Chapter 15
Christina walks down the hallway I'm in exactly after Will hangs up. It takes all the self control in me not to scream "Will's coming soon!" at the top of my lungs. I would bet one hundred dollars on the fact that I probably have a red face and a hilarious expression on my face. This assurance is based on the fact that Christina gives me a strange look and I just had a very exciting phone call.
"Am I missing something here?" Christina asks as she walks down the hallway. I jog up to her side.
"Maybe." I respond.
"Do I want to know?" she asks without even glancing my way.
"Probably."
She gives me a searching look that makes me feel like I can't hide anything from her. Like she's a parent and I'm her little girl who is trying to smuggle the cat she found on the streets into the house. I fight back with a defiant glare that a teenager would give her parents. (AN: Admit it. You know it's true.)
"What is it?" she asks, finally ending all the strange looks and mental comparisons.
"Something. That happened. That you will never know." I respond with a cackle. She cracks a small grin but not a Christina one. I immediately assume a serious expression.
"What's up with you?" I ask. She looks like she's about to bite back with an insult then decides better of it.
"I'm not having a great day." She turns away from me.
"Can you elaborate?" I ask as we turn. I see our dorm just down the hallway. There is a heavy silence as we approach the room. I open the door and the second I close it she breaks down.
"Hush, it's okay." I say as I rub my hand in a circular movement on her back.
"I miss him." I hear her quietly whisper. She then pulls away form me and drys her eyes like it never happened. I hug her and she hugs me back.
"Thank you," she says. I grin.
"What are best friends for?"
Line Break
Later that night I'm sitting in my bed reading while Christina and Marlene are gossiping and Oz enters. The tension that has, been there lately is gone and
Christina waves her over. Oz smiles and joins the two. I smile softly to myself and enjoy the peaceful happiness that we have going on right now.
Line Break
The next day I wake up and see I have a text message on my phone.
Will: I'm coming next Saturday.
"Of course he doesn't use text slang," is my first thought before I realize I only have three days to prepare things.
Me: K. Telling Oz and Mar.
I shake Marlene and Oz vigorously. Oz sits out immediately and Marlene attempts to slap me. She ends up slapping Oz. Oz slaps her and Marlene sits so rigidly straight up you'd think she is at a military school. Oz laughs at her panicked and alert facial expression causing me to roll my eyes at them. It's like they're children waking up for school and I'm their mother.
Eventually everyone wakes up fully and I sneak them just outside of the dorm.
"Will is coming in three days. We are not to tell Christina and we have to plan a romantic day for them." I announce deciding to not waste anytime. Marlene squeals and Oz gets a faraway look in her eyes. I raise an eyebrow but she doesn't seem to notice. Whatever.
We stand outside our dorm in our pajamas discussing plans for about an hour. Half of that hour Oz stares off into space and we just let her be. When she comes back she has the whole day planned. We all pitch into the plans and eventually decide on one group of activities.
Oz rushes back inside to grab her phone. Five minutes later were still standing out here.
"What's taking her so long?" Marlene says, her tone suggesting annoyance.
"I'll go check."
I dash inside to find
Christina has woken up and she is determined to cool breakfast. Oz gives me a look of apology. I go back outside and grab Marlene's arm.
"Wha-"
"Christina woke up. I'm going to go in. My alibi is that I was going pee. What's yours?" I ask. Marlene thinks for a few seconds before saying,
"I was hanging out with Uriah." I nod. It's good enough.
I walk in and take a seat on my bed and greet Christina and Oz. Marlene walk sign about two minutes later saying bye to an imaginary person.
"Where were you to?" Christina asks.
"I was going to the bathroom." I state.
"I was with Uriah." Marlene chirps. Christina shifts her gaze to Oz.
"I was going to the bathroom but then I got lost and decided I could hold it," she explains. Christina shrugs.
"Anyone want pancakes!?" Christina shouts. We all cheer.
Mm, I love pancakes.
Line Break
Three days later, at about 9:00am on a certain Saturday morning there is a knock on our dorms door. Oz, Marlene, and I fake sleep forcing a grumbling Christina to get up and answer the door. Something tells me that once she opens it her mood will improve drastically.
A squeal loud enough to wake up the whole hallway sounds, confirming my suspicions. I grin into my pillow and I bet Oz and Marlene are doing the same.
"Surprise!" A deep voice shouts. I look up from my pillow to see Christina tackle Will and start making out with him. I would usually turn away but today I just stare at them. Two more heads pop up in my field of vision. I hear Marlene cooing and Oz laughing.
Five or so minutes later a grinning couple pops up in the doorway. Will looks like he just walked out of some romance movie, with his hair all messed up, lipstick on his face, and a stunned yet happy look upon his face.
I get up to hug him but Oz beats me to it. She extends a hand and before she can even start talking Christina growls at her. Oz retracts her hand for a moment before extending it again. This time Will shakes it before Christina can growl.
"You must be Oz. I'm Will," he says. Christina gives him a look that clearly says "traitor!" but he doesn't seem to notice.
"Hello! I'm Oz! I've heard all about you! Christina really likes you, you know. I think she's a keeper." Oz winks. A smile replaces the murderous glare on Christina's face now. Will laughs and hugs her close to him.
"I know she is."
I walk over to him next. Christina finally lets go of his arm so we can hug.
"How are you doing Tris?" he asks politely after we stop hugging.
"I'm marvelous. How's our favorite brainiac doing?" I tease. Christina latches on to him once more.
"I'm good."
Marlene greets Will while Oz cooks breakfast. She cooks two heart shaped pancakes and makes three bowls of cereal. We talk about anything and everything at breakfast. Once we finish I clean our dishes and get ready. By 10 o'clock Oz, Marlene, and I are out of the dorms. We planned Christina and Will's schedule so that they spend the morning in our dorm room, have a picnic at lunch, wander around town for the afternoon and share a romantic dinner at some fancy restaurant that Marlene's second cousin owns.
"Now we just have to find something to do." Oz jokes. Marlene cracks a grin and suggest we wander the campus.
We walk up and down empty corridors for a good two hours before Oz's face lights up and she tells us to follow her. She leads us into the woods near our campus. I send a confused glance in Marlene's direction.
Once we enter a clearing though all my doubts and confusion about Oz's path slip away. It was absolutely beautiful. There is a little river running down the middle of it with a few large rocks next to it. There is also a large range of beautiful flowers. The treetop canopy overhead adds a nice feel that remind you that you're still out in the woods but it also makes you feel like you are inside in a shelter.
I sit on a rock that I could probably lie on without either my head or feet going over the edge while Marlene goes around smelling all the flowers. Oz sits next to me for a couple of minutes before she excuses herself and leaves. Oh well. I'm sure we can find our way back to the university.
I lie back and appreciate the beauty of the are for a while before drifting off.
Is this long enough to make up for my lack of updates? Oh, speaking of lack of updates, if you read both of my Divergent stories (well, the ones Im currently working on) you have probably noticed that I haven't been updating Cupids Troubles a lot lately. That is because (I'm not sure if I've said this already or not) I'm trying to get this story done. I have my reasons to want this story done. And they really excite me so all of you should be very excited.
Anyways, I haven't really been doing much lately. This year for school I have to play sports which sort of really sucks but also isn't as bad as I thought it would be because I'm playing goalie on my field hockey time which means I don't have to do all the warm up running everyone else does. :)
I started reading the Percy Jackson series (I got Sea of monsters yesterday at 10am and finished it today at 12:30. I'm still trying to get my hands on Titans Curse.) and it is so absolutely amazing! Dare I say it, it's Finnick-Worthy! I swear to god Percy and Finnick are half brothers, which makes it natural that I may or may not sort of like Percy. ;) Finnick is still the bomb. I guess Percy is now #4 of hopeless romances that will never happen. I have fallen in love with two of the romances (there is some scientific study out there that says crushes only last four months and then you're in love) I'm still waiting on two.
QOTD: Have you ever "fallen in love" (according to the study)?
My Answer: I've fallen hard for a fictional character like a boss.
