Flinky: Hello world! It's Flinky with the next chapter.
X: That was fast
Flinky: I already made the first couple chapters before I started posting this so...
Red: So what?
Flinky: It was already done.
Ignite and I went through a lot of training. Most of the others were willing to help, but they seemed a little distressed at how I treated Ignite. They said that I was "Too light on him" and "Needed to push him harder." I just ignored them.
Those couple weeks were the best, even if I was working for the government, a job I would normally hate. If anything, it was nice to spend time with Ignite.
Of course, being an Admin has other jobs. I had to constantly go to meetings and other similar duties. Since I'm new, my opinion wasn't heard that much.
I thought everything was good, until the day. The day where everything changed. They day where, if you read the story's description, you would know what was happening.
I was walking back home from a meeting, when I heard something in a nearby bush. I took out Ignite's ball, in case it was hostile. For a while, there was no noise, then a boy who was slightly older than me approached me.
"Ignite, go!" I yelled.
The boy said, "Feraligatr, I choose you!"
I knew I was in trouble. My Pokémon was facing someone much stronger and with a type advantage. I put my hands up.
"Ignite, return!" I called.
When he was safe inside his ball, I looked at the boy.
"Come with me," he said simply.
I did so, and we were walking for a half-hour. We completely left the neighborhood. When he stopped, we were in the middle of nowhere.
"I see why you dragged me out here. It was a really good reason."
"Shut up and wait."
He knocked on the ground, and it made a metallic sound. A hatch opened up and he climbed in. He beckoned me to follow.
After I climbed in, I saw a huge place. There were a couple people sitting at a table. One of the people seemed familiar... No way! Leaf Green! I haven't seen her since she disappeared two years ago!
She looked at me and said "Oh, hey Red. I didn't know they would bring you in."
Okay. I need to know. "Can someone tell me what is going on?" I asked.
"Alright. I'll do it." The boy who brought me here started talking.
"First, my name is Gold. This is Poké Underground. We fight to get rid of Team Rocket. They show no respect to Pokémon and I just want to crush them-"
"Calm down Gold." I looked over and saw an elderly man with a red shirt and a lab coat.
"Yea, thanks. So, you know I'm Gold, you already know Leaf, and he is Professor Oak. The others that you don't know are Professor Birch, Professor Elm, Brendan, Silver, Lyra, Kris, May, Wally, Wes, and Michael."
"Ok, so why did you bring me here?"
"We want you to join us."
"You are asking an Admin to join Rebels?"
"We know that you hate Team Rocket almost as much as us. You also have a gift that most of the world doesn't have. You actually care for Pokémon. Your Charmander-"
"His name is Ignite."
"Right. Ignite is a good example. He has taking a huge liking to you."
"I caught him in a Luxury Ball."
"It's not just that. It's how you train, how you fight, your attitude. They're all different than the other admins You must have realized that by now."
"He is clear." I turned around and saw a frail kid with a Gardevoir.
"Yea, Red, this is Wally. Wally, this is Red," Leaf said.
"Nice to meet you," said Wally.
"Yea, same here."
"So Wally, he is safe? No brainwashing?"
Wally nodded.
"Wait, brainwashing?" I asked.
Gold said "Yea. Team Rocket will brainwash Executives or Admins to make sure they remain loyal. Either you escaped it or are immune to it."
There was a moment of silence.
"Our founder was captured by Team Rocket. We tried to come back for him but he fought to stay with them. He was the first time we heard of brainwashing. Since then, I became the leader." Gold said solemnly.
"What was his name?" I asked.
Everyone said in unison "Red."
Leaf quickly added "The infamous Red. He was shorter and had black hair."
"Okay, hold on a sec. In the past 45 minutes, I've gone from a meeting discussing how to use the Johto budget to getting caught up in a resistance group. Not only that, everyone here as Pokémon illegally, and my childhood friend, who was supposedly dead for the past two years, is now present."
"Well when you put it like that..." Gold began. "If you decide to say no, we'll have Gardevoir remove your memories of this. We'll dump you off at your house, and you'll forget all of this."
"Hmm... living a life with no change, just meetings and training; or working with awesome trainers and my lost friend taking down the people I hate. Do you even need to ask? Of course I'll join."
Everyone cheered.
"Ok, if you come with me I'll have you answer some questions."
Professor Oak led me into a room with loads of papers.
"Ok, are you a boy or a girl?"
"Uhh...Boy."
It's hard to believe someone with a PhD can't tell.
"And your name?"
"Red."
"And, you're set. You already have a starter Pokémon, so that's easy. Welcome to Poké Underground. Here is your bunk assignment, Pokédex, and five Pokéballs. We will give you the day to get used to this, but be ready to go by tomorrow morning."
He gave me the supplies and I left.
When I got to my bunk, it wasn't that bad. It was much smaller than my house when I was an Admin but I didn't use most of it anyways. I noticed that there was another bunk, so I know that I am sleeping with someone. I checked outside and there was a sign that said "Michael and Red". Apparently I have Michael as a roommate.
I got up and looked around. The room that I first entered seemed to be the go-to place, as there was a TV, cards, and a laptop. I noticed Leaf sitting alone and decided to talk to her.
"Hey, Leaf."
She looked over.
"Oh, hey Red. I'm guessing you want to know what happened to me."
I nodded.
"I was walking home from school when Gold came. He did that I needed to come with him. When I refused, he sent out his Feraligatr and threatened me. I had some logic, so I went with him. I was introduced to this place and have been here ever since."
"So, what do you do?"
"We normally go on missions to sabotage Team Rocket. We are still so considering going public. On one side, a revolution is possible. On the other side, Team Rocket can track us down. If we get captured, than no one is going to rebel out of fear, so it's important that we don't go down."
"Ok. What was your first mission like?"
"We stole some supplies to expand this place. That was what made your room."
"Speaking of my room, who and where is Michael?"
"Oh, he's the second newest recruit. He has a device that allows him to capture trainer's Pokémon, but he only uses it if it's on Team Rocket and the Pokémon looks miserable."
"Anything else?"
"Yea. We all get a mission partner since it's safer like that, and you're with me." she said enthusiastically. There was an awkward pause. "I heard you became an Admin. If you haven't changed since we were kids, then that shouldn't be possible."
"I beat the tests in record time. They also made me fight a Pokémon, so instead, I caught it. That's how I met Ignite."
"That's pretty cool."
I heard a song coming from her pocket.
"Oh, we have our first mission."
She took out a phone.
"We have to recruit a guy named Blue. Ever heard of him?"
I shuddered.
"Judging by your reaction, I'd say you have."
"Yea, we kinda hate each other. Is he currently with Team Rocket?"
"Yes, he's an Admin. I bet he replaced you."
"Great. Does he have to come?"
"Yes. There are only so many people who can connect to Pokémon like us, and Blue is one of them."
"Whoopee. How do you know?"
"The professors can tell. They don't fight with us, but they can get supplies, treat our Pokémon, and give advice."
"Speaking of Pokémon, who do you have?"
"Let me show you. Come on out, everyone!"
She threw out four Pokéballs. There was a Bulbasaur, Vulpix, Eevee, and Ditto.
"I put a lot of work into catching and raising them."
"Well, I challenge you to a battle."
"Alright, but I've had at least a year of experience."
"Still wanna try."
"Fair enough. I assume you will use your Charmander?"
"Yep. You?"
"I'll go with my first Pokémon. Bulbasaur, let's go!"
"Ignite, go!"
I sent out Ignite, and he looked scared. I mentally face palmed. He doesn't know that we are with rebels now.
"Ignite, it's alright. I'll explain later. For now, we have a battle!"
His expression shifted from fear to eagerness. Red vs Leaf. This will be fun.
Leaf said, "I'll take the first move. Bulbasaur, Razor Leaf!"
"Burn it with Ember!"
Ignite successfully lit all the leaves on fire.
"Now, get in close and use Metal Claw!"
While Bulbasaur was recovering, Ignite was able to rush in and landed the attack twice before he recovered.
"Nice work Ignite!"
"I wouldn't celebrate just yet. Bulbasaur, Leech Seed!"
"Ignite, jump out of the way!"
Ignite was able to avoid the attack, but Bulbasaur was charging at him.
"Now, Tackle!" Leaf commanded
There was no avoiding it. He made a direct hit and sent Ignite flying into the wall.
"Ignite, are you ok?"
He looked at me and said "Charmander Char!"
"Good. Ember!"
He was able to score a clean super-effective hit.
"Ugh. Tackle!"
"Scratch!"
They both charged at each other. It became a battle of shear strength. The first person to let up lost the match. Slowly but surely, Bulbasaur got the upper hand. Just as it looked like it was over, Ignite started glowing.
"Whoa! Your Charmander is evolving!"
I looked at Ignite. The glow brightened to the point where I could no longer see his colors. The shape changed and morphed into a taller figure with a horn on his head. When the glow subsided, Ignite was a Charmeleon.
"Nice, you evolved. You ready to finish this battle?"
He gave me a grin. My Pokédex dinged, and said "Charmeleon has learned: Fire Fang"
"Great! Now, let's try that out! Fire Fang!"
He got close to Bulbasaur and bit him. It seemed to do massive damage.
"First an evolution, then a critical hit? That is luck."
When Ignite was done, the Bulbasaur had swirls over his eyes.
"Looks like I win."
"Yea. Bulbasaur, return."
She put Bulbasaur back into his ball.
"Your really good. I had Bulbasaur for a year and he hasn't evolved yet. Nice job. Of course, it would help to catch more Pokémon."
"I just got here. Give me a break."
"Fine."
Flinky: And that was chapter 2.
Red: I liked it. The story almost has a launching point.
Flinky: You like it because it's about you.
Red: So? That doesn't matter.
Flinky: Yes it does.
Red: No it doesn't.
X: Can you two shut up?
