Chapter 34: Post-Mortem, A Big Mess, And A Title That Has Pretty Much No Link To The Chapter At All

~Planet Cray, outside the Royal Beacon~

"Aichi! What are you doing here?" Jonathan asked as he slowed to a jog nearing the Beacon.

"Well, Ren and I sensed an unbalance in the forces on Cray so we decided to drop by." Aichi explained as Jonathan stood amongst the group.

"And it's a good thing we did too. Akane was getting attacked when we got here." Kai said nonchalantly.

"You guys got to her in time? Is she okay? Please tell me she's okay." Jonathan breathed heavily as he tried to catch his breath and quell the rising fear.

"Yeah. She's resting inside now. Kamui managed to stop her attackers from dealing too great damage." Aichi reassured Jonathan.

"K-kamui? You mean you brought more people over?" Jonathan asked, slightly surprised.

"Erm, hello? I'm standing right here mister." Kourin raised her clawed gauntlets and waved them.

"Oh right. And you must be 'new' too huh?" Jonathan ask Kai.

"Yeah. Name's Kai. And you're Jonathan?" Kai introduced himself.

"That's correct. But you may know me better as Blaster Blade." Jonathan reintroduced his title.

"I'm Kourin by the way." Kourin spoke up as Jonathan brushed past them into the Beacon.

"Let me check on her." Jonathan said as Aichi was about to say something as he stepped into the Beacon.

"He seems really concerned huh?" Kourin asked nobody in particular.

"Well, they are childhood friends so…" Aichi shrugged as the trio stood awkwardly outside.

~Planet Cray, Royal Beacon~

"Akane?" Jonathan whispered as he closed the door behind him.

"Oh Jonathan! Akane's resting right now." Misaki walked out to greet him.

"So she's okay?" Jonathan heaved a sigh of relief.

"Yeah." Misaki nodded and called Kamui and Emi.

"We'll get out of your way now." Misaki smiled at Jonathan and started leading Kamui and Emi out.

"Hold on. You're Kamui?" Jonathan asked, sizing up the half mech, half boy walking out.

"Y-yeah. Why?" Kamui stopped in his tracks and turned to face Jonathan.

"Thanks for saving her. I owe you one." Jonathan said quietly and turned his attention back to Akane.

"No. It was the right thing to do. It's fine." Kamui shrugged as he turned back towards the door.

"Akane, you okay? It's me, Jonathan." Jonathan whispered as he squatted beside her chair.

"J-jonathan? You're okay?" Akane blinked her eyes into focus.

"I'm fine. But are you?" Jonathan inquired further.

"Yeah. Oh my gosh I'm so relieved you're okay!" Akane leaped at Jonathan and crashed into an embrace on the floor.

"Y-yeah. But what were you doing outside. I gave the order for everyone to stay indoors didn't I?" Jonathan asked as he inhaled the scent of Akane's hair in his face.

"I thought I heard some cubs outside and I thought they had ran away. So I went out to look for them. But it was just a trap." Akane buried herself further into the embrace.

"You silly girl. You trained the cubs yourself. They are the most obedient cubs around! Why would they have ran away?" Jonathan ran his fingers through her hair and pushed her hair behind her ear.

"I don't know. But I just couldn't risk letting them get injured if they did run away." Akane whispered softly as she started to close her eyes, holding back the tears from coming out of the eyes lids.

"Well I'm glad you're fine. I can't believe how lucky we are right now… If Aichi and his friends didn't show up when they did I wouldn't have been able to make it back in time." Jonathan stopped playing with her hair and pulled her tighter into the embrace.

"W-we? Jonathan?" Akane asked, red reaching her cheeks from within Jonathan's arms.

"A-akane.. I have something I should have told you a long time ago." Jonathan pushed her back a little, looking into her eyes.

"W-what is it?" Akane asked, anticipating a confession and preparing her best surprised look

"When we made that bet all those years ago, I really wished that I had told you this then." Jonathan continued beating around the bush.

"Yeah? What is it?" Akane could hardly hold back her anticipation as she tried her hardest to hold back a smile.

"I never wanted you to train the High Beasts. I wanted you to fight by my side. To look out for me. And so I could look out for you too." Jonathan took a breath and closed his eyes.

"Jonathan?" Akane couldn't hold back her disbelief.

"If you were with me in the field. This wouldn't have happened today. I would have been able to keep you safe." Jonathan gazed straight into Akane's eyes again.

"I… I don't know what to say Jonathan. I mean-" Akane was cut off as Jonathan pulled her into another embrace.

"I was this close to losing you Akane. I love so much and I don't know what I would do if anything ever happened to you!" Jonathan wept as the tears rolled down his cheeks, dampening Akane's hair.

"I love you too Jonny!" Akane exclaimed as she placed her lips on his as they simply enjoyed each other's company and the moment.

A/N: And that concludes yet another chapter of this horribly long and drawn out Fic because I don't have a schedule to keep to because I am lazy and disorganized as heck… So erm… Hope you guys don't mind such a late update and continue to support this Fic because I'm doing it for you guys and without your support, this Fic would never have existed. So stay awesome and look forward to more action-packed and romance-filled chapters ahead. At least I hope, if I don't give up half way like I do with everything I do… Anyways off to CFVG Get Together!

Aichi: Hey everyone! It's been quite a while huh? *rolls eyes at me*

Me: H-hey! In my defense I'm a lazy and useless piece of-

Kai: We all know that. But next time at least give your raiders some heads up?

Me: What's that supposed to mean? I already told them that this year in general would be quite tight due to my 'O' Levels at the end of the year!

Kai: Well you should still at least try to post fillers and stuffs.

Aichi: Yeah! Maybe a couple of oneshots now and then. Short ones if you don't have too much time.

Kai: Exactly, don't just go MIA for forever and then come back with one slipshod chapter.

Me: You know what? You guys are right. I'll put in more effort into things and maybe post more stuff alright?

Ben: HEY! YOU MIGHT BE FORGETTING SOMEONE ELSE HERE!

Me: Oh c'mon this isn't your Fic get lost!

Ben: Yeah but since everyone's on the bandwagon I thought I'd pop by and give you a heads-up too.

Me: Alright that was Ben, an OC from my Pokémon Fic. But don't check it out. Bugger doesn't deserve an awesome audience like you guys.
