Once we were in Sick Bay, the Doctor took out his Sonic Screwdriver, first scanning me and then himself. Once that was completed, he inserted his Sonic into the same machine that he had earlier. The Doctor than sat down and studied the results closely. He triple checked the results in order to make sure he was reading them correctly. He was. "Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!" the Doctor said getting up and brining his hands to his head. "My brain is so stupid." He paced back and forth. "How could I not have seen this? All of the signs were there."
"What are you talking about? What's going on?" I said, beginning to panic.
"Violet, relax" the Doctor said, placing his hand on my trembling shoulder. "There was a third option I hadn't even considered. A good option."
"Well, what is it?" He sat down next to me and began to explain everything.
"As I've already told you, us Time Lords slash Ladies are telepathic beings. Remember?"
"How could I forget? Our telepathy almost killed me."
"Right. Well, thankfully it didn't. Anyway, because we're telepathic, we form these mental bonds with one another. That way, even if a Time Lord who we knew were to regenerate and we didn't know that they did, we would still be able to recognize them through this bond. When you were sent to Earth, your bond with all of the other Time Lords and Ladies were severed. Now that you've been in contact with me, another Time Lord, your mind has been trying to foster a bond with mine. Because you share some of my DNA, you were able to push past my mental barriers. Make sense?"
"Yeah. Couple of questions, though."
"Which are?"
"When you opened the one way connection with me, is that what triggered this?" The Doctor nodded. "Also, is the bond completed yet since we can both access one another's thoughts?"
"Almost. But not quite. Your mind is sending out a sort of request to connect with my mind. In order to complete it, my mind has to accept it. I promise you that I'll help you finish the bonding process, but you need to go to your room and rest first."
"But I'm not tired."
"You don't have to sleep. Just rest your mind" the Doctor told me. "Listen to some music or do some light reading. Something relaxing. I'll come check on you in a couple of hours, ok?" I nodded as I got up and headed towards my room. I went inside and shut the door behind me. I than grabbed the Anthology of Poe's works off of my nightstand, sat down on her bed and began to read it, becoming so immersed in the book.
"Violet," the Doctor called out. My head snapped up.
"Geez! You startled me." I grabbed a bookmark that the TARDIS had provided for me and stuck it in the book before placing it back onto my nightstand. "You do know that there's this thing called knocking, right?"
"Yes," he curtly responded. "And I don't appreciate your attitude. By the way, I did knock and heard no response. I grew worried and came in. Sorry for caring. I won't make that mistake again." I sighed.
"Did you need something?"
"It's been exactly two hours and I was coming back to bring you somewhere so we could finish developing your bond. But I'll leave you alone with your book if you want that instead."
"No it isn't. Please stay." The Doctor stood there in the doorway, not moving. "Look, I'm really sorry. You just scared me is all." The Doctor nodded.
"Alright then, follow me."
