EPOV
Oliver avoided me like the plague after Jasper spoke with his father. It was a brief and rather blunt conversation on my fiancé's part. Bottom line, Oliver was to stay away from me.
I loved it.
Good. Something, or rather, the amazing guy in my life had finally gotten through to Oliver and taken him off his stupid path. Jasper had been right. He did know Oliver's type. Then again, so did I. I just didn't care enough to pay attention. Oliver was nothing but a snotty rich kid. I figured if I said 'no' enough, it would get through his thick skull.
Jasper wasn't about to wait for that. When Oliver approached him with his bullshit, Jasper threatened his inheritance, making Oliver back off immediately.
Oliver couldn't top Jasper.
That was my job.
It was a cheeky thought to have while I sat across from Jasper as we had lunch. Class had ended and I wanted to see Jasper before going to work. Today was a good day. Becky and Lily were excited about the wedding being in two weeks, but Becky didn't get why I wasn't wearing an engagement ring yet. Personally, I didn't care. If he gave me a ring now or on our wedding day all that truly mattered was Jasper.
Watching him now as he sat on the opposite side of this desk, he looked so good. Jasper was ruggedly handsome. He was your guy's guy. He was what every guy wanted to look like and who every girl or gay guy wanted to fuck.
"What are you thinking about?" His smooth voice broke through my fantasy of screaming his name while he fucked me over his desk.
"Huh?" It was all I could come up with. Staring at him for too long, caused my brain to shut down involuntarily.
Jasper chuckled. "You were staring at some invisible spot on my desk and breathing heavily, so please, do share what you're thinking."
He was being sarcastic and it was so sexy. Sometimes, I wanted to pinch myself. I needed a reminder that this was real. Jasper was mine and I was about to spend my life with him. I wasn't on the street anymore. I had realized the truth about my parents. I wasn't at anyone's mercy. I was living my own life…happily.
I decided to be honest. "I was thinking about you taking me over your desk."
Jasper shifted in his chair and chuckled. The mere sound of it did things to me. "I think it's a really good thought," he said huskily. "One we should put some consideration into."
"So you agree then?" I asked him.
"We should do that soon."
"I remember the last time," I told him. And I did and wouldn't mind a repeat.
He smiled. "I do too."
We continued lunch. Our talks drifting from sex and into our wedding. I don't know how it did, but it did. I supposed it was because Joanne had been sending ideas she wanted our opinion on when it came to the proper decorations for the wedding ceremony.
So we started joking around about it and Jasper said, with me being the bride, it would be whatever I said.
I cocked an eyebrow at him. "I'll go bridezilla on your ass if you call me a bride one more time and then we'll see where that gets us," I threatened, grabbing the other half of his sandwich and biting into it.
Jasper watched me devour the rest of his food. "You know, I like Turkey on Rye and I wasn't finished eating."
I pushed my cheeseburger to him. He turned up his nose at it. "I don't want a cheeseburger. I wanted turkey on rye."
"Too bad." I scoffed. "You called me a bridezilla."
"That's it," he said, slapping his desk and springing up. He stomped around it and went to his office door. He locked it and I jumped up and ran to the other side of his desk.
"You wouldn't."
He pulled his belt off and popped the button on his pants.
"We went at it all night and once this morning," I reasoned. "It's not possible."
"What are you trying to say?" He looked offended and I immediately felt bad.
I came around the desk and went to him. "Jasper, I was playing this morning with the Grandpa thing."
I was mistaken. He wasn't offended. His cunning smile told me so. He grabbed me, placing a hand over my mouth when I tried to scream. God! He was strong. He walked us over to his desk, throwing me down on top of it. Whenever I tried to get up, he pushed me back down. He said nothing. Only nipped, kissed and sucked on my neck, rendering me invalid whenever I tried to escape. He roughly pulled my pants down and took my cock in hand, stroking it until I found myself begging for him to take me.
And he did. Jasper prepared me and filled me, pounding into me repeatedly. At times, it felt like he wasn't going to stop. I held on to the other end of the desk for dear life while he plummeted into me.
"God! Jasper! Oh God!" I moaned. "Baby! You feel so…uuhh…good!"
"Fuck, baby, you're so fucking tight."
I loved his dirty mouth. I loved the way his cock pushed into me. The depths of me wanted more and more as he fucked me.
My hard cock was trapped between my stomach and the desk. I felt like I wanted to come. "Jasper, I need…"
"I know…I want to, baby. I want to come too. Come with me, Edward!"
My body was too charged to resist his command. We grunted our release. Jasper filled me with his essence. I spew cum on my stomach and his desk.
We laughed and kissed as we cleaned up and replaced everything we had slapped off his desk. Jasper ate the rest of my cheeseburger. He was too kind. I knew he wasn't angry.
Before I left, we replied to Joanne with our choice and she responded with, "Good choice!"
Jasper pulled me into his arms and kissed me sweetly. "I want to give you something and I don't want to wait another minute to. I know I'm doing this wrong. It should be given to you over a romantic dinner under candlelight and…"
I cut him off, reminding him of how non-traditional we were. "Jasper, if it's my engagement ring, I want it now. I was wondering when you were going to put it on my finger. I want everyone to know I'm about to be yours forever. As for candlelit dinners, we've got a lifetime of them. Along with hot sex, angry sex, making love until our bodies refuse to function. Love, we met in the red light district because I was kicked out of my family home for being gay and the heir to the family fortune. We don't do anything the right way."
His face lit up with a smile then he started to laugh as he let me go long enough to go and get the little black box from his desk drawer.
He returned and dropped to his knee in front of me, opening the box to reveal a gold ring. "Edward Masen, I love you with all my heart. You are my joy, my life and my truth. Will you be mine forever?"
I let him slide the ring on my finger and then I answered as tears happily pooled in my eyes. "Jasper Whitlock, yes I will be your forever. I love you too. You are my home. With you, I know what it is to be truly and completed loved. There will be no other."
I left school and went to work on a cloud. Becky and Lily grabbed my hand as soon as I walked up to the counter to gush over my ring.
"Oh my God! It's so beautiful!" Becky said cheerily. I beamed with pride. "Jasper loves you so much!"
"He really does," Lily said, shaking her head and winking at me. "It is a beautiful ring."
"It's a Harry Winston." My body froze instantly. Mercy.
I slowed turned around to see her standing there with a small smile on her face. She was wearing tight jeans and tight top and huge sunglasses which weren't needed in the overcast weather we have been having. Becky and Lily smiled at her and she nodded. They left the counter, giving me and Mercy privacy. "So how about a coffee?" she said.
"Why are you wearing those glasses?"
She raised an eyebrow at me. "Why are you wearing your glasses?"
"Some punks jumped and beat me up. I can't see too good without them," I answered without missing a beat.
I never told her what happened to me.
"Oh."
"So why?"
"How about the coffee?"
"You're too young."
Mercy laughed. "I'm old enough to put it on you."
I smiled. "How did you know about my ring?"
"I snooped." Was all she offered.
"Alright." I got her the coffee and a bagel even though she didn't ask. She looked so thin. Had she lost weight since the last time I have seen her? It had only been a couple of days. Embry had been giving me details on her. Shit I didn't want to hear but had to listen to anyways. She was working. I knew all too well what that meant. Mikey had her working his money. She looked tired. She looked like she could sleep for a week.
Mercy stayed for a while I worked. I kept an eye on her. I didn't want her to leave before we could talk. When I finally got my break, we talked.
"You look tired." I observed.
"Big party last night," she said with a shrug.
"More than one guy?"
"A frat guy and three of his friends. They had a…lot of demands."
"Did they give you the black eye you're hiding from me?"
She took the glasses off. Her left eye was open but around it was blackened. "No. Mikey did. I yelled at him."
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be. You're not the bastard."
"I still am." I wonder if it was because of Embry approaching him. Embry told me he broke up a fight between them the other night. "Mind telling me why he yelled at you?"
"I wouldn't fuck him. He took what he wanted anyways. You know how it is."
"I'm sorry." I wanted to hurt the bastard. This was…no. I had to stop myself. We had to be careful about this.
Mercy waved it off. "I had some time so I came up here for the best coffee in the city and to see if you and Jasper were married yet."
"In two weeks. It's a red and white theme. It will be at his family's place in the Hamptons."
"Snazzy!" She laughed. "Sounds good, babe. I'm happy for you."
"Yeah," I said with a smile. I wasn't going to stress her out with reminding her that I wanted to help and Jasper was ready to pull her out. "Tanya's pregnant."
"Ha! I knew that was coming," she said with a grin. "She and Jake were too hot for each other not to procreate. What about you and Jasper? You thinking about a couple of kids?"
"Yeah. We want kids," I said with a smile. I wanted a family with Jasper. He was going to be a great father.
"Good. Treat them well," she said.
"Mercy, we still want to help you." I knew I shouldn't. It would make her run off. But I couldn't, in good conscience, not try to help. She had to know.
She leaned in close. "I know about Embry. I know what you're doing. If Mikey finds out, I'm dead."
"I understand," I leaned in and said.
"Do you?" She hissed. "You didn't have a pimp! Your money and decision was yours. That's what makes our situations different. You were free. I'm not! I don't have a Jasper to pull me out. And even if I did, Mikey would put a bullet in him. I'm his best moneymaker, Edward. I told you this." She resigned, throwing herself back against her chair.
I felt defeated as I threw myself back against mine too, mirroring her position. "I don't know what to do. I just want to get you out."
"It won't be easy. It might not work at all. It's why I told you and Jasper to back off," she said. "I don't want you guys getting your hopes up. I admire what you're trying to do for me, I really do. It's more than what anyone has ever done. I'm so thankful I met you, Edward. You and Jasper are wonderful."
As she spoke, I felt like crying. She was so thoughtful and kind. I could see it. So beautiful and intelligent. I let myself dream for a second and I could see her graduating from college with honors. My own Psych professor was already singing me praises for my school work and completes essays, assignments and so forth. My grades were maintaining a solid 4.0 and I could see Mercy doing the same. She was capable of it. I just wished I could pull her out and show her she could do it.
"I know you see a future for me," she said with a knowing smile. "I see it in your eyes. But you know the reality."
She was getting ready to leave. I jumped up as she moved to get up. She had already thrown a twenty dollar bill on the table. "No! Don't leave! Please! Have dinner with us?" I wasn't above begging.
"It's too early for dinner," she countered, wiping a tear away.
"I don't care. I don't want you to go yet."
As if fate was on my side, Jasper walked into the coffeehouse. How long had I been sitting here? I looked behind me and saw Emmett pointing to the clock on the wall. He mouthed 'see you tomorrow'. He was a good boss. He saw the situation and didn't bother to interrupt me and Mercy. Becky and Lily walked by, bidding us goodbye. They smiled and greeted Jasper as they went out the door Jasper was holding open for them. He then walked briskly over to Mercy and me, pulling her into a strong hug. He lifted her off her feet, making her laugh heartily.
"Bored with Edward, babe?" She joked. "Yeah. Spend an hour with him and I'd miss me too," she said when Jasper set her down and pulled away to look at her. He touched her eye wordlessly and then met my eyes for an explanation. I could see the next words coming out of his mouth before he said them.
"You're not going back!" He ordered.
Mercy rolled her eyes. "Not you too. I just went through this with Edward. Listen, I'll have the early dinner with you guys but I've got to get back before Mikey come looking."
Jasper was about to say something, but I cut him off, making him scowl at me. "Alright! Let's go. We're taking you to the finest restaurant in town. I'm buying and I'm not taking no for an answer from anyone." Jasper and Mercy both tried to argue but I wasn't having it.
I didn't want to hear it. I wanted to spend time with Mercy before I had to let her go.
We found a restaurant and bribed our way in without a reservation. The Whitlock name carried a lot of power. We sat down in the middle of one of the finest places in town, dressed casually instead of the somewhat formal wear required. We ate, drank and laughed until the impending end came all too soon. We followed Mercy out of the restaurant after I paid and left the waiter a hefty tip.
She scoffed and rolled her eyes at Jasper and me as we both wordlessly stared at her, bidding her with our sorrowful eyes to stay. "Hey, come on. We'll see each other again."
"We don't want you to go back," Jasper shared.
"I know," she replied, suddenly interested in something on the ground. "I don't want to go back either. There's something about you two. You make me want to…live."
I was about to say something, but Mercy held her hand up. "I want you guys to be happy. I hope your wedding is spectacular. You both deserve nothing but the best. Thanks."
Why did it sound like a goodbye? Didn't she say we'd see each other again? I wasn't ready to let her go.
I tried to talk again. She held her hand up. "Don't, Edward. I don't want this to be any harder."
Mercy turned and walked away.
I stood there with my hand firmly in Jasper's, watching her weaving her way in and out of passer-bys on the busy sidewalk.
"There has to be a way," Jasper's voice made me turn to him.
I couldn't answer him, because I desperately wanted there to be. I simply turned my head around in time to catch a glimpse of Mercy as she disappeared around a corner.
