This is one adage I personally like, but simultaneously find to be a major hypocrisy. Still, I've gotten into my fair share of trouble (last night for instance) and I feel the spirit of well-meaning advice is probably more important than the human behaviors that drive others.
Chapter 43: Do As I Say
"So Rhyme, you pretty smart, huh?"
"Well, I like to think so."
"And you always have these intense adlibs, right?"
"Adages, Beat. We're 43 chapters in; you should have learned to pronounce the basic plot point by now."
"Huh?"
"Never mind. What do you want?"
"Well, I was just curious…outta all that advice you've given me and the gang, what's the best advice you have to offer?"
"Well…the smartest advice would probably be to do as I say, not as I do."
"Do as you wha?"
"Okay, like, since I'm only human, you should take my advice without focusing too hard on what I do myself."
"Ohh…wait a sec! I've been doing that since day one!"
"Good point. I suppose for you, you should do as I do, not as I say."
"You pretty deep, yo. I think I'm gonna try to start using adages."
"Oh, dear God…please don't."
