Chapter Forty-Two: How to Meet in the Middle
Scorpius stormed away from the door, but stopped at the top of the stairs. Closing his eyes, he took in a deep breath. Already, he regretted losing his temper . . . but Merlin did she have to take that coward's side? Why couldn't she just trust him on this?
"Scorpius?"
Scorpius opened his eyes to see Hugo halfway up the stairs, looking at him curiously. He sighed internally. "Yeah?"
Hugo raised a brow, but thankfully didn't ask. "So I got tasked with the fun job of making sure we have enough chairs for the ceremony. I thought I'd see if you wouldn't mind helping out?"
Scorpius nodded. "Yeah, sure." A mindless task could help to clear his mind. He walked down the stairs, letting Hugo lead him.
Hugo turned to him. "Also, if there's something you need to talk about . . . feel free," he mentioned briefly.
Scorpius smirked a little. "Yeah . . . maybe tomorrow."
He stayed around to help, but easily avoided Lily, and also avoided talking about it with Hugo. He was able to politely decline Mrs. Weasley's invitation to stay and eat, and instead hurried back to his flat.
As soon as Scorpius closed the door behind him, he kicked off his shoes, and threw his coat onto the nearest surface.
"Man, it must have been bad today," Mitch commented from the kitchen table, his mouth half full of food.
Scorpius sighed as he dropped onto his couch, running a hand through his hair. "Yeah, but it wasn't because of her dad or uncles this time," he muttered.
Mitch brought his plate and moved to sit in the armchair. "Yeah? What happened?"
Scorpius rubbed his eyes. "Well, I tried to talk to Lily about Scamander . . . needless to say, it didn't end well."
Mitch gave a nod as he chewed his food. "Pretty pissed, are ya?"
Scorpius sat up, sighing again. "Sort of. I was at first, but part of me feels like I shouldn't have lost it like I did. But then I'm still mad about the fact that she won't believe me about that kid."
"Yeah, I would be too," Mitch agreed. "So, are you gonna go back to help out tomorrow?"
He paused, but then shook his head. "No. I don't want fight about it even more. I think I'll just step back and let both of us cool off a little more tomorrow."
"Probably a good idea," Mitch replied. "I'll go help out tomorrow, since I didn't go today. Also, there's a plate of food for you too."
Scorpius, finally noticing his own hunger, perked up. He got up and took the plate of pasta that Mitch held out to him. "Did you make this?"
Mitch laughed. "I wish I could make food this good. Your mum had a house elf send it over. She left a note that says you shouldn't be afraid to stop by for a quick visit."
Scorpius began to dig in to his food. Maybe a visit with his mum wouldn't be a bad idea.
"Not that I don't love having my son back home for a visit, I can't help but notice that something's wrong," Astoria commented as she picked up her mug of tea. She raised a brow toward her son. "Wanna talk about it?"
Scorpius raised a brow in return. "Why do you think something's wrong?"
Astoria grinned. "Sweetheart, I've been married to your father for just over twenty years now. I know the signs he gives when something's bothering him, and you give the exact same signs. And since you didn't bring her with you, I'm guessing it has to do with Lily?"
Scorpius groaned quietly. "Must you know everything?" he muttered.
Astoria smiled. "I'm your mother, dear. Of course I know everything."
Scorpius scratched at the back of his neck. "It's just . . . does Dad ever get protective of you around other men?"
Astoria let out a small laugh. "Oh, he used to. All the time. He's calmed a lot since we first started seeing each other, but I can still see it flair up in his eyes sometimes."
"So you guys used to fight about it?" Scorpius said, feeling a bit of relief, knowing it wasn't just him.
"Oh, we never used to fight about it," Astoria replied.
"You never fought about it?" Scorpius exclaimed. He sighed. How was his mother so understanding, yet Lily wasn't?
Astoria gave a soft smile. "Well I never saw the point in arguing. And it's not like your father was ever . . . open or aggressive in how protective he was. It was always little things, like taking my hand, glaring at other men, or even just politely hovering next to me if I was talking to another man. Plus, I understood what he'd been through. It was a while before the horrors of the war no longer traumatized your father. I was always afraid that if I pushed him, it would make it worse."
Scorpius's shoulders slumped. Well the situations were obviously different. He'd be an idiot to try and deny the fact that he was a bit aggressive in how protective he was when Lily was involved.
Astoria seemed to be reading his mind. "That is one area where you and your father differ. Where he's much more . . . quiet about how he does things, you're much more active and open about it."
"Am I wrong?" Scorpius questioned. "I mean . . . this guy has told me that he has an interest in my girlfriend. Am I wrong to be protective and cautious?"
Astoria sighed. "You know what I've noticed about Lily?"
Scorpius scowled. She was avoiding his question. "What?"
"For as cautious as she seems, she always wants to believe the best in people," Astoria commented. "She may not even notice that she does, but it's something about her that I happen to love. No matter their past or their reputation, she instinctively wants to hope for the best."
"So I'm wrong?" Scorpius guessed.
"I didn't say that," Astoria countered.
"Then answer my question!" Scorpius retorted.
Astoria smiled. "Look, I'm not going to say that you're wrong, or that she's wrong. What I will say is that you have to learn to see things from her side. Because if you can do that, you'll understand each other better. If you can't . . . well then this will be a fight that you have again in the future."
Scorpius closed his eyes, trying to think. See it from her side. Lily did want to believe the best of people . . . but she also wasn't stupid. She rarely gave second chances. If burned, she didn't stick her hand into the flames again. Look at her brothers, Gryffindors, and others that hated Slytherins. She was never naïve enough to fall for the same trick.
So why now? Why Scamander? What trick was this guy playing to get her to believe that he's so innocent? Why was she choosing to believe in Scamander rather than her own boyfriend? And what the hell was he supposed to do now?
Scorpius sighed as he finished the last button to his shirt. Then he reached up to gently run his hand over his hair, careful not to mess it up. The green streaks were hidden, and it was combed to the side.
Today was the day of the wedding. They would be returning to Hogwarts tomorrow. And he had yet to talk to Lily. After visiting with his mother yesterday, he hadn't gone over to see Lily, or to help with the wedding. He had still been angry, and he didn't want to fight.
But now . . . while he had a bit of lingering irritation, he just wanted to forget about it. He didn't want to fight with her, especially not when she was trapped around a family that already disapproved of her and was disappointed in her. She needed his support, not his anger. Plus . . . well he just missed her. It may sound selfish, but he just wanted to go back to when she wasn't angry at him. He wanted to go back to being the reason she was smiling, not the reason she was stressed.
"Hey, you ready to go?"
Scorpius turned away from the mirror to look at Mitch, who stood in his doorway. While he at least wore a green buttoned shirt, his hair was still an electric blue. It was spiked up as usual, but his bangs fell down his brow.
Scorpius smirked as he motioned towards his hair. "Changing it up?" he mocked.
Mitch grinned broadly. "It's a wedding. I gotta do something different."
Scorpius shook his head at his friend. His smirk fell as he sighed. "Yeah, I'm ready. Let's just go."
The Burrow was alive when they arrived. Angelina Weasley was finishing last minute details, there was activity in the kitchen, and the men were putting together a few things outside.
"Scorpius!"
Scorpius turned his head when he heard Lola calling his name. He found her descending the stairs, wearing a dress that was an ice blue color. He gave her a smile. "Hello, Lola. You look lovely," he complimented.
Lola gave him a smile. "Thank you. You look quite nice yourself. Both of you."
Mitch gave her an over exaggerated smile. "Aw! Thanks!" But then he sobered up a little. "Have you seen Dom?"
"She's with her sister. She'll probably be done soon," Lola answered. Then she looked to Scorpius. "And Lily's getting ready herself. She's in George's old room."
Mitch nudged him too. "Take the chance. Go talk to her," he insisted.
"Is he as tortured as she's been?" Lola asked Mitch.
"He's been sitting around brooding about it since it happened," Mitch agreed.
"Lily refuses to even talk about it. She's just been pouting silently to herself," Lola commented with a sigh.
Scorpius sighed. "I'm right here," he pointed out mockingly. But he brushed past them to hurry up the stairs. Mitch was right about one thing. He had to take this chance. With the wedding, and her family, he probably wouldn't get the chance to talk to her alone again today. Now was the best time.
When he came to the door, he knocked sharply. "Who is it?" he heard her call from inside.
Scorpius cleared his throat. "It's me," he replied. He had to stay calm. No letting things get out of control. No letting his pride take over.
There was a pause before she spoke. "Unlock it."
Scorpius pulled his wand out from his pocket. "Alohomora," he whispered. The lock clicked, and he shoved his wand back into his pocket as he walked into the room. He shut the door behind him, then stopped when he finally saw her. She was standing in front of the mirror, her hands at the back of her dress, obviously struggling to get the zipper all the way up.
Gathering his courage, he moved toward her. When he was just behind her, he brought his hands up to hers. "Let me help," he murmured. She didn't pull away or argue. She just let her hands fall back to her sides. He took her invitation, and pulled the zipper up slowly.
She looked absolutely beautiful. Her hair was thick, and the ends curled. The flower clip he'd bought her on Christmas break was in her hair. The dress she wore was a soft blue color. It was strapless, baring her shoulders.
Unable to help himself, he wrapped his arms around her. Her hair smelled like lilacs and lavender today. Intoxicating.
He felt relieved when she relaxed into his embrace. "I'm not going to believe that Lysander is going to attempt anything," she whispered.
Scorpius let out a breath. He pushed away his irritation. "Ok. And I'm still not going to trust him," he muttered. He let out a sigh. "I'm just not good at being mad at you. Not when you look this beautiful."
She turned in his arms to look at him. Her eyes scanned him briefly before locking eyes with him. While she didn't look angry either, her expression was neutral. "Scorpius, how many times are we going to have this fight? How many times am I going to see you brooding because another guy has an interest in me?"
Scorpius closed his eyes as his irritation attempted to wash through him again. But he did his best to push it back, despite Scamander's words ringing in his ears. "I'm trying, Lily, but it's not easy," he admitted, opening his eyes. "And . . . I just really can't trust Scamander."
"You aren't like this about Xavier, and I dated him," Lily pointed out. "In fact, I'm sure I kissed him a lot more than I ever did Lysander. Because Lysander was too much of a gentleman."
"Because I know that Xavier doesn't have an interest in rekindling your guys' relationship. But Scamander does," Scorpius insisted. Despite trying to push his irritation away, it was starting to rise. Could she not just take his word for it?
She looked ready to roll her eyes. "How would you know that?" she quipped.
"Because he told me!" he snapped. He pulled back then, trying to reign his anger in. Be calm. This was not the time or place to fight. That was not why he came up here.
She looked at him with surprise, at his words or anger, he wasn't sure. "What?"
Scorpius just shook his head. No more arguing. "Nothing. Forget it."
"No, what, Scorpius," she pressed.
"It's nothing."
"Scorpius, I tell you everything you want to know when something bugs me," she countered, her own irritation showing just a little. "The least you can do is the same!"
Scorpius took a deep breath as he tried to relax. She was right. Whenever he pressed her to talk, she did. Besides, his mother's words were repeating in his head. And how could she understand his side if he'd talk to her about it?
"Scamander told me flat out that he still has feeling for you. That he wants to date you again. He made it very clear for me to understand."
She didn't speak for a moment, probably taking in what he'd said. But then she sighed. "I still don't see why that matters," she stated, to his surprise. "Why does that mean he'll make a move?"
"I just don't trust me," Scorpius replied. "Something isn't right, and I don't trust him." For the guy to suddenly get a backbone? It didn't make sense to him.
"Well I just got Lysander back as a friend." Scorpius gritted his teeth at her words. "I'm not going to avoid and ignore him just because you're being paranoid," she said firmly.
Scorpius sat down on the bed, trying to relax again. He wasn't surprised by her statement. He knew she wouldn't stop talking to that idiot, no matter what he said. Like his mum had said, she was believing in the best. "I know you're not," he grumbled. Where did this leave him? He felt as if he were just running around in circles in the situation he found himself in.
She came to stand in front of him. She held her hands out, and he took them into his own. "Scorpius, do you remember what I said to you when we talked about me wearing your ring on this finger?"
Scorpius glanced at her ring finger, where his Slytherin ring sat. "I remember," he murmured. The sight of the ring lifted his spirits a little. But only a little.
"Then why do you worry about me and other boys?" she asked softly. "Because let's say that you're right, and Lysander oddly enough tries something? So what? I get mad at him, probably hit him, and then come straight to you. It's not like I'm going to leave you for him. I went through enough guilt leaving him for you."
"It's not that I'm worried you'll leave me," he murmured. He wasn't. He trusted and believed Lily when she said she loved him. He never doubted that. He put all his faith in her holding onto his heart.
"Then what is it?" she asked gently.
Scorpius sighed as he rested his head against their hands. "It's a guy thing. And you're going to think it'd dumb." He didn't want to fight, and admitting this could start one. Lana always fought him and Lars on this subject. And she claimed this was a problem he'd had since they were kids.
But Lily was insistent. "Scorpius, just tell me."
He hesitated, but finally gave in. "I just really hate when guys hit on my girlfriend. I really, really hate it. Almost as much as what I know boys do with your model pictures. It bugs the shit out of me," he mumbled.
He heard her sigh. "Scorpius, I don't want to go through this every time some guy tells me I'm cute or something," she whispered.
"I can't help the fact that I hate it."
"Scorpius!" They both jumped, startled away from their moment. "We've got a couple things to take outside still before guests arrive. Can you spare a moment to help?" Lorcan asked from the other side of the door.
Lily looked at the door briefly before looking back to him. She let his hands go. "Go help them. I've got to finish getting ready," she murmured.
Scorpius stared at her for a moment, a little confused. Were they ok now, or was she still mad? Was he still mad? Yeah, he was still irritated, but that hardly mattered anymore. So . . . where did they stand?
Without a word, he stood up and left the room. Lorcan stood there, looking more formal than he'd ever expected to see him. Scorpius assumed that had to do with his girlfriend being prissy Weasley.
Lorcan gave him a grin. "Lola told me you'd be up here. And we could really use the help. Do you mind?"
Scorpius gave him a polite smile. "No, not at all." When he followed Lorcan down the stairs, he felt himself tense when he saw the other Scamander twin waiting.
"I've got some help," Lorcan exclaimed with a grin. "So let's do this!"
Scorpius groaned internally. This was going to be a long day.
The wedding ceremony was simple, and honestly a bit boring. Scorpius sat next to Mitch and Dominique. Lily was in the back, taking pictures of the ceremony with Scamander. He didn't look back toward them. Seeing Scamander near his girlfriend would just infuriate him.
When the reception started, Scorpius found himself sitting with Mitch, a small glass of fire whiskey in his hands. He'd only taken a couple sips from the strong drink, but it'd hardly made him feel better.
"Just go talk to her," Mitch stated. "You're not fun with you moping about."
Scorpius rolled his eyes at his friend's joke. "That's probably not a good idea with Scamander sticking to her side," he hissed lowly.
Mitch sighed. "Well, why don't you ask her to dance? Get her away from that idiot?"
"I'm not in a mood to dance," Scorpius muttered, taking another drink.
Mitch took the glass from him. "Look, Freddy's mum asked me and Dom to play a song, and we're going on after this one. We decided to play a slow one, since it's a wedding. Ask her to dance, and talk to her. This is not a request. As your best friend, I'm commanding it," he stated. He stood up and straightened his shirt. Then he walked away, and Scorpius could see Dominique waiting for him.
Scorpius sighed loudly as he ran a hand over his face and down his hair. He didn't really care if he ruined the style at this point. He got up from his seat, and made his way to where Lily was taking pictures. His anger boiled when he saw that idiot talking to his girlfriend, pretending to look so innocent.
He couldn't focus on that. He adverted his gaze to Lily, not letting himself be bothered by that idiot. "Hey," he greeted when he'd approached them. Lily turned to look at him, her expression showing her hesitance. "Dance with me?" he asked.
She looked down at the camera, then at the dance floor. "I don't know, Scor," she replied. "I'm not up to dancing to this kind of song."
The idea of her sticking to Scamander instead of dancing with him sent another thrill of irritation through him. He took the camera from her, and pushed it into Scamander's hands, still not looking at him. "It's going to end soon. They're playing a slow one next," he stated as he took her hand.
The song ended as they reached the edge of the dance floor. The band began to leave the stage, and Scorpius could see the confusion in Lily's eyes. Apparently Dominique hadn't told anyone that they would be performing.
Angelina announced that Mitch and Dominique would be performing, and Scorpius brought Lily onto the dance floor. Mitch, as always, standing out with his blue hair and style, sat down on a stool with a simple acoustic guitar. The first one he'd ever had, and the one he'd learn to play guitar with. Dominique stood at the mic, and introduced the cover song they would be performing.
When the song started, Scorpius pulled Lily close, and they began to dance to the gentle beat of the song. Scorpius breathed in the scent of lilacs and lavender again. It was calming, if only slightly. "Are you still mad at me?" he whispered near her ear.
Her sigh blew across his collar. "Mildly irritated," she admitted.
He held her tighter. "I can't help how I feel about things."
"I know." She tightened her grip on him in return. "I know."
Gently, he kissed the top of her head. "I love you," he murmured.
"I love you too," she said firmly. "I may not like certain things about you, but I still love you. I'm always going to love you."
He let out a small chuckle. "Well that's good to know," he replied with a small smirk. Then he sighed. "I don't want to fight every time I feel like this," he said, repeating her statement from earlier.
"I don't either."
"So I'll do better to keep my irritation to myself," he promised firmly.
She laughed lightly. "And I'll quit snapping at you every time you start brooding over your irritation."
He chuckled again. "And I'll try to do less of that." He paused for a moment. "I don't like having you angry at me. And I'm not a fan of being angry at you."
"I don't think I'm very good at being angry at you. Irritated maybe, but anger is hard to keep around you. You're too relaxing."
Scorpius smiled at her words. He'd much rather be the reason she's loses her stress than the reason she gains it. "That's good. Because I've seen small flashes of your anger, and it's quite frightening," he teased.
"So we're ok?"
Scorpius nodded. "I am."
"So am I," she whispered.
After arriving at Hogwarts, the others began to trail up the stairs to the dorms, Hugo heading for the fifth year boys' room. The plan was for him to stay another night or two, just in case his sister or cousin got any ideas.
Scorpius and Lily hung back for a moment, lingering by the stairs. Scorpius gave her a smirk. "So, there's nothing specific you want to do for Valentine's Day tomorrow?" he questioned.
Lily shook her head. "Nope, we can go with your plans. And you're not going to tell me what those plans are?"
Scorpius chuckled. "No chance. Besides, it's nothing big, and you'll figure it out soon enough tomorrow. So be patient," he teased.
She giggled lightly. "Ok, fine. Anyways, I'd better go upstairs. I'm sure the girls want to know everything that happened, and I let poor Lola go up there alone," she joked.
Scorpius smirked. "Ok. I need to talk to the guys anyways. I'll see you tomorrow." He leaned down to kiss her quickly.
"I love you," she whispered against his lips.
"I love you too," he replied before they parted ways, heading toward their dorms.
"Welcome back!" Rex exclaimed with a smile as soon as Scorpius stepped into the room.
"It was boring without you guys," Lars commented. "I had to deal with my sister alone."
Scorpius laughed. "Sorry about that. I owe you one."
"You owe me double," Lars said, now grinning.
Scorpius raised a brow, but noticed that Rex and Justin were grinning too. "Um . . . what are you talking about?"
"We did what you asked," Rex commented. "We fixed up the shack a little for your date tomorrow."
Scorpius perked up. "Really? Thanks guys. I really appreciate it," he replied.
"No need," Justin assured, still grinning.
"Just let us know how the date goes tomorrow," Lars said with a chuckle.
"Yeah, we wanna know if all our hard work paid off," Rex insisted.
While Scorpius really was grateful for their help, he really didn't trust the looks on their faces. "What did you do?"
"Well we fixed up most of the first floor," Rex said, ignoring what Scorpius was really questioning. "It's nothing perfect, but it's passable. And we did a little work upstairs. Not much though."
"I promise," Justin assured, "no pranks, no traps."
Scorpius looked at them suspiciously. While Rex and Lars were . . . well hard to trust when they looked like that, Scorpius usually could trust Justin. But obviously, something was up. "Ok . . . Well, again, thanks."
Rex grinned like a cat. "You are very welcome."
Scorpius pulled his leather jacket on, then ran a hand over his hair. He looked himself over in the mirror. While it was a date, and their first Valentine's Day as a couple, Scorpius didn't see the need to dress up, and was sure that Lily would feel the same. So he'd settled for a simple green V-neck sweater and black jeans. His hair wasn't agreeing with him, and was a bit of a mess. But it was passable.
"Good enough," he mumbled as he grabbed the flower from his bed, and made his way out of the room. He found Mitch at the bottom of the stairs, obviously waiting for him. "I'm surprised you didn't go find Dominique," he mocked.
Mitch grinned as he fell into step with his friend, leaving the common room. "We're not too sold on the idea of Valentine's Day, and find it to be stupid. So there's no need for me to go running with a million gifts," he replied. "I figured I'd walk with ya before I go and sneak a snack from the kitchens."
Scorpius looked at him curiously. "You aren't going to Hogsmeade?"
Mitch shook his head. "No, last night Dom and I decided not to. Besides, with the rest of you guys going out on your own dates, Dom and I will have the dorm room to ourselves," he said with sly grin.
Scorpius chuckled. "Stay off my bed," he joked.
"As long as Justin's is fair game," Mitch quipped as they reached the Entrance Hall. He sighed as he stopped walking. He gave Scorpius a pat on the shoulder. "Our little Scorpius, growing up and truly celebrating Valentine's Day," he teased.
Scorpius rolled his eyes, but smirked. "Sod off and go eat something."
Mitch laughed. "Have fun, Scor. Do everything I would do, and you definitely will."
Scorpius laughed as Mitch turned around and disappeared back down the stairs. He continued to chuckle as he walked over to wait by the door. Thankfully, he hadn't been waiting very long before Lily entered his sight, and as always took his breath away.
Like him, she'd dressed in a simple yet nice way for their date. He almost shook his head at the red plaid skirt she wore. While he appreciated the view it gave him, he wondered how she didn't freeze. Her shirt was simple with green and black. And the jacket he'd given her over Christmas was in her hands.
He gave her a smirk when she approached. "You look absolutely stunning," he stated, before holding out the flower. "I know you're not a fan of bouquets, so I settled for getting you just one."
She laughed softly as she took it. "Well thank you for that."
"I was tempted," Scorpius admitted with a chuckle. He would never be opposed to buying his girlfriend a bouquet. Hell, he'd buy her a dozen bouquets. But it wasn't her thing, so he restrained himself.
He held out his hand. "Well, the school has brought out the carriages to take us to the village in spirit of the day's romance. Shall we?"
They shared a carriage with Hugo, Lola, Xavier, and his girlfriend Manny. He enjoyed taking with them, but as soon as they reached Hogsmeade, he pulled her away from the others, and brought her to Honeyduke's.
Lily looked at him curiously. "What are we doing here?"
He smirked. "Well, I want you to buy whatever kind of candy you like, while I run off and set something up really quick." It wasn't that he didn't trust his friends, but he didn't trust his friends. Something was strange about them last night, so he was going to make sure that everything was normal at the shack. "I'll be back in ten minutes at the most," he promised. Then he pressed a handful of coins into her palm.
She sighed and looked ready to roll her eyes at him. "Scor, I can buy my own candy," she mocked.
He shook his head. "No. This is one of my many gifts you'll receive tonight," he teased. "I would have gotten it earlier, but I wasn't sure what kind of candy you'd want. Letting you choose will keep me from spoiling you."
Now she did roll her eyes, but smiled. "Ok, ok. But you better be quick," she joked.
Scorpius chuckled before kissing her quickly. "I will be," he promised as he pulled away. He urged her into the shop. "Ten minutes. I promise." When he walked away, he peeked back to make sure that she had stepped into the shop. After seeing that she was indeed out of sight, he made his way into The Three Broomsticks. Before he made sure his friends weren't playing some joke on him, he had a small errand to run.
He made his way to the counter, where the elderly Madam Rosmerta was tending the bar. When she noticed him waiting patiently, she smiled. "Ah, young Scorpius. Here to pick up that cake?"
Scorpius nodded. "Yes, thank you."
"Give me a second, and I'll go and get it," she promised before disappearing to the back.
Scorpius waited patiently. He'd sent a letter with an order for a chocolate cake last week. He'd even gone the romantic, and slightly cheesy route of requesting a heart-shaped cake. He thought a dessert would be nice, and he knew that Lily enjoyed chocolate.
"Here we are," Madam Rosmerta said, bringing a covered tray out to him.
Scorpius pulled the money out of his pocket, along with a generous tip. "Thank you so much, Madam Rosmerta. You're a lifesaver," he said politely and with a smile.
"And you are the sweetest young man to come through here," she replied. "I don't think I've ever had such a sweet request made before. I'm sure the young lass you got this for will love it."
"Thank you," Scorpius said with a nod as he picked up the tray. "Have a lovely day."
As soon as he left, he then hurried to the shack. He trusted the guys to clean it up for him a bit, but he knew that something was up with them last night. So what had they done?
When he arrived at the Shrieking Shack, he was impressed that they even fixed the door. He stepped inside, and was surprised. The placed looked so . . . well nice when it was clean. Sure there were things that were still broken, things the guys probably couldn't fix that easily. But it looked nice. He continued to inspect the place, and saw nothing strange. No pranks, no traps, nothing.
"Were they trying to make me paranoid? Was that the joke?" Scorpius mumbled to himself as he continued to look around a bit more. Seeing nothing, he walked upstairs. Even the hall looked nice. But finally, he caught something out of place.
A piece of paper stuck to a door.
He set the cake down on an end table against the wall, and pulled the paper from the door. He recognized Rex's messy scrawl immediately, and then Justin's more legible handwriting below.
"Scor, this is the only room we cleaned up on the second floor. DON'T come in here unless Lil's with you. Trust me!" – Rex"
"Scorpius, trust me, it's nothing bad. But it would ruin the effect if you looked inside without Lily. I promise, no pranks or traps. If I'm lying, you can kill us when you come back from your date. – Justin"
To say that Scorpius was tempted to step inside was an understatement. But . . . well he did trust Justin not to lie to him about this. So he didn't. He stuck the note into his pocket, and went back down the stairs. Everything looked good, and he had the cake. So he was ready to bring Lily to see the surprise.
Scorpius shoved his hands into his pockets as he strolled through Hogsmeade. He greeted a few friends he passed by, and ignored the glares and whispers. As he began to reach Honeyduke's, he slowed as he found Lily talking with a couple. He recognized both teens and tensed. The girl was the Ravenclaw prefect, Belby. But the boy . . . it was that Cornfoot kid. The one Lily had kissed at a Slytherin victory party last year. Scorpius reined back his instinctive urge to rush to Lily's side and remind the guy who her boyfriend was.
Cornfoot wasn't stupid. He knew that Scorpius and Lily were dating, and he was obviously on a date himself. Plus, the guy looked super uncomfortable and like he really wanted to leave. That was a little comforting.
Scorpius sighed as he looked at the window next to him, hoping to distract himself. He promised he'd tried to hold back on the . . . the so-called jealous tendencies. He looked over the little Valentine's Day display. Different types of heart-shaped and pink and white gifts decorated the window display.
"Don't even think about."
Scorpius turned with surprise, but smirked when he saw that Lily had come to join him. He glanced back at the display briefly. While it all looked nice and potentially expensive, none of them were things that Lily preferred.
"I'll buy you whatever I want to buy you," he teased.
She rolled her eyes at him, but continued to smile. "Did you finish what you went off to do?"
He took the bag of candy from her. "Yes, I did." Then he looked through the bag. "And what did you get?"
"Candy."
Now he rolled his eyes. "I thought everyone bought brooms at Honeyduke's," he mocked. But at catching a look at the box of Bertie Bott's, he grinned. "Aw, you got me a box of Bertie Bott's." He pulled out the box, and was happy to see that it was one of the large boxes. He knew it was for him, because while Lily didn't mind them, she rarely bought them for herself. And she often teased him and guys for challenging each other to eat some of the more disgusting beans.
She smiled and gave a little shrug. "Even if it was your money, consider it a gift from me."
He smirked. "I'll cherish each bite," he said, kissing her on the cheek. He dropped the box back into the bag, then took her hand. "So, are you ready?"
"I guess I am," she said with a nod.
"Well, come on then." He led the way, knowing that soon enough she'd know where they were going.
"So, where are we going?" she asked.
"Somewhere special," he said simply. At least, he hoped she'd think so. "Also, if you see Rex, Justin, or Lars, you should thank them, because they helped to set this up while we were at the wedding."
"They set this up?" she laughed, almost disbelieving.
He smirked. "I called in old favors. I told them what I wanted and how to do it. And since I have seen it, I know that it looks wonderful. So, don't worry," he promised.
They walked in a comfortable silence through the streets, but soon began to leave the main hub of the village. He could see the realization coming to her eyes.
"You're taking me to the Shrieking Shack?" she questioned.
He gave a nod. "Yep. I had the guys fix it up. Trust me, it looks great."
He could see the skepticism in her eyes, which was understandable. The place had been a wreck for longer than they'd been alive. "I doubt they could have clean it up that much."
"Trust me," he insisted. But he liked that she was skeptical. It'd make the surprise that much better.
He helped her over the fence, and smirked when he saw her surprise when she looked at the door. "They fixed the door?" she commented with an impressed tone.
"They fixed a lot of things in here. At least a in a few rooms. I only saw the sitting room, but they claimed to have cleaned and fixed up most of the first floor and part of the second."
He opened the door and let her step in first. He was happy to see her surprise grow as she looked around, and the smile that graced her lips. "They did an amazing job," she admitted.
He closed the door behind him. "Well I told them I would settle for nothing less than amazing when it came to doing something for you." It was warmer inside, so he slipped off his jacket, and now that the floors were clean, he stepped out of his shoes.
Lily followed suit as she gave him a smile. "Really?"
Scorpius smirked as he approached her. "That, and that if it wasn't perfect, I would add on more Quidditch practices for Lars, and that I would tell Virgin Rose where the band practices after hours," he joked.
She playfully smacked his arm. "You did not!"
Scorpius laughed. "I did, but I would never do that to them. Point is, it got them to do the job right."
Lily wrapped her arms around him, which brought an extra warmth to his skin. "Well I love it," she stated.
"Then I'll tell them they're in the clear," he murmured. He leaned down to kiss her briefly. Then he brought her to the couch, and urged her to sit down. "Just stay here, and I'll be back. I've got to get something," he said, thinking of the cake he'd left just up the stairs.
Lily raised a curious brow. "What?"
"Another surprise," he said with a smirk. He set down the bag of candy, and hurried up the stairs. The cake sat exactly where he left it. Again, he eyed the door to the room the guys had wanted him to look at when Lily was here. He was still suspicious. What kind of antics were they up to?
He shook away the thoughts, agreeing with Justin that he'd just kill them later if it was a prank. Scorpius grabbed the tray, and brought it down stairs. "I hope you didn't eat a big lunch," he commented as he reached the bottom of the stairs, "because I had something brought."
She looked at him curiously. "What is it?"
"Something I know that you love," he replied simply. He set down the tray before sitting next to her. Slowly, knowing her curiosity sometimes made her impatient, he began to pull off the cover.
He felt pride swell in his chest when he saw the delighted look in her eyes when she saw the cake.
"You brought me a chocolate cake?" she said, practically squealing.
He chuckled at her excitement. "Ok, cool. Don't notice that it's in the shape of a heart," he mocked playfully.
Her eyes didn't even stray from the cake. "Did you do it?"
"No," he admitted with a laugh.
"Then bite it," she quipped as she picked up one of the forks. She took a bite immediately, letting out a tiny moan at the taste. "That is fantastic," she mumbled.
"Well thank Madam Rosmerta," Scorpius told her. "She made it for me. She may be getting on in age, but she can still cook."
"It's delicious!" she insisted, taking what had to already be her third bite of cake.
Scorpius smirked as he picked up the second fork. "I'm glad I chose it then." He placed the bite in his mouth, and immediately knew what she was talking about. It really was fantastic.
Suddenly Lily began to giggle. He looked over at her with a raised brow. "You've got frosting on your chin," she teased.
"What?" he mumbled
Before he could move to wipe it off, she began to lean toward him. "Here," she whispered. She swiped the bit of frosting off his face. But when she began to bring it to her lips, he grabbed her wrist.
"Woah!" he said playfully. "That was my frosting!"
"I cleaned it off," she argued with a smile.
"Not the point," he protested. He pulled her finger to his own lips. Giggling, she attempted to pull away from his hold, but he easily brought the frosting past his lips. He let her go once he'd taken the frosting, giving her a smirk.
"You jerk," she retorted. But her laugh gave away her false anger.
Scorpius just continued to smirk as he leaned forward to kiss her. Her lips parted before his, allowing his tongue to sweep past and brush against her own. He could taste the lingering chocolate from her bite of cake. It had never tasted better.
When she pulled away from their kiss, her tongue brushed across her own lips, setting his insides on fire. "Taste good?" he teased lightly.
She gave him a smile. "Even better." Then she kissed him again. This one was much more urgent, and it was warmer. His body felt like it was on fire. He moved his hands to her hips, pulling her a little closer. He felt his blood racing in his veins, and his mind began to spin and yet fade away.
But he quickly pulled away, not wanting to lose himself and do something stupid just because of his hormones. But then their talk at the Burrow swirled in his mind. He shook it off. That wasn't the point of this. This date was just about them spending time together, and both of them forgetting the stress of their lives and families.
He cleared his throat, which sounded low and rough. He wasn't sure if he trusted his voice, but he needed a distraction. "Um, you know they left me a note telling me that I needed to show you the one upstairs room they fixed up," he commented lightly, trying to seem casual. "I wasn't allowed to look at it unless it was with you, apparently."
She gave him a look of confusion and curiosity. "What did they do?"
He wished he knew. "They didn't say," he answered. He stood up from his seat, and she followed suit.
"Ok. Lead the way then," Lily insisted. She followed behind him as he led her upstairs. She was quiet, and so was he. Scorpius couldn't stop himself from worrying a little. Did she think the reason he brought her out here was so that they'd be alone? Well . . . well that had been the reason, but sex hadn't been his intention. Not that he'd be against that either. But was it a good idea?
Scorpius stopped outside the door. He tapped on it lightly. "It's this one," he stated. He opened it, and froze. He was going to kill them…
The room was a large bedroom. The floors, unlike everywhere else, were polished wood. The walls looked red, but it was hard to tell. It was dim in the room, lit up only by what had to be a hundred red, white, and pink scented candles. Well maybe they were scented candles. The flowery smell could also be from the hundreds of scattered rose petals.
But what really made him want to shake his head, and his friends, was the oversized bed that they had placed right in the middle of the room. They couldn't have been more obvious if they'd tried.
"I'm going to kill those guys," he muttered. He would kill Justin first, for being conniving enough to convince Scorpius of their innocence.
Lily stepped further into the room, looking around. It made him feel nervous. "Why?" he heard her inquire softly. "I like it."
Scorpius hesitated. She liked it? She didn't think it too forward or . . . well obvious? Again, their conversation rolled in his head, the image of that pink little potion, and the sound of the certainty in her voice. "Really?"
She turned to look at him, and again, there was no uncertainty in her eyes. He could see the same nervousness that he felt, but she seemed so sure in whatever it was that she was thinking. "Yeah, I really do."
He wasn't an idiot. He knew what she was subtly hinting at. And the idea of them taking that step . . . of having sex, it made him a little nervous. It wasn't something he'd been planning for today, and now that he was being confronted with it . . . Well he was way too excited at the prospect. He wanted it, more than anything.
Scorpius softly closed the door, but the click seemed to echo around them. He gulped silently, his blood hot under his skin. "Lily, I need you to be absolutely sure about this," he mumbled. The last thing he wanted to do was make her uncomfortable, or hurt her, no matter how harshly his hormones rushed through him.
She walked back towards him, and gently placed a hand on his chest. He was sure she could feel how fast his heart was beating. "I am sure." Scorpius felt another rush of warmth, and his hormones were alight. "I meant what I said, and I'm ready for this." She paused for a moment. "Are you? I mean . . . is this something that you want to do?"
He almost laughed. There was nothing he wanted more at the moment, and his body was screaming at him for even hesitating. But . . . well there was that irrational fear, no matter how stupid he knew it was. "I don't want to hurt you," he admitted. "But I know that I can't avoid that. No matter how I approach this, I'm going to hurt you."
"Scorpius, it's the way things are," she pointed out. "And I'm willing to go through the pain of it."
He took a deep breath. "I've never done this before, Lily." He had no idea what he was doing. And he wanted to give her every chance to think and back out if she wanted to. The other part of him felt like an idiot for not jumping at this chance.
She laughed softly. "Well neither have I," she pointed out. "So, why not go at this together."
He almost smirked at her teasing tone. "I guess," he quipped. He repressed the urge to just kiss her. Pushed back the desire to forget about everything but his hormones and releasing the tension and arousal that was building.
She placed her hands on his cheeks, her skin warm on his. He heard his heart beating in his ears when she brought her lips just centimeters away from his own. "Then relax," she murmured. He couldn't stop himself from leaning down to kiss her then. While he tried to take it slow, his blood and hormones were rushing, all heading south and making his pants feel a few sizes tighter. He wrapped one arm around her, the other burying itself into her hair.
He began to lose himself in the feel of her lips, soft against his own. It was like a gentle heat was wrapping around him, relaxing him. She pulled away from the kiss, and took hold of his hands. She pulled him further into the room, closer to the obnoxiously large bed in the middle of everything.
Lily let him go, and he watched as she unclasped the Slytherin pendant from around her neck, placing it on one of the bedside tables. She looked at him again before moving to sit on the bed, and he felt his heart beat a little harder at the look of desire in her own eyes, one that mirrored his own.
He moved to the edge of the bed, but stopped to pull his sweater off. His body felt too hot anyways. Once he dropped the fabric to the floor, he locked eyes with her again. He almost smirked at the tiny shade of pink that blushed over her cheeks. He climbed onto the bed, moving closer to her. Gently, he brought his hands to her cheeks, letting his fingers brush across the pretty blush that continued to rest there.
He kissed her softly. The more relaxed he became, the more he wanted to make this last. And part of him in the distance of his mind kept reminding him to make sure she didn't feel rushed or nervous.
She took a gentle hold on his hands once more, and he felt his heart skip when she brought them to the hem of her shirt. His fingers brushed against a bit of exposed skin on her side, sending a spark through his spine. Slowly, partially to enjoy it but also to give her a chance to stop him, he took hold of the hem, and began to pull her shirt up. She helped him pull her shirt off, and he dropped it off the side of the bed.
He took in a steadying breath before moving the both of them more towards the middle of the bed. She reached for him, pulling him down closer to her. He felt the familiar rush when his stomach brushed against hers. He felt those little nerves prick at his skin. While this was not the first time he'd seen her without a shirt, it was the first time with the intent to see even more.
Making sure to hold his weight on his arms, and not press too heavily on her, he brushed his lips across her throat, just barely feeling her pulse beating under her skin. He nipped gently there, and loved the tiny gasp that he heard leave her lips. Immediately, he soothed the tiny red mark.
He almost moaned at the feel of her hands as they moved along his back, kneading gently and relaxing every knot in his muscles. Knowing she was sensitive, he brought his own hand to her side, massaging gently. The soft moan that passed through her lips burned into his memory.
He let his hand wander down, his fingers never really leaving her skin. He pulled his lips away from her, sitting back on his knees. He glanced down briefly at the skirt she wore, but then locked eyes with her again. His heart beating with excitement and nerves, he slipped her skirt down her legs and dropped it to the floor.
It was then that he pulled his eyes away from her own, and looked over the newly exposed skin. He forgot to breathe for a moment as his eyes trailed over her. As always, she was absolutely beautiful. Her legs were toned from Quidditch, her skin was fair, if not just a little lightly tanned from all the time she spent outside. He couldn't help but linger at the simple knickers she wore. Simple, but it made his chest and his pants tighten.
"Fuck," he muttered under his breath. His mind seemed to blank, the only word coming to mind was beautiful. He caught her eyes again. The same nerves and excitement he felt reflected in her eyes, and her cheeks were still stained a lovely pink. He leaned forward again, biting gently at her earlobe. "I sometimes wonder if you understand just how beautiful you are."
He kissed her again, her lips parting under his own. He took this kiss slower, taking the time to memorize every part of her. She moaned softly as she kissed him feverishly, but just as slowly. He felt her fingers drawing unknown shapes into his abdomen and chest, making him want to shiver. Then one of those hands moved to tangle through his hair and massage his scalp. He almost groaned with absolute delight. Did she know how good it felt when she did that?
He pulled away from the kiss, but trailed down to her throat once again, unable to help himself from making mark after tiny mark on her skin. As his lips trailed further down, he brought his hand from her hip up to cup her breast over her bra. Her light gasp brushed over his ear. He groaned into her shoulder before sucking on a small patch again, most likely leaving another small mark.
The feeling of her hands moving across the back of his shoulders was soft, her skin warm. In response, he moved his lips lower, leaving another kiss on her collarbone before biting a tiny patch of skin just above her bra. He slipped his hand under her, his fingers skimming across her back, until he finally found what he was looking for.
He ran his finger over the small clasp of her bra, feeling his heart hammering in his chest. This was new for them. Yes, he'd seen her in only a bra, and yeah, he'd even slipped his hand under her bra a few times. But he'd never actually made a move to remove it completely. The eagerness he felt in his blood was overwhelming.
He rested his forehead on her shoulder, his own breathing a little heavy. "Lily, are you sure?" he asked again.
"Mm-hmm," she hummed in response as her fingers trailed to his back, kneading gently. He gulped back a moan at the wonderful feeling, and then moved his fingers over the clasp of her bra. He fumbled with it a little on his first try to undo the seemingly simple clasp, but thankfully got it right on his next try.
He moved his head away from her shoulder, and brought his fingers to the now loose straps. Anticipation welled in his veins, but he ignored it as he pulled the straps down her arms. When he finally pull her bra off completely, he momentarily stopped breathing, and felt the arousal tighten in his groin.
Maybe it was cliché, but perfect was the only word that really came to mind. He'd always thought that she wasn't too big, nor too small. Her breasts fit nicely in his hands. She looked as beautiful as he'd always imagined and dreamed.
He brought his eyes up to look at her, but her own eyes were closed. "Open your eyes, Lily," he whispered softly. Was she actually embarrassed? He'd never seen Lily not confident in herself and her looks. She modeled for Merlin's sake!
Slowly her eyes opened, and he gulped silently at the sight. There were a bit of nerves there, but for the most part, all he saw was that gentle look of love that she often sent his way. He moved forward to brush his lips against hers. "Don't hide from me," he murmured. Then he kissed her softly, trying to convey every bit of love and passion he felt.
He moved his hand back to the swell of her breast, and he almost groaned at the warmth of her skin under his hand. She moaned into their kiss, allowing him to brush his tongue across her lips before slipping past them again.
He couldn't help but twitch initially when he felt her nails trailing along his sides. She paused and drew an unknown shape into his skin, making him groan quietly. But then he tensed a little when he felt her hands move to the top of his jeans. He felt his entire body jolt in his skin when her hand brushed against his erection.
He buried his face into her neck, groaning into her skin as he marginally tightened his hold on her. She moaned in return. "You drive me insane," he muttered, his breaths now coming in slightly ragged pants. He brought his lips down to the swell of breast, feeling her heart beat gently under his lips.
He nipped her skin gently, then sucked. He didn't care if he left a mark, especially here. His own heart resided there. He felt another jolt when her nails scratched into the skin of his abdomen, just above his jeans. He brought his hand back to her breast, knowing by now what felt good to her, and where she was sensitive.
She moaned softly, which was music to his ears. But then she arched into him, and he sucked in a sharp breath when she brushed against his manhood again. He moved his lips to make another mark in response.
Scorpius sucked in another small breath when he felt her unbuttoning his jeans. He felt every move of the zipper, making his heart hammer under his ribs. He paused in his actions when her hand pressed even more firmly against him as she pulled the zipper down completely.
Lily pulled her hand away from the zipper, and began to try and tug his jeans down his legs. But she began to struggle with it for a second, so he pulled away from her and began to take them off himself. As he did, she reached up and pressed a light kiss against his jawline. He quickened his pace, trying to get his pants off quicker as her lips trailed up to nip at his earlobe. Then she sucked on it lightly, and he thought he'd tear his pants as they finally came off completely.
He growled as he finally threw the blasted pants onto the floor. He moved one his legs back between her own again, his knee brushing against her inner thigh before pressing against her knickers. She gasped, her breath brushing hotly by his ear. She brought her hands to his cheeks, forcing him to look fully at her before she kissed him hard. He almost groaned when her fingers raked through his hair.
He moved his hands down to her hips, squeezing gently before moving one to her thigh. He parted her legs a little more, allowing himself to settle between them completely. But he felt her muscles tense under his hand. He broke their kiss, placing small and comforting kisses along her jaw as he made his way toward her ear.
"Are you sure about this beautiful? You really want to do this?" he asked. Part of him regretted ever putting doubt in her mind, but the feeling of her tensed under his fingers made him nervous. If she was having second thoughts, he didn't want her to stay silent. It would be just like Lily to not say anything. But he wanted to take away any nerves she had, any fears she had. Scorpius wanted her to know and feel just how much he loved her.
"Yeah, I'm sure," she whispered, a surprising amount of certainty in her voice. She relaxed under him, which comforted him as well.
He placed a gentle kiss at the side of her neck, hoping to keep her relaxed as he moved his hands to her knees. He ran his thumb along her skin as he pulled her closer to him. But once his clothed erection brushed against her panties, his own body tensed as she moaned. He could feel a wetness as he pressed against her harder, and it almost made him tremble. He berated himself in his head. Such a simple touch should not affect him this much. Not if he wanted to last long enough to give Lily every ounce of pleasure she deserved for her first time.
For the first time in his life, Scorpius wished he'd listened more to Rex's stories about each little tryst he had, or had talked with his father even. Because while he knew where Lily was sensitive, and what made her feel good, he had never gotten this far. And now he wasn't completely sure what was going to feel good for her and what wouldn't.
Trying not to seem nervous, he pushed along on instinct. He'd just do what he'd always done when they'd started dating. Just pay attention to her reactions to what he did, and pray for the best. Not the best option, but the only one he had at the moment.
He ran his hands up her legs, slowly making his way for her knickers. He bit back a moan of his own as her hands kneaded the muscles of his shoulders. It relaxed him, and helped to ease the tension he was beginning to feel in his nervousness.
When his fingers edged long the bottom of her knickers, he moved them to wet spot he'd felt moments ago. And as soon as he'd gently pressed there, he felt her tense and a moan passed through her lips.
"Scorpius!"
Scorpius glanced up at her, his arousal tightening in his stomach at the sound of his name at her lips, and the desire staining her voice. He rubbed his fingers a bit more firmly against her, eliciting another moan.
That boyish eagerness gripped him again, and he brought his hand up to the hem of her panties. But then he paused. This was the only other piece of fabric that kept him from seeing his girlfriend completely naked for the first time.
Scorpius looked at Lily as her eyes fluttered open to look back at him. She was an intoxicating sight with her dark red hair a bit messier than usual, her eyes dark with desire, and a pink tinge staining her cheeks. Her tongue swept across her lips, and he wanted nothing more than to do the same.
"Go ahead," she insisted softly.
Taking her cue, he slipped his fingers under the hem and pulled them down her legs, all the while keeping his eyes locked with hers. He dropped them off the side of the bed with the rest of their clothes. But then he moved back to sit on his knees, and let his eyes run over her completely for the first time.
Scorpius took in a few deep breaths as he tried to concentrate. His boxers were feeling impossibly tight, his entire body felt hot, and it was almost like adrenaline was running through his veins. He had to slow down before he got ahead of himself. Make this last. Make it perfect. That's what he'd promised. That's what she deserved.
He brought his eyes up to lock with hers once again, and felt himself relax a little at what he saw. While the pink blush was still lingering on her cheeks, her normal confidence returned to her eyes, and she seemed to have completely relaxed under him. It was almost like the nerves he'd seen just moments ago were gone.
Resting his weight on his arms, he leaned down to kiss her lightly. "Beautiful," he whispered against her lips. He couldn't tell her that enough. From how she looked to that confidence in her eyes, she was absolutely beautiful to him.
He moved his hand lower again, grazing his fingers against her skin until he reached her inner thigh. Without even touching her, he could feel the heat radiating from her. And once he finally touched her, he almost gulped at how wet she really was. He felt her shudder lightly as she gasped into their kiss. Feeling a bit emboldened, he slipped a finger inside of her with a gentle thrust.
She broke their kiss immediately. "Scorpius!" she moaned. Scorpius groaned quietly at the sound of her moaning his name. He looked for any trace of pain or discomfort in her face or eyes. But he was happy to find only a growing desire and arousal that matched his own.
While part of him was still a little nervous that he'd screw something up or hurt her, he let himself be encouraged by the small pleasured sounds that escaped her lips, and the pink blush that was spreading further along her cheeks.
He kept a steady pace as he pumped his finger in and out of her. At one thrust she gave a particularly sharp but soft moan that rang through his veins. She was so warm around him, but incredibly tight. Part of him couldn't help but imagine that if she was this tight around his finger, how tight she would be once…
Scorpius groaned into her shoulder, trying to push the thought away. All it did was make him want to move this along. But preparing her was much more important than his prick at the moment, although it was starting to become a tad painful with the amount of aroused pressure that was building in his groin.
He added another finger, hoping that the better he prepared her for the eventual intrusion of his body, the less it might hurt her when it happened. While she initially tensed, he pressed chaste and gentle kisses along her the column of her throat, hoping to relax her. He himself felt a little relaxed at the feeling of her pulse under his lips.
But then it was his turn to tense when he suddenly felt her hand pressing against his erection, his boxers the only thing separating skin-to-skin contact. He took in a hiss of breath, his shoulders hunching slightly. "Fuck, Lily," he groaned, unable to stop himself from thrusting his hips lightly into her palm.
He felt his head spin a little when she squeezed him gently. A low growl passed his lips. He thought his body was going to burst into flames at this new feeling. Even with fabric between them, nothing felt as heavenly as her hand on him. His own hand had never felt even a fraction of how he felt now.
When her hand moved to pull his boxers down, he immediately moved to help her. He struggled for a moment in his haste, but finally kicked the bloody things off. When he turned back to her, she was looking at his length, her blush now a deep red color on her cheeks, and he could see some of those nerves returning to her eyes.
He moved his lips to place a small kiss on her cheek. "Lily?" he whispered near her ear.
Merlin please don't back out! His mind screamed and prayed. But he focused more on her, waiting for her to say or do something. He tried not to fidget, now feeling a little self-conscious. Was . . . was there something wrong with him? He glanced down at himself momentarily before looking back at her, trying to figure out what she was thinking. He'd never really paid too much attention to the whole size factor, but he'd always considered him to at least be the average size for any normal bloke. Was that something that mattered to her?
He ignored that thought. Lily wasn't the kind of girl to care about something so superficial. But then why wasn't she saying anything to him?
Before he could say anything, he felt her hand touch him again. But this time, there was no fabric between them. He tensed. While his body already felt like fire, her hand was warm. Like a gentle heat. And her skin was incredibly soft, which was something he'd noticed before of course. But it felt even better down there.
He choked on a moan when her hand closed around him, and gently pumped once. "Oh fuck," he muttered. Why was this not something they'd done before? Why hadn't he been selfish and tried to get her to do this earlier in their relationship?
But then she began a steady rhythm with her hand, and his answer hit him like a brick. Shit, do not cum early! You have more self-control than this! Actually he was proving to have no self-control at all. Lily was successfully able to take his self-control and break it like a quill between her fingers.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck," he moaned into her shoulder. He groaned again when he felt her lips on his jaw, placing a multitude of small and yet intoxicating kisses there.
Merlin this feels so fucking good! Shit I am not going to last much longer! With that thought, he immediately grabbed her hand, effectively stopping her. His body felt like it was about to explode. At this rate, he wouldn't last a second inside her.
She locked eyes with him then, and Scorpius brought her hand to his cheek. A moment. He just needed a moment to calm down and regain his self-control. He kissed her palm, then interlocked their fingers as he looked at her.
Merlin. She was absolutely beautiful. That blush had finally dulled, if just a little. But it perfectly highlighted how fair her skin was beneath it. Her eyes were a shade darker due to the desire there, but the amount of love and passion he found there spread a pleasant warmth through his own heart.
He kissed her quickly, although in no way chastely. And he hoped that he was able to convey every bit of love and affection he felt for her. "Do you trust me?" he murmured once he'd pulled away from her lips.
She nodded immediately, not a bit of uncertainty in her eyes. "With my life," she stated before kissing him briefly. "I love you."
A small smile immediately graced his lips at her words. "As I you," he replied. He kissed her cheek. "I'm sorry," he mumbled, wishing that his apology would be able to make up for how much this might hurt her. But he knew that was unlikely.
He felt that anxious anticipation grip him again as he brought himself to her entrance. He paused for a brief moment, taking in a much needed deep breath. Then he kissed her deeply as entered her.
Oh shit.
Fuck she felt so warm, and so tight, and he wasn't even fully in her yet! Merlin he had no self-control when it came to her! He stilled, needing to regain himself, but also to look at her. "Just tell me when to stop," he insisted, although he prayed she wouldn't.
He heard the deep breath she pulled into her lungs before she responded. "Keep going."
Scorpius hesitated, but then shook away his nerves. She had been right before. Nothing could stop this from being at least a bit painful for her. The way things worked, as she always worded it. So he pulled back a little bit, then kissed her as he fully entered her.
Lily broke the kiss immediately with a gasp. Scorpius froze. Part of him froze because he knew she was hurting, and he didn't want to make it worse. The other part of him was in awe that this was actually happening, and how amazing it felt. She was wet, and warm, and incredibly tight around him. It was like she'd set his nerve endings on fire as a million sparks of pleasure exploded in his body. His arousal tightened even more, like a pleasurable spring that was waiting to burst.
But then he glanced at Lily, and he felt guilt creep into his heart. She was hurting, and it was so obvious that she couldn't even hide it. Now that he was focusing back on her, he could feel her trembling ever so lightly against him. She was biting her lip hard, and it was turning an even darker shade under the pressure.
He stilled completely as he closed his eyes and rested his forehead on her shoulder. He wouldn't move until she told him to, not wanting to hurt her any more than he already had. But fuck this felt amazing…
"Scorpius," he heard her whisper softly. But he could hear the small edge of pain.
"I'm so sorry," he said immediately, his teeth clenched tight as he tried to ignore the obvious pleasure he felt. "We can stop." Merlin he did not want to stop, be he also did not want to hurt her any more than she already was.
He then felt her hand on his cheek. As always it was soft and soothing, and it grounded him as she forced him to look at her. "Scorpius move," she demanded, much to his surprise. Then she kissed him, and he was immediately sucked in by the love and passion he felt surging from her and into him with that one kiss. As always, it was a comfort.
Being careful and with gentle movements, he pulled away from her before thrusting back in. He bit back a groan. Already this slow pace was sort of killing him. It felt so good, but the slow pace was almost torturous.
She pulled away from their kiss suddenly, and Scorpius feared he'd hurt her more. But she looked him firmly in the eyes, and her voice was stern. "Scorpius, I'm not up for prolonging the pain. Just move faster," she stated.
Well that he could do. But still wanting her to feel as much pleasure as possible, or to at least distract her from the pain, he kissed her roughly, trying to take advantage of every sensitive spot he knew she had. Then he pulled his hips back before slamming into her faster. This time there was no pained sound that left her lip. Instead, it was a surprised, but pleasured moan.
And while just the feeling of being inside her was enough to spur him to a quick pace, that sound leaving her lips drove him further. He worked toward a steady pace, leaving a multitude of kisses and hickeys across her neck. He focused particularly near her pulse and below her ear. Each moan that passed her lips and entered his ears practically made his chest swell with arrogant pride. It also drove him to bring her to an even higher state of pleasure.
With each thrust she drove him crazy. He could feel her nails digging into his shoulders, and each little prick of pain sent tiny jolts to his groin. She was incredibly tight around him, and each time her body seemed to contract around his cock, he thought he'd be thrown over the edge. But it was when she rolled her hips into his, allowing him to delve even deeper, that he feared that he'd cum before he brought her to completion.
"Damn, Lil!" he groaned through his teeth. The pressure seemed to tighten even more in his groin, and he was afraid he was going to explode. He picked up his pace, holding her even tighter to him.
"Scorpius!" she moaned near his ear, with made him moan again in response. He'd never heard her voice hit this slightly higher pitch, nor had he ever heard such desire and arousal in the tone. It was intoxicating, and he wanted to hear it for the rest of his life.
But he could feel the urge to fall off the edge into complete and utter bliss. He sped up his thrusts, wanting to bring her there first. Determined to bring her there first. And as her core seemed to contract and tighten around him more frequently, he hoped that was a sign that he was doing just that. He brought one of his hands to her side, knowing it to be her most sensitive spot. He squeezed and massaged there gently but firmly, and continued to bite and suck at her pulse point.
But finally she seemed to tighten around him almost to the point he thought he'd explode from the pressure and heat. "Scorpius," she moaned, her voice almost cracking a little. ". . . I . . . I'm . . ." She didn't finish the sentence, but Scorpius knew what she was trying to say. He brought his hand to her thigh, bringing her leg up higher and allowing himself to delve deeper inside her.
"Scorpius!" Seconds later he felt her tighten and contract around him fervently, causing his rhythm to miss a beat with the amount of pleasure he felt as she came around him. He regained his rhythm and quickened it, chasing his own orgasm with determination and almost desperation.
Finally, it was like a rubber band had snapped in his body, and an unfathomable pleasure exploded through his veins, his muscles, and mind. "Oh, shit!" he swore as the feeling overtook him. He felt his arms actually begin to tremble under his weight as he rode out his orgasm.
When he stopped moving, his body hot and almost weak, he couldn't help but rest his head onto her shoulder. He breathed in deeply as he let everything sink in.
They'd had sex. It had actually happened. And he couldn't help but smile. Not only had he just been the most intimate he could be with his girlfriend, but she had trusted him with her first time. But at that thought, he placed a gentle kiss on her shoulder.
"Are you ok?" he asked softly.
She didn't answer him for a short moment, but when she spoke she sounded certain, if not a little breathless. "I'm ok." He felt her hand in his hair then, running her fingers through it. In a more slow and gentle way than what they'd just experienced, it felt good. A more gentle pleasure as her nails scraped softly across his scalp and down the back of his neck.
Slowly, and with as much strength as he still had in his body, he lifted himself on his arms. Drained. That was a good way to describe how he felt. Drained in the most fantastical way possible. He looked at her fully. He could see the different hickeys he'd left on her neck and her collarbone. There was no trace of that previous pain in her eyes. But still . . . "Are you sure?" he insisted.
She nodded with certainty. Still being careful, Scorpius pulled out of her and moved to lay beside her. He pulled the blanket up to cover her, mainly for the comfort than the warmth. He watched as Lily rolled onto her side to look at him. That pink blush had finally begun to fade from her cheeks, but there was a tiny tinge that seemed to be lingering on her cheekbones. He brought his hand up to brush him thumb across the pink hue.
"Do you want to head back to school?" he asked, wondering what time it was. Personally, he didn't want to leave the bed. Now that the desire had cooled into a calm pleasure, he felt kind of tired. A nap couldn't hurt, right?
Thankfully, she shook her head. "No. Not even if you carried me," she joked softly.
He gave a smirk as he let his eyes close. "Good, because I don't feel like moving either. So I can't imagine how little you want to move." He could always talk to Uncle Lars later if they slept a little too long. He was sure he'd lie for Scorpius and Lily, vouch for them and mark it down that they came back to school on time.
"We can always sneak back into school later," she mentioned, obviously following his train of thought.
Scorpius moved closer to her, holding her closer to him. "Good plan," he agreed. He felt her relax against him, and listened as her breathing even out and softened. He knew she'd already fallen asleep, or wasn't far from it. He could feel the tendrils of sleep creeping up on himself as well.
"Best Valentine's Day ever," he mumbled to himself with a smile. Best day ever.
