When I came to, I found myself in my bedroom aboard the TARDIS. I sat up and rubbed my eyes when I saw the Doctor sitting in a chair near my bed.
"What the hell did that woman do to me?" I cried out. The Doctor's head immediately popped up and he was instantly at my bedside.
"How are you feeling? Tired? Nauseous?"
"My head's a bit foggy."
"That's to be expected."
"River…she had no right!"
"I'm so sorry, Violet. I don't agree one bit with how River handled this, but I do agree with her that this mission was too dangerous for you to go on. See, she knows that you're my daughter and that's why she didn't want you coming and chancing anything happening to you."
"Where is she now?"
"In the console room."
"Fine. She can do whatever the hell she wants as long as I don't have to see her!"
"She had your best interests at heart. In fact, she still does."
"Why does she get to decide what my 'best interests' are? This is my life and my body and I cannot believe that you are ok with the fact that a total stranger drugged me!"
"I've already told you that I don't agree with how she handled this." Violet lay back down and turned away from the Doctor.
"Whatever. Just leave me alone." The Doctor sighed.
"I'm sorry, Violet, but there's something you need to know. I really think you should hear this from River…"
"I don't want to hear anything that woman has to say."
"Fine. I'll tell you then." I sat up.
"What?" I spat, once again turning towards him.
"Violet, River Song is…well, she's your birth mother and my wife."
"But, how is that even possible? You didn't even know who she was just now!"
"That's because she and I keep or will keep, in my case, meeting up in the wrong order. So, the first time she's met me is different than the first time that I met her" the Doctor explained.
"Ok, I'll buy that. But there is no way that today can be the first time you've met her since I was born before the Time War, which has already happened and, as you said, time-locked into place."
"I never said that today was the first time I met her. River met me for the first time before the Time War, which is when you were conceived. The second time she met me was the first time that I met her, still before the Time War, but at a different date. It was earlier in my time line but later in hers. With me so far?" I nodded. "That's when she was pregnant with you. Then we both met one another for a third time right before the start of the Time War. This is when she gave birth to you."
"Did you always remember this?" The Doctor shook his head.
"There came a point when River thought it would be best if you started your life fresh on Earth as a baby. That way you could live a normal and peaceful life. I disagreed and, back on Gallifrey, you needed the permission of both parents in order to do something as drastic as this unless one of the parent's was incapacitated. That's when River performed a complete memory wipe on me. Since I no longer had any recollection of ever having had a wife or child, she was able to get approval from the High Council to wipe all of your memories, revert you back to infancy and then send you to Earth.
"But it must have been illegal for her to wipe your memories like that?"
"It was, but River was really clever and used the Time War to her advantage. She managed to convince the High Council that I was suffering from amnesia due to Post Traumatic Stress caused by the Time War. No one looked all that deep into it because everyone's attention was focused on fighting and defeating the Daleks."
"But you remembered me. You remembered having a daughter named Violet. How come I never remembered you?"
"River's memory wipe was not as powerful as the High Council's was, so certain memories came back. I remembered having a daughter, but I didn't remember the fight with River or even having met River, so my mind filled in the gaps in order to explain your sudden disappearance."
"Which is why you thought I died in the Time War and thus never came looking for me?"
"Exactly."
"So, in other words, it's River's fault that I was stuck in a foster home and school where everyone hated me and I was abused? That's it. I want River to get the hell away from here and to stay far away from me for good!"
"Violet, I…"
"And I want you to leave my room. Please, just leave me alone right now" I said, tears starting to make their way down my face.
"Well, that's too bad because neither River nor I are going anywhere!"
