It was an hour later when Norma was finally able to put Ella down for the night. She was sleeping in the guest room, luckily for Norma she was able to find Norman's old baby crib in the attic, why she had it shipped to White Pine Bay she would never know. Nostalgia maybe? The desire to have more kids? Whatever. It didn't matter because it sure was coming in handy now.

Her body felt tired, it was a reminder of when Dylan and Norman were babies and while a sweet memory, the feeling sucked. She could pass out any second, even walking to her room was like a chore. A smile reached her lips once she saw Alex however, stretched out on the bed with his hands behind his head, he looked ready to crash as well.

"Hey honey," she yawned, peeling her outfit away and searching for some kind of nightgown.

"Hi," he answered, his voice as gruff as ever.

Norma quickly tugged on the first fitting piece of clothing she could find, walked to the bed, and climbed in. "So, you were really sweet tonight," she giggled, her lip caught between her teeth.

He gave a small nod and a miniature but appreciate smile. "Eh it was nothing."

"No, no, no! It was so cute to see you and the baby together...it just amazes me that you never got around to having any of your own," she added, pausing once the words left her mouth.

All of a sudden it came back to her, Callie? Callie, that was her name. Alex's aunt had told her the whole story...his perished fiance. She was already pregnant with their child when she was killed. Oh shit, Norma thought.

"Yeah...kid's were never really my thing," he replied, his voice staying completely monotone.

Norma was a little mad at that point, why couldn't he just tell her? She would've understood and supported him. It looked like the only way she would find out is if she pried. And she didn't want to. But it was something incredibly important and if it had to be dug into it would be.

"Alex," she sighed, gently reaching over to take his hand in hers, those blue eyes turning into something completely sympathetic, "I know..."

He looked at her in confusion, a hint of fear overshadowing a few seconds after, "You know...? You know about what?" his voice didn't sound angry, but rushed like he was choking on his own words.

"Honey, your aunt told me-"

"She what? My aunt told you what exactly?" he cut her off, she knew his blood was starting to boil. She never thought he would get this upset over something without even knowing what it was.

She took another deep breath and clenched his hand a bit snugger, "About Callie, Alex. I know who she was, I know what happened to her, and I know how you felt about it," she explained, her heart beating like a mouse, she really didn't want him to get mad.

But it was too late. He stood out of the bed, shaking his head as he tugged his shoes back on. "No, you don't know what your talking about okay, Norma? Just let it go."

"I do know what I'm talking about, Alex. You lost your fiance. I know, it's out in the open, okay? I just don't know why you kept that away from me for so long," she said, staying down, afraid to make any other movement.

"Norma!," he began, his face getting red, she didn't know if it was because he was sad or angry, "Just knock it off!".

"No, I will not. I want you to sit down right now and tell me what's going on with you. Why are you getting so mad at me? Is it because your missing her?" she asked, her voice staying soft and empathetic the entire way, she would never yell back at him, not when dealing with such a matter.

"I told you to leave it alone so leave it the fuck alone!" he yelled, walking closer to her bedroom door to leave. He couldn't handle it. Just the word Callie sent him into a tailspin.

"Hey," she started, jumping out of the bed and clambering to the door to grab a hold of his arm, "Alex stop. Please. Just tell me. I'll listen to you, I'm right here for you sweetheart."

"No Norma! You stop! Stop asking cause I'll never tell you," he grumbled, giving her one of the meanest glares he could've managed.

"Fine," she said with a sigh, "But just know I've told you everything. Even about my past which you know hurt me. I told you about Caleb, I told you about the way I grew up. I think that I deserve a little sliver of truth from you right now."

He sighed and dropped his head against a side of the door frame, "You wanna know that much, huh?" he asked, his voice still refusing to breach from the low grumble.

"Yeah, Alex, I do. I want you to open up to me and tell me what your feeling," she admitted, reaching out to grab his hand again. She wanted to signal him, to let him know she was there, that she would always be there.

He clutched her hand back, his face still appearing angry however. He shrugged, letting Norma know he was breaking a bit. She tugged on his hand, pulling him gently back to her bed to sit down. He did, he stayed planted on the side of the mattress with a sedated look on his face, almost like he was already drained of emotion. It was clear that this was a demon for Alex.

"Are you sure you'll tell me everything?" she asked, a hand moving to rest on his upper back.

He nodded and sighed heavily, "If that's what you want."

"It is."

"Well then...brace yourself."
