Chapter 19: The Approaching Catastrophe
...
A/N: We're now approaching the second half of the story (finally!). As you've read from the previous chapter, I planned to make this as a sequel. But due to popular demand, I decided to put this here so I hope you will like this second half. This is where the real story begins…
…
Sesshomaru indirectly told me to look for allies. The question is, where in the world will I get that?! My friends from the Feudal Ere are all dead (I tried not to cry on that part) except for Shippo and begrudgingly, that bastard Sesshomaru. He told me I have friends here who are just waiting for me to open up to them. But they don't know anything about what's really happening inside the school and honestly, I don't want them to know. It's all good that I can protect them from the shadows.
But as of today, I have other things to do, now that the exams and the tournament are approaching.
…
"Oi Kagome. You're out of focus again."
I blinked twice, placing down my bow and arrow. "Sorry Taichou…"
"Worried about the competition?"
That too… "Yeah…" But I'm more worried about something…
"I'm not convinced that it's your only problem." He crossed his arms.
I have lots of problems you don't want to know, or even count… "I have this weird feeling that something bad will happen."
"You're just imagining things."
A priestess intuition is no imagination though… "I hope so. 'Coz as you're always saying, this is a crucial time for our team."
"Yes, because there are a lot of good new rookies at other schools based from our information network."
"It's unusual for you to feel threatened, Taichou."
"I can handle myself, I'm more worried about the others."
I smirk. "Overconfident, aren't we?"
He smirked back. "It's called 'years of experience'."
"So you're saying, I can't win if I don't have years of experience?" I raised an eyebrow.
"You're different."
"Different? In what way?"
"You are good from the start. It means you are born to be good at Kyudo."
"Oh…" Because I'm a reincarnation of an expert… "You don't know that. You just met me."
"I may have just met you not too long ago, but I know from your performance that you possessed the right skills. It's like, you've encountered real-life experiences in archery."
He's sharp! Is he a holy person? A monk?! "T-That's a-absurd…"
Taichou knitted his eyebrows from my reaction so I didn't speak again.
"Come on. Go back to practice Kagome."
"Hai, hai."
…
When I entered the classroom, Haruhi gave me a piece of paper.
"Exam schedule? Where's Yamato-sensei?"
"One of the teachers said he's on a vacation leave. She also said a trainee teacher will sub for him."
That's odd...he didn't say anything yesterday… Again, the feeling that something bad will occur came to me.
"Don't you think it's unusual for him to suddenly go on a leave without informing us first?" Haruhi asked.
She's really smart. "Yeah, I think so too. I hope he has a good reason."
…
(First day of examination…)
"Good morning Class A. As you all know, Yamato-sensei took a sudden vacation leave which left you with no homeroom teacher. So starting today, until before the spring break, a trainee teacher from London will be your homeroom teacher." She glanced at the closed door. "Let's welcome, Inu Takara-sensei."
Right after the door opened, squeals from the girls instantly filled the classroom."
WHAT?!
Our new homeroom teacher is a tall young man—not too skinny but with muscles on the right places. He's wearing a turquoise buttoned-down long sleeve shirt under a black body-fitted, unbuttoned coat, a black slacks and leather shoes. What strike everyone the most is his bright orange hair tied in a loose ponytail and his foxy emerald eyes. As for me, I know this new teacher too well.
SHI—
"Good morning everyone, I'm Inu Takara." He greeted with a sweet smile. "I will be your homeroom teacher for the time being. Hope we'll get along well." He bowed and grin, which earned another set of squeals from the girls.
"SHIPPO?!"
…
….
So how's this chapter? Yeah…I know it's too short. But I just wrote this in one go so please bear with me.
And *drum roll* Shippo appeared again~! I named him 'Takara' which means "treasure" since Shippo's name means "The Seven Treasure". Ohohohoho~
Btw, for those who read my other fic, 'His and Her Circumstances' I updated it yesterday after two years I think? For those who haven't yet, please take some time to read it because it's a spin-off of Miscalculated which focuses on Midorima Shintarou and Haruhi Fujioka.
Sore ja~
