At long last, your friend Crow is proud to present the series finale of No Rhyme, No Reason.
Chapter 75: When it Rains, it Pours
"Wow, Neku! I don't think you've ever actually invited me to come with you to CAT's graffiti. I can totally get where your obsession comes from!"
"I'm not obsessed! I'm just…okay, maybe I'm a bit obsessed. You can't blame me though. Just look at the vividness of the colors, the consistent contrast between images and words, the emotion it stirs up inside you. It's like a bunch of Noise trapped inside visual clutter that wrenches out the very essence of existence."
"Wow, Neku…you know, you're pretty cute when you talk like this."
"S-shut up."
"Hehe!"
"…"
"What's the matter, Neku?"
"Well…I actually didn't call you over here just to look at CAT's artwork."
"You didn't?"
"No…truth be told, there was another piece of graffiti I wanted to show you."
"You really are a nerd! Hehe…wait…oh my god…"
"Do you like it?"
"Neku…it's incredible, but this picture…is that…Mr. Mew?"
"…"
"AH! N-Neku, it moved!"
"…"
"And you're moving in sync with him…Neku, what's going on."
"Shiki…I never thought I'd meet a girl I'd want to spend my life with."
"Oh my god…"
"Before you came into my life, I didn't know what happiness was. It's not an exaggeration to say that I was pretty happy with the idea of dying. Who knew that actually dying would be the best thing to ever happen to me?"
"Neku…what are you saying?"
"Shiki, if I had to die just to find a woman as amazing as you, I know I'd hate myself forever if I blew this second chance I got at a life with you by my side. I want you to always be by my side. I guess what I'm asking is…will you marry me?"
"…"
"Err…Shiki?"
"YES! YES, YES, YES, A MILLION TIMES YES!"
"Oomph!"
"That sounds like a victory tackle to me."
"Joshua!"
"This was a pretty intricate proposal. Imprinting your very feelings into the graffiti that you and your friends came up with….I don't think anyone's ever used it like that before."
"Ay, congrats, yo!"
"Beat! Rhyme! Eri! Everyone's here!"
"Of course we are! Neku wanted us to be a part of this. Congrats, Shiki! God…I'm so happy for you!"
"Thanks, Eri! Rhyme! Why are you crying?"
"BWAHHH! I-it's true what they say – when it rains, it pours!"
"Oh, Rhyme…"
"I'm sorry; I don't mean to cry like this (sniffles). It's just, things are going to change so much from here on out."
"That's probably true, Rhyme, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing."
"What do you mean?"
"I had to change a lot to open myself up to Shiki. I had to change a lot to make friends with you and Beat, and Joshua, and to all the people around me. Change is only bad if you let it be. In reality, it can be one of the best things that ever happened to you."
"That's true, yo. I was just some punkass who didn't give a damn about nothing. But because of you, I changed, Rhyme!"
"I was always perfect."
"Oh, stuff it, Joshua."
"You weren't going to let me finish? Ahem, as I was saying, I was always perfect, but…meeting you guys has made me more perfect."
"Awhh!"
"Who knew the unholy Composer was capable of blushing?"
"Hahaha!"
"We're going to change. We're going to keep changing and growing, but that's not a bad thing. Every tidbit of wisdom you've ever offered hasn't been wasted. You are our reason, Rhyme."
"You guys…"
"Anyway, what are we just sitting around here for? We gotta get out and tell the whole world about Neku and Shiki!"
"Let the proclamations ring through Shibuya, and let every man, woman, and child know that the king and queen have found their throne!"
"Cram it, Mr. H."
"Err, my bad."
"Hey, guys, can you bounce for a little bit? I want to spend just a few moments alone with Shiki."
"Yeah, of course. We'll meet you back at WildKat. Don't keep us waiting too long; the party can't get started without you!"
"Sure."
"…"
"So, Neku, we're alone at last. Did you want to say something to me?"
"No, I just wanted to watch the sun set over the graffiti with you."
"…"
"…"
"It's beautiful."
"Yeah…you really are."
"What?"
"Nothing. C'mon, let's go join our friends."
Author's Note: And that's a wrap! I've had a blast writing this series, even though there were a lot of delays. It's actually the first fanfiction series I've ever actually finished, and I'm thrilled about that. I hope everyone that enjoyed this will follow me and check out some of my other series. I know I lag sometimes, but I would love to make sure all of my series get proper endings, and I will do my best to make that happen. Thanks for reading, and I hope to hear from you on another story. One!
Crow
