Chapter 17: The Fall of the Citadel of Bone…Or Is It?
"Hello Chiro, I've been waiting for you," The Skeleton King said with his eerie tone. The boy hesitantly took a few steps forward and pointed at him, doing his best not to have his voice waver.
"Your reign of terror ends here Skeleton King!"
"Your efforts are in vein boy. Both you and that pathetic monkey team of yours shall bow down to my power while I destroy you!" Chiro was going to go in and do a punching attack on him, but without the Skeleton King even getting up from his throne he raised up his hand and with some kind of black magic levitated Chiro up from off of the ground. He smashed him repeatedly on the ground before pushing him against the wall, he followed by Chiro collapsing onto the floor. He struggled to push himself up on his feet and tried finding the strength to defeat him once and for all. The Skeleton King laughed with amusement and said,
"No matter how hard you struggle Chiro, the results are going to be the same. Do you really think you can win?"
"I have my friends by my side!"
"Far from it! Soon your monkeys are going to become mine, your robot is in bondage and Azalea now serves me once again. What makes you think that you can win against me?" Chiro smirked and panted to catch his breath.
"And what makes you think I can't?" The Skeleton King used his scepter to blast a beam of purple magic at him. Chiro dodged out of the way and instead the power hit the floor, leaving a dent in the floor. The Skeleton King clutched his chest and appeared to be enduring pain.
"Why are you doing this Skeleton King?! It doesn't have to be this way!"
"Shut up boy! What do you know about me? Nothing! Know your place you pathetic worm!" The Skeleton King arose from his throne and tossed his cape aside. He rushed in towards Chiro and assaulted him with his scepter. Chiro managed to maneuver away from a few of his attacks, but ended up getting hit over the head with the top of his staff. For a moment there he began seeing stars and almost passed out. From there while he was stunned for a few seconds the Skeleton King once again let out another evil purple beam, coming from his staff at him and Chiro gave way onto the ground. He felt pain radiate throughout his entire body and the dark magic he was using on him, tried to consume him whole. The Skeleton King sneered at him. He raised his free hand again and had him float in the air and crashed into the wall again.
"Now Chiro this is the end for you. DIE!"
So abruptly before the Skeleton King could do anything else Chiro thought it was about time to make his epic comeback. He began to foster the Power Primate deep within himself and remembered Antuari's teachings in his training. For the first time Chiro's eyes became a neon green instead of blue. He had the green aura of the Power Primate envelop his entire being and had the substitute of the ape become the extension of his body. The Skeleton King grew wide eyed and stopped his black beam of magic from attacking him, since it now had no effect on him. He took a few steps back and it was now time for the Skeleton King to take the beating. With all of his might Chiro took the Skeleton King by his bony legs and over and over again slapped him on the ground back and forth, like he was getting rid of the excess water out of a towel. Afterwards Chiro then flung the Skeleton King against the wall like he did with him and stunned him. Chiro stood there with his giant green ape avatar surrounding him and gasped for breath. He put all of his vitality and hatred into those blows. He doesn't think that he could keep this up by himself for very long.
In no time the Skeleton King regained himself again. Sure he was a little hurt, but for as hard and fast as Chiro's blows were on him, he was still fine for the most part. When Chiro realized this he wondered if there was even a way to destroy the Skeleton King. He was certainly powerful, but if nobody came to help him soon then he wouldn't make it.
"You'll pay for that boy!" Chiro let out a yell and took the Skeleton King by the head and threw him into the Pit of Ooze. He slowly sank into the black muck until not even his head was anywhere in sight. Chiro wondered if the Skeleton King was dead yet.
Just when the boy got his hopes up the Skeleton King arose from the Pit of Ooze, now looking more intimidating then before. He was bigger and his entire bone structure was covered in thick black ooze, with the whites of his teeth showing and his red eyes glowing from underneath the muck that devoured him. The Skeleton King punched through Chiro's green gorilla avatar, which got him and the Power Primate aura dissipated from him as he fell to the ground, now back to square one. Chiro felt fatigue taking over him and felt like he couldn't go on anymore.
Recently when the thought of giving up passed through his thoughts Azalea came in through the entrance of the throne room. Before The Skeleton King could get another blow on the boy she furiously charged in at him and with sword in hand she cut his right hand off like butter. The Skeleton King staggered back and Azalea jabbed the tip of her sword into the floor of the Citadel of Bone, cracking the ground. The villain grew weaker when she did that and had him pause so that he could endure the pain. Azalea paced over to Chiro and held out her hand to him.
"Chiro! Are you alright?" He took her hand and helped him pull himself back up onto his feet.
"Yeah, but how did you…?"
"Change back?" she finished. "Don't know. When I woke up I was on the floor in front of the throne room and heard what was happening. So I thought that while I was kicking Mandarin and Sakka's asses that I'd free your little monkey team. They should be coming any…"
Before Azalea could finish her sentence the robot monkeys made their extreme and awesome entrance into the throne room. She sweat dropped that they came in at the right time.
"Minute…now…." She finished. They came in, not by using the front door, but by breaking the wall next to the door down. She waved with her sword hand.
"Hey guys glad to see you, but…you could've used the front door that was just right there!" She gestured to the already opened door.
"Yeah, but coming in this way is so much cooler looking," said Sparx.
"Umm…okay."
"Enough talk team!" Antauri exclaimed. "We need to finish off the Skeleton King!"
"Right," the team said. Chiro got his spirits back up now that they had the advantage. He pumped his fist up in the air and shouted,
"Hyper Force, Go!"
One by one each of the monkeys used their hand weapons to do one of their most powerful moves on the Skeleton King that was covered in ooze. With each blow that the Skeleton King took he staggered back even more until he was up against the wall and was greatly weakened from the assaults. He sank back into his throne and the ooze that was covering him melted away off his bones, until he was back to his old self. That's when they knew that it was time to finish him off once and for all. Now that they all knew the Skeleton King's weakness they were confident that this would be their first and final meeting. Azalea was the first one to stab her sword into the floor of the Citadel of Bone. The monkeys and Chiro helped her out by aiming at the cracks that she put in it, widening the gaps in-between them, until the Citadel of Bone was falling apart.
"NOOOO!" The Skeleton King shrieked. He was powerless to do anything against them now. Now that they've done a number on the Citadel of Bone, they saw that the place was heading to an asteroid field that would finish it off for them. The only problem was that they needed to get out of there fast or else they were all going to go down with the Skeleton King. All five of the robot monkeys used the Power Primate through Chiro to release their Super Robot from bondage and to have it fly to their location.
With that the monkey team and Chiro helped Azalea inside and they flew away. She looked out of a small window and the Citadel of Bone was getting smaller and smaller with every passing second. Azalea saw that the fortress was getting beaten up from the asteroid belt and how it exploded into a billion pieces. She smiled and was glad that she won't ever have to go to that place or hopefully work for him ever again.
When they arrived to Shuggazoom city and had their robot land on solid ground they all breathed a sigh of relief. All of that time that they used to fight against the Skeleton King; it was all worth it in the end. They've won. Azalea took a load off on one of the pod chairs and leaned against it with her head behind her head. She gazed at the sheathed sword in her hand and how much she loved using her Sword of Destruction. It's like they made the perfect team.
It wasn't long before Ivan and Jinmay came into the Super Robot. Ivan ran up to Azalea and gave her a big hug while she was sitting on the pod chair. Jinmay did the same for Chiro and she gave him a peck on the cheek, leaving his face flush red. Azalea snickered at the scene and thought about how they made such a cute couple.
"Did you defeat the Skeleton King?" Ivan asked.
"You bet we did!" Azalea replied.
"Actually we're not too sure if we've destroyed the Skeleton King or not," said Gibson. "But we did leave his Citadel of Bone in ruins."
"Well whatever," said Azalea. "We still won and that's all that matters." Ivan pumped his fist in the air.
"Yeah! Let's savor the victory against that ol' bone bags!"
"I'm just glad that you all came back in one piece," said Jinmay.
"But we still have some unfinished business we need to attend to," Nova said seriously. Their uplifting and positive attitude soon crumbled like the fortress when Nova kicked Azalea in the chest. She clutched onto her abdomen and growled,
"What the hell was that for?!"
"For almost killing Chiro!"
Suddenly it came back to Azalea. This felt like that time ago when she snapped back in reality at the Death Arena. If she didn't come back to her senses then, then they all really would've died by her hands, but this time…she really would've done it. Nova's cold words pierced through Azalea just as deeply as the kick she earned. Nobody could think of any words of comfort for her, but that didn't matter anyway. She hated it when she got sympathy from others, especially Chiro. She thought it was disgusting.
"Azalea wouldn't do anything like that on her own!" Ivan shouted. "You have to remember that the Skeleton King can purposely bring forth her other side!"
"And that's why she's so dangerous!" said Nova. "I don't know who first wanted her to stay with us in the first place, but we all knew that she would eventually attack us again someday!" The more that the yellow monkey said the more terrified Azalea became. She stood in her place paralyzed; her face was blank, but everyone could see in her eyes that she was petrified.
"Nova! Enough!" Antauri exclaimed. "This is not going to get us anywhere." The red monkey agreed.
"Yeah, there were plenty of times before where we accidentally attacked one another. You know that more than anyone else here Nova." She thought about it for a minute and then realized that the others were right. She sighed.
"I'm sorry Azalea, I don't know what came over me there."
"I-It's alright," Azalea said softly. "You were right." She stared over at Chiro and noticed that he was also silent about the matter. She wondered if he was still angry at her for putting him through that. Its not like she wanted it to happen. Gibson cleared his throat and changed the subject.
"Anyway, if I may, how about instead of bickering about the matter, how about let's do something about it. If we can't get the brain chip out of Azalea, then I and Otto could be able to build a device that could transmit some sort of supersonic wave in order to turn off the brain chip." Chiro's face lightened up.
"That's a great idea Gibson! In that way we won't have to worry about the Skeleton King taking control of her again."
"Alright!" Otto cheered. "Let's get working on it!"
"But when is it going to be done?" Chiro asked.
"Not for a while yet, but it's better late than never. Ever since we've destroyed the Citadel of Bone, I wouldn't think that the Skeleton King would attack us for a long while now." Azalea's facial features softened and lightly smiled.
"That's a relief. So once this other chip is built I won't be able to worry about working for the Skeleton King again?"
"That's right," Sparx replied. "At least that's what big brains over here said." Azalea never felt so content before. She hasn't felt like this since the first day she came to Shuggazoom. She was so happy that she didn't realize that tears were streaming down her face. At first the team was concerned, but then she went into one of her moments where she felt like hugging everyone in sight. She grabbed Gibson and Otto in each arm and squeezed them until they were begging for air.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you guys! I love all of you so much! How could I ever repay you all?!" Azalea released the two monkeys and then embraced Chiro out of nowhere. It was only for a few moments before she broke apart from him and wiped the tears stained on her face, trying to regain her composure. She felt like deja vu just swept over her.
"You don't need to repay us," said Chiro. "You're our friend after all and friends help each other out." Azalea nodded.
"Yeah, besides, I don't think you guys would accept cash or credit anyway." All of them burst out into laughter and was glad that everything was all over, but somehow Azalea thought that this adventure with Chiro and the team was far from over. With new futures come with new challenges and obstacles to overcome. Sometimes Azalea did wonder if the Skeleton King was still out there. Binding his time to carefully wait for the perfect moment when they were all at their most vulnerable. That's just how the Skeleton King is.
