A/N: Due to the fact that I am now going to school and doing an internship, my updates may not be as frequent as usual. I apologize for that. I will try my best to update whenever I can. Anyway, here's the next chapter. Hope you all enjoy!
The Doctor sent me off to bed that night with orders to get ample rest. I sat down on my bed and continued reading from my anthology of all of Poe's writings. I was about halfway through The Fall of the House of Usher when my eyelids grew heavy. I must have fallen asleep because, the next thing I knew, I woke up with the book lying on my chest. I took it off and placed it my night table. Then I got up, washed my face and brushed my hair before heading off to the console room. When I entered, I saw the Doctor fiddling with something underneath the console.
"Hey, so I'm just going to grab a bite to eat" I called out to him. "See you in a bit." I was about to turn away when the Doctor popped out from underneath the console.
"I'll join you. Have me a nice banana and a good 'ol cuppa."
"Cup of what?" The Doctor sighed as he shook his head.
"Right. You don't say that in America. How stupid of me to forget! Anyway, it's British slang for saying 'a cup of tea' and, oh Rassillion, those silly Apes are starting to rub off on me."
"Please, I act more human than you ever could."
"Which is my fault."
"Hey, humans aren't that bad. In fact, they're pretty darn awesome!"
"I suppose they do have a few positive attributes" the Doctor admitted.
"That's the spirit!" Once we were in the kitchen, I grabbed myself a peanut butter granola bar. The Doctor put on a kettle of tea and soniced it so it was done in five seconds flat. He walked over to the stove and poured some of the steaming Green Tea into two mugs and placed one of those mugs in front of me.
"Do you take anything in your tea?"
"Just some honey. But if you don't have any…"
"Oh, I do. I've got the best honey from the planet Agavelon. Did you know that the bee is sacred there?"
"Apparently the natives have never been stung by one."
"Oh, these bees don't sting. The live in harmony with the natives there."
"How nice for them" I sarcastically mumbled.
"I'll take you there one day so you can see for yourself." The Doctor reached into his pocket and pulled out a small glass jar filled with a thick dark amber colored substance and placed it from me. He then placed a small spoon next to the jar.
"Do I even want to know where that spoon came from? Or how long that jar has been in your pocket for?"
"I don't know. Do you?" The Doctor teased.
"Very funny." I took a spoonful and mixed it in with my tea. I then took a sip of my tea. It tasted sweet and smooth.
"Mm. Thanks!" I said handing the jar and spoon back to the Doctor. He then tossed the spoon into the kitchen sink and then proceeded to stick his fingers into the jar, scooping out some honey and licking them before putting said fingers back into the jar.
"Eww. Gross!" The Doctor immediately took his fingers out and gave me a look of pure bewilderment.
"What?"
"You double-dipped your fingers into the jar.
"Oh, sorry. Did you want some?" He offered me the jar.
"Not now I don't. You can keep it."
"I'll have you know that my fingers are perfectly clean."
"Whatever. Just drink your tea."
"Attitude" he chided.
"Sorry."
"Apology accepted. Don't let it happen again." I nodded.
"So, where are we headed today?"
"I was thinking Boston, 1835."
"What happened in…oh my God! Are you taking me where I think you are?"
"Depends on where you think I'm taking you."
"To meet Poe?" I anxiously asked. The Doctor smiled and nodded. "Oh my God! Thank you!"
"You're welcome, Violet. Now, just a quick, quick suggestion. You might want to consider changing your attire before we go there." I glanced down, suddenly remembering that I was still in my PJ's.
"Sure, absolutely. I'll go do that right now."
"Brilliant! Meet me in back in the console room in 15 minutes."
"Will do!" I said before I got up and headed towards my room, cup of tea still in hand.
