A/N I'm sorry really sorry I actually have been havong some health problems and stuff so I was unable to post stuff or use my computer at all because my mom couldn't/wouldn't bring it to me. I know no excuses but I have a new chapter so here it is.

Disclaimer: I own nothing, wish I did but I don't.

Here we go!

"Did we take that case?" Ruzeck asked.

"No but Jay and Sean worked it." Antonio replied.

"What do you mean Jay and Sean worked it?" Lindsay asked close to tears.

"When they worked at the 28th Roman's partner was….." Voight didn't know how to tell his unit the gory details.

"What happened to Roman's partner?" Ruzeck asked looking like he was about to scream, cry in a corner or both.

"She was umm she was shot." Voight rushed out of his mouth.

"What!" The group collectively exclaimed.

Voight rushed to explain before his team started yelling and attracting the attention of everyone else in the predicint "Roman was a both patrol officers in the 28th six years ago. At the same time Halstead had just become a detective there. Roman and his previous partner Julie Matene had been called off on a routine call a theft at a local stop-n-shop. It wasn't a theft. There was a man who had called it in. Roman told his supervisor that he said he was only looking for Julie. But the security tapes tell us that Roman only escaped without a bullet in his chest because his vest hadn't been tampered with,"

"How does Jay come into this?" Olinsky asked calmly but inside he was screaming. Upset at himself for missing this key detail about Jay's history.

"I'm getting there." Voight continued on with his story "So they found out later that Jay and Roman's vest's had been swapped and that saved his life. He signed out of the Hospital AMA about a day after he had been admitted. He seemed intent on finding this man but since the chief over in the 28th thought that the two could have been targeted he was placed into protective custody and didn't leave a safe house for 2 weeks. Jay comes into play because he was the detective who caught the guy. Roman seems to be grateful towards him ever since. There's something you should know both Jay and Sean developed PTSD Sean just developed a mild case but it sent Jay's previous PTSD from Afghanistan into overdrive. That's when he came to me and our when we find them hey could be acting out of a place of fear and do things unlike their normal selves. On another note be careful these are dangerous criminals and they won't stop until they get the people who they want dead."Voight ended his story very solemnly and the team seemed to be in shock. He knew that the information previously disclosed to the team was nothing of this caliber and the news of Sean's PTSD that had come as a shock to him too when he read Roman's file.

The group looked surprised and it was Olinsky who finally spoke "Okay, we have new information. This Danny guy Jay caught him?"

"Yes. Jay caught Danny and he plead not guilty to first degree murder and attempted murder." Voight answered.

"He was found guilty. Right?" Ruzeck asked hopefully.

"Not quite." Voight said hesitantly begging with his eye's for Platt to take over and finish explaining so he could get upstairs. His team didn't need to see him cry and yell because Jay's biggest fear had come true and because Danny would want revenge. If Danny didn't know the people who took Jay maybe he would be stupid enough to sniff around the predicint. Voight thought hopefully.

As if she was the answer to his prayers Platt came in and shooed him upstairs into the bullpen, saying he had paperwork to do or something like that. He was happy but a bit afraid he hadn't told his team the full story. Heck he hadn't even told his supervisors the full story yet. He wasn't sure if Sean would want to keep this secret. Heck he didn't know what to think of this secret.

In the dingy room they had been placed in Jay and Sean were recovering from the gruff voice's "questions". "Jay?" Sean asked.

"What is it, R?" Jay shot back bitterly.

"Listen what he told you it's not true. Well it is but you need to listen to me. I can explain." Sean whispered desperately. He felt about to explode so many things had been said, so many seeds of doubt had been planted, he had to get Jay to listen to him. None of it was true. Unless.

"Sean?" You okay?" Jay asked. "You were uhh, kinda, like grimacing or something." He seemed unsure of what he was saying or thinking Roman couldn't tell.

"Fine." Jay began to worry. It was so dark down there he could have easily missed something that the voice had done to Sean. And one word answers weren't good signs, especially after the look he had just seen on Roman's face.

"Listen you know that…" He was cut off by Sean talking loudly and by the way it sounded painfully.

"What? are you going to tell me some load of crap about how I call tell you what happened. How I should trust you. If you get out of here you'll…." Sean said but in the dark room it seemed like screams echoing in Jays ears but he caught something out of place.

"Hang on you can get back to your rant in a minute but you said if I get out, what about you? Sean we're both getting out of here." Jay said "You know that right." He added and even though he could just barely make out Sean's face he could almost feel him averting his eye's and turning his face away from him. "Sean, we are both getting out of this. And when we do you know what will happen?" He asked trying to provoke more than a one word expression out of him.

"The department is gonna make us go to some lame psych person until she say's we won't purposely kill anyone who looks or sounds like these guys. Maybe you mean the fact that Voight is gonna find out about you and your crush on Lindsay. Or how if I die you won't come to the funeral, or how you'll drink yourself half to oblivion in a different bar every night on my birthday and on every anniversary of my death." Sean said "Yeah I know about all of that stuff. You're not too good at hiding it Jay. Whether it's because you get sloppy and are an emotional wreck or because"

"Because what Sean?" Jay prompted.

"Because I do the same thing."

The men sat in silence both thinking of this bond that they shared. Thinking of how different life would be without having each other around. Sure they could both be a pain but in all ways except ancestry they were brothers. Sean had been there for Jay, and Jay had been there for Sean in bad, ugly and even worse times.

"Sean?" Jay finally spoke after a minute that felt like a decade. "What if"

"Don't ask Jay it makes death seem like a reality."

"That sounds familiar."

"It should its from the army."

"You enlisted? WHen?"

"I didn't but my father did."

"Oh what war."

"Iraq."

"I thought"

"He lied."

"What?" Sean asked.

"What?" Jay asked.

"Sorry to startle you boys I was just wondering when Mr. Roman came up with that story. Because his father has never been out of the country let alone in combat overseas." The voice from earlier had said. "So, where did that story come from Mr. Roman?"

"My father was in Iraq." Sean stated blandly. These people know everything else about my life why didn't they bother to know this. He thought.

"No you see Mr. John Sylvester Michal Roman; your father for clarification; has never been in Iraq or in combat anywhere else." The voice continued.

"Fine you want to know." Sean snapped at the air around him unsure of where the man was.

"Oh goodie a little story to tell yay." The man said monotone with a little clap.

"Sean." Jays voice was on edge as if telling him that he didn't have to prove himself to these criminals.

"You want to know. You really want to know." Roman shouted at the air.

"Fine, My father, my real father was in Iraq i don't care about what my birth certificate says. My father came back on medical leave in the beginning of 1988 him and my mom had an affair somewhere along the line she got pregnant. He left 3 days after they found out and went back to the army. I get news when I was 8 that he had been killed in combat. So there you go. Is that what you wanted, the tragic story of the way I was conceived. It wasn't pretty but why would I care my father was definitely a lot better than yours, I mean who teaches their son to be a coward, show your face." Sean spoke loudly. Jay winced, this could not end well for Sean at least.

Suddenly the lights in the room they were in snapped on temporarily blinding both policemen. In those short few seconds two men had managed to jump Jay and Sean suddenly a needle pierced Jay's neck and before he slipped into unconsciousness he heard a loud scream and his last thought before the black consumed him was That had better not belong to Sean.

Kim slowly became aware of her surroundings mostly the bright light coming from the sun. She willed her arms to move and cover her eyes but they didn't do so at first. It was then that she realized that her hands were held behind her back. SHe twisted her now becoming extremely sore body around to see and found that her arms were held back by old plastic ties. She summoned the rest of her strength and snapped them in one fluid motion. Slowly she moved herself back up to a more comfortable sitting position and assessed her surroundings as she had been trained in the academy.

All extremities intact. Okay where are you, no idea, okay, what happened? She thought to herself suddenly she let out an audible gasp as she remembered what happened. SHe resolved herself to get to a police station, any police station so that she could get help for Sean and Jay was jay there she thought she had seen him so with an idea in mind she counted to 3 and stood. There was only one problem as she stood a car screeched by peppering the secluded stretch of river she was on and perilously injuring Kim and the three other people who had ended up here by the west branch of the Chicago River.

Voight got a call of a shooting by the river only about a half mile from where Sean, Jay and Kim had been taken. Kim. He thought to himself I'd better ask Ruzeck how he's holding up. The sergeant smiled to himself thinking about the two's relationship and how they thought no one knew when in fact the whole district and some people from other districts knew.

Suddenly he came upon Ruzeck staring at him with the look of a wounded puppy dog. "It's her." He whispered.

"Adam who, who is her?" Voight asked trying to get a straight answer before the man dissolved into tears.

"Kim she, she, she was in the shooting." Ruzeck said breaking down in front of the entire unit who had gathered upon hearing his relatively morbid words.

There was a collective shock to the group and it was ANtonio who took charge ordering people around. "Okay, Alvin please calm Adam down. Lindsay, Atwater head down to the scene Sarge and I will join you in a minute after we head down to the hospital and see if any of the victims are coherent. Okay people lets go move it." The team jumped into action ALvin moving Ruzeck into the locker room. Lindsay and Atwater jumping into their car and Antoni and voight looking off after them. Antonio thought nothing of it when he answered the phone that had fallen out of Ruzek's hands but he would remember the feeling he got from it for the rest of his life.
