Chapter 27: A Secret Exposed

Emily and Maya wake up before Auntie Marin who is sleeping in with a much deserved day off. Quietly, the girls get up, shower, get dressed and eat a little something before taking a walk on the beach. The sun has risen as a warm breeze crosses the ocean increasing the air temperature little by little. Both girls have on jean shorts and thin tee shirts revealing a shadow where their bra covers them. They hold hands as their bare feet kick through the sand. They make their way over to the pier watching the waves crash against the wooden support beams. A soft mist sprays across their faces as they turn towards each other…

Maya takes Emily by her wrist leading her away from the ocean to a sunny spot on some rocks. She places the beach towel she brought with them on the smoothest rock she can find. She sits down looking up at Emily with a sweet smile and that head tilt tapping the space next to her. Emily smiles climbing onto the rock next to Maya who kisses her cheek signaling her to turn her head, where upon Maya kisses her lips.

"Are we okay?" Maya asks.

"We're more than okay. I thought you would realize that after last night," she kisses her back.

Maya gently cups Emily's cheek securing her lips against her. The kiss heats up as their lips part just enough to slip a soft warm tongue between them. Emily gladly accepts her gift savoring her touch and her taste until the loud crash of a wave disrupts their rhythm startling them back into reality. They give a soft giggle as they rest their foreheads against each other.

"Em, I do love you, you know that."

Emily lifts her head to look at Maya, "But…"

"Hmmm, more like, I will do whatever it takes to protect that love."

"Babe, I want you to. And I think it's sexy," she smiles with parted lips.

"Sexy, huh? Enough of the A's and the Chelsea's and whoever else…"

"Maya, you own my heart. Don't ever forget that."

Emily kisses her long and deep and hard. They fall back onto the rock, Emily draped over Maya proving to her that she really does own her heart. Maya bends her knee bracing her foot against the rock giving them more stability as Emily's kisses grow hungry. Her mouth opens wide encouraging Maya to open hers enrapturing her. Maya slips her hand behind her neck encouraging her to keep giving in to her passion, Emily is spellbound possessed by their love…

They lie back on the rock looking up at the clear blue sky feeling the heat of the sun against their skin.

Maya shades her eyes with her forearm, "I almost forgot where we were." She giggles.

"Maybe you shouldn't kiss me like that in public. I swear I get lost whenever you kiss me like that," Emily smiles all breathy.

They hold hands relaxing until Maya's phone buzzes. She sees she has two text messages and opens them, reads them and puts her phone back in her pocket.

"Is everything okay?" Emily asks suspicious of the texts.

"Yeah, we're invited to a bonfire tonight with the rest of the staff pretty much right here by the pier. Do you wanna go? It sounds like a lot of fun."

"Okay sure, it does sound like fun but I can tell there's something else."

Maya sits up, "Em, it's just someone being immature."

"What someone?" Emily sits up as well.

"It was Chelsea thanking me for introducing you to her."

"What a bitch move that was."

Maya tilts her head and her eyes widen, "Yeah it was. Listen she's bored. She saw how rattled I got and now she's turning this into a game."

"Well, someone better tell her that we're not playing," Emily scorns.

Maya acts like she's unfazed by the text but she isn't. She doesn't want Emily to worry so she shrugs it off but really she's concerned about the damage Chelsea could cause…

When Emily and Maya get back, they have lunch with Auntie Marin before getting ready for work. Maya's aunt questions them about the restaurant and if there are any problems she should be aware of. The girls assure her that everything is fine. Emily tells her that she can handle her hostess duties without Chelsea hanging over her and Auntie Marin agrees. She still needs them to work together but as equals. Auntie Marin tells the girls that she has already spoken to Chelsea about and she's on board. Emily looks at Maya suspicious of Chelsea's reaction. They choose not to say anything about Chelsea's behavior towards Emily because they don't want to stress out Maya's aunt but more importantly Maya doesn't trust Chelsea to not turn the situation into somehow being Emily's fault…

At the Restaurant…

Its happy hour which will soon turn into the dinner rush so everyone is busy including Emily who remains professional around Chelsea while Maya keeps a watchful eye. But before the dinner rush starts, she and Emily take a much needed break at their secret rendezvous place…

Maya has her hands at Emily's waist discreetly feeling down her backside while Emily holds Maya against her kissing her sweetly until Maya makes a discovery…

"Are you seriously not wearing any panties? You can't do that in the food service industry!"

"Relax Maya, I was wearing them in the restaurant but I took them off right before we came out here."

"Oh really, and why's that?" she winks.

"I thought we could save some time removing them and spend more time doing something else," she smiles coyly.

"Something else?" Maya smiles seductively carefully gathering the fabric of Emily's dress with her fingertips exposing her secret.

The warm ocean air breezes over her bare essentials as Maya cups her smoothness, "Is this what you want?" She breathes beneath her earlobe.

"Yes," she husks against Maya's neck.

Maya moves her fingers expertly along her silky lips rubbing circles over her clit. Their mouths ignite with kisses of lust and desire feeding a greater arousal from thoughts of being discovered at any given moment but that doesn't stop them.

"My….ya," Emily can no longer keep inside herself as Maya's mouth traces her jawline to her neck and back again.

Emily slips her hands under Maya's shirt needing to feel her skin against her. They travel up to her bra pushing it over her flesh so she can squeeze her and tug at her firmness. Their lips crash as their passion heats up. Maya quickens her pace prompting Emily to tighten her hold of Maya's breasts.

"I'm cumming," Emily, with barely a voice, lets Maya know.

"Yeah baby, I feel you," Maya nuzzles into her neck.

She has Emily against the wall locking eyes with her needing to watch her reaction as her fingers bring her over the edge. Maya grabs her mouth with hers to muffle her sounds of pleasure. Once Emily's body releases, Maya removes her fingers letting Emily taste her own succulence. And then she tastes Emily slipping her tongue into her mouth savoring her with a satisfied smile.

"Baby, you're too wet to let your dress down. Let me take care of that for you," she slowly moves down her body inhaling her scent.

Emily braces herself as Maya licks from the back of her slit to the front spreading her folds kissing and sucking and licking her with the flat of her tongue. Emily's legs spread a touch wider as she can't help rocking slowly against her face. Maya opens her mouth wide being sure to lap up any and all evidence of her flowing juices…

She pulls Emily's dress down to cover her exposed beauty then stands up thanking her with a kiss.

"Damn it Maya, I just wanna go home and…" she lowers her voice, "fuck you through the night."

"Damn woman, now that's all I'll be thinking about until we leave."

They giggle into a kiss.

"We better go," Maya says fixing her bra.

"Yeah, I have to put my panties back on," she winks.

As their shift is about to end, one of the wait staff starts talking to Maya, "Hey, so I'll see ya at the bonfire later?"

"Bonfire?" Maya asks.

"Maya, did you forget? Everyone's going. You and Emily have to go. It's a great way for all of us to let loose after a long week. Come on, say you'll go."

"Okay, okay, we'll be there but we have to go home and change first," Maya says remembering the text she got this morning.

"Most of us do so meet us by the pier, okay?"

"Yeah sure, see ya."

Maya tells Emily that they have to postpone their lovefest because they need to go to the bonfire that they forgot about.

"Maya, do we have to?" Emily asks with puppy dog eyes.

"Look, we need all the allies we can get. I think it's a good idea. And this way everyone will know that you're with me," she urges.

"Especially Chelsea," she had to get in.

"Okay, let's hurry up then cuz I don't want to be there all night. I have other things to do," Maya eye sexes Emily.

"What other things?" Emily asks all innocently.

"I think you know," she winks.

At the Bonfire…

The girls change into jean shorts, t-shirts and sweatshirts. They skip the shoes walking barefoot to where they were this morning by the pier. As they approach, they see the fire reaching towards the heavens, their co-workers talking and laughing with girlfriends and boyfriends and then they see Chelsea…

"Are you up for this?" Maya asks.

"I'm up for anything when I'm with you," she squeezes her hand. "Anyway we worked together pretty much all night and nothing happened. And now that I'm thinking about it, I wonder if I should be worried," Emily thinks out loud.

"Don't do that to yourself. Let's just have fun and anyway there are plenty of witnesses if she tries anything," Maya convinces her.

"You're right," she agrees with her eyes.

Emily and Maya help themselves to the keg, drinking and laughing and talking with their friends from work, even Chelsea seems to be having fun. But as the night goes on, so does the drinking. Maya tells Emily she's going to pee behind some rocks and Emily just laughs watching her disappear with two other co-workers.

Emily sits on one of the giant logs by the fire while she waits for Maya and that's when Chelsea decides to approach her…

"Hey Emily, can I sit with you?" Chelsea asks tentatively.

Emily isn't so sure that's a good idea but she nods her okay.

"I know I can be pretty brash at times and I know I made you uncomfortable. I'm sorry for that and I'm sorry about the text I sent Maya," Chelsea appears to be sincere.

Emily looks at her surprised yet appreciative of her apology, "Thanks. I'm glad you understand how you made me feel."

"I do. And since we'll be working together, I don't want it to feel weird," she says sliding her hand up and down Emily's arm.

Emily doesn't know what to make of this but it's too late, Maya spies them in the background.

"Hey, what's going on here?" Maya charges over.

Emily jumps up standing between her and Chelsea trying to explain.

"It's nothing. Chelsea was just apologizing for what happened the other night and for the text she sent you," Emily tries to defuse the situation.

"And she needed to touch you to do that?" Maya raises her voice.

Chelsea takes a step closer, "It's not what you think."

"It isn't. So why don't you tell me what I should think," Maya challenges.

"Are you sure you want me to do that?" Chelsea calls her bluff.

Maya glares and this time Emily's the one who tilts her head confused by Chelsea's comment.

"What's she talking about Maya?" Emily asks.

"Maya didn't tell you?" Chelsea lights up, desperate to let the cat out of the bag.

"Tell me what?" Emily asks still not knowing what Chelsea is getting at.

"Chelsea that's enough. It's the alcohol talking," Maya insists.

"No, no it isn't. I've been drinking soda," she spills out her coke.

"Would someone please tell me what the fuck is going on!" Emily demands.

"Chelsea, don't," Maya warns.

"It was never you I was interested in Emily. Yeah you're a beautiful girl but you're no Maya St. Germain," Chelsea reveals eye sexing Maya.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Emily glares.

"Emily let's go," Maya grabs her by the wrist.

"NO! What do you mean?" Emily pulls away.

Chelsea has a wide grin on her face, "I've known Maya a long time. We would hang out most summers until she moved to Pennsylvania."

"You knew each other?" Emily is surprised by this latest development.

"Our families know each other and she's been working at my aunt's restaurant since she was sixteen. It's no big deal," Maya tries to downplay.

"Really, cuz making out and falling asleep in each other's arms under the stars seems like a pretty big deal to me," Chelsea revels in the moment.

"Maya, is this true?" Emily asks feeling the hurt surround her heart.

"Emily, I didn't know you then. What Chelsea and I did or didn't do shouldn't matter," Maya tries to lessen the seemingly enormity of the situation.

"I'll leave you two alone," Chelsea walks away knowing exactly what she just did, she played the game and she won.

"But even when she flirted with me you said nothing. Maya, you're the one who fucked her not me!" Emily screams.

Tears stream down Emily's face as she tries to run from Maya but Maya catches up to her needing to explain.

"She's in the past. I never loved her. It was just fun. You were with others before me too. But I don't care about any of them because I'm the one you love and you're the one I love. You're the one who owns my heart. You're the one I choose always and forever," Maya pleads with her heart.

"You should've told me…" Tears leak from her eyes, her shoulders fall forward, her head drops, "You knew about my dating past. I even told you about Ali. I trusted you to tell me too. After everything, we promised no more secrets. I trusted you Maya."

"Em, you still can," she tries to touch her arm.

"Don't, I need to be alone. Please just leave me alone," she pulls her arm away before Maya can embrace it.

Emily walks back to the house while Maya contemplates whether or not to go after her. She wants to respect Emily by giving her space and time to think so she turns around and heads back to the bonfire to confront Chelsea but it's too late, she's gone. But all is not lost, her friends from work, the ones she knew before moving, encourage her to hang with them and smoke with them like she used to…

At Auntie Marin's…

After a couple hours, Maya opens the slider door to a very quiet house. She calls out but no one responds. She knocks on Emily's bedroom door but she doesn't answer so she lets herself in. And to Maya's shock, some of Emily's drawers are empty and her bathroom is pretty much cleared out. Maya is about to yell to her Auntie when she sees her stepping off the last stair looking up at Maya with sadness on her face…

"Auntie, what is it? Has something happened to Emily?" Maya worries.

"She's gone."

"She's what?" Maya asks not understanding what she means by "gone".

"Her mom came to surprise her. When Emily saw her she broke down in tears and begged her mother to take her home."

A tear rolls down Maya's face, "what are you saying?"

"I'm sorry Maya. I'm so sorry," she embraces Maya holding her as her body shakes against her.

Maya tries desperately to compose herself, "I don't believe it! She wouldn't just up and leave!"

"Maya," Auntie Marin tries desperately to quiet her down so she will focus on her words. "She's gone. Emily is gone…"
