I found an interesting adage today that I had never heard before while I was reading a research paper over Chaucer's Troilus and Criseyde (completely unrelated to this chapter): "A man who lies to his diary would cheat himself at patience." I won't make a chapter about it since it doesn't seem to be a common saying, but all the same, it amazes me how many tidbits of wisdom are just floating around out there.

Chapter 33: The Road to Hell

"Wait, Beat…did I hear you right? YOU got a job?!"

"That's right, yo! I mean, I figured, why not? We get out of school in a week, I need somethin' to occupy my time, and I don't feel like stickin' around here to listen to our parents yap at me."

"No, it's great, really! It's just…you were the last person I expected to actively look for employment…"

"Well, you told me a while back that I needed to have a source of income if I wanted to keep going out and doing stuff with Eri. You were right! That's why this construction gig is gonna be perfect for me! I won't be a burden on my fam and I'll be able to make Eri happy!"

"Well…just be careful, okay? The road to hell is paved with good intentions…and I really don't want this to drag you down."

"It ain't important what the road is made of as long as it's my company that's pavin' it, yo."

"That might just be the smartest stupid thing you've ever said."
