Chapter 19: Vague Like Dumbledore
The second I got to my locker Christina and Will squashed- I mean hugged me. I laughed and they laughed and we all walked off to our first period classes. I have all of my morning classes with either Will, Christina, or both.
We have the same lunch period and I almost forget that I have to go somewhere. The only reason I remember is because I see Susan glance at the clock and then get up after excusing herself from her table. I turn to Christina and Will.
"Um, I have to go to the bathroom." I then run off before Christina can accuse me of lying.
I chase after Susan and hide behind something every time she turns around. By the time we get outside I've almost squealed about eight times. I always get a thrill out of setting people up.
Caleb is waiting there. He's sitting on the grass and staring into space. He snaps back into focus when Susan places a hand on his shoulder. He looks up at her and smiles. She smiles back and I bet I could steal her shoes off her feet and neither of them would notice. Seizing the moment I sprint towards a bush and hide behind it. If I move a few branches I have a perfect view.
They don't waste any time. Caleb pulls her down and kisses her and I blush at the sweetness of it. I may not be a huge fan of my brother, but I have to admit, that was smooth.
"Aren't they cute?" It seems that I was so caught up in their moment that I didn't notice the boy who plopped himself down next to me. I turn to glare at him.
"What are you doing here?" I ask, my voice dripping with venom.
"I could ask you the same thing." Four says while smirking that annoying smirk I've grown to love.
Oh, not this again.
My eyes widen and I quickly turn away from him and towards the two teenagers making out in front of me. I turn away from them after about five seconds. It was cute at first, but now that they're eating each other's faces off it's lost it's appeal.
"I bet they were each other's first kisses." Four says.
"Hmmm that's nice."
"Have you had your first kiss Tris?" This question catches me off guard.
"Have you had yours?" He falls silent at this question. Yep, my thoughts too, bud.
I glance at my brother before turning away and admiring a blue bird on a tree branch not too far away.
"Yes."
"I thought we dropped this conversation Four." I respond with a sigh.
"Well, we didn't. Now have you or have you not kissed somebody?" I growl.
"Yes! Okay! Happy now!" I shout at him, forgetting that we are hiding in a bush.
Caleb and Susan turn towards us and I panic.
"They know we're here. We're going to make a run for it." I whisper to Four. He nods and I count down from three.
At one we both jump up and run hoping they don't recognize us. I run until I can't run anymore, which is probably farther than both Caleb and Susan can run. I see an entrance to the school nearby. I walk towards it until I hear someone do one of those annoying "Excuse me" coughs. I turn around and Four is standing right behind me, causing my face to bump into his chest.
"Tris, please remove your face from my chest." I back up a few steps and then turn around and continue walking towards the door. Four speed walks to my side. He opens the door for me and holds it.
"I can walk you to your next class." Four offers. I glare at him.
"The bell hasn't even rung yet." As if on cue the bell ring right after those words leave my mouth.
"I take that as a yes then," he says. I glare causing him to laugh. My gaze softens and I crack a smile. Darn his addictive laugh.
Ugh, please not this again. I am so sick of all this "addictive smile" and "beautiful eyes" crap. I'm going to hurt something (or, more likely, someone) if I fall in love with Four. I will not pull a Lily Evans and suddenly fall in love with the boy I've resented for more than just a few years. Especially since there is another boy that I kissed in a park that is very nice and funny and handsome and ten times better than Four!
While I'm having this I tank rant Four escorts me to my class. I stand outside of it staring off into space because I don't realize that we've stopped and I'm too absorbed in my own thoughts. I stand outside the classroom until so,some grabs my shoulder and pulls me inside of it. I struggle against them but they sit me down in a seat in the back left corner of the room.
I turn to face my attacker and am not as surprised as you would think when I realize it's Christina. She smiles deviously and I groan. No matter what, when ever she smiles at you with that smile, nothing good is about to happen. Except for maybe that one- Oh no, he broke his leg right after that right? Yeah. Nothing good ever comes out of it.
"Four was staring at you." I raise an eyebrow.
"Okay then."
"You were staring back." she giggles.
"Actually I was thinking." I respond dully.
"About him."
"I guess in a way I was." Christina cackles. Not giggles or laughs but manically cackles. Oh Gods of Olympus, please help me with my insane friend. Seriously, someone calm her down.
She cackles for a while. The teacher just gives her a disapproving look instead of doing something about it. I've never really noticed before how loud we are I this class. I'm usually pretty well behaved but I guess in this class I'm louder than normal. Hm, strange.
Time Skip
When I get home I quietly run upstairs into my room and close the door. I sling my backpack down on my desk. The second I sit down in my swivel chair someone knocks at my door.
"Come in! I shout. The door is pushed open to reaves none other than my brother.
"May I come in?" he asks with false politeness. I know that no matter what I say he'll enter. I sigh.
"Finnnee." I say, drawing out the word.
He walks in and slams the door shut. He then sits on my bed. I glare at him.
"What do you want?" I ask. He glares back at me.
"Were you spying on me today?" Quick! Play dumb!
"When?" I say with a smirk. This only aggravated him more.
"Tris, I know you were watching me when I kissed Susan. Who were you with?" Now here comes the moment of truth: I could rat out Four and possibly ruin a friendship or I could be difficult and vague like Dumbledore. Hmm...
"Are you even sure someone was with me? I might have been alone. Or someone might have been with me. It might have been Christina. Or was it Will. Or, gods forbid, both? At the same time!?" I screech the last bit.
"Dang it, Tris! Just tell me already!" Caleb yells. I do my best impression of Christina's cackle.
"What is there to tell? I might have already answered your question?" I always quite liked Dumbledore.
This continues for a good amount of time before Caleb storms out of my room. He slams the door shut which normally bothers me but right now I'm too busy laughing my butt off at my brother to care. I love messing with people's heads.
I am soooo sorry! I have been super busy lately with school starting and the fact that I'me trying to finish the PJO series (well, both of them) before the last one in the second series comes out on October 7th.
I've been updating Typical frequently and I'm sorry that I haven't explained this sooner: I am trying to finish Typical up which means I'm going to be updating that more than this. I am not putting this story on hiatus, however, because hiatus is a terrible word that shatters dreams and kills amazing fanfics.
As I mentioned earlier I have recently become a fan of the PJO series. I love it soo much! I just finished Battle of the Labyrinth and I loved that ending so much! The series has just the right balance of action, plot twists, frustrating moments when characters are confused but you understand completely what's going on, and just the occasional sweet little things that make me coo and grin like an idiot. (Oh, and this is off topic but I just had to share this with the world: That awkward moment when you can't cry but see something that gives you major feels so your just squawking at a screen.)
Well, I didn't say half the stuff I wanted to but I am far too tired to continue writing. Goodnight!
