Chapter 14: Red-Haired Guy Revealed

Kyouya-senpai's generosity led him to calling me frequently. For some reason, he always calls me whenever he have the time, or after we were both in our respective homes. Our conversation consists of such trivial things that was mostly forgotten after the conversation, then jumped to another topic which is mildly serious. He shared with me about his family situation and how he and Suoh-senpai started the Host Club and honestly, I was fascinated on how it all began. Also, I kinda saw the Idiot-Prince in a new light after that. Every time he shared something serious with me, I have a feeling he also wants me to share something of equal value but whenever I tried to evade the subject, he talks like he understand, like he's waiting for me to open up on my own without him pressuring me. For that reason, I kind of felt guilty because I'm sure he's now treating me like his real friend, on the other hand, I'm still scared to share with him my past.

All in all, we are now friends who understand each other. But take note, he's only kind to me during our phone conversation and I only call him by his first name during that because he insisted, then back to surname when we're at school. Yep, that's right. He's still treating me like normal in school and during club-hours. Though I don't have any complains about our set-up, I still find it quite lonely when I can't talk to him like I did whenever he calls me. There's this one time when Hikaru and Kaoru saw us using the same model of smartphone…

"Nee-chan! You have a new phone? Kyouya-senpai also bought a new one with the same model like yours." Kaoru asked while eyeing my phone. I'm sending e-mail to Shippo so it's too late to hide it when they already saw it.

I saw Hikaru narrowed his eyes while muttering, "Suspicious…that's the latest model, too…"

"W-What? Is it so wrong to have the same unit as senpai?" I glanced at the bespectacled dark-haired who's looking at us. He told me during the first day he loaned me this phone not to tell the others because it's bothersome if they started asking things.

The twins are still eyeing me then both shrugged like they forgot the whole thing which I sighed on relief.

After that, I tried to talk to him about one of our serious conversation but he evaded the subject and talked to me in an almost monotone voice. I was disappointed because he always talks to me kindly and sincerely on phone, even with just a simple "Good night Kagome", his voice is full of sincerity. Afterwards, I never tried again. I convinced myself that that side of him on the other line is enough.

Anyway, I have other things I should give importance to. For example…EXAM and TOURNAMENT! Yep. They are my major problems right now. Examinations before the Spring Break is two weeks away and the tournament is a week after that. This is my first time competing so Taichou and Rika-senpai are giving me a hard time— a veeeery hard time. Actually, they don't give a damn that I'm struggling through my studies. They said I should be flexible and not waste any of my time to meaningless and stupid things (*cough*Host Club activities*cough*). They are not stupid! Well yeah….maybe a little…? I kind of can't follow their stupidity sometimes, especially Suoh-senpai's. But anyway, it's fun at times. I'm also getting the hang of it on my vain customers. All I have to do is listen to their blabbering and constant squealing then I'm done for the day. Plus, they are sometimes talking about the fashion trends these days which I mentally took note of.

Today is Wednesday so I'm in The Third Music Room today. As usual, I'm sitting in the middle and in front of girls who are almost like offering themselves to me rather than the cakes— I always chose the latter of course.

"Kagome-kun! You especially look cool today!"

"Yes~! I agree~! Your outfit suits you veeeery much~!"

"Kyaaaa~!"

I fought the urged to roll my eyes so instead, I just smiled at them. Oh yeah. Our theme for today is Bakumatsu Era, so it's like we're cosplaying Shinsengumi and other well-known samurais with two swords and stuff. I actually like my outfit today because its traditional clothing and I don't need to wear wigs like the others since I have a long hair to begin with.

Without really meaning to, my eyes darted to Kyouya-senpai's direction. It looks like he's explaining to Haruhi why their theme for today is Bakumatsu era. I can't help myself but to give him a look from head to toe. The outfit go well with him alongside his dark hair and his eyes' black orbs.

Then I heard squealing from my right. I'm sure the reason is the twins' stupid act of forbidden love again.

"Haruhi is definitely Souji Okita!"

They are staring at her dreamily, deciding which Shinsengumi member Haruhi is, according to their own fancies.

"He suits the role of the romantic doomed young warrior so well!"

"Noooo! Haruhi! You mustn't die!"

This one I'm definitely sure is not thinking of any romantic things. But the character suits her well, because Souji Okita was sometimes portrayed as a girl or a bishounen. I felt bad for her because Suoh-senpai, Hani-senpai and the twins may be also thinking the same thing for they are leering at her and squeezing her face.

Then suddenly, we were all startled when Mori-senpai coolly stabbed the wooden divider with his spear. I-Is he showing o-off?!

"We have an intruder."

The moment I laid my eyes on the said "intruder", I was struck with the familiarity of his aura.

"Senpai! Please let me be your disciple!"

"Kasanoda Ritsu from Grade 1 Class D, son of the third chief of the Kasanoda Family, the most powerful clan in the Kanto Region. Entered Ouran at the High School level. Defining characteristics are his long and red hair and mean expression. Being reticent, he has no friends. If you meet his eyes, you'll have nightmares for three months. Hit him and you'll land yourself in the hospital. Talk back to him and he'll send you straight to hell. Those unfortunate enough to be his classmates have all been chilled to the bone." Kyouya-senpai went on and on with his explanation.

"What's with that file?" I mumbled. Then I remembered what he said. "Defining characteristics are his long and red hair…" Red hair. I've seen it before… "AHHH!" My hand unconsciously moved by itself and pointed at the guy. "Y-YOU'RE T-THAT!—" That yokai I saw from the backyard with another demon!

"Kagome? You know him?" Suoh-senpai curiously asked.

"H-Huh? A-Ah…er…" I looked around me because they're all staring at me like I've done something wrong. W-What should I say?! My eyes went back to the red-haired guy. When I did, his piercing eyes are also widely staring at me.

"Shikon no Tama…" he murmured.

I'm not sure if I'm the only one who heard what he said but I immediately went on his side and grabbed him by the arm. "U-Uhm! I-I…! W-We need to talk about something important! P-Please excuse us!" Then I dashed towards the door, dragging the guy who I remembered as Kasanoda with me and leaving the others who I'm certain were bewildered.

…

I was panting when we reached the place where I first saw him. On the other hand, he's not even sweating a little, though I'm sure he looks nervous because he's not looking at me.

We were both silent for awhile. When I finally gathered the courage to speak…

"Why—"

"Why—"

…we spoke at the same time so we both went silent again.

"P-Please go ahead…"

He scratched his nape before speaking. "H-Hrn…"

Is that a blush I'm seeing on his cheeks…?

"W-Why would the priestess who hold the Shikon no Tama talking to me?"

"Because…" Wait. Priestess?! "H-How did you know about me?!"

He shift his eyes towards mine, a frown evident on his forehead. "You didn't know? Those who are in our circle pretty much know about you."

"Circle? You mean…"

"Yeah… yokais…"

"But why would…?"

He seemed nervous again. "'Cos Sesshomaru-sama warned all of the demon families who have children studying here before you enrolled. He said you're a very important acquaintance so we shouldn't dare lay our hands on you…unless we have a deathwish…" He blushed again when he said the words "lay our hands".

"So that's why even though there's a lot of students who have demon bloods studying here, they never approached me…"

"He never really said the main reason for warning us but when I saw you by chance, I finally understand why he's protecting you."

"W-Why?" Don't tell me he said I'm his "fiancée"?! That dog! I'm gonna—!

"W-Well you know? 'Cos you have the jewel…?"

"A-Ah! R-Right!" Phew! You're still lucky I won't kill you Sesshomaru!

"T-Then… why did you bring me here?" He shifted his eyes again.

Why again? "Ah! Because you said 'Shikon no Tama' so I was worried Ootori-senpai will asked you about it."

'"Ootori-senpai'"?

"That guy with glasses who revealed all your secrets."

He creased his eyebrows irritatingly. "They're not secrets. More like, I was just born with it."

"What? To be…intimidating?" More like menacing…

"Hrrn?!"

I flinched with his cold stare so I was about to apologize on reflex but it seems he saw my reaction so he apologized first.

"Hrn…sorry 'bout that! Er…maybe…'cos it's in my blood."

"B-Blood?"

"Yeah. The wolf clan are supposed to be…intimidating."

Oh… HUH?! "W-WOLF CLAN?!"

He raised an eyebrow questioningly.

"KOUGA AND AYAME?!"

"…How did you know my great-great-grandparents?"

Waaah! Sorry it's so short! I only managed to write this on my free time. I'm so worried you'll gonna drop this story so I hurriedly wrote this. I'm truly sorry for not updating on the past two months… I don't want to give excuses but I really am busy with school works.

And about this chapter…

Are you surprised to know about Kasanoda? I hope even just a little bit, you are! I was actually planning to show him on the earlier chapters but I failed. Anyway, he has somewhat a major role here. As well as the other yokais who belong to her circle of friends. Can you guess who they are? Well even if you guessed correctly, I won't tell! Ahahaha~ just stay tuned and you'll find out~!
