Chapter 37: Mixed Feelings

Damon, Stefan, Rebekah, Matt, Tyler, Caroline, Boonie, Elena, Jeremy. Alaric and Jenna were at the Salvatore boarding house. They were all worried about the travellers and worried what they were going to do about them. They still weren't quite sure what the travellers plan was and they had yet to come up with a plan of their own. They had all decided to sleep on it and now it was morning. Damon, Stefan and Elena came downstairs. They were the only people up at the moment and so were alone in the living room. Damon had gotten dressed into a tight black t-shirt, jeans and black trainers. Stefan had gotten dressed into a plain long-sleeved white t-shirt, jeans and white trainers. Elena had gotten dressed into a cute floral patterned dress with a brown shawl and brown sandals. She had her hair up in a high ponytail. Caroline came down the stairs, dressed in a pink tank top under a yellow lace shawl paired with a cute blue ruffle mini-skirt and yellow ankle boots. Following behind her was Bonnie, dressed in a simple long-sleeved brown t-shirt, a black pencil skirt and black flats. Following behind Bonnie was Matt, dressed in a white pattern t-shirt and jeans. Following behind Matt was Rebekah, dressed in a hot pink tube top, sparkly jeans and silver stiletto's. Rebekah had her hair up in a high ponytail. Following behind Rebekah was Tyler, dressed in a plain red short-sleeved t-shirt and jeans. Following behind Tyler was Alaric in a plaid chequered t-shirt and jeans. Behind Alaric was Jenna, dressed in a white t-shirt with a black cardigan over the top, jeans, and black pumps. Like Elena and Rebekah, Jenna also had her hair up in a high ponytail. The last person down the stairs was Jeremy, who was dressed in a white and red chequered shirt, jeans, and black trainers. He also wore a black wristwatch on his left hand. The eleven of them stood around the boarding house.

Stefan: So... we need a plan.

Elena. who was holding Stefan's hand, was the next one to speak up.

Elena: Agreed. But how? We don't know what theirs is.

Jeremy: Well maybe it's time we found out.

Bonnie: And how do we do that, Jer?

Jeremy shrugged.

Rebekah: Well these are all extremely helpful suggestions(!)

Matt sent her a warning look.

Matt: Rebekah!

She rolled her eyes, but said no more.

Alaric: Well one of us could go under cover...

Caroline thought about it and shook her head.

Caroline: No good. They know us all. They've seen all our faces.

Bonnie: Too bad we can't all change our faces like Megsy slash Silas.

She said it bitterly, venom in her words. Damon looked at Bonnie, slightly shocked. She turned to look at him, her expression apologetic.

Bonnie: Sorry.

Damon just shook his head and smiled, letting her know it was ok. She smiled back at him, grateful he wasn't offended. They all worried about Damon. They knew how upset he was by this situation but he had taken to wearing a mask to hide his emotions. Stefan could tell he was really hurt though. Stefan worried at time like this, because he knew when Damon felt hurt, he had a tendency to lash out and do bad things. Damon had gotten a much better handle on it. But Stefan was still going to be there for his brother if he went of the rails. After all, Damon would do the same thing for him, and has done already. Caroline sighed, breaking Stefan out of his thoughts.

Caroline: We can't just sit here and do nothing.

Elena went over and put a hand on her friends shoulder.

Elena: And we won't, Care. We'll figure something out.

She sighed and looked around at her friends. Her brother, Jeremy, came and stood next to her. He held her hand and gave her a reassuring smile.

Jeremy: We're in this together.

He looked aroud the crowded room, at all of them.

Jeremy: All of us.

Stefan: There's just one person missing. Lexi.

Damon: Maybe we should leave her out of all this, Stefan.

Stefan sighed.

Stefan: I know. I know that's her wish. Ok.

That was when Lexi came through the door. She was wearing a black t-shirt, a white mini-skirt, black leggings and white pumps. She also had on a chunky gold necklace and feather earrings. She looked slightly panicked.

Stefan: Lexi?

Lexi: The travellers are gathered at the town square. They appeared to be getting ready for some kind of chant.

Bonnie: Lexi. This is important. Did they have any symbols, or...?

Lexi: Well they were right in the middle of town and they're standing on a pentagram that's been drawn on the ground with chalk.

Bonnie: Oh no. They must be getting ready to take all the magic from the world, starting with mystic falls. None of us will be able to live here.

Caroline: What?! We have to stop them!

Damon: State the obvious vampire barbie number 1.

Caroline and Rebekah narrowed their eyes at him.

Damon: Ok. Everyone grab your weapons.

They all grabbed a few weapons each and headed to the town square.

AT THE TOWN SQUARE

They had arrived at the town square and they were prepared for a fight. The traveller leader, Marcus, saw them coming to stop him.

Marcus: You can't stop us. There's no point in trying. Soon. most of you will be dead and gone from this earth forever.

Lexi: Big words from such a spineless coward of a man.

Marcus just raised his eyebrows and gave them all a cruel smile.

Marcus: Time to die.

At that signal, all the travellers began chanting. The vampire, witches, hybrids and humans of their little gang charged at the travellers and a huge fight started. All of them were facing at least three travellers each. As the fight went on , it was clear they were losing. Some of the vampires on their team had been pinned to the ground with wooden stakes through their stomachs. Other vampires on their team were weakened with wooden bullets. They had taken a few travellers out of the fight but it was nowhere near to diminishing the travellers numbers. They were losing. And losing badly, especially now some of them had been taken out of the fight. Megsy walked in on the fight to see all of the destruction. She saw Lexi hiding behind a pillar with a crossbow and used her super spped to flash over to her. Luckily, the pillar was big enough to shield both of them. Lexi looked at her as if she couldn't figure out what she was doing here.

Lexi: Megsy? What are you doing here?

Megsy: I was walking apast and you looked like you were in trouble.

Lexi: So?

Megsy: Maybe I can help?

Lexi: I thought you said you were better off dead?

Megsy: Well, whilst that is true, you might just have a bigger threat here. The enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that. So what's going on here?

Lexi: You see Marcus? He and his traveller friends are chanting a spell. Soon everything supernatural will be eradicated from Mystic falls... and then the world.

Megsy facial expression expressed horror.

Megsy: What?! We can't let that happen!

Lexi: What can we do, Megsy?

She thought for a moment.

Megsy: I'll go in the middle of the pentagram and start chanting a counter spell. You get everyone out of here.

Lexi: But the spell could strip your immortality. You could die!

Megsy took a deep breath and looked determined.

Megsy: So be it. Tell David and Damon that I love them, with all my heart.

Lexi looked at her sister and finally saw the sister she once knew, all those years ago. She smiled and nodded.

Megsy nodded and headed to the centre of the pentagram. Lexi got everyone on their team out of there to a safe distance since some of them were too wounded to move too everyone was safe from the blast zone, they all witnessed the travellers, Amara, and Megsy standing in the middle, and then a huge explosion. Megsy had sacrificed herself and saved them all. m

I debated between a happy ending and this and this just seemed more poetic. I wrote both out, but I don't know, I just feel like after everything Megsy's done, she can't fix it.
