Pyrrha sighed as she sat at a desk in the library, pen scratching line after line on a homework assignment which was due. Thought she was disheartened a bit over losing Jaune to Yang, but a lot of the resentment had left. She was able to see things a bit more clearly now that the battle had been lost. All in all, she knew she shouldn't have snapped at Yang, and tried to have taken her confession about Jaune in stride, but the anger had been fast and off-throwing in a sense...

"I feel terrible..." She muttered.

Jaune was still surprise by this all had happened.

He was dating Yang Xiao long.

Yang. Xiao. Long.

Wow.

Arguably the most beautiful of the people to come to Beacon, with a fiery disposition and sharp wit. A woman after his own heart. Of course, even with them dating, her innuendos would throw him for a loop more often than naught. She would laughed at his raging blush and kiss him on the cheek as he stared down in flustered embarrassment. It was a regular thing for him.

Monty Oum he was lucky.

He ducked as a robot threw a punch at his head, he really should be focusing more when he was fighting, it wouldn't do to let his guard down because of a few errant thoughts. He slammed another of the robot's punches down with the edge of his shield and spun, slicing its head clean off. The robot crashed to the ground with a loud 'thunk' as the head hit the floor and rattled as it rolled slightly. Jaune sheathed his sword and made his way off the stage; he looked around before remembering his current situation regarding his partner.

Not as good as his love life.

He frowned as remembered Pyrrha had begun to drop more and more of their sparring sessions, he had barely been seeing her outside of class and nights in the dorm. Also, Yang and Pyrrha had been avoiding each other, near as he could tell anyway. He grabbed a water bottle and unscrewed the top before taking a quick gulp of water. Just then a familiar presence sat down next to him.

"Hey Ruby." He said smiling.

"Sup' Jaune?" she greeted, nibbling on a cookie.

"Eh, not much, homework, classes, wondering what your sister saw in me." He said.

She lightly slapped him in the shoulder, "Don't put yourself down like that." She chided with a bit of mock anger.

He chuckled and leaned back on his hands, "I am also a little worried about Pyrrha, she seems really closed off recently. I can't figure out why. I wanted to talk to her but she says she is busy and runs off. I also noticed how she seems to be skirting around Yang too. You think you know what the problem is?"

Ruby hesitated, "Well…"

She did know, she was sisters with Yang, and they told each other almost everything. She knew all about the screaming match in the secluded corner of the school. And how uneasy Yang felt about trying to talk about or to Pyrrha. Yang also told her Jaune probably never even suspected Pyrrha's feelings either.

Ruby had no trouble believing that, Jaune could be incredibly dense (and that was being nice about it).

"Jaune, what if someone liked you while you were dating Yang, and confronted you about it?" Ruby asked.

Jaune blinked at the sudden change of topic but shrugged, "I would appreciate it, but tell them I already have a wonderful girlfriend and have no intention of leaving her for a long time." He said, completely frank and earnest.

"What if it was someone who is a close friend?" Ruby said.

Jaune frowned, "It would stay the same, no matter what. Until Yang would want to leave me, which could happen, I want to be with her."

Ruby nodded, "You should ask Yang why Pyrrha is becoming so distant, maybe she would know."

And with that Ruby unfolded her scythe and made her way to the arena, leaving a thoroughly confused Jaune behind.

Jaune looked at the ground, analyzing the pattern on the floor as he made his way to Team RWBY's dorm room. He didn't understand what Ruby had wanted to know by asking those questions, he had already been given the 'I will kill you if you break her heart speech' by all of her teammates and her sister. So why ask him if he would leave her? Did Ruby want him to break up with her?

All this thinking was making his head spin.

He finally got to Yang's room and rapped smartly on the door.

Blake opened the door and Jaune smiled, "Hey Blake, can I talk to Yang?"

"Right here, Vomit Boy." Yang called, hopping down from her bed

Jaune pouted (he actually did know how to use that), "Seriously Yang? We're dating and you still call me that?"

Yang grinned, "Well, you haven't done enough to get a new nickname!"

Jaune frowned, "Well if you had to could give me one?'

Yang propped her chin on her hand in a 'thinker' pose, "How about…Killer?"

Jaune tilted his head to the side, "That's… cool, I guess. Why that?"

"You're a lady killer!"

"I am?"

"Well…no, but I like it."

Jaune shrugged and grinned, "Oh well, better than vomit boy, but enough off topic stuff. I wanted to talk to you about trying to help me."

"Sure!" Yang replied, "What do you need?"

"Well it's about Pyrrha –"

Jaune missed the atmosphere of the room change.

"— and how she has been less friendly."

A beat of silence.

"So?" Yang said, just a bit strained.

"Well, Ruby said you knew what was wrong. I was hoping you could help." He said, "I mean I know you two have been avoiding each other or something like that and I don't want to pressure you but—" Jaune rambled.

"Jaune." Yang said.

"Yeah…?" Jaune said.

"It's kinda hard to explain." Yang said.

Blake and Weiss looked at each other and quietly made their way out of the room.

"Why?" Jaune said, "Pyrrha was one of my best friends and now she's pulling away. I mean I know she isn't mad or something, but she seems so sad and mopey, and that's the total opposite of how she usual is! I don't get it!" Jaune said, rubbing his head.

"Jaune… How would you feel if I broke up with you?" Yang said, almost as if she were talking to a child.

Jaune groaned, "First Ruby, now you?" he heaved a sigh, "Well, I would be sad, but then again I still don't know why you like me."

Yang swatted at his head, "You need to have confidence, but anyway, you would act a lot like Pyrrha is right?"

"I guess… but what does that have to…? Oh. OOhhhhh!" Jaune said, eyes brightening in understanding, then they swiftly darkened, "WHICH IDIOT REJECTED HER?! I AM GOING TO RIP OUT HIS ARMS AND BEAT HIM WITH THEM!"

"Jaune calm down!" Yang said, patting his shoulder.

Jaune gritted his teeth but quieted.

Yang took a deep breath, "Pyrrha… liked you."

Jaune stiffened. His emotions flashed across his face ranging from disbelief to horror, to sadness, to utter self-loathing.

"Please tell me you're joking…"

Yang sighed.

"Oh no…Oh man…" He groaned miserably, putting his hands in his face.

Yang wrapped him in a hug, and he leaned into the embrace, "I know."

"What do I do?"

"That, I don't know."

So Jaune sat there, trying to fathom what to do.

The next day Pyrrha had just gotten to class when she realized she had left one of her textbooks in her dorm. She searched her bag but it wasn't in any of the pockets. She didn't notice Yang giving her a worried look and she asked for a minute or two to find it in her room. Professor Port agreed. She cursed under her breath and hastened to get to Team JNPR's dorm as she ran.

"I hope I am not going to be late…" she murmured.

Pyrrha walked into her dorm room when the door shut behind her. She whirled to see Jaune with his hand over the door and her textbook tucked under her arm.

"Jaune? Aren't you supposed to be in the infirmary?" she asked, mentally cursing as her voice trembled.

He had not been feeling well since morning and left to go to the infirmary, clearly he either felt better or had not gone there at all.

"Yeah, but I am feeling fine, I needed to talk to you." He said.

"About what?" she whimpered.

"So I wanted to know why you dropped ALL of our training sessions…" he said, arms crossed and leaning against the door.

"I'm busy, I have a lot of work an —"

"Bull." He said, "If you're going to make an excuse, tell me the truth."

Pyrrha bit her lip, "I…"

"You're unhappy I'm with Yang aren't you?"

Pyrrha looked at him, startled. He dropped the textbook on the bed and walked towards her. She backed up and tried to tell him he was wrong.

"It's not like that! I don't even –"

Jaune hugged her, "I am sorry, Pyrrha. I didn't mean to hurt you."

She blinked and he pulled back.

"I talked with Yang and I know you cared but I thought well…I didn't know you meant it like that. I am so, so sorry for hurting you like that. One day someone you really like will just sweep you off your feet, but me…well I might drop you, we both know how clumsy I am." He smiled sadly.

She hugged him and began to shake, "It's not fair…"

Jaune patted her back, "I am sorry I didn't know. You are special to me, Pyrrha. You will always be special to me, always."

Pyrrha didn't say anything and simply sat on the bed with Jaune for some time.

"Why didn't you choose me?" she asked.

A voice piped up, "I asked first."

Yang was leaning against the doorframe, her arms were crossed, but her stance was casual. Jaune was looking at her and glance at Pyrrha before getting up and sat in the desk chair.

"Yang."

"Pyrrha." She responded.

Pyrrha took a deep breath and said, "I am sorry, I shouldn't have snapped and I shouldn't have taken my jealousy and anger out on you. I shouldn't have avoided you – I mean I had already had accepted it, but seeing you together –"

Yang waved her hand, "I can't blame you. You did see Vomit Boy as how amazing he actually was before anyone else."

"Yang~!" Jaune whined, "Just call me Jaune if nothing else!"

"Nope."

Jaune sighed.

Pyrrha acted like her old self, she started her sessions back with Jaune, spent time with everyone, and looked like she finally got the closure on the matter she wanted.

Of course, Yang decided that she really needed a boyfriend.

"No Yang."

"But –"

"Yang, please, let's just give her a while and find her own love, we don't need to try to set her up with anyone." Jaune insisted, "If she asks for your help, then you can just go to town and knock yourself out."

"Fine." Yang pouted, and it took all of Jaune's will power not to give in, "But I still think I am right…"

Sorry, this chapter was a bit weaker than I intended but I really don't know how else to make it. Anyway have an idea for a chapter? Drop it in the comments! Like it? Hate it? Leave a comment!
