…
He was anxious and sweaty, bothered by the sweet fragrance clinging to the frilly covers. There was no escape from it, the scent only intensifying each time he squirmed restlessly, rubbing off on his clothes and rendering him unable to find comfortably on the bed he'd snuck into too many times to count.
Finally Natsu huffed loudly, giving into the unbearable feeling of irritation searing in his veins. He rolled onto his stomach and burying his face in a fluffy pillow, desperately trying to drown out the pleasant humming echoing from the bathroom.
But his attempts were futile, senses heightened by his unique magic.
Like clock-work, his nose twitched, catching the faint scent of rain brewing in the distance. He frowned, wondering how the flimsy scrap of material she laid out early would fair against the cold, wet weather that was sure to come.
Cracking an eye open, the slayer peeped into the bathroom, watching his partner lean into the large vanity mirror as she pinned her hair into a messy bun, exposing neck for the man she'd be seeing later on. The thought made him growled possessively, closing his eye again and smothering his face into the softness of the pillow, aggravated for reasons he dared not acknowledge.
His breath caught when he heard her towel fall, tempted to sneak a glimpse of her voluptuous body as she shimmed into her little, black dress. The faint scratch of the soft material sliding up her thighs reminded him of the dreams he'd had of her…of them…together….
Undressing her…touching her…tasting her…
Natsu stifled a groan, remembering how vivid the last one had been.
He'd woken up hot, sticky and painful hard, dashing and dive into the cracks every time he saw her the next day so he wouldn't say or do anything idiotic to jeopardize their friendship.
Their bound was too important…
But it was becoming next to impossible to ignore the strong feelings he harboured for her and the slayer didn't know how long he could stand aside and smile cheerfully as he watched her in the arms of yet another man.
He stilled when he heard her bare feet pad along the floor towards her bed, wondering if she'd noticed his foul mood already.
"You could at least take of your shoes." Lucy reprimanded, taking a seat beside him and set her heels down on the wooden floor.
"Who is he anyway?" Natsu mumbled irritably, kicking off his sandals and falling onto the covers once again.
"His name's Peter. He's a writer I met at the bookstore the other day." She answered cheerfully.
"His taking me to this really grand….rest…taur… -" A thick vein throbbed on her forehead when her partner began to snore obnoxious, interrupting her midsentence.
"DON'T PRETEND TO SLEEP WHILE I'M TALKING, DUMMY!" The blonde mage fumed, hitting the slayer in the face with a stray pillow and easily provoking him into a fight.
Natsu growl playfully, springing up and tackling Lucy onto the rumpled sheets before she had a chance to strike him twice. The girl began to laugh hysterically, wriggled and kicking when he attacked her sides with mercilessly tickle assault.
"Naaaa-aaat-suuuuu! Waaa-aait! Stop! Cut it ouu-oooohuut! You know I haaate thiiiis!" Her smaller hands followed after his, trying to pry them away from her squirming body.
"Ho? I thought you wanted to fight me?" He grinned mischievously.
"I give! *Hic* I give! I'm *Hic* sorry!" She pleaded in a fit of giggles and sobs, finally managing to stop his relentless torture by linking her fingers with his.
"You win…" Lucy whispered breathlessly.
….
The slayer felt his body heat, excited by the woman subdued beneath him. Her hair tousled and flushed cheeks stirred something dormant inside him like….a thirst? And he couldn't help but lick his suddenly dry lips as he glazed at her heaving body, limp from exhaustion. He brushed a stray lock away from her face and leaning into the curve of her neck, inhaling the heavenly scent he longed to claim and quickly giving in, nuzzling closer.
"Natsu…" He heard her say softly, huskily and laboured like in his dreams.
"I…Hmm…Are you okay?" His eyes snapped open, recoiling immediately and scrambling away as the consequences of the grieve mistake he'd just made dawn on him.
"Sorry, I felt dizzy…" Natsu mumbled, stumbling onto the floor clumsily. He felt his cheeks burn with embarrassment as he fastened on his shoes, unable face her.
"Natsu…" He cringed at the sound of her voice.
His heart thumped loudly in his chest, stinging painfully with the fear of rejection.
"Storms comin', wear a coat." He muttered, crawling over her bed and jumping out the window without a second glance.
.
.
.
"Idiot…" Lucy whispered, covering her flushed face with her hands.
….
"Why are we following Luuu*Gulp*sheey?" Happy asked with a mouth full of fish and the slayer sighed helplessly, preparing an answer that didn't arouse any suspicion of his true feelings.
"Cause I don't trust 'em..." Natsu glowered, walking down the busy street with his blue companion floating beside him.
"He smells suspicious, too many other scents on em'…" The slayer narrowed his eyes, manoeuvring through the crowd effortlessly while he studied the tall man walking alongside his best friend from a good distance away.
"Why does she like these playboy types?" He mumbled to himself, kicking a pebble and scowling in distaste as he evaluated the man's expensive suit and his brushed back, blue hair."
"Slanty eyed daddy long legs looking motherfucker…" Natsu grumbled, staring daggers at the man who dared touch his partner so familiarly, caressing her back as they made their way through the hordes of people.
"Idiot didn't even wear a coat like I told her too…"
"Ne, Natshuuu?" Happy sang cheerfully.
"Yeah bud….?" The fire mage marched on, crossing his arms sternly as he bore holes in the back of Peter's head with his smouldering glare.
"You liiiiiike her!" He giggled.
"Oi! I don't…like Lucy….Just shut up and help me!" The slayer blushed and the feline chuckled, gulping down the last of his fish.
….
"I must say, you've surpassed my expectations, Lady Heartflia." Peter welcomed the blonde with a soft kiss on the back of her hand.
"I didn't think you could possible look anymore lovely than you did the first time we met." His dashing smile graced her knuckles.
"Thanks…" Lucy blushed and smiled sweetly, taken by his charms.
"You can call me Lucy." She chirped.
"You are Lucy of the Heartflia family, are you not?" The man frowned, obviously bewildered having never come across a lady from a wealthy family, who'd asked her suitor to address her so casually on their second meeting.
"It's not a title I'm too fond off…" She answered simply, not wanting to get into such heavy topic of conversation on the first date.
Never divulge too much on the first date…
Men are afraid of overly attached women…
Be mysterious….
She warned herself, following the article on girl-code that she'd read diligently in a magazine the night before.
"Shall we?" He offered her an arm which she gladly accepted, wrapping her hands around the buff upper part of the limb and allowing him to steer the way.
"So, find anything interesting in Magnolia?" Lucy inquired, studying his handsome features discreetly as they engaged in light conversation, strolling unhurriedly to their first destination.
Peter was indeed handsome, well-mannered and intellectual, wrapped in a well-tailored suite like the perfect present, drawing the attention of many women and even a few men.
"Just one..." He smiled as his hand glided along her back, guiding her through the crowd.
…..
"Gondola ride?" Her brown eyes sparkled with excitement, studying the long, pointy vessel bobbing gently in calm waters that reflected the night sky, giving off an illusion of sailing through the stars.
Taking the hand offered, Lucy stepped onto the unsteady platform of wooden boat cautiously, stumbling with her high heels when she tried to balance on one foot. Fortunately her date happened to possess cat like reflexes, circling her waist and steading her against his chest before her ankle twisted.
Blushing furiously, the stellar mage pushed away from the handsome man, thanking him politely and taking a seat on the far end of the boat where she quickly began playing with a loose curl nervously.
"Is this your first time?" The velvety voice purred beside her.
"W-what?" She stammered, misinterpreting his question gravelly.
"On a boat?" Peter raised a perfect brow as the rower began to steer them along the canal.
"Oh, I've been on a boat before, just not one on this river…..which seems a bit strange since I've been living here for a while now."
"Why haven't you?" He pried.
"Well, my partner isn't good with transportation, so it's impossible for me to do these kinds of things."
"Nothings impossible, love. Why not go alone then?"
"Natsu and Happy get really excited about these kinds of things. I'd never enjoy doing it without them." Lucy smiled.
"So you have two partners then?"
"It's a packaged deal." She laughed merrily, leaning over the edge and dipping her fingers into the water.
"Pretty…"She sighed pleasantly, fascinated by the way the ripples on the surface distorted the stars above.
"Not as pretty as you." Peter whispered, glided up the dip of her waist and capturing her hand, pulling her up again, gently.
"I know it's a bit too soon, but…" He cooed seductively, clasping her chin between his fingers and tipping her face towards his, taking the girl by surprise.
"I've been thinking about doing this…." He leaned in, closing the distance between the lips with every word and unfazed by the flustered on Lucy face.
This is perfect….
My first kiss under the stars liked I'd always imagined…
But…
I've always….pictured it with N-
"…ever since I- *Thwack* AHH! Fuck!" The man howled in agony, recoiling from the blonde in pain and cradling his head with his hands…
Yes!
Thank the heavens-I mean…
"Are you okay?" The stellar mage reached out, out of habit and nudging his hands away so that she could inspect the injury.
"Someone…Ahh…Someone hit me… with a rock or something…." He winced, as she pressed over the tender spot, pulling her fingers away and checking for traces of blood.
"Thank goodness you're not bleeding." Lucy's relieved expression vanished when she realized that the man she'd been touchy with was not her hot head partner but her handsome date. She blushed furiously, hunching over, and pretending to search for the guilty object so that she could hid her flushed cheeks.
"Shit….I could have sworn it came from over…." Peter hissed in pain, turning to the direction the attack had come from in hopes of finding the culprit.
*Thwack*
"Owfff! FUCK! I'LL KILL YOU! I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU!" He cursed loudly after been struck by a second pebble from the opposite direction, buckling over and rolling around on the boat's floor.
"Oh my God, are you okay?"
…
He'd switched to trailing them from up high since they'd stepped into the gondola, springing from one rooftop to the next with his scarf pulled up over his nose.
Ninja motherfuckers!
Natsu prowled on all fours, keeping low to slate tiles as he moved stealthily, never breaking his line of observation with the couple floating further down the river.
Don't be touching on my Lucy so casually, you prick…
He growled, glaring at the hand smoothing along his partners hip while she gazed at the stars reflected below, too enthralled by the many reversed constellations to read the intimated gestures of her date.
The slayer froze with anger as he watched the man tip her chin into a more favourable angle, grinding his teeth loudly as the other male dared to move closer and closer towards her plump lips.
Quickly, his hand dove into his pocket, finding one of the large pebbles he'd picked up with Happy earlier.
NINJA FIRE!
Natsu yelled inwardly, setting fire to the smooth rock in his hands and mailing it through the air, landing a direct and to his amusement, audible hit on the man's head.
"Chicken-wuss! I kicked your ass with a pebble!" He chuckled, entertained by the man whining and fussing over what he considered a tiny injury.
HOLY SHIT…..HIS MISSING A PATCH OF HAIR!
Natsu buckled over, slapping his knee and laughing hysterically.
Wait…What? Luce…. "Don't touch him!"
He was stunned, pupils dilating and then narrowing with jealousy.
Shit his looking this way…
The slayer crouched low, backing away from the edge of the roof slowly.
"FUCK! I'LL KILL YOU! I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU!"
Natsu chuckled wickedly, hearing the man shriek in pain a second later. His agonizing screams confirmed that his feline partner had accomplished his part of the mission from the other side of the river.
"Nice shoot Happy!" He pumped his fist in the air, victoriously.
…..
Perched on a wooden bench across the street from the fancy restaurant Lucy had been over the moon about visiting, Natsu watched the couple seated in a booth by the window, laughing and chatting away happily as they both sunk their forks into a shared dessert.
"Ne, Natsu….if Lucy gets a boyfriend does that mean we can't go over and play anymore?" Happy slumped next to his partner sadly.
"We can…just not like we usually do…"
"No more sneaking in when she not home, or raiding the fridge...Or staying over whenever we feel like…" The fire mage sighed heavily, letting the weight of his words sink in.
"But that's not fair, Lucy's was ours first!" The exceed objected fearlessly and slayer chuckled, petting him between the ears affectionately.
"Aye, but you've gotta look at it this way…."
"Would you want some other guy…cat…whatever, visiting your girlfriend and sneaking into her bed?"
"I don't want anyone visiting Carla! Even though she won't accept my fish…."
"Yeah…That's how I feel buddy…" Natsu smiled bitterly, watching the many happy faces passing by.
"But if Lucy's happy, I guess-"
"Gosh! I can't believe his at it again…" A brunette passing by the bench gasped, pointing at someone in the restaurant.
"The bastard…" The redhead at her side snorted.
"This must be the sixth one his lured in this week…" Another girl in the group added.
"Poor girl…" The brunette shook her head sadly.
"She's a slut if you asked me…Letting her boobs hang out like that…" The tiny redhead scowled jealously.
"Probably had so many, she wouldn't mind when his done with- Hey! What the hell are…you…?" She screeched viciously as Natsu grabbed hold of her wrist but her voice died down when she looked up at her attacker, pinned to the spot by the dark expression tainting his features.
"Tell me what you know."
….
"I'm off to the restroom." Lucy pushed her chair back and slipped away from the table drapped with rich reds and pearl whites, doing little to hide her appreciative smile at her date's thoughtfulness when he rose from his chair politely after she'd announced her departure.
The night had been wonderful so far, full of splendour and elegance, reminding Lucy that she was in fact a lady even if not a proper one as many of her guild mates had endlessly reminded her.
Being wined and dined sure beats getting dirty and bruised on a mission.
The girl smiled, though not entirely satisfied with the thought. She walked briskly between the manly rows of tables, hurrying so she could freshen up before Peter walked her home.
Peter, eh?
She sighed.
Although she enjoyed the man's company, something felt amiss, the thrill of the fight perhaps or maybe the adventure its self?
Or the company…?
"Luce!"
She whipped around, believing she had imagined the voice she'd been secretly wishing to hear since its owner left earlier on.
"Natsu…?" She murmured uncertainly, sure that her mind had conjured up her deepest desires.
He looked so….angry, marching towards her as if he would-
"You need to leave…" He stated bluntly, tugging on her wrist and leading her outside.
"What? Natsu! What's gotten into you? I can't just leave in the middle of my date." The blonde complained, whispering hisses and struggling to break free as her heels scraped along the paved sidewalk.
"Just trust me…." The slayer demanded, glancing over his shoulder.
"No!" She blurted out, frustrated and confused, snatching her hand away from her startled partner.
"If you won't give me a reason than don't expect me to follow you."
"Lucy just-"
"It's rude to just leave like this Natsu. Peter's been a perfect gentleman." Natsu cringed at the mention of her date.
"That guy isn't who you think he-"
"I know you threw that rock earlier on…" She knotted her brows angrily.
"You've sabotaged every one of my dates over the last 4 months." She pointed an accusing finger at the slayer who dropped his head shamefully.
"This is different, that guy…His-" He reasoned weakly."
"Let me guess…what is it this time, the colour of his hair?"
"You set my last date alight because you thought he had crabs, punched the one before that in the jaw because you didn't like the shape of his moustache…not forgetting how you tortured that poor guy with the glasses…."
"That goggles bastard stared at you like a fuckin' lecher." Natsu snarled.
"He had extra thick lenses for Mavis sake! The guy was practically blind!" Lucy yelled.
"This isn't a game you know? Dating may not be a big thing to you since you have no interest in women…." He winced at the vile words leaving her lips and she paused suddenly, stunned by what she had said.
"Just go home Natsu…." She turned then, strutting back inside before she spewed anymore angry nonsense. Although some part of her screamed in protest, wishing that he'd take her hand or tell her to wait, he did no such thing. The young man remained silent, watching helpless as she disappeared into the crowed restaurant.
"Shit!" The slayer cursed, kicking up dust angrily.
…
"That guy over there's called Daisuki, the seducer, rumoured to have lured Fiore's most beautiful virgins into his bed." The redhead explained.
"No one really knows how he does it….Some say it's his good looks and his flashy charms." This girl annoyed me, mainly because she insulted Lucy and possible because she looked like a sea turtle…a bitchy, whinny sea turtle with a stick up the a-
"But…" The brunette interrupted.
"But…?" I snapped and the girl flinched skittishly.
Yeah, I was being an ass but I was beyond pissed off at this point.
My partner was on a date with ….a slut!
"There's this girl in my building, who went on a date with him a few nights ago…." This girl reminded me of Mira.
"Since then she won't answer the door or leave her apartment. At first I thought she was really upset after finding out he'd been seeing other women….but now….Helena's a good girl…She'd never…just…you know…" Her unsaid words poisoned my reeling mind.
Fuck….
"You mean…he might have…" I couldn't say it….the disgusting implications caused by her words or rather lack of them.
And he wants to…with Lucy….
"I'll turn him to ash…" I growled protectively, rage boiling in the pit of my stomach.
"Heh, like that's gonna happen. Daisuki is a young master from the capital. I hear he mastered several kinds of martial arts at a young age." The redhead seemed almost….proud?
Man…She slept with him didn't she?
That's why she's been ratting on Luce like a banshee…
Wait…didn't she say Fiore's most beautiful virgins?
She..?
Beautiful…?
Virgin…?
Pfft!
"Ho? Wouldn't be fun if he didn't fight back now would it?" I grinned, excited by the challenge, eager to prove I was stronger to Lucy.
"Happy, go back to Lucy's, it's gonna be chilly soon."
"Aye!" He chirped from the bench behind me, flying of obediently.
Obediently…?
No chance in hell…
He was probably sleepy or hungry…
"That cat….his blue…and the wings…that means you're…." The third girl stammered.
Yes I am batman…
"You're the salamander!"
Wow thanks…I must say this is a first…No one's ever recognized me by seeing Happy first…
"Heh, you're the town wrecker?" The red haired girl teased.
Town wrecker…?
Fuck I hate this chick….
"Look buddy, even if you are a wizard, you should get your friend out of there without making a scene. That restaurant's one of the Major's and unless you'd like to spend the night in jail, giving some drunk pervert a lap dance…." The redhead pointed out cheekily, unfazed like the other flustered girl.
"I get it, no need to make it awkward…" I waved my hands trying to shut her up.
Damn…..Gray said that they strap magic restraints on mages in there…
And Master would flatten me for sure if I destroyed another one of the Major's buildings….
Gotta find another way….
….
"Just trust me…."
The blonde sighed sadly, unable to shake the scaring memory of her best friend's shattered expression when she rejected their bond and walked away from him.
Stupid, stupid Lucy…
I should apologize…
Maybe he'll be there when I get back later…
No, no…I should leave now…
The girl debated, conflicted with guilt and responsibility as she walked towards her table, chewing her thumb anxiously as she approached her blue haired date from behind.
Gosh…Natsu did get a huge chunk out of his hair…
"Pfft!"
Shit, don't laugh…This isn't funny! Natsu did something immature…
Damn this is all because of me…I should stay…Peter's been a sweetheart all night…
I can't just leave!
This is my chance to finally bag a hot boyfriend and free myself of Aquarius's condescending eyes!
She clenched her fists tightly, tears of victory brimming in her hazel eyes.
"Dating may not be a big thing to you since you have no interest in women…."
A pang of guilt struck her heart and the sickening realization of her words slowed her steps.
How would I react if Natsu got himself a girlfriend…?
The stellar mage gulped uneasily.
"No way, right…?" She whispered, shaking the foul thought away and faking a smile as she closed the distance between her and her date. She was about to sneak up behind him and grasp his shoulders when she noticed him drag her refilled cup of coffee across the table.
What's he doing?
"That guy isn't who you think he is…"
Stealing a quick glance in the direction she'd walked off to earlier, Peter eyed her brewed beverage suspiciously, unclasping the large crested amulet adorning his silver ring. The thin plate flipped open, revealing a secret compartment filled with white power that he tipped into the frothy drink impatiently, stirring the hot liquid with his spoon and sliding it back across the table.
"This is differently, Lucy…That guy…His-"
"Disgusting…" He jumped at the sound of her voice, whipping back quickly.
Gomenasai…Natsu…Your always trying to protect me…
"Oh, Lucy…I was wondering how much longer you'd be…" He smiled deceitfully.
"You…." She shook angrily, struggling to compose herself.
"Did you really think you could fool me so easily…?" The blonde hissed.
"Fool you? Is something the matter-" He mumbled as if he didn't follow, faking ignorance like a true con.
"You drugged my coffee!" She erupted angrily, attracting the attention of the guests from the surrounding tables.
"That…err…that's just something to loosen you up…it's nothing really…took some myself…." He looked around nervously.
"Come back to your seat Lucy. You're making a scene." He demanded, masking his anger and embarrassment with a cold smile and reaching out for her, trying to remedy the situation that was quickly spiralling out of his control.
"Asshole!" The girl spat viciously before stomping through the restaurant.
…..
"Ah! Just my luck…" Lucy sighed, shivering and hugging her chest while she hid from the icy rain drops beneath a small blue and white stripped veranda of a closed store.
"I can chance it can't I? I'm already soaked. But these heels in this rain…" She growled.
"Not very ladylike are you, Ojou-sama?" She froze, wide eyed, paralyzed by the venom in the voice behind her.
"You little tart….Did you really think I'd let you off the hook for embarrassing me like that?" She winced as her former date crush her wrist painfully and yanked her around to face him.
"Do you know who I am?" He roared, blue hair messy and dripping and his eyes blood shot red.
"Let go, I don't want to hurt you…" Lucy stared the man down fearlessly, reaching for her key tucked away in a pouched strapped to her thigh.
"Hurt me?" Peter threw his head back and laughed maniacally.
"It's time for you to pay up little girl…" He grinned deviously, licking his lips as he eyed the wet dress clinging to curves.
"You're disgusting…" He was truly evil, a malicious predator hidden behind a prince charming façade.
"Get the hell off me, you freak!" Her voice cracked, fear overwhelming her courage as he drew closer, repulsing her damp sink with his tainting breaths.
"Oh, not to worry love, I'll get off so-*TWACK*" He choked on his words, biting his tongue as a large fist cracked into the side of his jaw, sending him stumbling backward, shrieking femininely and blinded with pain as he tripped over his own feet and fell hard onto the street and underneath a thick curtain of rain.
…..
"The fuck…" Daisuke winced, nursing his bruised cheek and spitting out some blood.
"Who the hell are you?" He hissed, fingers bracing on wet stone as he tried to stand up again and defend himself from the male standing between him and his former date protectively.
"Ho? Was my fist not enough?" The man's dark eyes burned with murderous intent making him coward under his frightening glare, crawling back in terror.
"Maybe I should roast you alive…" His fists then burst into flames, starling the man crumpled on the floor as they burned rebelliously under the heavy rain that splashed around them.
"Come on fucker, get up! Fight me!" The salmon haired man grinned menacingly, baring his sharp teeth like a blood thirsty predator.
"What the hell are you?" Daisuke rephrased his question, paralyzed by the monstrous aura surrounding the burning man.
"That's enough Natsu…I'm fine….I'm fine…" Lucy walked into the rain and tugged on his sleeve, resting her head on his shoulder and stroking his arm soothing, coaxing him with her soft gestures.
For a second it seemed as if he would ignore he request and lash out violently, tearing her attacker limb for limb but he sighed heavily, surprising her former date when he extinguished his flames and stripped off his red coat so he could wrap it around the shivering girl.
"I told you to wear a coat didn't I?" His eyes softened and his tone much gentler than before.
"Let's go home before you catch a cold." He rubbed her back comfortingly, pulling her into his side and shielding her from the rain.
"Hmm…" She sniffed.
"And you…" He turned, glaring at the stunned man still clutching his injured jaw.
"Get the fuck out of town, you worthless piece of shit!" He commanded before leading the girl down the street with his arms wrapped around her possessively.
"Natsu…is a guy?" Daisuke stared after the departing pair in utter bewilderment.
…
The walk home had been painfully silent even with the deafening storm and the thunderous clouds shaking the purple sky.
"I'm sorry…" Lucy mumbled faintly, fisting into the material of Natsu's black vest and huddling deeper into his side. Her tears burned a signature trail down her cheeks, hot and salty unlike the many icy droplets of rain, staining her face with runny mascara.
"Why don't you go take a bath?" Natsu murmured softly, but she only sniffled burying her face in his scarf and shivering violently as her unlocked the door to her toasty apartment.
"You're really cold…" He whispered, moving her inside and stroking her wet fringe away from her face.
"Gomen ne, Natsu..." She hiccupped.
"Would you quit it already? You did nothing wrong, weird-o." Natsu sighed, pulling her into her arms.
"But I *Sniff* and you still came *Hic*…"
"Stop apologizing…"
"And stop crying while you're at it….." He scolded a little too harshly making the girl sobbed louder.
"Hate it when you crying, Lucy…." He whispered gently, tucking her head under his chin.
.
.
.
*Sniff*
Lucy blinked, startled by a fat, wet tear that had splashed on her cheek.
"Natsu are you-" She tried pushing him away worriedly but he held on tighter, pressing her up against the wooden door.
"Natshuuu, you fat bastard!"
"You made Lucy cry." Happily padded down the narrow hallway as fast as his little paws could carry him, kicking Natsu in the shin and then hooking his paws around Lucy's leg.
"Sorry…" Natsu sniffed, pulling away from the blonde mage and rubbing a teary eye with the back of his hand.
"Don't apologize dummy, you didn't do anything." Lucy knocked him in the head with her knuckles playfully, breaking into a smile at the sight of his lost, defenceless look that she found all too adorable to resist.
"Then why are you crying?" Happy asked, staring up at her with big, teary eyes.
"I…I don't really know…relieved mostly but sad…because…" She trailed off, glancing at Natsu uneasily, apologetic for what she had said early but he grinned warmly, banishing the dull ache in her chest.
"We get sad when you're sad…." Happy's voice quacked.
"There, there…" Lucy smiled, kneeling down and petting his head while her clung to her leg and sobbed.
"Come here…" She cooed, circling his tiny body with her hands and lifting him into the air.
"Everything just dand-" Her sentence died in her throat along with all her tears.
"SNOT!"
"There's snot on me!" She shrieked, dancing around the room idiotically and trying to kick of the slimly string of mucous stretching between her ankle and the feline's nose.
"*Sniff* That's really gross, Luce…" Natsu made a repulsed noise, trying hard to hide his amusement.
"Aye…" Happy added nonchalantly, smiley daftly as the girl swung him by the trail.
"DIE!" She cursed throwing Happy into the slayers face.
…
"You're really warm…." Lucy noted, pressing her forehead into the slayer's.
"I'm not sure if you have a cold or not." She sighed, letting his pink bangs fall over his eyes again and plopping down next to him on the floor beside her bed.
"I'm fine. I haven't had a cold since I was a kid…." Natsu ensured her with his famous lopsided grin.
"Lucky you…" The blonde blushed, looking away quickly.
"How was your bath?" He asked.
"Great!" She streached her arms and peered out the window behind them.
"The storm doesn't look like it'll lighten up anytime soon..." She thought aloud, watching the rain beat down outside.
"You two should take a bath as well."
"But I don't wanna…." Natsu whined.
"Can't I just dry myself off?"
"No fires in my apartment!"
"But-"
"My landlady went crazy the last time you set Happy on fire."
"But Lu-"
"He made holes in the walls…"
"Fine, I'll just dry my stuff off here…." He stood, stripping of his vest and throwing it over the heater attached to the wall.
"N-natsu…W-what are you doing?" The girl stammered, blushing hard when he turned her way, giving her an exclusive view of his naked upper body.
"I need something to put on when I'm done, that's if you don't have a problem with me sleeping next to you in my birthday suit." He sighed tiredly, pulling off his scarf and tossing it on the bed.
"I'll dry that one by myself…" He mumbled.
"Eh? Wait, you're not sleeping in my bed."
"That's cruel Luce, its pouring outside and the floors really cold."
"You never feel cold!" She blurted loudly, stunned like a deer in head lights as she watched him unbuckled his belt and popped the buttons on his white pants, sliding it down his legs and draping it on the free side of the heater.
"Damn, these are soaked too…" He felt around his boxers, patting his ass and sighing dramatically as he inspected his damp hand.
"Well, these have to go…" Natsu pouted, thumbing down the band of his underwear.
"Natsu don't you dare-" She "eeped" when the slayer dropped his boxers causally.
"Pervert!" Lucy made covered her flushed face, hugging her knees to her chest.
"What? You've seen me naked tons of times." He grinned slyly, noticing the cracks between her fingers.
"Peeper!" He teased, strutting off butt nude towards the bathroom.
"Aye!" Happy agreed from the bed.
"AYE JA NAI!" Lucy wailed.
