Chapter 7
Tris POV
I've been at college for a week now. I only know a few people including the gang and Peter. I also Zeke and Shauna but I'm not in any of their classes. Right now I'm heading to an interactive music class where we get to sing and play instruments. (AN: Keep in mind I've never been to college so this may not be a real course but in my awesome made up college it is.) Oz, Uriah, and Lynn are also in this class.
As soon as I walk in I see Oz and Lynn laughing while Uriah looks ticked. This is actually very common.
"What'd they do this time?" I ask, grinning.
"So you know how I get startled easily?" I nod. "They took the portable drum set, snuck up behind me, and started playing really loudly all of the sudden." At this description of the prank Lynn and Oz start cracking up again. I chuckle as well. Uriah storms off and then quickly returns.
"I just remembered, I only know one person in this class besides you guys. And that's my super annoying older bro that I wouldn't hang out with for 100 bucks."
"What about 200 bucks?" Oz asks.
"Maybe."
"I always knew you were cheap!" Lynn shouts.
"200 bucks isn't cheap!" I defend Uriah.
"It's cheaper than me. It would take at least 10,000 to get me to hangout with Shauna!" Lynn responds.
"It'd take 20,000 to get me to hang with my younger sis!" Oz shouts.
"You have a younger sister?" This isn't said by anyone in our group so we all turn around. Surprise, surprise, it's the only other person we know.
"Wait, actually, before I ask about the younger sister may I ask who you are?" Zeke asks Oz.
"Well, I am quite offended that Uriah didn't already tell you about me. I'm his new girlfriend. He dumped that (AN: cue bleep) player, Marlene, for me. I mean, I am much prettier than her." Oz says in a valley girl voice. Uriah plays along and puts his arm around her.
"Yeah, Zeke, this is Opal. Opal, this is my older brother Zeke." Oz looks Zeke up and down before walking over to him.
"Wow, you obviously got the look genes." Oz says while batting her eyelashes. Zekes mouth literally drops open. Uriah, Lynn, and I crack up. Zeke just points at Oz and tries to regain Uriah's attention.
Finally, it seems that Zeke can form words again.
"Uriah! Why'd you dump Marlene for this trash?!" Zeke shouts at Uriah. Uriah laughs even harder. Oz drops the act. She slaps him.
"Rude! You don't even know me! If you did you might want to take back those words." Oz raises her eyebrows. Zeke looks even more outraged.
"Uriah! She's obviously a cheater! Why?!" Zeke screams. Oz puts an evil expression on her face.
"I wouldn't have said that if I were you."
The next five minutes involved lots of Zeke crying out in pain, Oz laughing evilly, and Uriah, Lynn, and I rolling on the ground laughing.
"Okay! I surrender! I'm sorry! I understand now that Uriah hasn't dumped you yet because he's afraid of you!" Zeke says while hold out his hands to protect his face. Oz extends her hand. Zeke looks very confused now.
"Hello, I'm Oz! I think we got off on the wrong foot. I'm usually not that bad! Oh, and Uriah and Marlene are still a thing. I wouldn't dare break them up!" Oz says very enthusiastically. Zeke cautiously shakes her hand. Oz just smiles at him the whole time.
A guy comes over. He's wearing a sweatshirt with his hood up. The shadow of his hood falls on his face and I can just hardly make out blue eyes. Dark blue eyes. I gasp. It's very slight, but audible if you were paying attention. Oz noticed it. She looks at the man too.
"Um, I don't mean to be rude but, who are you and why don't you take that hood off? I'm sure it will make you seem less creepy!" Oz says. He takes his hood off. I would have seen his face but Oz immediately stepped in front of me. I try to peer around her but she blocks me. I pretend that I'm going to go one way but the n quickly run the other. Oz dives and misses me by an inch.
I finally see the mans face. He has dark blue eyes, a spare upper lip and a full lower lip, eyes so deep set his eyelashes touch the skin under his eyebrows. I know a face like that.
- Flashback -
"Tris, I have to tell you something. I'm going to college." He says looking into my eyes.
"I know, Four. We've discussed this before." I say calmly, returning his gaze. He takes a deep breath.
"Tris, I'm not going to Dauntless University. I'm going to a different state." He says. My whole world shatters in a matter of two sentences.
"Then it's official. We're done." I say, fighting back tears.
"Tris, we don't have to-"
"Yes, we do. Four, the only reason I agreed to not separate was because you were going to a college where I could visit you. Now, if you're going to one in a different state, I can't be with you." I say, still on the brink of tears.
"Why?"
"Because I know what college is like, Four. There are going to be girls much prettier than me who can fulfill your... needs while your at college. Not to mention that you lied about going to D.U. to me." I almost shout. Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry.
"Tris-"
"I don't care. We're done, Four, and that's final!"
- Flashback Over -
No. No, it can't be him. I'm certain it's not him. He always looked more confident then this man. No, it's not Four.
Marlene also seems to notice how much this man resembles him. She slowly walks over to me. Oz is laying on the ground. She looks up at me like she's trying to apologize.
Marlene leaves my side and steps forward.
"Hello, I'm Christina. And who are you again?" she says. The man looks slightly panicked for a second. But only for a second. The flash of emotion is gone just as quick as it came.
"Tobias," he says. He extends his hand and Christina shakes it. Her eyes are narrowed and seem very intimidating.
The teacher decides to start class. When did he get here? Huh, I guess I missed them come in.
- One Class Later -
I love music but I've never been a musician so half of that class made no sense to me. Marlene is a flute player and can sight read music really well. Oz has played the piano since she was five and has always loved music in general so she chose it as her minor. Uriah took the class because he's been playing guitar since he was six and wants to be a music teacher. And Lynn is a drummer, pianist, guitarist, and singer plus her friends are minoring in music so she decided to join us.
So, basically, I'm the only person who doesn't get music.
I collect my stuff and start walking towards the door. Oz joins me on my right and Marlene on my left. Uriah is on her left and Lynn on Oz's right. I feel as if we are an impenetrable wall. An impenetrable wall of friendship. God that sounds cheesy.
Someone runs into my back. Oz is also hit and turns around to confront them.
"Sir, just because you're bigger than me does not mean that I'm smart enough to not pick a fight with you!" she shouts.
"That hardly made sense."
"I suggest you leave me alone unless you want to experience horrible pain." Oz says in a very sassy way. This could go quite a few directions.
"Like I'm afraid of you."
"Dude what are you-" That's Zekes voice. I decide to turn around at this point.
The sight I'm greeted with is quite amusing. Oz is standing up to a guy who is easily five inches taller than her. She shows no sign of fear nor of backing down. The man is the so called "Tobias". He doesn't look scared in the slightest either. On the other hand Zeke looks absolutely mortified. The expression on his face is so amusing that I can hear Lynn taking pictures of it on her phone. I would stop all this chaos if I didn't want to see the ending. I'm horrible.
Zeke stops making his ridiculous face and speaks.
"Dude, don't mess with her. She's crazy. Absolutely crazy. If your going to pick a fight with anyone choose my little bro. Actually, if you hurt him in the slightest I might have to kill you." Tobias apparently doesn't believe Zeke. And decides to keep bugging Oz.
"Zeke, I'm much stronger than you, you know that right? I could easily take on this toothpick chick." Tobias says. Oz's face turns so red a tomato would be jealous.
"Toothpick chick? Really? That is stupid on so many different levels! First off I am not a 'toothpick chick', I'm almost as broad as you. You want to fight a toothpick chick? Tris is right over there! Sorry Tris, love ya but it's true!" Oz shouts over her shoulder at me. I smile.
"I'm not offended." Oz smiles and then returns to glaring at Tobias.
"Second off I could hurt you very very badly. And I want to as well. I'm currently using all my restraint so one more snide comment from you and I think I won't be able to keep myself from charging at you." Tobias pretends to think very deeply about this.
"I agree completely with the toothpick girl comment. You're more of a hippo-" he doesn't get to finish his sentence due to Oz charging full speed at him.
You know how when people get in fights in cartoons there's just a ball of chaos rolling around? That's exactly what it looks like right now. You here screams of rage in both a female and male voice. At one point Zeke tries to break it up but then runs away whimpering due to Oz clawing him.
No one in our group of friends does anything to stop it. We all cheer for Oz. I hope she wins this fight. That Tobias guy really deserved it. He kept pushing her buttons.
- Time Skip -
They've been fighting for about 15 minutes now. The excitement of the fight has faded for everyone except for Tobias and Oz. I'm amazed that no one has walked down this hallway yet and broken up the fight. You know what, I think I've had enough of this.
I walk towards the fight. I might get seriously injured if I try to break up the fight. Oh well. I suddenly jump in between Oz and Tobias just as Tobias was about to punch Oz in the face. I quickly duck. Since I hear no sound of impact I guess Oz did too.
"Stop it! The rest of us are getting bored. Just swear to finish this battle somewhere else!" Oz and Tobias continue to glare at each other. I notice how both of them only have a few ugly cuts and bruises.
"This battle will never be finished! He is the bane of my existence! The Voldemort to my Harry! The Lex Luthor to my Superman! The Darth Vader to my Luke Skywalker! He is my arch enemy!"
"Who is?" Oh, for gods sake! As if there wasn't enough trouble happening already! Actually, this is perfect! I can start acting like a bratty girlfriend! You're going to pay Peter.
"Peetsy-Weetsy! Where have you been all week?! I've missed you so much! You are easily the second hottest boy on campus!" I squeal after latching myself onto his arm. He suddenly looks very angry.
"Who's the first hottest boy on campus?" he asks in a very dark and scary voice. I try to think of a lie on the spot. Thankfully Oz is much better at this than I am and answers for me.
"Zeke, of course! I mean, look at him! He's so hot!" Zeke, who was previously rocking back in worth while curled up in a ball in the corner, gets up at this.
"I told you she was a player! She kee-" his voice is muffled because Oz's hand is clamped over his mouth. She then gives us a very dramatic wink and drags him off into the corner.
"As Oz said, Zeke is extremely hot! As in way hotter than you! Sorry babe but it's true!" Peter looks very grumpy now. Marlene, who seems to be enjoying this, decides that Peter should have an even worse time.
"Tris! Did you know there's a sale going on at Abercrombie?! We should totally go shopping!" Marlene squeals. I drop Peters arm and do the jumpy-hug thing with Marlene. She then turns back around towards Uriah and shoos him off. I quickly grab Peter and drag him out the door with Marlene, all the while chatting with her about what we're going to get.
Oz POV
"Please don't hurt me! I have a family and a girlfriend that I love!" he pleads.
"Just shut up already! I'm not going to hurt you, I'm only going to explain something to you! Peter is a dirty rotten cheater, and he is 'dating' Tris. I found him cheating on her and we decided to torture him for a month and then dump him. So, please, just play along. If you don't I'll hurt you!" I say.
He nods.
"Okay."
"Good. I like you, I have power over you. Unlike that Tobias guy! He's so overly confident!" I rant.
"Yeah, he can be a bit of a jerk sometimes. But I hang out with him anyways." Zeke says as if it isn't a big deal. It's a huge deal! He hangs out with that scum! Ugh!
"You hang out with him?! Wow, you must really be desperate for friends!" I shout.
"Yeah, he's been my best friend since we were toddlers. We do everything together! We've even gone to all the same schools!" Wait a second.
"Even high school?" I ask.
"Of course!"
"Didn't you go to the same high school as Tris?"
"How else would she have met me?" he says in the voice that you use to tell someone that one plus one makes two.
I have a eureka moment.
"He's Four, isn't he?" Zeke looks extremely startled by this question.
"How'd you know?" he asks.
"It all adds up. He went to the same high school as Tris, he looks the way they described him, he's two years older than us, isn't he?" Zeke nods. I nod in a sort of 'I understand' way.
"He's going to hate me! He told me not to tell anyone!" Zeke looks so panicked it makes me realize how much he cares about his friendship with Four.
"Well, technically, I figured it out by myself, so you never told anyone, just confirmed it. And I won't tell anyone. I promise. I swear on my sisters life!" I state with my hand up to my heart.
"Okay."
I'm soooo sorry about the long wait! I'm super sorry! I've been in a beach house with no wi-fi for a week. I only got back three days ago! I thought this summer was going to be super mellow but truthfully it's chaos! I might not be able to update at all in August! Seriously! :( I wrote an extra long chapter today though so I hope that makes you guys hate me less!
I'm leaving for another continent on the fifth and I get back on the 17th. This will be a challenge so I guess I'll just update a few times before then. I will. I swear I will. I, Oz, solemnly swear to update both of my current stories at least once before July 5th 2014.
Okay, so, how about 115 reviews? I trust you guys can do it! I know you can! Review if you are ticked off because of my lack of updates (I should review then as well...)! Farewell!
