Chapter 31: A New Challenger

~Card Capital, a little earlier~

After Shin and Misaki had set up shop, Shin disappeared to the back of the shop to mind stuff. Misaki took her usual spot behind the counter and started on her book.

~Aichi's House, much earlier~

"Well, I'll be going over to Card Capital now!" Misaki called out as she stepped out of the house.

"Be careful and have fun today!" Shizuka replied from the kitchen.

I think the two of them sorted out their problems. Shizuka allowed herself a smile as she went about doing the chores.

~Aichi's House, slightly earlier~

"Mom, I'm going to Card Capital now!" Aichi called out after bathing and finishing breakfast.

"Okay, be careful alright?" Shizuka asked from the doorway as Aichi headed to the main road.

"I'll be careful mom!" Aichi replied with a smile and left for Card Capital.

I hope his 'Psyqualia' power doesn't give him trouble again. Shizuka thought worriedly as she returned to her chores.

~Card Capital, now~

"Hey Misaki, where's Aichi?" Ren asked as he entered the shop with Asaka.

"Oh, his still at home." Misaki replied from behind her book.

"Oh…. Is he feeling any better?" Ren asked standing in front of the counter.

"Yeah, he is. He'll be coming in later." Misaki mused, and as if on cue, Aichi stepped into the store.

"Oh hey Aichi!" Ren greeted with a cheery smile.

"Hey Ren! Oh you're here too today Asaka?" Aichi greeted back.

"Yeah… Hey…" Asaka managed a weak smile as she took a seat in a corner of the store.

"Wanna play a game?" Ren challenged cheerily and Aichi accepted.

"Picture it, your Vanguard on Planet Cray." Aichi said.

"Now stand up vanguard" Both players called out.

~Five damages later~

"I call, Gigantech Charger! Revealing the top card of my deck, Starlight Unicorn! I give the +2000 to Alfred! Next I call Knight of Silence, Gallatin and Soul Guiding Elf to support Gallatin! Paying Alfred's counterblast, I search for Starlight Unicorn and call him to support Alfred! Once again, the +2000 is given to Alfred! With 5 units on the field, Alfred gains another +10000! King of Knights, Alfred, lead us to victory! I attack your avatar!" Aichi exclaimed.

"Ha, nice theatrics, but I guard! Perfect Guard! Dark Shield, Mac Lir!" Ren mocked as he put the Perfect Guard in the Guardian Circle.

"Checking the Twin Drive!" Aichi revealed the top two cards in his deck. A Critical Trigger and Draw Trigger.

"I give all effects to Gallatin and draw! Gigantech Charger supported by Maron, I attack your avatar!" Aichi proclaimed again.

"No way! I guard!" Ren placed three 5000 power guardians in the Guardian Circle.

"And now, Gallatin, with the additional 10000 power and Critical from the triggers, is supported by Soul Guiding Elf!" Aichi launched his final attack.

"Well, No Guard." Ren said as he checked his damage trigger. The trigger revealed was a Draw Trigger.

"Good play Ren!" Aichi shook hands with Ren as they packed up.

"Yeah! That was fun!" Ren smiled as they all sat around.

By this time, Kai, Miwa, Morikawa, Izaki, Eiji, Reiji and Kourin had arrived.

"So when was it that Misaki moved in with you Aichi?" Kourin brought up while everyone was chatting.

"Erm, couple of days ago?" Aichi thought back and counted the days.

"Why did she do that?" Kourin asked again, receiving a glare from Kai.

Aichi and Misaki took turns telling the story, from the official and then to getting re-adopted.

"So, you two are technically siblings right?" Kourin asked, a small smirk forming, realising that the two of them would not be able to be together if they were.

"Yeah, foster siblings." Misaki said, figuring out the smirk on Kourin's face.

"Why'd you ask anyway?" Aichi asked curiously, not sure why the topic was brought up.

"Oh I was just curious why she was living with you. That's all!" Kourin lied, putting an all too innocent smile.

"Oh.." Aichi nodded as he took it at face value.

The day continued with more cardfights, laughter, cheering, jeering and fun.

~Card Capital, Evening Time~

"Well, I have to go now. Bye guys." Izaki said as he got up to leave the shop.

"Well, The Great Morikawa better be going as well. I think you all have tasted enough of my 'greatness'." Morikawa said arrogantly, despite losing every battle he had in the day.

"Yeah, it's getting late and my parents want me home soon, yo." Eiji admitted sheepishly.

"I'm off too. By the way, you don't think Kamui and Emi are missing because…" Reiji asked Eiji as they walked out of the store.

"Well, we gotta go too, right Kai?" Miwa asked from the door.

Kai stood wordlessly as he kept his gaze on Ren and Aichi, who now shared a similar look on their face.

~While Izaki, Morikawa, Eiji and Reiji were leaving~

"Aichi, do you feel an upset in the balance of Cray?" Ren suddenly asked as his eyes flared pink for a moment.

"Yeah, I do." Aichi replied, his eyes flaring pink as well.

"Do you think something happened?" Ren asked, worry written on his face.

"I hope not. But I think we'd better go and check, what do you think Ren?" Aichi suggested as uncertainty wrote itself all over Aichi's face.

~Now~

"Why don't you go back first?" Kai said, much to everyone's surprise.

"Eh, okay…" Miwa cocked an eyebrow and turned to leave.

"What's up Aichi, Ren?" Kai asked them as soon as the automatic doors closed after Miwa.

"H-huh? What do you mean?" Aichi stuttered as he turned to face Kai.

"That look you and Ren had on your faces, what's going on?" Kai asked again, voice cold as ice.

"Well-" Ren started but was cut off by Aichi.

"Picture it! Your Vanguard on the Planet Cray! Now become that Vanguard and take form!" Aichi called out. Just then, the automatic doors opened as Emi and Kamui stepped in.

"Hey Aichi-" was all Emi managed to say before a white light engulfed her and Kamui.

A/N: And that's a wrap for this chapter! Very dry, I know. But it had to be for more exciting chapters to come! Anyway, I know you guys want more 'romance' to happen between Aichi and Misaki, but the battles in Cray have to be fought too. So I'll try to squeeze some 'romance' while their in Cray too, but don't expect too much alright? Their relationship now is just beginning so things have to develop. And while it develops on Cray, there will be more 'romance' when they are all back on Earth. Well, that's it for my author's note, except that I will be having my year end papers next week, so I'll be busy revising for it, so expect the next chapter in 3 weeks? That's the minimum at least… Now, on to CFVG Get Together! :)

Aichi: Yeah, hi readers!

Misaki: So what are we talking about today?

Kourin: How about we talk about why I'm not with Aichi.

Misaki: He's my boyfriend, so you can't have him!

Kourin: But you two are siblings. You two can't be in love!

Misaki: We can and are!

Me: And erm, there aren't many laws that state explicitly that foster siblings cannot fall in love, get married and have children. Not that this Fic is going anywhere near the stages of you guys reaching adulthood.

Kourin: N-no way!

Me: Yes way. And I'm not even joking. I just did some research.

Misaki: Well, what have you got to say now.

Kai: Must you keep dragging me in?

Me: C'mon, you're part of the crew! You know I'll be dragging you in, so why don't you just try to be happy a little?

Kai: …

Aichi: Yeah Kai, just cheer up a bit! I mean I'm sure the readers would want you to be more participative!

Emi: Yeah! No one likes a cold and nonchalant person.

Kamui: Yeah!

Ren: Just cheer up Kai! It's easy! Just smile and have fun!

Me: Yeah Kai, give this a chance!

Kai: If I give this a chance, will you not pair me up?

Me: Hmm… I'll promise you that now. But the readers want you to be paired up, I'll have to give them what they want. Deal?

Kai: You guys better not get him to pair me up.
