to where both Potter brothers stood with their parents. "It's her parents. She's worried about upsetting and disappointing them, not her brothers."
The others began to drift away with a few goodbyes, but Scorpius had told his parents that he'd just meet them at the manor. But Mitch stayed beside him. "Still, you know that if something bad happens, she'll tell you."
Scorpius shoved his hands into his pockets as he watched Lily disappear with her family. "Yeah," he mumbled with a sigh. "Still, I just wish there was something I could. Something to make her feel better. Something to make this easier on her."
Mitch sighed. "Well, you're taking her on a date, right? That's your Christmas gift to her?"
Scorpius nodded as he turned to look at his friend. "Yeah, why?"
"Then my suggestion is that you do everything you can to make it a day where she forgets all about her problems and her family," Mitch said.
Scorpius raised a brow. "Like what?"
"Take her somewhere that no one would think to look for you. Make sure that you two can't be bothered, even by our friends. No interruptions. Pick a place she would like, make it all about her," Mitch listed. "I've found that pampering a girl makes her forget about everything else."
Scorpius chuckled. "I like to think that I always pamper my girlfriend," he joked.
Mitch grinned. "Exactly. So now you have to outdo yourself. Strive to do better than you did the day before."
Scorpius kept his glare steady and furious as he sat at the dinner table in the manor. He chewed his food slowly, took small sips of the wine in his glass, but never let his glare stray from Lucius. He refused to lose this staring . . . or glaring contest he found himself in. He would not be the first to look away.
"So, Scorpius, how are you enjoying your final year at school?" Narcissa asked.
"I've really enjoyed it, Grandmother," he replied, his eyes not moving. "I mean, all the homework and studying for upcoming exams can be stressful at times, but I like to think I'm handling it well."
"Whatever you do, don't take those N.E.W.T. exams lightly," Astoria warned. "They are certainly tough, dear."
"Don't worry, I'm not. My getting into the Auror Department depends on my getting excellent grades on my exams," he assured, narrowing his eyes as Lucius's glare seemed to get even angrier.
"I really do wish you'd pick a safer career," Astoria sighed with a slight pout.
"He'll be fine, dear," Draco assured.
"Still, you know what kind of work Aurors do," Astoria insisted. "Anything could happen."
"Really, I'll be fine, Mother," Scorpius replied confidently.
"Fine, fine," Astoria relented. But then suddenly, her voice brightened. "Actually, Scorpius, I have a question for you. And you better have the answer I want."
While Scorpius didn't move his eyes from Lucius, but scowled with a bit of confusion. "Um, what question is that?"
"Will Lily be joining us for dinner on Christmas this year?"
Scorpius smirked in triumph when Lucius pulled away from their impromptu glaring contest, to look at his parents with disbelief and anger. "Excuse me?"
Draco just raised a brow, not backing down, but obviously not ready to fight either. "Didn't you know, Father? We've invited Lily to have dinner with us."
"And if you didn't invite your own girlfriend…" Astoria warned with a small glare.
Scorpius rolled his eyes. "No worries, Mum, I invited her. She said that she'd love to join us, and that she'd run it by her family and let us know."
Astoria's glare quickly turned into a bright smile. "Wonderful!"
"You must be joking!" Lucius hissed. "You've invited a Potter to our dinner?"
Scorpius quickly glared at him again. "Is there a problem with my inviting my girlfriend?" he baited. If Lucius threw the first insult, then he was free to hit back.
"There's no problem at all," Draco interrupted. "Right, Father?"
Lucius's eyes narrowed at his son. "Draco, I think you and I need to have a conversation later after dinner," he hinted.
Draco didn't look bothered. "If you insist," he said before taking a sip from his wine.
When dinner had ended, and Scorpius had said his goodbyes to his mother and grandmother, he hurried up the stairs to catch his father. "Dad!"
Draco stopped in the middle of the hall, looking at Scorpius curiously. "What is it, Scorpius?"
Scorpius sighed, running his hands through his hair. "Um . . . I'm sorry. About Lucius, that is."
"What do you have to apologize for? His actions are his own," Draco replied.
Scorpius shrugged. "I mean, if it wasn't for me, he wouldn't throw fits like this, and . . ."
"Son," Draco cut him off gently, "this is no longer just about you. Lily is important to all of us, excluding your grandfather. Even if you hadn't invited her, your mother and I would have. Because we care about her, and we want her to join us. This is now just about his problem with being . . . stubborn when it comes to Lily being a Potter. So don't apologize. This is not your fault."
Scorpius gave a nod. "Either way . . . good luck with your talk," he commented.
Scorpius sighed as he walked into his flat, only to find Lana laying across his couch, a magazine in her hands. "I regret giving you a key," he muttered.
"Hello to you too, dear brother," Lana replied casually.
"Really, what are you doing here? Surely your brothers and father couldn't have already gotten on your nerves?" Scorpius mentioned as he slipped on his shoes and coat.
"Not my dad, no. Lars just invited a few of the guys over, and they were being loud and obnoxious," Lana replied, her eyes still on the magazine article in front of her.
Scorpius sighed again. He knew what that meant. Dante was there. Part of him wondered if he should bring it up with her. But he knew that if Lana didn't want to talk about it, she'd just get angry at him as well.
So he stopped by his couch, and gently tugged a strand of her hair, gaining her attention. "Wanna talk about it?"
She seemed to ponder it for a brief moment, before shaking her head and looking back to what she was reading. "Not really, no. Besides, there isn't really anything to talk about."
Scorpius gave a nod. "If you're sure. I'm going to do a workout and then take a shower. Make yourself at home . . . not that you haven't already."
He left her alone, and changed into a simple pair of shorts and a shirt to workout in. Working out relaxed him after a tense dinner with Lucius. It always gave him something to focus and concentrate on. He didn't let himself think about other things. When he'd finished over an hour later, he'd forgotten all about Lucius's fit at dinner, and quickly took a warm shower, changed into a pair of pants and a sweater, before rejoining Lana in the living room.
He looked at her as he sat down in an armchair. "Do you wanna stay here tonight?"
Lana looked at him curiously. "Do you mind?"
He shook his head. "Not at all. Hungry?"
"I ate before I came," Lana retorted. "Not that you have anything in your cabinets, I'd wager."
Scorpius smirked. "Well you're probably right. Still, I thought I'd offer."
There was a sharp and deafening CRACK that made them both jump, before their eyes settled on the house elf that now stood in the middle of the room.
"Bloody hell!" Lana exclaimed, her hand over her heart.
The house elf looked at Scorpius timidly. "Pardon the intrusion, Master Malfoy. But your father sent me to tell you something."
Scorpius scowled. His father? What had happened that he couldn't tell him before he left the manor hours ago? "What happened?"
"A Lily Potter showed up at the manor." Scorpius perked up as the elf spoke. "And your father suggested that you come to see her."
Scorpius hesitated a moment. If Lily was at the manor at this time of night . . . then that talk with her family couldn't have gone well at all. He looked to Lana. "Will you be fine here on your own?"
Lana scoffed. "Please. I'm already hoping that you don't come back tonight so that I can steal your bed," she mocked lightly.
"Thanks, Lana."
He was back at the manor in minutes. He immediately went toward the parlor. His mother liked to spend her time in there, sketching new fashions. And if Lily was here, he was sure his mother was talking with her.
But to his surprise, he only found his mother. "Where's Lily?" he asked immediately.
His mother barely looked up from the sketchbook in her lap, but she smiled coyly. "She's in her room, dear."
Scorpius gave a nod before hurrying out of the room, and up the stairs to Lily's room in the manor. But he hesitated outside her door. What if she was sleeping? Or . . . what if she was changing? Slowly, he opened her door, and peered inside.
She wasn't changing clothes, or sleeping either. He found her taping a picture to the wall in front of her desk. So he pushed the door open wider. Her back was to him, so she hadn't noticed him. She wore the same outfit as she had this morning, only now her hair was up. He couldn't help but smile.
"What kind of trouble have you gotten yourself into now?"
She didn't jump or seem startled, but just put something away in her desk. "Just the usual. Parental issues, and idiot Gryffindors in the house," she mentioned lightly although there was nothing light or casual about either of those things.
He moved toward her, and wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. "I'm guessing the talk didn't go well?"
"It went terrible," she stated. "Helped nothing. All it did was bring up memories of why we argue. And then Albus laid out the fact that I sleep in your bed in front of my parents."
Scorpius froze where he stood. Baby Potter . . . he told the Chosen One that Scorpius was sharing a bed with his only daughter at night? He was beginning to question how he was still living, but shook off the thought to focus on what was going through his girlfriend's mind. "How the hell does he know?" he mumbled.
"I guess he heard Dom and Mitch talking." Scorpius rolled his eyes. He'd have to kill his friend later this break. But Lily continued to calmly rant. "Now my dad refuses to trust my word, refuses to believe that I could love you at fifteen, and is probably doubting that I'm a virgin."
Now he could really hear the soft sound of hurt in her voice. He sighed and turned her around to look at him. While her expression was neutral and calm, he could see that painful glimmer in her eyes. He brushed her bangs from her face, letting his fingers brush along her cheek. "Are you ok?" he questioned gently.
She pulled in a long breath, taking a moment to answer. As she seemed to think, he could see that painful glint shine brighter in her eyes. Finally, she wrapped her arms around him, and buried her face into the fabric of his sweater. "I'll get better," she whispered.
He closed his eyes for a moment. Again, he felt helpless. Like he couldn't do anything to make this better, to make it easier. He groaned. "I fucking hate this," he muttered.
She pulled away a little, and he regretted how that might have sounded. "What are you talking about?" she asked, her expression now one of confusion.
He sighed as he moved away, his instinct to start pacing almost kicking in. "I hate this whole affair. I mean . . ." He sat on the edge of her bed, ignoring how her little dragon Salazar, hissed at him. "All I'm trying to do is make you happy, but . . . with all of this crap, that's never going to happen, is it?"
She smiled a little as she came to stand in front of him, brushing his hair from his eyes. Then she straddled his lap, letting her hands rest on his shoulders. Her thumbs immediately began to gently massage the tension in his muscles. "Scorpius, you knew that a relationship with me came with a lot of baggage," she pointed out.
He closed his eyes, taking in the feel of her being so close, and that distinct flowery perfume that he could smell. "Yeah, I did," he admitted.
"And, I am happy when I'm with you," she stressed. "They're the happiest moments of my life. When all the crap with my family starts, you're like the perfect breath of fresh air. I love you. You love me, and that's all I need to be happy."
He opened his eyes to look at her again. While he could still see that small bit of hurt in her eyes, her smile was genuine. He smirked a little as he leaned his forehead against hers. "This is a bit backwards. You're the one who just had a terrible fight with your family. Isn't it my job to be comforting you now?" he joked weakly.
Her smile brightened. "You're a comfort just by being here."
He kissed her chastely before pulling away and sighing. "So, it's late. Am I right to assume that you're staying here tonight?"
Lily nodded. "Yup."
"And am I right when I guess that you left without your parents knowing?" Scorpius guessed.
She nodded again. "Yup. They have no idea. I'll go back tomorrow morning once my parents have left for work."
"Do my parents know that you snuck out and came here?" Scorpius questioned curiously.
She let out a small sigh. "I'm pretty sure that your dad knows. I don't know about your mum, though. She might have the idea, at least." She gave him a brief smile. "How long are you going to stay here?"
He smirked. "Who said I was going to leave?"
Lily raised a brow. "You're staying the night here?"
"Considering my girlfriend is staying here, and she just had a pretty bad fight with her family that prompted her to sneak out . . . my parents couldn't drag me out of here," he teased playfully.
Her smile softened as she leaned forward to kiss him. Her lips were warm and pliant under his.
"Lily? Scorpius?"
The two of them immediately broke apart as the bedroom door began to open. Lily moved off of his lap to sit beside him on the bed, just as his mother walked into the room. While she had a sly and knowing smile, she didn't say anything. "Scorpius dear, are you staying here tonight?"
Scorpius nodded. "Yes, we were just discussing that, actually," he replied, trying to seem casual.
Astoria smiled brightly. "Wonderful! We'll have a big breakfast in the morning! You know, if I knew that all it took to get you to stay over was to have Lily here, I'd have invited her to stay here more often," she teased.
Scorpius rolled his eyes as the two women chuckled. "Funny," he said dryly, but with a smile. "Was there anything else you needed?"
Astoria continued to smile. "No. I just wanted to ask. And to tell you both goodnight before your father and I went to sleep."
He gave a nod. "Ah. Well sweet dream, Mum."
"Goodnight, Astoria," Lily said with a smile.
"Sweet dreams to you both. Sleep tight," Astoria told them before leaving them alone again. She closed the door behind her, which surprised Scorpius a little. It was obviously a sign of trust, that she had not only not kicked him out of his girlfriend's room for the night, but had also closed the door.
Lily noticed as well. "Your mum must really trust us. My father would have a fit if my door wasn't wide open if we were in the same room alone," she muttered.
Scorpius smirked as he took her hand. "I think she trusts us not to do something stupid."
Lily grinned. "Define stupid."
Scorpius gave a devious smirk now. "Stupid would be . . . having a duel in the middle of the room," he threw out randomly.
She laughed lightly, then her tongue swept along her bottom lip. "So, what wouldn't be stupid?" Her voice was soft and alluring, sending a small jolt through him.
But he kept cool, hiding how her suggestive tone affected him inside. "Something that's not stupid would be this…"
He leaned forward and kissed her, his hand immediately moving to tangle in her hair. Now that he knew his parents were off to bed, he couldn't help but take the time to appreciate how warm she felt against him. He could smell that soft flowery scent that seemed to radiate from her. And her lips tasted like cherries, making the kiss even more addicting and sweet.
She pulled away, giggling when he tried to follow, placing one more kiss on her lips before looking at her. Her smile was bright, making him smile in return. That hurt glint seemed to be leaving her eyes more and more, making him extremely happy. She wasn't focusing on it anymore, which meant he was succeeding in making her feel better, if at least for the night.
She placed her hands on his cheeks, making him close his eyes for a brief moment in contentment. He opened them to lock eyes with her again. "Not that I normally wouldn't love to take advantage of the privacy your mum's allowed us, but I'm honestly a little exhausted after tonight."
Scorpius gave a small smirk as he turn his head just a little to place a kiss on her palm. "Ok. Want me to stay until you fall asleep?"
She looked a bit sheepish, but then nodded. "If you wouldn't mind."
Scorpius pulled away from her hands to lean forward and kiss her once more. "I would love nothing more."
While she changed into her pajamas, Scorpius moved to look at the picture she'd been hanging up when he'd first walked in. He smiled a little when he recognized the picture of Lily Evans. She'd shown it to him once before, and back then he could tell that it was important to her. Slughorn had given it to her, and it was the only picture she had of her grandmother to call her own.
He had to admit, she did look a lot like her grandmother in certain aspects. The same dark shade of red hair, similar styles, and by looking at the picture, the slightly smaller stature. But he believed that Lily had her own beauty to her. A different kind from the famous Lily Evans. Perhaps that was what made them unique from one another.
"There a reason you're staring intently at my grandmother's picture?" he heard Lily's voice tease.
He turned away to look at her as she emerged from the bathroom. He gulped when he saw her pajamas, but tried to seem casual. While yes, he'd seen her in pajamas multiple times, it always made his body feel warm. Tonight she was dressed in a very short pair of shorts, and green shirt that just brushed over the bottoms of her shorts. Her hair was loose around her shoulders, a bit wild and thick as usual. But absolutely stunning.
He gave her a small smirk. "Well I was trying to see how alike you two really look. But personally, I think you're much cuter," he quipped.
Lily giggled lightly as she moved toward her bed. The candles immediately blew out, and Scorpius moved to join her. He climbed onto her bed, staying on top of the cover, rather than under them. He knew if he did that, he might not leave.
As soon as he was settled into the pillows, he pulled Lily closer to him. She buried her face into his sweater. Scorpius gently stroked her hair as he could feel the weight of her day come to her once again. Her sadness practically radiated from her, and he just wanted to make it go away.
"Love you," he heard her whisper into the fabric of his sweater.
He pressed a gentle kiss to her hair. "I love you too. Sweet dreams, princess."
In no way was Scorpius happy with what happened at the Potter house the night before. He hated that Lily had been so hurt and upset that she'd felt the need to run away. But . . . well he had to admit that there were a few tiny benefits. Like how she decided to come to stay with his parents. And how it wasn't hard for him to stay as well. . . . And getting the chance to sneak back into her room to wake her up in the morning.
Scorpius couldn't keep a grin off his face when he let his eyes roam across his girlfriend's form, which was clad in only a skirt and a bra now. He felt his pants feel the slightest bit tighter at his fingers skimmed the soft and warm skin of her side, just above her hip.
"Having fun?" Lily teased playfully, a small smile on her own lips. There was just a slight tinge of pink on her cheeks, but her eyes were almost a shade darker with her own arousal.
He tried to contain his urges as his hormones were running rampant through his entire body. "Yes, I am," he mumbled as he leaned down, his lips brushing against her own. She laughed softly before tilting her head slightly and pressing her lips against his in a gentle, but passion-filled, kiss.
He smirked before swiping his tongue across her bottom lip. Her lips parted under his own, allowing him access. He felt a heat rush through his blood at the soft moan that reached his ears. But that heat practically burned when he felt her fingers dance down the skin of stomach, and to the button of his jeans. He tried to focus solely on the kiss, letting her do what she wanted, and whatever made her comfortable. But inside, he felt himself practically shaking with anticipation, as she unsnapped the buttons to his pants. The sound of the zipper rang loudly in the room as she pulled it down.
She didn't push his pants down, or even tug on them. Instead her fingers danced back up, skimming his side in a coy manner. He growled at the feeling, and pulled away from the kiss, panting a little as he smirked. "You know, if you're going to start something, the least you could do is finish it," he mocked as he kicked them off himself.
She smiled at him in a coy way as well. That pink blush on her cheeks darkened a little, but she didn't shy away. "I could, but that scowl you get when I don't is cuter," she commented as she ran a finger along his brow.
He moved away from her finger to rest his forehead against her own. He could feel her breath brush across his lips, and it made him tense even more as another wave of desire washed through his body. "You're cuter," he murmured, the urge to kiss her again increasing each time his lips brushed hers.
He almost groaned when her tongue moved along his lip as she licked her bottom lip. "I wouldn't say your cute overall," she teased, her voice soft and light.
Scorpius tilted his head slightly, ready and eager to kiss her fully once again. "What would you call me?" he inquired. The smell of lilacs wafted into his nose, sending a warm shiver through him.
"A stud," she murmured, her nail scratching through the hair at his neck. He kissed her then, roughly. He bit back a groan as his boxers began to feel even more constricting. He placed on hand on her thigh, then slowly let it slide up, waiting to see if she'd stop him.
But she didn't stop him. In fact, she moaned softly. He sucked at her bottom lip as he felt her fingers moving along the expanse of his upper body, every now and then lingering on a few of the scars he had from Quidditch and broom rides.
He was so distracted with the hot feeling that her fingers left on his skin that he hesitated as soon as he felt his fingers brush the hem of her knickers. But she said nothing, so he let his other hand move down to the top of her skirt. When still, she didn't stop him, he slipped one finger under the hem.
Scorpius pulled away from their kiss, his breath coming out in harsh pants. "Is . . ." he took a deep breath, ". . . this ok?"
She didn't answer for a short moment, but then nodded. "Go ahead."
With his heart hammering in his chest, he began to slip her skirt down her legs. His body felt hot, and anticipation was sprinting through his veins. They'd never moved this far. Sure, he'd slipped her shirt off before, but never her skirt. He'd never seen this much of her before.
When he dropped the skirt to the side, he let his eyes roam over her body. Her cheeks were a deep pink color, with what he guessed was a mix of shyness and arousal. He trailed up her legs, his gut tightening as his eyes skimmed over her knickers. They were boy shorts, black, and hugged her perfectly.
He closed his eyes, trying to push back the hormones and urges that were making his muscles twitch under his skin. When he opened them again, he locked eyes with her, and was immediately sucked into the passion and love he found in them.
He leaned down to kiss her again, sucking at her bottom lip again. Her moan was soft in his ears as her arms came to wrap around his neck. He released her bottom lip, and let his trail down to her neck. He brought one hand to trail down her side, and then to her thigh. Her skin was so soft and warm under his fingertips.
But before his hand could move any further, a sharp knock sounded at the bedroom door. Scorpius immediately jumped and pulled away from her, turning to the door. He couldn't lie . . . he was a little afraid that was his father behind the door.
"What is it?" Lily called out, but her voice trembled a little, her cheeks even pinker.
Scorpius felt immediately relief at the sound of the house elf's voice. "Miss Lily, Mistress Malfoy is wondering if you are hungry for breakfast in the dining hall."
She closed her eyes, and took a deep breath. It was obvious she was trying to regain her composure. Scorpius stayed silent as he turned back to look at the door, not wanting to give any hint that he was in the room with her. "Yes," Lily replied, "tell her I will be there in a couple of minutes." She paused, before continuing. "Have you woken Scorpius yet?"
Scorpius felt his eyes widen with a bit of surprise. He hadn't even thought of that . . . Oh Merlin, what if one of his parents had come to check on him, only to find him gone?
"He did not answer when I knocked," the house elf replied.
"I'll wake him up," Lily stated.
"Ok. I will inform the mistress." Then with a loud "CRACK," the house elf was gone.
Scorpius let out a breath as he looked back to Lily. He couldn't help but smirk a little. It was just his luck that they'd be interrupted. Then again, better one of the elves than his parents. "Well, I guess I'd better get fixed up and out of here. So you can wake me up, which I'm looking forward to," he teased.
She smiled briefly, but it then dropped into a sheepish look. "I'm sorry."
Scorpius almost chuckled as he stood up and grabbed his pants. Of course she would apologize. "You don't need to apologize, Lily," he assured as he pulled them on. "It's not your fault. Someone knocked on the door and threw the mood off. It's fine. In fact, it's probably better that it happened."
She sat up, but didn't move to redress. Scorpius was doing his best not to notice. His pants felt tight enough, and he hadn't even zipped them up yet. "What do you mean?"
He chuckled as he tried to smooth down his hair. "It just didn't feel like the right moment, ya know?" he replied as he did up the button to his pants. He bit back a groan at the constricting feeling. Truthfully, his body didn't give a damn about the moment. But he wanted to be comforting, plus . . . well she deserved better than a quickie in his parent's home as her first time.
She brought her knees up, resting her chin. "Maybe I wouldn't have stopped you."
Inside, his body felt so tight and hot it was likely to explode. But on the surface, he just gave a small smirk as he looked at her. "Even better that Pitch knocked then."
He felt a bit of panic as her expression became hesitant and . . . almost hurt. Had he said something wrong? "You mean . . . you don't want to?"
He sighed, feeling stupid. Of all the things he could have done, he had to make her feel uncertain about herself. Scorpius felt like kicking himself, but instead sat down next to her. "I've never wanted to do something so bad," he admitted as he pushed her hair away from her face. "But, I don't want either of our first times to be in a room where either of my parents could barge in at any moment. And I'd rather it feel like the right moment than just like any normal snog," he explained as he grabbed her shirt from the floor, and handed it to her.
She took it, and now a smile was on her lips. "Thank you," she whispered.
He leaned forward to kiss her softly. "Of course, babe." He took her hand, running his thumb along the back of her hand. "And, I'd also rather be completely sure that you want this. And when you do . . . well, we'll go from there."
The thought of her being ready for that made his heart beat a little faster. Sure, he'd obviously thought about it before, and he was ready for that step. But . . . well they'd never talked about it recently. Not since they both said "I love you."
"I'm . . ." Lily sighed heavily as she slipped her shirt back on. "I guess I'm not just a hundred percent sure. Maybe like . . . ninety-five."
He chuckled. "And I want you to be a hundred. I'm not in any rush, babe."
She moved to sit beside him at the side of the bed. "I just . . . I feel like this keeps happening. We get further and further, and then I stop you."
He smiled. "And what? You think I'm mad about that?" She just shrugged, staring at anything but him. He took her hand. "Lily, you wanting to stop is never going to upset me. Why should I be angry? I'm able to snog my girlfriend in nothing but our underwear. Not a lot of blokes get that pleasure. And not all of them have a hot girlfriend like I do."
She rolled her eyes, but smiled, finally. "Still . . . I feel like we keep getting close, and then I'm pulling on the brakes."
Scorpius scowled. "Brakes?"
She shook her head. "It's a muggle expression. The point it is . . ."
"The point is," Scorpius interrupted, "that I am willing to wait my whole life for you. And while I wait, I'd rather be allowed the chance to snog my girlfriend half naked, even if we have to stop before anything else happens. So, don't think about taking away something I thoroughly enjoy, just because you for some reason feel bad about it. Because I don't regret or feel annoyed with it."
She smiled fully now as she sighed. She looked at him. "Ok. You win. Besides, for all we know, if might not be long before I reach a hundred percent certainty, anyways," she joked lightly.
Scorpius smiled too, but his blood still raced at the idea.
