Flinky: I procrastinated... Oh and just a heads up. 90% of this chapter is an epic (at least I think so) battle. If that's not your thing, just skip to the next line break. That's when actual stuff relevant to the story happens.
"And Gold has one the honor of third place!" the announcer said. "That brings us to the final battle, Fire Red versus Hilbert! This will be one for the books, as this is no normal battle. In this battle, the trainers will draft from a pre-selected pool of Pokémon. And not just normal Pokémon either. Both sides will be using 6 legendary Pokémon!"
Wait, what? Hilbert looked just as confused as I was.
Soon, we were teleported into a room with a grid featuring every legendary Pokémon, except for Arceus.
"This is how it works," Omni began to explain. "You will press the tile of the Pokémon you want to use in battle. Then, the other person will go. You two can choose who goes first."
Hilbert and I looked at each other, before he stepped up and pressed the tile for Zekrom. I did the same with Mew.
After we picked, we were teleported down to the field, which was noticeably bigger.
"Welcome folks, to the final showdown! Fire Red, leader of Poké Underground, versus Hilbert, leader of the Unovan Strike Force. Both sides have 6 legendary Pokémon, who will, temporarily, listen to their orders."
I looked at my new Pokéball belt. The Poké Balls all had a slightly different gem, for each Pokémon. I've done some crazy shit, but now I'm actually fighting with legendaries.
"Hey!"
Sorry Omni. A full team of legendaries.
"This is a full 6 on 6 battle between Fire Red and Hilbert. The battle is over when all of one side's Pokémon are unable to continue. Substitutions are allowed. Will both sides please send out their Pokémon."
I grabbed the Pokéball with a light red gem.
"Go, Latias!"
I sent out a Latias. It was the same one who saved us from the Rocket complex when we were captured a while ago.
"Get ready Hoopa!"
I didn't recognize that Pokémon. That will make this battle interesting.
"Hilbert may have the first move. Battle, begin!"
"Hoopa, use Shadow Ball!"
"Intercept with Dragon Pulse!" I said.
Hoopa launched a Shadow Ball, but it was knocked out of the way by Dragon Pulse, which hit.
"Okay, new strategy," Hilbert said. "Prison Bottle!"
He took out an item from his bag. The ref didn't do anything.
"Seriously?" I yelled. "It's illegal for me to use illusions, but it's fine for him to take out some magic bottle thing?"
The ref just shrugged. "Take up your complaint with Mr. Goodshow."
Meanwhile, the bottle seemed to be affecting Hoopa. The ring around it's body went off, and he started to grow. A lot. He went from barely a foot to about 20 feet. The vaguely friendly look on his face was gone. There was now a lot more teeth.
"Damn. Latias, return!"
I returned Latias, since there's no way she can take this one.
"Go, Dialga!"
I sent out Dialga. The main reason I chose him is because both Giratina and Palkia hate me.
"Battle, begin!"
"Hoopa, use Hyperspace Fury!"
Hoopa's rings shot out to Dialga.
"Let's do 4 minus!" I yelled. I worked on this idea a bit before.
While Hoopa was attacking Dialga, a portal opened up, revealing another one.
The idea was that in four minutes from now, Dialga would come back in time to this moment where he would help the current Dialga beat the enemy.
"Future Dialga, use Roar of Time. Present one, use Iron Tail!"
I could see the ref struggling to decide whether this was against the rules.
"So, you want to play like that? Hoopa, send the Roar back at him!"
One of Hoopa's rings opened up to absorb the attack, and it came out another one, which was pointed at present Dialga.
Of course, future Dialga is from the future and knew it would happen.
I have a headache too.
Future Dialga vanished, then reappeared and knocked the present one out of the way, making the Roar of TIme miss. Now only present Dialga could move.
"Future!" I yelled. "Go back to the battle!"
Future Dialga left the present battle. In about two minutes, he'll time travel back to the… I give up on explaining. This is just too complicated.
"Hoopa, use Dark Pulse!" Hilbert commanded.
"Meet it with Flash Cannon!"
The two attacks cancelled each other out.
"One more Hyperspace Fury!" Hilbert said.
"Roar of TIme then!" I yelled.
This time, Dialga won out. The Roar was much stronger than Hyperspace Fury, and knocked out Hoopa.
"Hoopa is unable to battle. Hilbert, please send out your next Pokémon."
"Alright, go, Cobalion!"
"Battle, begin!"
"Dialga, use Aura Sphere!"
"Send it back with Sacred Sword!"
Dialga's Aura Sphere bounced of Cobalion and was flying back to him.
"Okay, go back to the Hoopa Battle!" I yelled.
Dialga vanished when the Aura Sphere was about to hit, but came back with some minor injuries.
"What just happened?" Hilbert asked.
"Time travel," I responded.
"Okay… I guess… Cobalion, use Sacred Sword on Dialga!"
"Dodge!"
Dialga couldn't move though. Why… Oh, my past self had him use Roar of Time. Welp.
He was hit by Cobalion, doing massive damage.
"Type advantage, right," I said to myself. "Okay Dialga, use Earth Power!"
Dialga stomped his foot, sending something that looked like an Earthquake but not really at Cobalion.
"Jump, and use Sacred Sword again!"
Cobalion dodged the attack and hit Dialga, knocking him out.
"Dialga is unable to continue. Fire Red, please send out your next Pokémon."
Okay, I know Cobalion is a Fighting-type, but what other type… I really don't know. Blue's usually the one that knows everything about Pokémon.
"Okay, go, Ho-oh!"
I sent out Ho-oh. Feels pretty awesome.
"Battle, begin!"
"Cobalion, use Iron Head!"
"Ho-oh, use Sky Attack."
Ho-oh took a second to charge her (I think) attack. he unleashed it and ran right into Cobalion's Iron Head.
Sky Attack won.
She went straight through and hit Cobalion, doing a lot of damage.
"Okay, let's try something else. Use Swords Dance!" Hilbert said.
"Stop them with Sacred Fire!"
Sacred Fire did a lot more damage than normal. I wonder… He's part steel! It took me way too long to figure that out.
"Okay, Fire Blast!" I said.
The attack finished Cobalion off.
"Cobalion is unable to continue. Hilbert, please send out your next Pokémon."
"Alright. Go, Zygarde!"
Another legendary I can't recognize.
"Ho-oh, I'm going to leave you in."
"Battle, begin!"
"Zygarde, use Dragon Dance!" Hilbert said.
"Use Sky Attack!"
Ho-oh began charging the attack as Zygarde did some dance thing. Wait, is Dragon Dance an attacking move?
Seeing as how Zygarde finished without hitting Ho-oh, I'm going to assume no.
"Alright Zygarde, one more, then start the sweep!" Hilbert yelled.
"Fire it Ho-oh!"
Ho-oh fired off her Sky Attack at Zygarde. It did something, but not enough to knock him out.
"Aright!" Nate cheered. "Now, take them out! Use Crunch!"
Zygarde moved a lot faster than normal, and hit a lot harder.
If there's one thing I hate, its stat-changing moves. I just think that they're cheap. Now, I have to take down someone with 50 stat effects on him.
Of course, I would be a bad trainer if I hadn't prepared for this.
"Use Punishment Ho-oh!" I yelled.
The look on Hilbert's face was priceless.
"Try to hit her first," he said, desperately.
Ho-oh nailed Zygarde, breaking through his Crunch. He was still up, but barely.
"No other choice…" Hilbert mumbled. "Zygarde, use Outrage!"
The Dragon Dances were still in effect, making the Outrage even stronger.
"Ho-oh, get out of there!" I yelled.
Ho-oh began taking off, but couldn't escape the Outrage. She was taken down.
"Ho-oh is unable to continue! Red, please send out your next Pokémon."
I need to have a fast Pokémon to take on Zygarde.
"Go, Latias!" I said
She was still a bit injured from the Hoopa battle, but should be able to carry on.
"Battle, begin!"
"Latias, use Dragon Pulse!"
Zygarde was still in Outrage, so he couldn't stop the attack. The Outrage did hit Latias too, so they were both taken out.
"Both Pokémon are unable to continue. Will both sides send out their next Pokémon."
So we're both down three. This is an interesting battle.
"Go, Omni!" I yelled, releasing my Mew.
"Using your legendary? I guess I'll have to do the same. Go, Zekrom!"
While we were picking, Hilbert told me how he caught Zekrom, and how Team Plasma has a Reshiram. He didn't clarify whether it was the Team Plasma led by N or Ghetsis (something that he really needs to tell me when we're done here).
"Battle, begin!"
"Omni, use Draco Meteor!" I yelled.
"Stop them with Fusion Bolt!" Hilbert countered.
Zekrom knocked the Draco Meteor out of the sky, but didn't hit Omni.
"Alright, let's make him regret that," I said. "Transform into Reshiram!"
Omni warped herself into a Reshiram.
"Now, Fusion Flare!" I said.
I don't know much about legendaries, especially the like, 50 ones from Unova, but I remember hearing how using one of the fusion attacks right after one the other doubles the damage. Honestly though, there is a type disadvantage, so the attack becomes neutral.
"I forgot that Mew can do that… Shake it off Zekrom! Then use Dragon Pulse!"
Is it just me, or has that move been used a lot this battle?
"Omni, transform into Deoxys Speed!"
Omni warped into a Deoxys, completely dodging the Dragon Pulse.
"Damnit," I heard Hilbert say. "Okay, try a Thunder!"
"Dodge, then Blizzard!"
The best thing about Omni is that she can use any move in any Pokémon's body. For instance, let's take a Pokémon like Garbodor. It has high attack, but most of its moves are special attack. Omni can turn into Garbosor (assuming, for some odd reason, I wanted her to), and use attacks like Giga Impact.
Sorry, ADD. Anyways, Blizzard hit and was super-effective, doing a lot of damage to Zekrom.
"I got it!" Hilbert yelled. "Use Imprison!"
And another obscure move that I have no idea what it does.
"Okay, try a Dragon Claw," I said.
"I can't," Omni said back. "He used Imprison."
"If I knew what Imprison was, I would already have a strategy to counter it. Tell me what it does."
"I can't use any moves that he knows."
"Wait… so if you used Imprison, then the other Pokémon couldn't do anything?"
"Sorry to stop you, but can you help me? Because right now I am running around the battlefield avoiding a Bolt Strike."
"Sorry. Transform into Groudon."
Omni switched from Deoxys to Groudon.
"Use Earthquake," I said.
Omni/Groudon hit Zekrom, knocking him out.
"Zekrom in unable to continue. Hilbert, please send out your next Pokémon."
"Red, your Mew is strong. I'll give you that. But I will defeat her. Go, Victini!"
"Hey Mew!"
"Hey Victini! How've you been?" Omni said, transforming back into her normal form.
"Good, good. Only one team has tried to capture me since the last time we met, so it's getting better. How's your trainer?"
"He's actually pretty good, but a bit unfocused."
I'm not sure whether to point out that they're supposed to fight or that I'm not the only one who can't focus.
Thankfully, Hilbert solved that dilemma.
"You two are about to fight, you know."
"I know," Victini said. "But I still have to catch up."
"Or, maybe you could do this when we don't have 10,000 people watching?" I suggested.
"Alright, fine."
The ref looked confused.
"Just start the battle," I said.
"Uhh… Battle, begin!"
"Omni, use Hydro Cannon!"
"Victini, charge through it with Double Edge!"
Victini charged straight through Omni's attack, hitting her.
"You've gotten stronger," Omni said.
"Yea, after the last Plasma accident, I started training."
"Just fight!" Hilbert and I said at the same time.
"Alright, fine…"
"Victini, use Searing Shot!"
"Dodge, then Water Pulse!"
The Searing Shot seemed to follow Omni, roasting her. When she came out, there was a burn mark on her back.
"Yep… That one hurt…"
"Omni, use Recover!"
The ref raised his flag.
"For fuck sake, what did I do this time?"
"Under the Endless Battle clause, Recover is an illegal move. As such, Red forfeits his-"
"Just let him keep her out," Hilbert said. "She stopped the Recover, so she didn't get healed."
"…I guess if the opposing side approves. Red may keep his Mew in play. Battle, resume!"
Well, Hilbert helped me out here.
"Okay Omni, try another Hydro Canon!" I yelled.
"Victini, use Double Edge again!"
"Make sure to strafe!" I added at the last second.
Omni was constantly moving while she fired the Hydro Canon, making her miss a lot of it. The upside was that she completely dogged the Searing Shot.
"Nice one Omni!" I cheered
"Victini, I think it's time for the trump card. Use Final Gambit!"
Okay, I know Omni is about to be hit with one of the most devastating attacks in Pokémon, but why did Hilbert just say trump card? There is literally a move named exactly that.
"Omni, transform to Gengar!"
The only reason I said Gengar is because i don't know of any Ghost-type legendaries (except for Giratina, but I don't want to be reminded of that)
Omni couldn't complete the transformation in time, getting knocked out by the Final Gambit. Of course, Victini was too.
"Both sides are unable to continue. Will Red please release his next Pokémon, and Hilbert release his final."
He's down to his final Pokémon. One more and then I win. If there is anything I've learned while traveling though (which honestly wasn't much) is that a trainer's ace is saved for the end.
"Rayquaza, lat's finish this!" He yelled.
"Go, Raikou!" I yelled. So right off the bat I'm fucked.
"Battle, begin!"
"Rayguaza, mega evolve!" Hilbert ordered. He tapped a stone that was on the Pokéball symbol on his bag. It glowed along with Rayquaza.
Now I'm really fucked.
"Okay Raikou, let's try a Thunder," I said.
He looked just as worried as I was, but carried through. It did almost no damage though.
"Rayqyaza, Earthquake!" Hilbert called.
"Jump, then use Crunch while he's in range," I said. It worked out fairly well, as Raikou was able to deliver the attack. It did more than Thunder, but still did't even make a scratch on the Rayquaza. That thing is overpowered.
"One more Earthquake," Hilbert said. Rake couldn't dodge, and was taken out in one hit. ONE HIT!
"Raikou is unable to continue. Red, please release your final Pokémon."
"Well, all or nothing," I said, reaching for my final Pokéball. I had to pull a few strings to get him, since he's not a part of the "council", but he's a strong Pokémon who's known me before even Ignite.
"Go, Mewtwo!"
Most of the crowd was confused at the Pokémon. The only people who've seen him (to my knowledge) are me, Leaf, Michael, Blue, Team Rocket, and parts of Team Plasma.
"So, a Mega Rayquaza? I'll do my best, master."
"No formalities," I said. "Not to mention that you're only my Pokémon for the next 20-ish minutes."
"Very well."
"Battle, beg-"
"HOLD IT!" Omni screamed in all of our heads. Apparently she's already recovered from the Victini battle. "This battle is unfair." She floated down to the stadium. When did she leave her ball?
Anyways, Omni dropped a necklace around Mewtwo's head. It was a simple rope with a small pink rock attached to it. He was just as confused as I was.
"What?" I asked.
"No time to explain." She said quickly, before vanishing. What the fuck?
"Red, I sense a strange power radiaiting off of he stone," Mewtwo said. Now that he mentioned it, the stone on the necklace did seem a little magicy- OH FUCK YEA!
I reached through my bag for the bracelet my dad gave me a while ago.
"Mewtwo, you ready?"
"I await to see what will happen."
"Mewtwo, Mega-Evolve!" I yelled, tapping the bracelet.
So, I'm no expert on mega-evolution, but this should be pretty awesome. I mean, Mewtwo, the Pokémon I first met in my dreams, is now not only fighting for me, but transforming to something even stronger!
"Red, you have no idea how lucky you are," Omni said in my mind. I disregarded it for now.
Mewtwo started glowing, and transfromed into something much more humanoid looking. It looked like his body was a lot tougher.
"Oh, this feels good," Mewtwo said.
"Well, ready for the hands down most epic battle in Pokémon history?" I asked.
Hilbert nodded. "Mega legendaries. This one's gonna be awesome."
"Just wait for the final showdown," a Pokémon, who I assumed to be Celebi, said in my head. I've given up on understanding who's speaking in my head.
"Battle, begin!"
"Okay Rayquaza, let's start off strong with Extreme Speed!"
"Take it, then Future Sight!"
Extreme Speed isn't that strong of a move (compared to the real power of these guys) and didn't hurt Mewtwo that much. Then, Mewtwo concentrated for a while, before releasing an orb into the sky.
"Now, use Psychic!" I yelled.
Mewtwo focused again, and launched a Psychic at the dragon. It wasn't the sort of super-boosted attack I was hoping for.
"Red… If it's any help, I feel a lot stronger rather than sharper."
I looked at mega Mewtwo's body, before face palming. This form, whatever it is, is a physical sweeper.
"Okay, try a Psycho Cut!"
Before Hilbert could say a counter, Mewtwo dashed up to Rayquaza and hit him. It looked almost like he teleported, but I could tell it was just his speed.
"Well, Rayquaza, we'll have to stop them. Use Dragon Pulse!"
"Alright, time for some fun. Use the explosion from the pulse to launch you up and deliver a Drain Punch!" I said. Mewtwo seemed confused before he read my mind and understood what I wanted.
"I am beginning to see why your Pokémon like you so much."
Mewtwo waited for the attack to come it, then jumped at the last second. The explosion propelled him to one of the arena walls, which he jumped off and onto Rayquaza.
He punched straight through Rayquaza. In return, Rayquaza used Hurricane to shake Mewtwo off.
The battle is pretty awesome. Mewtwo began using the walls to bounce around and hit Rayquaza, while Rayquaza tried to take him down before he could make contact.
"Go for the tail-things on his head!" I suggested. Mewtwo began targeting the yellow… things that were coming out of Rayquaza's head. It took him a couple tries, but he managed to catch Rayquaza.
"Now, send him down with Thunder Punch!"
"Use Fly to slow down!"
Mewtwo climbed to Rayquaza's head and began pushing him down, while Rayquaza was resisting.
"And, Gravity," I said, simply. Mewtwo cancelled the Thunder Punch and glowed for a while. When he stopped, Rayquaza started falling down.
"Okay Rayquaza, use Dragon Ascent to counter!" Hilbert said.
"Signature moves? I'm down with that. Mewtwo, use Psystrike!"
A blue orb formed around Mewtwo as Rayquaza was rising quickly. Both Pokémon had their attacks charged.
"Do it!" We both yelled at the same time.
Both sides charged at each other, picking up speed as they went. Mewtwo was a lot faster, but Rayquaza was heavier.
The two clashed, making a blue explosion. When it cleared, they were both still up, but heavily damaged.
"Rayquaza, we have to end it now. Use Hyper Beam!"
"Mewtwo, Giga Impact!"
FUCK YEA! The two most powerful moves done by the two strongest Pokémon of all time!
Arceus looked at me. I'm not retracting my statement.
Back to the battle, Mewtwo was dodging Rayquaza's beam. The battle would be determined by whether Mewtwo makes it to Rayquaza or gets shot down.
Rayquaza's aim was getting closer. Time for some help.
"Left!" I yelled. He veered left, dodging a part of the Hyper Beam. Since I can see from here, I can tell when he's about to get hit.
"Up! Down! Keep moving!"
Right before he was about to hit, Rayquaza adjusted his aim. It's too late to change direction, so Mewtwo will have to take it.
The Giga Impact began splitting the Hyper Beam into six parts, but it was taking a toll on Mewtwo. Eventually, there was too much light to be able to see what was going on.
When it faded away, both Pokémon were free falling down.
"Come on Rayquaza!" Hilbert cheered.
"Mewtwo, you can do it!"
Both sides opened there eyes. Rayquaza seemed exhausted, while Mewtwo was… smiling? It's a lot like the arrogant smirk that me and Ignite have, with a half-smile.
Then it hit me. Or rather, Rayquaza. Future Sight. It went off.
A pink orb crashed on to Rayquaza, finishing him off. Mewtwo landed gracefully with his knee down, while Rayquaza crashed behind him. Both Pokémon lost their mega form.
"Rayquaza in unable to continue, making Mewtwo the winner. And the victory goes to Fire Red!"
Well, that was my most epic battle so far.
"Okay Red, that was AWESOME!" Omni said. "And I've seen showdowns between Groudon and Kyogre!"
We were back on Cinnabar Island. After the battle, I released the legendaries I used, and Omni sent us back here.
"Yea Red, you did really well in that battle," Leaf said.
"I do kinda wish I made it that far, but I saw some of the battles you had. I probably wouldn't have lasted a minute," Michael admitted.
"Red, I need to tell you how legendaries work. Honestly. Why would you use Thunder on a Dragon-type with Delta Stream? You completely wasted your Raikou."
"What the hell is Delta Stream?" I asked.
Blue just face-palmed.
"Whatever. It's still my birthday," I said.
"Oh yea! I have a present!"
"The last time you had a present was this tournament."
"No, this one's an actual gift. Let me go off and get it."
Omni teleported away, leaving us standing around confused. She came back with a silver briefcase.
"Do I want to know what's in it?" I asked.
"Probably! Just open it!"
Reluctantly, I undid the straps. Inside were two pairs of black, fingerless gloves. One set had a red gem and the other had a blue.
"Put them on," Omni said.
I I started with the red ones. The red gem started glowing. I didn't feel any dif- HOLY SHIT!
I feel like someone has… I guess… supercharge me. I looked at my hands, and it seemed like it was on fire! Wait… it's multiplying my red aura. I launched a aura beam at a nearby tree, and not only decimated the tree, but two others next to it.
I also did a aura jump.
So apparently, the inside of Cinnabar Island's volcano does;t have much magma.
I landed back on the ground and recovered.
"I would take them off now."
I did as Omni suggested, placing the gloves in my bag.
"So what does the other pair do?" I asked.
"For those, you'll want to send out one of you Pokémon."
I sent out Ignite, who, used to these weird situations by now, just looked at me.
I put on the blue gloves, and didn't feel different (for real this time).
"So what did you want me to do?"
I don't recognize that voice…
"Who said that?" I asked.
"You can't recognize me?"
I looked at where the voice is coming from, and it was where Ignite was… no way.
"Ignite, say something."
"Some-"
"And don't be a smartass."
"So you get to, but I can't?"
"I'm the trainer here."
"Wait, did you just…"
Yep. I can understand (at least) Ignite.
"He did. Those gloves allow him to communicate with Pokémon."
Ignite looked at me, seriously.
"Don't tell Storm. You do not want him ranting whenever he's out."
Well… this is pretty cool.
I decided to keep the blue gloves on. The red ones overstimulate me (don't take that out of context), but these ones seem fine.
"Ignite, return."
"Okay, that is pretty cool," Blue said.
"Damn right it is," I responded.
We spent the rest of the day on the island. I quickly learned why Ignite advised me to not talk to Storm.
"What if your gloves are actually a shard from another universe which has a mini-civilization built into it run by-"
"Storm, return," I deadpanned.
Once Storm was in his Pokéball, I went back to camp and fell asleep. Tommorow, we set out for Pallet (or more likely spend a chapter getting there because we run into some unexpected problem).
Flinky: Okay. Not much to say here, so good whatever.
