Chapter 3: A New Friend

~River~

As our heroes just nearly escaped from a flock of Spearows, they find themselves in another predicament. Both our young heroes find themselves drowning in a river!

"Ah!" Ash gasped as his head bobbed out of the water.

"Ka!" Pikachu gasped as well as his head bobbed out of the water as well.

"Benjamin!" Ash called out as Benjamin had yet to resurface.

Benjamin struggled to keep afloat as the current kept pushing him under. In a last bit of desperation, he grasped at the water above him. His hand caught onto something and he held on.

~Riverbank~

There was a sharp pull on her fishing rod.

"This feels like a big one!" Misty grunted as she wrestled with the rod.

The current kept forcing Benjamin down as he clung onto the string while Misty kept struggling to reel the string in.

"Just get out of there already!" Misty grunted as she tugged one last tie on the rod and Benjamin flew out of the water.

"You're not a water Pokémon!" Misty exclaimed as she stared at the gasping boy.

"A-ash… And Pikachu…" The boy panted as he drew weak breaths.

"Who and who now?" Misty asked as she squatted beside the boy.

"Ash and Pikachu are still…" The boy said weakly as he lost consciousness.

"H-hey! Wake up kid!" Misty called out as she shook him lightly.

"Are there still people in the river? I'd better check it out!" Misty thought out loud as she called out Starmie and Goldeen from their Pokéballs.

"Starmie, Goldeen, go look if there are people in the river!" Misty ordered as Starmie and Goldeen dived into the water.

~About 10 minutes later~

Starmie had already returned with a Pikachu and had gone back to help Goldeen bring the other person back.

What's taking them so long? This boy and Pikachu don't look too well. Misty sat there trying to wake either of them up.

"Goldeen!" Goldeen called out as Misty saw Goldeen and Starmie hoisting a boy between them.

Misty rushed over and pulled the boy out of the water.

"Thanks Goldeen, Starmie!" Misty said and called both Pokémon back into their Pokéballs.

"Hey, are you okay?" Misty checked on the boy her Pokémon just rescued.

"P-pikachu… Where's Pikachu?" The boy asked weakly.

"Your Pikachu's okay." Misty said as she turn to look at the Pokémon.

Pikachu was wheezing slightly as it laid there motionless.

"No… Pikachu…" the boy grunted as he turn to see Pikachu lying on the ground motionless.

Ash got up to his feet weakly as he stumbled beside Pikachu.

"Where's the nearest Pokémon Centre?" Ash gasped as he turned to the girl.

"It's in Viridian City." The girl replied.

"How do I get there?" Ash asked again.

"It's just down the road from here." The girl replied again.

"Is that your bike over there?" Ash asked pointing to a bike leaning against a tree.

"Yeah." The girl nodded.

"I need to borrow it." Ash grunted as he lifted Pikachu into the front basket of the bike.

"H-hey!" The girl shouted in surprise as Ash took off with Pikachu in the bike.

"Great, now I got to walk home… Grr…" Misty grumbled as the other boy started to wake up.

"Ugh… What happen?" The boy mumbled incoherently.

"Well, I rescued your friend and his Pikachu and he just took off with my bike, so…" Misty put her hands on her hip as she rolled her eyes.

"My friend? Who?" The boy mumbled incoherently again as he looked around.

"The boy with a Pikachu?" Misty said somewhat impatient.

"P-pikachu?" The boy mumbled incoherently again.

"YES! THE BOY WITH THE PIKACHU! YOUR FRIEND!" Misty hollered at the boy and he flinched visibly.

"Woah! Why you shouting at me for?" The boy spoke up slightly this time as he rubbed his eyes.

"Well you can't speak when you're half awake." Misty stared squarely at him.

"Okay, I'm awake now!" The boy smiled as he finally released where he was.

"Wait, where's Ash and Pikachu?" The boy asked.

"Your friend? Well, he took off with my bike and his injured Pikachu. They're headed for Viridian City." Misty explained.

"Oh…" The boy nodded as he stared into the sky.

Then, a flock of Spearow flew overhead.

"Oh darn… That's not good…" The boy mumbled as he took off in the direction of the flock of Spearows.

"H-hey! Wait up! I don't even know your name yet!" Misty called out as she started after him.

"Oh, I'm Benjamin!" Benjamin called out as he picked up his pace upon reaching the main road.

"I'm Misty!" Misty shouted back as she tried to catch up to him.

Man, this kid can run… Misty thought in mild exhaustion as she gave up on trying to catch up.

~Further down the road~

"Hang in there Pikachu!" Ash said as he pedaled harder and faster.

The bike sped off a ledge and Ash lost control as he crashed into the ground. Pikachu was flung onto the road as the bike skidded way ahead of Ash and Pikachu.

"Pikachu!" Ash shouted as he crawled up beside Pikachu.

Then it started to rain.

~Back with Benjamin and Misty~

"Is it raining?" Benjamin asked as a raindrop hit him on the head.

"Oh come on! Really? Now?" Misty complained as it began to pour and lighting streaked through the sky.

~Further down the road with Ash and Pikachu~

Bang! The clap of thunder reverberated through the air as an ominous squeaking of Spearow followed shortly after.

"What?" Ash looked up to the sky as he saw the flock of Spearow looming in the horizon.

"Pika pi…" Pikachu groaned weakly as it spotted the Spearows as well.

"No…" Ash mumbled as he tried to steady himself on his feet, standing over Pikachu and trying to protect him.

The flock of Spearows were right above Ash right now.

"SPEAR!" They echoed at once, as another streak of lightning flashed in the sky.

BOOM! The clap of thunder blasted as the Spearows dived down one after the other.

"You're not hurting my pal Pikachu! My dream is to become the world's greatest Pokémon trainer and I won't let a flock of Spearow get in my way!" Ash shouted defiantly as the first Spearow pecked on him.

"Pika…" Pikachu groaned again as it got up to its feet.

"I'll beat each of you myself if I have to! You're not going to hurt Pikachu!" Ash shouted as he tried to beat away the Spearows.

"Pi…" Pikachu readied itself to jump.

"Ka…" Pikachu jumped onto Ash's shoulder

"Huh?" Ash turned his head to see Pikachu on his shoulder.

"Chu!" Pikachu leaped off Ash's shoulder just as a bolt of lightning struck Pikachu, and Pikachu let loose a powerful Thunderbolt.

~Back with Benjamin and Misty~

"Ash! Pikachu!" Benjamin called out.

"Hey! Slow down a bit will you?" Misty panted as she slowed her pace considerably.

"Huh? Oh okay…" Benjamin said as he slowed down to a jog beside Misty.

"Thanks-" Misty started, then a bright light flooded from the horizon.

~Further up with Ash and Pikachu~

"SPEAR!" All the Spearows screamed in pain as some dropped to the ground, too injured to move, and the others with slightly less serious injuries flew slowly away.

Ash and Pikachu laid on the ground as the skies cleared up.

"Pikachu, that was amazing." Ash smiled at Pikachu as the duo laid there scraped and bruised

"Ka!" Pikachu purred back, finally smiling at Ash.

Ash and Pikachu turned their gaze to the sky, as a rainbow formed in the sky. Just then, a majestic bird looking Pokémon flew overhead, disappearing from sight as quickly as it appeared.

~Back with Benjamin and Misty~

"What was that?" Benjamin asked as the bright light died down and the skies cleared up.

"I-I don't know!" Misty shrugged as she looked into the sky.

"Hey, look at that rainbow!" Misty called out as she pointed to the sky.

"Woah, that's amazing… Wait, what's that?" Benjamin asked as he spotted a majestic bird looking Pokémon soaring the sky.

"I don't know… But it does looks amazing…" Misty stared wide-eyed as the Pokémon disappeared into the horizon.

~Further up with Ash and Pikachu~

Ash got up to his feet as he surveyed the surroundings.

"Pikachu, you okay?" Ash asked when he saw Pikachu lying on the ground next to him.

"Kaaa…" Pikachu's reply came weaker than before.

"Just hold on pal! I'll get you to the Pokécentre!" Ash shouted frantically as he looked around for the bike he borrowed.

Lying on the road charred and twisted, were the remains of Misty's bike.

"Oh no. I'm not getting to the Pokécentre that way." Ash grumbled as he got to his feet handpicked Pikachu up in his arms.

Guess I'm walking the rest of the way. Ash thought as he began his arduous trek to Viridian.

~Benjamin and Misty~

"Wait, if you're from Cerulean, what are you doing all the way here on the outskirts of Viridian?" Benjamin asked curiously.

"Well, the fish bite better here. Plus I wanted to get away from home for a while." Misty answered, untying her drenched hair.

"Oh…" Benjamin caught his tongue as Misty's hair fell around her shoulders.

"What are you staring at?" Misty asked as she caught Benjamin staring at her, jaw dropped.

"Huh? I, uh, wasn't staring at anything!" Benjamin looked away immediately, embarrassed he was caught by Misty.

"Okay…" Misty raised an eyebrow but said nothing more.

"Wait, isn't that your bike on the road there?" Benjamin asked as the hopped off a little ledge in the road.

"Yeah! But where's your friend and his Pikachu?" Misty asked, peeved that her precious bike was completely destroyed.

"I don't know, but my guess is that he's heading for Viridian and the closest Pokécentre." Benjamin thought aloud.

"Well, you need to catch up to your friend and I need to get a new bike from him, so let's go to Viridian too." Misty glowered a little as she dragged the charred remains of her bike along.

A/N: Hey guys, sorry for such a long delay. But I've been really busy with other things, especially school. So future chapters will definitely take a longer to be posted, but I'll try not to take as long as I did for this chapter! xP So anyway, the Fic is picking up, I will be kinda changing the original story a lot to suit the OC and some other things I'm going to implement later on, so this might not necessarily be the Pokémon we all know and love. But it certainly will try to retain as much of it as possible! So see you guys in the next chapter and hope you enjoyed this one!
