Here I am! So, this chapter took me FOREVER to write. I kept writing and re-writing some parts and my computer would update itself or shut down and I'd have to retype it all. Very frustrating. It's also a super long chapter!
Thank you for the reviews, favorites, and follows. It truly makes my day!
I also noticed that some of my chapters are numbered incorrectly. Silly prologue screwed me all up. This is chapter 5. Rachel Bilson is how I picture Erin to resemble the most. But, you all have amazing imaginations, so envision her as you'd like.
Also please read my author's note below!
I own no one, but my own characters.
Chapter 5
"The future belongs to those who see possibilities before they become obvious."
— John Scully
I had never seen Damon like this before. He was furious. He grabbed a bottle of water and gargled the remaining vervain out of his throat.
"I'm gonna kill him" he growled as he tried to move past Stefan who held him back.
"Listen to me! Sit! Sit!" Stefan pushed him to sit down on a bench.
"I'm not listening anymore of your "give peace a chance" crap." Damon fumed as he tried fighting from Stefan's grip. "He's dead!"
I looked around to make sure we weren't causing a scene.
"Okay." Stefan calmly said as he held Damon's face. "I don't like it. He's making threats. He could expose us. We need to put him down."
I looked at Stefan in shock. I was not expecting him to say that at all.
"Alright. Let's do it," Damon replied a little calmer.
Right then I spotted Mason taking two trash cans into the woods.
"Woods" I pointed at him. "Trash duty. Come on."
It didn't take long to find Mason, and as we started to follow him Damon held me back.
"You're going to stay here." Damon hid me behind a large oak tree before him and Stefan split up and cornered Mason from in front and behind.
"Don't look so surprised." I heard Damon say to him. "You knew this was inevitable. Go ahead, run. I'll give you a head start."
Mason grinned at them before he bent down. Shots came from behind him and struck Damon and Stefan. They fell to the ground.
I covered my mouth before I could scream. What do I do? What do I do!
Liz and a couple of her deputies arrived from behind Mason and it took everything I had in me to not run up and punch her in the face.
Liz injected Damon and Stefan with what I'm assuming was vervain and proceeded to drag their bodies away.
As soon as I knew they wouldn't see me, I started running as fast as I could back to the picnic and into town so I could find someone- anyone- to help.
Halfway back I almost ran right into Caroline and Elena who were running towards me.
"Damon..Stefan..Mason," I gasped for air.
"Let's go!" Caroline understood me completely and we started running back to where I came from.
Minutes later we stopped and started looking around. Caroline was being very perceptive. If I didn't know better I would say…holy shit, Caroline was a vampire!
Before I could say anything Mason stood right in front of us. "What are you doing out here?"
" Have you seen Stefan?" Elena played dumb.
"Yeah Elena, I've seen him. Seen Damon too," He nodded walking around us.
"Where are they?" I was getting angry. Mason Lockwood was a tool and werewolf or not I was about to kick his ass.
"You don't need me for that. I'll let your friend here sniff them out," he smirked looking at Caroline. "Does your mother know what you are? I'm happy to tell her."
"And you," he looked at me, "I haven't figured out what you are yet."
I started to walk towards him but he grabbed Elena and held her by her throat.
"Don't be stupid, Erin! Necks snap easy around here."
"I can take you" I sneered at him.
"Wanna bet?" Mason winked at me.
In a rush Caroline grabbed Mason and pushed him against a tree.
"Yeah I do," she growled.
Elena and I watched in fascination as Caroline kicked Mason in the leg and threw him to the ground. She picked him back up and threw him against a tree. He fell to the ground.
"Come on," she said and we continued running as if it was nothing.
We arrived at some sort of ruins were Caroline stopped us again. She was listening to something.
"Caroline, what is it?" Elena asked.
"My mom. She's killing them,"
"What! We have to stop her!" I said and ran down into God knows what into the ruins before they could stop me.
"Let's do this. Each with a stake in the heart, then burn them both. Check it out." Liz said to her deputies. I found a piece of a wooden plank near me and picked it up. Any weapon was better than no weapon at all.
I slammed the cell with the plank as hard as I could. It became very quiet and I was sure one of Liz's deputies would find me soon. I was right and I hit him with the plank before running into the cell.
"You can't kill them. I'm not gonna let you," my hands were raised and I prayed Liz would realize I was not a vampire.
"Elena! What are you doing here," Liz asked as Elena ran up behind me.
We heard another noise and a cell door closed.
"Who else is with you?" Liz asked as her and her deputies raised their guns again.
Elena and I looked at each other. Caroline.
She rushed behind us and her blond hair could barely be seen as she attacked a deputy and bit into him. The other deputy tried shooting Caroline but she used the deputy a shield from the bullets.
She threw him to the ground and stared at her mother who looked at her in horror.
"Hi mom."
That night Damon and Stefan were awake, fed, and we still had Liz Forbes to deal with.
I felt bad for Caroline. I didn't know how she became a vampire, but I could tell it wasn't intentional. Something horrible must have recently happened that had turned her.
I would have to make sure to ask Damon about it later. Along with the 1000 other questions I had for him.
Speaking of Damon, I was a little annoyed. Was every time I hung out with my new bff going to be a life or death situation? I was regretting my decision to pursue these visions I was having.
Shame on me.
Damon and Stefan agreed to put Liz in a cell in their basement of the huge old Salvatore boarding house they lived in. Apparently she was on vervain and in a few days it would be out of her system and then they could compel her to forget her little discovery about Caroline.
"A stomach bug. Yeah, it came on fast. I'll definitely be out tomorrow." Liz was on the phone with one of her deputies.
She looked at Damon who smirked at her.
"Or longer," she sighed. "I'll text you. Good night."
She hung up and handed the phone to Damon.
"Thank you. It's not exactly the Ritz, but it's secure. Brought you a good thread count. And once the vervain is worked out of your system, I will compel you, you will forget everything and you will be a free woman." Damon said obviously pleased with himself and the outcome of his dance with death earlier. I rolled my eyes at him.
"Can you keep Caroline far away from me please? I don't want to see her." Liz whispered to us. Out of the corner of my eye I could see Elena, Stephen and Caroline who had arrived downstairs as well. Caroline's face had said it all. She had heard everything.
"She's your daughter, Liz,'' I said folding my arms.
"Not anymore. My daughter's gone."
"You have no idea how wrong you are about that," Damon said as he looked at Caroline too.
Damon and I walked back upstairs and found Elena and Caroline talking on the couch. Caroline must have decided to stay there as blankets and pillows were laid out.
"Erin, can I ask you a question?" Caroline asked me. Elena got up to talk to Damon leaving Caroline and I alone.
"How are you?" I asked carefully.
"I could be better," she shrugged sadly. "Can you see anything? With me and my mom?"
"No," I frowned and she looked even sadder. "It's me," I quickly added. "My visions aren't that advanced yet." It was odd talking so open about them with someone. "If I ever see anything though- with you or your mom- I'll tell you right away," I smiled sadly.
"Thank you," she nodded. "You're a new Seer aren't you?"
"Newer," I nodded grinning.
"Did your mom freak out when you told her?" Caroline asked.
"Well, my mom's been MIA, but my dad wasn't so thrilled," I responded frowning. "Caroline, I want you to know that you may feel so scared, and so alone right now, but just know that this could be the beginning of something great. You just have to be strong enough to get there."
Caroline crushed me in a hug and I gave her my cell phone number and told her to call me whenever. Even if she just wanted to talk on her worst days.
I too had been in Caroline's shoes before.
Minutes later I found Damon in the library.
"Well now wasn't that fun," he grinned at me.
"As much as I'd love to chat about what happened," I folded my arms. "I don't." I frowned. "I'm exhausted and I can't keep doing this every day. Friends don't see friends only when they need them for something."
I grabbed my coat and left before he could respond.
Ancient Greek mythology states that if you steal the vision of a Seer then you too will possess the gift of sight. In simpler words, if you steal a Seer's eyes then you become a Seer. Now, I'm not sure if that's true or not and I've never heard of this actually happening, but it still makes me slightly light headed when I think about it.
So, when I'm not being studious or befriending vampires and their gang of friends, you can generally find me kickboxing and learning how to kick someone's ass the right way.
"Jab, cross, hook, left round!" My instructor, Barry yelled to the class. I punched the bag in front of me as hard as I could and finished with a hard kick.
"Nice, Erin!" Barry called out and I grinned before repeating the actions. Sweat pooled on my forehead.
I loved kickboxing. It was a great way to not only keep myself in shape but relieve stress as well. I also felt like I could kick some serious ass afterwards.
"Something fierce just walked in" I heard a girl tell her friend as class ended.
"Of course as I'm all sweaty." her friend whined as she quickly dabbed her face with a towel.
Damon. I knew it was Damon. I groaned shoving my boxing gloves in my bag. To be honest, I was a little annoyed he was here. The gym was my territory. I also hadn't talked to him since I left the boarding house the night before.
Damon was eyeing every female he could as I walked up to him.
"Looks like I may need to join," he grinned as a blonde girl smiled at him as she walked by.
I rolled my eyes.
"You need to stop popping up like this," I shoved him so he would look at me. "If we're going to be "friends" then you need to respect my space."
Damon frowned at me. "This having friends things is new to me. Especially with a chick. I thought girls liked attention."
"Clingy girls you date do," I shook my head grinning. "I am neither clingy or your current flavor of the week."
I tossed my bag over my shoulder and started walking out. "Now come on. I'm hungry."
Damon laughed and he followed. We ended up at a small deli nearby. We sat down with our food at a table near the back and I eyed him.
"What do you need now?" I asked taking a bite out of my tuna sandwich.
"I just wanted to see my new bestie," Damon grinned cheekily. "Is that okay?"
I continued chewing.
"Okay, okay." He held his hands up in defeat. "You were right. I was using you for…you know," he pointed to his eyes "and like I said before..I don't have many friends. So, I'm sorry."
He rambled quickly.
"Wow," I sat back in my chair in shock. Damon knew how to apologize? "Apology accepted."
"Okay, now that that's settled," Damon smirked and popped a fry in his mouth. "Tell me about you Ms. Scott."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"How did you get that fabulous gift of yours?" he pressed on.
Fabulous? It was really anything but.
"My grandmother," I sighed. "She lives in Greece. I visited. Voila." I rolled my eyes.
"That's it?" Damon blinked. "Come on. I want the details. Did they do an eye transplant or something?"
I laughed but cringed inside thinking about it. So, I told him the whole story. Even about the ritual and me blacking out. It was the first time I had told anyone about what happened.
"So it wasn't witchcraft?" Damon asked impressed.
"I never really ask Yiayia about it," I shrugged. "She usually just gives me guidance when we talk."
"About your visions?"
"About dealing with my visions," I responded. "It's been a hard adjustment. Something I know you know all about,"
Damon shrugged as if it was nothing.
"Oh come on," I whined. "How did Damon Salvatore get to be who he is today?"
Damon went on to tell me about him and Stefan growing up, their strict father, Katherine, their relationships with Katherine, and finally how they were turned.
By the time he finished I was staring at him with my mouth agape.
"So wait, Katherine looks identical to Elena?" I asked. He nodded. "And she turned Caroline?" he nodded again. "And she's this mega bitch?
"Mega," Damon answered.
"But why? What's her motive?" I asked to more to myself than Damon. There had to be a reason.
"It's gonna be fun having you around, Erin," Damon chuckled. "You're definitely the smart one."
I was about to ask who he was in the group when it hit me. A vision.
"Vision!" I blurted before I could feel my eyes changing quickly.
Mason was sitting with…Elena? In a car.
"What was that stunt today that you pulled with Damon and Stefan Salvatore?" she asked him harshly.
"I thought you would be happy about that," Mason asked worried.
"I told you to stay away from them," Elena said. Then it hit me. This was Katherine. It had to be.
"Why do you even care?" Mason blurted at her annoyed.
"I don't want you to get distracted. I need you to find the moonstone."
Mason smiled at her.
"You got it?" Katherine asked changing her demeanor completely.
"I got it." He grinned and they kissed.
"Holy shit."
A/N: Voila! So, I know I had previously written an Author's Note promising Elijah, but here's the deal. There's a lot that happens in between now and to when we get to Elijah. So, I could have waited and had the longest chapter, or I could have updated now and updated again at a sooner time.
You guys deserved an update. I guess I got a little ahead of myself. My apologies, but you know what they say. Good things come to those who wait. :)
