Chapter 2: New Girl

After the drive which resulted in a few questions here and there, but Misty was just quiet for the most part as she just watched her fellow 'gifted' people. Her eyes caught sight of a tall mansion like gate that connected with a surrounding brick wall and a plaque that read: "Xavier's School for the Gifted". The gates were on cue, opening with the van driving in. Misty could only see the outside, a giant fancy house that looked antique and covered in vines through the window. The van stopped by a fountain and Misty opened the door, stepping on the stone pavement.

She placed the backpack on her back, "Wow….this place is really big."

Scott came out of his side. "You haven't seen the inside yet."

She gulped her saliva, because she was uncomfortable and nervous. She stared at Scott, the question in her head that popped up about the man's glasses was interrupted with children laughing then a ball came flying out of nowhere and landing—well, more like having a crash collision on her head.

"Ow!" she exclaimed.

Scott quickly turned from the mansion to Misty, seeing the girl get hit. Another ball came his way, he lifted his visor and blasted the second ball into oblivion.

"Whoops! Sorry," said a voice as the culprit ran towards her. "You alright?"

Misty's eyes opened a bit, "Yeah, I think so? God that hurt!" She straightened up, catching sight of a boy that older than her. He had light brown hair and wore a t-shirt and jeans. His hand was opened, she instantly took it. It felt cold, a little unnerving. She instantly let go.

"Sorry, I'm trying to control that," he laughed as if he knew what she was thinking.

Another voice came with a thick Russian accent, "Geez Louise, you hit her! Ye have a calamity," said a boy with dark hair whom turned into a white colored duck. How did he do that? No, it's not that weird. She saw weirder things.

"Oh, zip it, Oriel. She's fine, right?" his blue eyes glanced back at her. His grin was eager.

"Yeah, so long it doesn't open my wound," she joked. Misty kind of felt a bit of anger. Why he had to smile at her like that? Was it funny she got hit? If so, she wasn't going to have fun here.

"Hey, Bobby, watch your aiming. You could have hurt someone," said Scott sternly as he came over to the teens.

"Aww, I said I'm sorry! I'm sure she's fine." He retorted. One eye closed while the other looked at Misty.

Scott shook his head. "I'll be right back. Bobby, don't do anything else for our guest." He walked towards the back of the van to get Misty's luggage. Apparently Jean had been helping Xavier out of the van.

"Aye aye, Cap!" Bobby added.

"So, you new meat, yes? From Russia, we tell that to our Siberia inmates," the duck continued to talk. Misty looked down at the plumped bird.

"Oriel, she said she's a warrior, didn't you hear?" stated Bobby. He may seem scatterbrained but he had been listening to Misty very carefully. Her wound made her no warrior, right?

"No one as tough as Siberian Russian."

"OMG, you guys! Stop it, where did the ball go?" asked a voice as a girl with brown hair tied in a ponytail came to them, seemingly from out of nowhere. Between the two, she crossed her arms, spotting crispy pieces of the second ball that was defeated next to Misty and a good ball a little farther.

Seeing that her head was throbbing and the ball seemed to be the plaything everyone was interested in, Misty became annoyed, grabbing the ball and then shooting a look at Bobby. "Here, fetch your precious ball!" with that, she eagerly kicked it up the air as high as she could, causing the kids to watch in awe. The girl looked surprised, the duck boy was quiet and Bobby said.

"Oh, wow!" Bobby exclaimed, leaving Misty to be somewhat proud, but annoyed it didn't hit her would-be target. As he stood still in front of her, "You gotta do that again and join the team." He spoke again, impressed. She furrowed her eyebrows just as Scott came back.

"Misty, we going to get you settled in. Jean and the Professor got something to talk about so I'm leaving you to Kitty to take you to the nurse's office," said Scott.

Misty looked at the trio and instantly the girl with the ponytail came in front of her. "Hiya!" she bumped shoulders on Misty and then looked up the red visor man. "Dr. Sakura, right?"

"Yes, make sure she checks out Misty's head," spoke Scott. Misty didn't like that. It made her sound like they were checking to see if she was not insane. "We just want to make sure she is alright. She's been thought an ordeal."

"Ouch," Kitty winced. Her eyes looked at Misty, "Follow me!" she signaled to Misty, beginning to make her way to the mansion. Misty looked around at the others and quickly followed Kitty to the front door into the manor where the smell and look fit the outside, all antique furnished. She trailed behind Kitty who walked way ahead of her, but glanced back and smiled. "So sorry for the hit, but that was one heck of a kick." She lightened up.

"Uh, thanks?" Misty answered. Unsure she should be smiling about that as that wasn't her intention. Suddenly Kitty changed the subject, probably feeling it was needed to make the girl feel at home.

"So what's your super power? I phase through anything tangible if you haven't notice," she spoke in a friendly manner.

"Water, I guess… I'm not one hundred percent sure," Misty said meekly as they continued to walk in the long and wide hallways. There must have been many rooms as they passed multiple doors until they came upon a set of double oaken doors. Kitty took hold of the knob and looked at Misty.

"This is kind of late, but welcome to Xavier's School for the Gifted!"
