"Nice to see you too, Doc!" the stranger said, pushing his way past the Doctor and walking into the TARDIS. "Oh, and who is this gorgeous young lady?"

"Jack Harkness! Don't you dare" the Doctor barked as he spun around and glared at Jack.

"What? A guy can't say hello?"

"Not to my daughter he can't. And especially not you!"

"Wait! Are you serious? You never mentioned anything about a daughter?" He then turned towards me. "Are you really Doc's daughter?"

"If by Doc you mean him then yeah" I responded. "And I have a name. It's Violet."

"Violet. What a beautiful name for a beautiful…"

"Jack, so help me if you finish that sentence!" the Doctor bellowed.

"Oi! Rude Doctor!"

"Yep. Rude and not ginger. That's me!"

"So are you a time traveler too, Jack?" I asked him.

"Sure am. All the way from 51st century Earth."

"America, I presume?" He nodded. "Which part?"

"California. San Diego."

"Nice! I'm from Springfield, Illinois."

"No. You're from Gallifrey" the Doctor corrected in a snide tone. "And Jack, where the hell did you get San Diego from? You told me you were from the Boe Shane Peninsula."

"And you told me that you were the last Time Lord in existence Doc. That you'd be able to sense if there was another Time Lord in existence. Speaking of which, how'd you manage to miss that one?"

"Don't you dare turn this onto me, Jack. Come on, Violet; let's check out where we landed." He then opened the TARDIS doors and walked out, Jack and me following closely behind. I looked around at my surroundings. Of course! It was so typical of the Doctor to land us in the middle of a seemingly endless desert.

"Out of all the places to land…"

"What's wrong with where I landed?"

"A Desert, really? Scorching hot during the day and freezing at night. Yeah, absolutely nothing wrong with this at all" I said in a very sarcastic tone.

"You're a Time Lady. You'll adapt just fine."

"I'm not a Time Lord, Doc" Jack pointed out.

"You're not traveling with us, so your ability to adapt or lack thereof is not my problem."

"So Jack, I'm just curious, how'd you manage to find us in the first place?"

"I've been chasing the Doc for the past 20 years. Well 20 years for me. No idea how long it's been for him. Anyway, I've programmed my Vortex Manipulator to go wherever the TARDIS lands. I've always seemed to just miss him. Until now."

"You've been following me? What have you been doing that for?"

"You left me on Satellite 5, Doc. You left me there to die!'

"Well you look very much alive and well to me. Don't really see what you need me for then."

"Jeez. Do you have to be so rude to him? He deserves an explanation. You at least owe him that much."

"You weren't there, Violet. You have no idea what happened. So stay out of this and keep your opinions to yourself."

"What'd he say?" Jack asked me. "I've never heard that language before and, believe me; I've heard many languages during my life."

"He was speaking Gallifreyian. And what he said isn't important." The Doctor's eyes widened at that statement and they turned dark and menacing, like there was a storm brewing behind them. I figured that this was probably why he was known as the Oncoming Storm.

"Violet Loretta Smith, back to the TARDIS now. Go into the console room and wait for me until I get back. Now go!" I stood there with my arms folded and just stared at him with the most intimidating glare that I could muster.

"Whoa, guys! Calm down. I'm sure we can talk this though."

"Shut up Jack!" the Doctor snapped, never once breaking eye-contact with me. "Fine" the Doctor finally said after about another minute, "if you won't go back on your own, I'll take you back there by force. He scooped me up off the ground and carried me back. I tried to squirm and wiggle free, but he had a really tight grip on me. Once we reached the TARDIS, he snapped his fingers and the doors flew open. The Doctor then placed me on the cushioned bench off to the side of the control room. "Right, then. Violet, you stay put. Jack you come with me." He grabbed Jack by the arm. Jack gave me a lopsided grin and a wink which was cut short by a sharp glare from the Doctor. The pair was soon gone and the door of the TARDIS quickly shut in my face.
