Chapter Fifteen:
I couldn't shake the bad feeling looming in my gut. All of the guys left and Gemma and I stayed at the house, with Abel. Dylan was watching after SamCro, while the guys took care of business. They didn't trust anyone else to look after the garage. Jax has been sending me coded texts on our prepaid phones, so that I know he made it okay. He tries to keep my worrying to a minimum. It helps – it really does.
Something crashed outside and I looked at Gemma. She motioned upstairs to the baby. I nodded and gestured for her to go up with Abel. She looked hesitant, but I pulled the gun that she kept hidden in her kitchen and she gave in.
I walked to the backdoor and peeked out of the window. I can't see anything, but it's dark out. The day came and went too soon. I heard another crash, closer than before. My heart felt like it was trying to beat out of my chest, but I tried to reign in my fear and channel it into anger. I flipped the safety off of the gun and stood my ground. I blinked and just waited. Soon enough, Alex' face popped up. I fired the gun. I didn't have to think twice.
"Katie!" Gemma yelled.
"Stay with Abel. I'm fine!" I hollered back. Alex gripped his arm and staggered backwards. At least I hit him. He started to turn away, so I put my gun down. He spun around and kicked the door open. I realized my mistake, when I tumbled forward and my face met the floor. I groaned and tried to crawl away, but he just grabbed my ankle.
"So, that's how you want to play it, you little bitch?" He growled.
"If you want me, then I'll go with you. I'm who you came for right? Well, I'm right here." I told him.
"Oh, just like you 'played nice' last time? I don't think so cunt." He hissed. He grabbed me by my hair and dragged me to my feet. "I've got plans for you, but don't worry. You're going to remember them. I'll give you a choice. You can cooperate and come with me like a good little bitch, or you fight me on this and I'll kill his kid and then drag your ass out of here. What's it gonna be?" He screamed. I flinched, but stood my ground.
"I'll go with you." I whispered.
"What was that?" He asked me, demanding that I speak louder.
"I'll go with you." I repeated, raising my voice.
"Damn straight you will. You won't even recognize yourself, when I'm done with you. Jax is in for the surprise of his life. This is gonna be fun." He snickered. He held a gun to the back of my head and his other hand grabbed my crotch and held me against him. I was fuming.
"Gemma, I'm going with Alex. Please don't do anything stupid! Just protect Abel!" I yelled, praying to God that she would actually listen to me.
"Kate –" She started to argue, but I cut her off.
"Please Gemma," I pleaded, as Alex forced me out of the house. He jerked me over to a run-down sedan and slammed my head on the side of the car. I blinked, but my vision was starting to blur.
"You think that hurt? Just wait, I'm just getting started." He promised. He banged my head again, before tossing me in the backseat and slamming the door behind me. What the fuck have I gotten myself into and how the hell am I going to get myself out?
Gemma's POV
Please pick up, damn it! Please pick up! I was bouncing Abel on hip, gently, trying to get him to calm down. He's been screaming since Alex took Kate. He's feeding off of my distress.
"What is it Ma?" Jax asked me. I closed my eyes in relief.
"Jax, thank God, Alex was hear. He took Katie. She got a shot in, but not enough to take him down. He gave her a choice. Do you hear me? He told her to come with him or that he would kill your son and then drag her out of here. They just left. They haven't been gone long. Please find her. God, please find her." I cried. My voice shook and I realized just how much of a mess I was.
"Mom, Mom, listen to me. We're going to find her. Dylan and Ope are on their way to the house. This is our fault. This is on us, because we left you unprotected. I love you. I'll keep you updated. We have to go. Give Abel a kiss for me."
Kate's POV
I keep falling in and out of consciousness. Just how hard did he hit my head? My stomach lurched. I turned my head and started to vomit on the floor of car. He didn't say anything, so I guess he doesn't really care. Lucky me.
"We're almost there, Kate. Don't worry. I'll make you feel just at home. You'll never forget who you really belong to. Because after tonight, you'll always be mine."
