A/N: A huge thanks to Margie-me to all of your reviews! As for the rest of you, I don't even know if you're still interested in the story. Let me know that you're still reading it and what you think of it so far. I read all of my reviews and will take all of your suggestions into consideration!
I quickly ran back towards the burning city. Rain was pouring over it now, creating a thick blanket of smoke which was almost impossible to see through. As I got closer, I began to call out for River. "Hello? River? Are you there?" I kept running further and further into the smoke. As I was running, I felt something grab my wrist. I let out a scream.
"Sweetie, it's me." I turned towards the source of the sound.
"Oh, River, thank God! Are you ok?"
"Yes."
"Great. Let's get out of here. I can't even see you all of this smoke."
"I'll lead the way" River said as she pulled me along behind her. I ran to try and keep up with her ever-quickening pace.
"The Doctor thinks he knows what caused the fire" I told River. "One of the Mawkingees said that there was a big purple cloud that shot out a bolt of lightning. The thing is, he doesn't know why there would be a purple cloud."
"Yes, purple clouds do not exist here. There is one theory and it's just that, a theory. But I've heard of purple clouds existing in sorts of time storms."
"What's a time storm?"
"It occurs when there is some sort of temporal disturbance to a fixed point in time. Basically, someone or something is trying to alter that fixed point. The purple cloud, I think, is energy from the time vortex leaking out and the so-called lightning bolt is time itself fracturing."
"Wow! That's some theory. You should tell that to the Doctor."
"Tell me what?"
"River has this really intricate theory on the purple cloud." The Doctor turned towards River.
"Well, sweetie, I believe that there could very well be a possibility that…" River said as she began to reiterate everything that she had just told me.
"It is possible" the Doctor mused, "although time storms are quite rare. And the TARDIS didn't pick up on any fixed points, so what would be causing the rupture in the time vortex and the time fracture?"
"Could us being here have thrown something off?" I asked.
"No," the Doctor said. "As long as we don't cross our own timeline, we shouldn't cause any kind of temporal disturbance."
"Well, maybe one of the Mawkingees did something then?" I asked.
"There's no way" River said. "They don't even have a concept of time travel let alone access to it. No, there has to be some extrinsic force that we're missing."
"But what could it be?" I asked.
"Let's interview the group again" the Doctor suggested, "and see if any of them noticed anything out of the ordinary. Even the slightest anomaly could lead us to the cause of this alleged time storm."
"Where did they go?" I asked. The Doctor spun around.
"Strange. They were here just a moment ago."
"Well, they couldn't have gone far" River stated. "Come on, let's go find them." So off we went, in search of the missing Mawkingees.
