Disclaimer: I don't own Twilight and I sadly never will.
A/N: So I had a special personal kind of joy from writing this chapter. Maybe it's because Charlie went in like didn't pull any punches, and I think I enjoyed making Tanya sweat (figuratively of course). Also I don't know about Bella honestly I let that chapter write itself so she might be a witch she might not I haven't quite figured it out yet, but when I do y'all will be the first to know.
"I'll see you here tomorrow at 10 a.m. sharp. Goodnight." Charlie says as he gives me a curt nod before closing the door.
I never knew one sentence could strike such fear in my heart. I quickly shake that thought as I make my way to Bella's room to enjoy one more night with my angel before I possibly meet my untimely demise by the hands of her father. I know in my head I'm probably blowing this out of proportion, but how would you feel if your girlfriend's father, who's the police chief, said that to you?
As I gracefully hop through my beloved angels' window I quickly wipe all thought of what her father said from my mind and instead enjoy every sound she makes while I pull her into my arms as she settles in for the night.
Tanya's P.O.V.
I'm standing outside of Bella's house at 9:58 waiting two minutes before I knock on the door. Charlie said to be here at 10 o'clock sharp and I have no clue if showing up early would be a good sign or not.
I quickly pulled out of my thoughts as the front door flies open and I see Charlie standing there looking very unamused. "Why have you just been standing out here for the past 5 minutes?" How in the hell did he even know I was here? I never heard him by the window or anything.
"Well you said to be here at 10 a.m. sharp and I didn't know if showing up early would be acceptable sir." I'm seriously not trying to give Charlie a reason to dislike me more than he probably already does.
"Well come inside so we can talk." Charlie says as he moves out of the way of the door so I can walk inside. "Take a seat at the kitchen table." He says as he closes the door and follows close behind me.
Honestly if I was human I would be terrified that he was going to literally stab me in the back or something equally traumatic. I quickly take a seat and watch as Charlie takes the one across from me.
"How are you today?" Charlie asks as he takes a seat and laces his fingers together in front on him. I can imagine him doing this during an interrogation.
"I'm quite well. Thank you. How are you sir?" I ask trying to shake the nerves I feel under his intense gaze.
"Well considering I just found out that the Cullen's are back in town, and my daughter has a girlfriend who happens to be older than her I would say I'm holding up rather well. I mean my mood isn't quite the best but I'm sure you will do your best to correct that won't you Tanya." This man is giving me such mixed signals and I don't know what the hell to do.
"Well the Cullen's returning what's well received in my family either, and I will try to change your opinion of me. I would prefer if you liked me since I plan to be with your daughter for a long time." I truly hope that it's forever if at all possible.
"Why not? They are your father after all. You should be happy to see them." Charlie says as he glares at me waiting for my answer.
"They are my extended family, but after what they did to Bella I honestly do not wish to acknowledge them as such. They claimed Bella was a part of their family, but the first chance Edward got he talked all of them into leaving her behind. I find that unforgivable." I wait as Charlie slowly nods his head as he processes my answer in his head. He's probably finding ways to pick apart or use something I said against me.
"So the first chance you got would you leave me daughter?" He asks as he leans forward in his seat.
"I would never leave Bella unless she asked me to go and even then I still probably wouldn't. Bella has becomes such an important part of my life." I don't even want to imagine how painful it would be if Bella asked me to leave her. I would like to believe I could honor her wishes if that's what she truly wanted, but I honestly don't think I could.
"You say that now, but I'm pretty sure that boy would say the same thing if I asked him." I have to fight back the growl I feel bubbling in my throat as I think about Edward talking to Charlie in a pathetic attempt at winning my angel back.
"I would never allow the thought of what Edward did to Bella cross my mind let alone act on it." I say as I clench my hands in my lap trying to control myself.
"So Tanya I think by now you know why I have invited you here today." I try and keep eye contact with Charlie, but damn it does he make it hard and having to talk about Edward right off the bat isn't helping.
"I believe I'm here so we can discuss my relationship with Bella sir." I feel myself starting to fidget in my seat and I feel my anger magically disappear as I think about my beautiful angel who's sadly at school right now.
"I saw how that boy broke her heart and if I could have gotten my hands on him I would have killed him. I'll be damned if I allow that to happen again with you." Charlie says as he glares at me.
"Even though Edward and I are cousins that doesn't change the fact that what he did was dead wrong no matter how he tries to spin it. I know what he and his family have done to Bella and I would like you to know that I would never do that to her. I love Bella way too much to even think about hurting her even by accident." Talking about this makes me want to find Edward and roast his ass right now.
"Why should I believe you? For all I know you could just be saying that just so you can have sex with her." I quickly clench my hands together as I try to block out any imagines of Bella naked. Now would be a terrible time to get hard.
"I know you may find this hard to believe, but I am still a virgin myself. So sex with Bella isn't even on my priority list as far as I'm concerned. I would actually prefer to wait for marriage." I answer honestly because I don't take something as important as sex lightly especially when it comes to my angel.
"Bella calls you the love of her life which I find hard to believe considering she's only 18." Charlie says as he leans back in his chair and crosses his arms over his chest.
"I know the age difference between Bella and I isn't exactly ideal, but I do love your daughter more than you could possibly understand. All I want to do is make her happy and feel loved every single day." I say quickly to defend myself and what I feel for my angel.
I watch as he quietly analyzes me for a minute. "Is she your mate?" Charlie asks looking at me expecting an answer I'm still trying to figure out in my mind if I heard him right or not.
"Umm what...what do you mean Mr. Swan?" I ask confused and stunned and everything in-between. Surely I heard him wrong or something. He couldn't possibly know that I'm a vampire right?
"I don't think I've ever heard of a vampire stuttering before. Surely you can't honestly think I'm that ignorant to what's been happening under my own roof. I will admit it took me longer than I would like to believe to figure it out because of your abnormal eye color. Usually they're bright red but yours are more of a honey gold. Does that mean you share a different diet than the typical vampire?" Charlie asks and now I'm the one trying to work this through my brain and comprehend what has just been said to me.
"I...ummm...wait what?!" I shout standing up not caring that I knocked my chair over and it falls with a flat clatter. I also might possibly be overeating but right now I don't care.
"I know you're a vampire. I never figured it out with that boy because he made sure he was here when I wasn't, but you on the other hand didn't do that which I appreciate." Charlie says still sitting there smiling at my reaction.
"How could you possibly know that I'm a vampire?" I asked still beyond shocked that he knows and is being seriously chill about the whole thing. Surely the Volturi would have killed him by now for knowing.
"No, you're not here to ask me questions. Now sit down so we can continue talking." I slowly nod my head and move to pick up the chair I knocked over. I quickly sit down and try to wrap my head around everything Charlie has said so far.
"I'm sorry for my overreaction." I say as I feel my knee bouncing underneath the table.
"Now Tanya I'm going to need you to calm down for me and focus. I need you to tell me what really happened yesterday that caused Bella to come running home like she did. I feel like it had something more to do with just the Cullen's being back in town." Charlie says as he leans forward interlocking his fingers in front of him.
"How are you so sure something happened yesterday?" I realize that was weak, but I'm trying to think of something to say to get out of this conversation. Also I'm not sure if Bella would want her father to know what happened. She didn't even want to talk about it with me last night.
"I know my daughter better than everybody thinks I do. Also it would have something to do with her mother's bloodline so I know something happened that wasn't expected." He says starting to get agitated as I continue to sit in silence.
"As you know Bella is my mate which means even though you are her father my loyalty lies with her. I will not potentially betray her by telling you something you something that she doesn't wish to talk about." I say as I cross my arms over my chest and lean back in the seat.
"I had a feeling you were going to say that honestly. It's good that you put my daughters feelings first. I respect that." Charlie says as he mimics my position.
"I mean no disrespect Mr. Swan, but I don't wish to betray mu angels trust when I worked so hard to gain it." I sigh still trying to figure out how Charlie could possibly know that I'm a vampire.
"I can understand where you're coming from I know Bella doesn't have the easiest time trusting people. So in return I'll answer your previous question. I know about vampires because Bella's mother told me about them and all mystical creatures at that." How has he managed to tell me everything yet absolutely nothing at the exact same time?!
"What do you mean by all mystical creatures? How would Bella's mom possibly know? Is she a vampire?" I need him to answer my questions because I honestly don't understand what is going on anymore.
"There are more mystical creatures out there than just vampires, werewolves, and shape shifters Tanya. Renee knows because she is a part of that world, and no she's not a vampire." Again he's not really giving me much to work with here!
"You know you're basically telling me everything yet nothing at the same time. Please explain what Ms. Swan has to do with any of this." I feel like I have a headache and I didn't even know vampires could get those!
"You referred to my daughter as your angel. Do you call her that often?" What does this have to do with anything?
"I've called her that since the day I met her, but what does that have to do with anything?" I ask starting to get frustrated as I hear Charlie chuckle.
"You don't know how accurate you are in calling her that. Now tell me how much do you know about Arch Angels?" Charlie says looking at me apparently expecting me to answer.
"You mean defenders of God, all knowing and powerful Arch Angels? The same Arch Angels who could potentially kill something with just a look?!" He can't possibly be serious right now. Arch Angels don't exist right?
"That's the general overview of them yes, but they don't just go around killing people just because they can. Also yes tradition Arch Angels are defenders of God but over time things have changed and only a select few defend God while the others go out a lead semi-normal lives. What do you know of the ranking systems of the Angels?" I feel like my brain is running on overdrive yet completely frozen at the same time.
"I umm...I know there are three different ranks to Arch Angels, but I don't exactly know the difference. I honestly never thought it mattered since they weren't real and now you're sitting here telling me they are." I know I'm sitting here kind of in shock, but honestly I'm more concerned with how Bella is going to possibly handle this information.
"Really all you need to know is that Arch Angels have low, medium, and high rankings. Renee would be a high ranked Arch Angel. This means that if Bella has come into her powers then I need to call Renee before things get out of hand." What does he mean before things get out of hand/. I still don't understand any of this.
"Call Renee," I whisper as I stand up and slowly walk towards the door. I need to see Bella right now. I honestly don't know what to do with this information, but I need to make sure my angel is okay.
"Go to her, but please don't tell her anything I've told you until her mother can get here and explain everything. If I call her now she should be here by the time school lets out. Since you look overloaded you can feel free to take Bella out of school for the rest of the day so you may both spend time together." Charlie says as I hear him pick up the phone and start dialing.
All I can manage is to nod my head as I quickly run out of the house and race to my angel.
A/N 2: Okay so I lied to myself and said I was going to stick to the plan I had for this chapter, and clearly that didn't work out. Due to the move it took me way longer to get this chapter done. I'm sorry it's not my finest work, but I'm really busy combining two households and I head back to work on Monday and we're still unpacking.
