Chapter 17: Even The Strongest Person Have Worries

"What the hell are you doing here Sesshomaru?" I asked him in a lower voice and of course, with venom.

And the bastard just gave me a smirk. Then he told me with his eyes to sit down on the couch adjacent to his. I have no choice but to oblige so I can get over this with. He then thanked Ootori-senpai, which means he's subtly asking him to leave us. The latter bowed his head and left, but not before giving me a stare. I just ignored it of course. (After all, he's been ignoring me for a week.)

"So? Why are you here?" I asked while frowning. "Didn't we have a deal about not letting other people find out that we know each other?"

He finally spoke in a monotone voice—like always. "My dear Kagome," Yeah. He said that monotonously. "I believe that deal is not valid anymore considering you were the one who did not keep your end of the bargain."

"Wha—?"

"About not letting other people know your gender, am I correct?"

"But they are not other people! They are my friends!"

"Oh please, Kagome. We can go about this topic all day but I can assure you that you do not consider them as your friends."

"W-What? How can you say that? You're not me!" I placed a hand on my chest to emphasize my words.

"If, like what you have been telling me is the truth, that they are your friends. Then why are you keeping them about you, being a priestess?"

"H-How am I supposed to tell them? I-I can't possibly let them in on our world! I can protect them better if they don't know anything…"

He took a sip on his tea,

I looked down at my fingers, then stared back at him. "Why are you telling me these things? Aren't you supposed to be happy that I'm not telling them about me, about you?"

then he placed the cup back on the saucer with finesse. "As far as this person can remember, I did not asked you not to tell them, not to tell other people. All I asked was for you to protect the school against the lower class demons."

I glowered at him. "Why are you really here Sesshomaru? Why are you telling me this when you know there are people who might here this conversation?" I know it's not possible because the VVIP section is far away from the VIPs, but I'm telling him anyway.

"And do you know that they also have deep secrets they are keeping from you? Those friends of yours. They are just waiting for you to open up first before they can confide to you."

"ANSWER ME!" My shout is so loud I can feel the others' stares on the back of my neck. But I don't care about that because I can't control my temper easily once it's on the surface.

"Being alone…is not as contented as this person used to be."

Well that did the trick—of cutting down my temper. Because I can see the genuine sadness on his face, which I rarely see from him. Actually this is the first time—or maybe…I'm not just paying too much attention from it because deep inside, I know he's stronger than anyone. But every person—even demons, have sadness deep within. Yeah, even Sesshomaru.

"There are things you can't do alone, Kagome. You and my foolish brother are the ones who taught me that. Keep that in mind."

And with that, he rose from his seat. But before leaving, he told me he's real intention of visiting me here. "The Kasanoda Clan had contacted me about you paying them a visit." I jolted because I forgot to inform him so he must be pissed off. "Other clans have also heard that news. They are not very happy about it Kagome, saying you should not favor other clans except for the Inu Clan."

"What? Why are you the exception?"

"For the reason that this person was the one who is taking care of you ever since you were born."

"Oh…"

"If the other clans have heard that information, then the Hebi Clan must have also heard of it. So be prepared. Also," He crossed his arms. "You will not be able to contact this person for the next following days because I am going to fix the mess you made."

Then he's gone.

So…he was here to reprimand me. I should've seen that coming.

But…I can't brush off the feeling that he's also here to tell me that I should gather up some allies…because like what he'd said…there are things I can't do by myself."

Wrote this chapter in one go so I apologized if it's too short and unedited. I decided I should probably edit the whole story when it's finished.
