-Chapter six-

(I feel like this chapter is short but I hope you like it! Please leave me comments I love to hear from you guys :D I didn't release this as fast as I wanted to but it's here non the less! Enjoy)

Edden stood in front of Eddy's door raising and lowering her hand walking back and forth from his porch, kicking her leather boot on the welcome mat until finally his front door swung open.

"ARE YOU COMING IN OR NOT SOCK HEAD?!" Eddy looked frustrated a single vein raising on his left temple. He was wearing baggy bright blue sweats and a white wife beater. Edden noticed that he was skinny, opposed to when he was young, she could never tell because he always wore clothes that were way too big on him. She hesitated not really sure what to say she sort of went without a plan which was not like her. Of course when it came to her close friends she never really did have a plan.

She opened her mouth to say something when Ed came out and picked her up threw her over his shoulder and brought her inside.

"DOUBLE DEEEEEE! Inside you go for the sun has released its mutant monster plants and will devour your face!" He tossed her onto the couch and went into the kitchen exclaiming something about getting weapons.

"Knock it off you big lug it was just a movie!" Eddy yelled in Ed's direction before returning his attention to her again.

"I think that guy is smarter than he looks" Eddy walked over and cleared the chair next to the couch of clothes before sitting "I wouldn't have let you in if he hadn't carried you". Edden blinked and gulped before saying anything.

"Eddy your mother will be angry with this mess" Edden looked around, she saw the clothes covering the floors, his video games discs scattered and controllers everywhere. She was entirely grossed out.

"Cut the crap Edd why are you here? Shouldn't you be with your new best friend?" He growled, glaring at her. Edden was stunned at his sudden outburst she had never seen him this angry not since she told him she was leaving to LA.

"Eddy I am truly sorry if I have hurt you but I cannot just stop how I feel Kevin is my friend too. Please understand that, but he will never replace you." Just like you can never replace him but she thought she should keep that to herself.

"Eddy…." She looked at him like a deer in the headlights. Eddy couldn't resist those eyes of hers but that didn't mean he would accept Kevin he would do everything in his power to destroy her trust in him whatever the cost. For now he will tell her what she wants to hear.

"FINE! Geez but look if he even tries anything or hurts you I—"

"WILL SEND PREDETOR AFTER HIM TO SKIN HIM ALIVE!" Ed came crashing in pots covering him from head to toe a big smile on his face.

"Exactly we will skin your 'friend', that's all he is allowed to be, alive" Eddy smiled deviously at her as he walked to sit next to her "come on stay a while you can do your homework here and I ordered pizza then we can play some video games" Eddy raised his pointer finger lightly grazing it over Edd's cheek near her lips before turning away to turn on the TV. Edden didn't think anything of it. Maybe if she did things would have turned out differently.

"Sure Eddy I would enjoy that."

"FOR ALL THAT IS HOLY WHERE THE HELL IS IT?!" Kevin yelled out tossing things around in his already messy room. He hated it when he needed something and it would disappear but when he didn't need it, it would be right there in front of his face. Kevin dropped to the floor to look under his bed but only found the brand new red chucks he was deciding to wear with his outfit.

"What are ya doing my little flame?" At the sound of his mother's voice he rose only to bump his head under the bed.

"Crap!" he slid himself back and sat up to look at her "You scared me ma, I thought you were asleep?"

"Oh you poor wee lamb" she kneeled down and rubbed Kevin's bruised head "Ye I was asleep but I'm tired of lyin in bed I feel like doing something!" Kevin thought he was too old to be treated this way but it calmed him and he didn't want that peace to leave him. He smiled at her and sighed. She pulled her hand away smiling hesitantly.

"I know I know you don't like to be treated as a child that it bothers you but…" Kevin grabbed her small pale hand and smiled at her fully his eyes glowing.

"Ma nothing you do bothers me kay." He got up and kissed her cheek pulling her up in the process.

"You wanna do something for me Ma?" She nodded at him eagerly "I need help looking for a recipe for Italian Chicken Alfredo I'm…I'm cooking for Edd you remember her don't cha?" She looked at him wide eyed and looked away. He was scarred she would get upset maybe he shouldn't leave he could just pick up the homework and notes and return home.

"Are you wearing that to meet little Edden?!" Kevin was still in basketball shorts and a singlet, stunned he looked down at himself, then to his mother.

"What? No! Wait you remember her? You don't mind if I go? I can stay if you want!" Kevin couldn't stop asking questions.

"Slow down lad! First of all good you look like your 10 in that, Ye I remember her you have had a crush on her since you were kids other than Nazz and No I don't mind your Uncail is here he can keep me company" She patted his shoulder, she was small next to him she was only 5 feet and he was 6'2. Kevin saw her as this fragile porcelain doll that he had to protect since he returned, but maybe just maybe she was getting better.

"Lass is right lad you go off and have your fun I'll take care of me wee sister." Kevin didn't notice his Uncail come in, he walked over and hugged Kevin's mother fondly. She giggled as she snuggled up into his embrace.

"You guys are some ninja skills with the whole sneaking around you know that? You sure it's ok?" Kevin laughed.

"Ai Ai! Now collect your things and shower already would you!" His uncle exclaimed throwing his towel at him, Kevin didn't even notice him grab it.

"I'm getting better my little flame you saw to that. Now I want you to be normal go get this lass and go back to school we will take care of this room." Kevin felt tears sting the back of his eyes, his Uncail pulled him in for a group hug and his mother laid kisses all over him.

"You got it Ma. Thanks." He ran off to the bathroom leaving his smiling mother and Uncail to their mission.

Feeling refreshed Kevin changed into his black skinny Tripp pants almost getting tangled with the chained straps on the back and a black Bauhaus sleeveless high collar shirt. He put on his socks and headed towards his room. His jaw dropped the moment he opened the door, his room was spotless his clothes folded, hanged, or in the dirty hamper. His books organized and his mother and uncle sitting on his neatly made bed with a triumphant look on their faces.

"I'm guessing you guys found it and got bored." Still in awe he looked around the room forgetting the last time it was this clean.

"It's nothing or it would be if you kept it this way! I thought you were going in something more simple and red?" His mother inquired. Kevin opened his closet door and pulled out his knee high chucks with the multiple straps to them.

"Yea well I decided to change into my usual clothes she either likes me for me or not I'm not gunna change who I am that defeats the purpose you know." Kevin shrugged as he pulled up the zipper to his shoes.

"Very mature of you son." She clapped her hands and smiled "keeping my fingers crossed" Kevin looked back down and chuckled getting up.

"Alright I'm heading out, Uncail take care of Ma call me if you need me I'm just across the street." Kevin looked worried as he reached for his cap but decided to leave without it. His Uncail handed him the recipe and turned him towards the door.

"We aren't teenagers, now get goin or I'll throw you out!" He gave him a good pushed and earned a smack from his sister.

"All right geez later guys" With a last goodbye he headed to Edden's with a bag full of groceries and a stomach full of butterflies.

After class Edden ran as quickly as she could home to make sure everything was ready by 5:30 and almost forgot the notes and homework in class. Now she was home nearly tripping over herself as she ran around the room putting finishing touches to her outfit. She wore a white and black silk buttoned down shirt that had a lace top exposing her top half of her back and sleeves that reached her elbows. They had tiny bunny skulls shaped buttons and it was tucked into a frilly black skirt with white lace decorating the bottom, it fluffed out a bit making her white and black stripped knee high socks pop out more. She wanted to wear her creepers but decided against it since they would be inside plus she didn't want to freak Kevin out with overdressing.

She went into her cabinet and pulled out a black knitted beanie that she decorated with three The Birthday Massacre band buttons on the side of it. She had been dressing down a bit for school afraid that she would be ridiculed or mocked but after seeing everyone again she saw that she didn't need to be afraid. And if Kevin didn't accept her then so be it. It would defiantly make Eddy happy.

She checked herself on her mirror and noticed something sticking out of her top desk drawer and opened it. It was a picture sticking out, the picture had the entire cul-de-sac in it. Johnny was standing in front of plank with a peace sign as Plank stood stoic with his hands in his pocket, next to them was Rolf a small pig in his arms and a big grin on his face. Next to him was Jimmy and Sara holding hands as Nazz leaned on Sara and Kevin holding his bike up, he treasured that thing more than anything. Then there were the Ed's herself turned facing Kevin, Eddy glaring at the camera, and big Ed towering behind them. Even the Kankers were in the picture. Edden laughed and as she was about to put the picture back saw another one in the drawer, One of Kevin alone smiling wide green eyes glowing. She remembered she had made him laugh and took the picture it was right before she was about to leave and she wanted something to remember him by. In the end he betrayed Edden and she left it, she stared at it but then shook her head that was then and this is now and she still had to get ready. She put everything back quickly in its place.

She headed downstairs after putting some black cat eyed eyeliner and made sure the kitchen was clean and accessible for Kevin to use. She ran back upstairs and brought down the homework and notes and laid them on the table in his class order. She prepared some tea and cut up fruits for snacks while they waited for the meal and do their work. She was getting small serving plates when she heard the doorbell and jumped a bit. Edden stared at the door and breathed in deeply.

"Ok Edden you have got this no need to be nervous" she walked over to the door and took another deep breath before unlocking it and pulled it open.

"Hey dork" Kevin was leaning against the wall a bag by his feet and a look of anxiety that seemed to be quenched at just seeing her. "You look extremely cute today" and he looked exquisite.

"Salutations Kevin and you look quite well yourself" She fidgeted curling a hair strand on around her finger "P-please come in how rude of me".

Edden opened the door wider and stepped aside to let him in, she felt her cheeks flaming up and realized that she really liked this new Kevin. He wasn't that mean jock she thought he would be. Well he was captain of the Baseball team and top of their grade and he worked and volunteered she wondered what else he did with whatever spare time he had.

"S'all right no worries so do you want me to start with the food or the homework?" He unzipped his shoes and put them orderly near the entrance, he walked into the kitchen after Edden gave him visitor slippers and set the bag down on the counter looking up at her waiting for an answer.

"However you prefer but I suggest we do your studies first" Kevin knew she would want to go with school work first but he also knew she was probably hungry.

"Well I don't want you to starve so how bout we do both?" He began to take the items out of the bag and set them in an orderly fashion on the counter. He looked around for a cutting board and a knife.

"Both?" Edden inquired. Walking over to show him where everything was.

"Yea you read off the notes and I cook, how does that sound?" Edden looked at him impressed, walking over to take a seat at the table.

"I suppose you are an auditory learner?" she pulled out the first notes to his first class and glanced over them preparing herself to teach what she knew.

"Actually I can learn with any of the learning styles hearing, seeing, and kinesthetic doesn't really matter. So you go for it and I'll listen and cook." Kevin winked at her making Edden smile awkwardly.

"Lastly translate the proverb 'A pile of wood where the initial fire was extinguished, is easy to burn again.' to Japanese and give the meaning" By the time Kevin had finished cooking they had reached the notes for Kevin's last class. He served up the plates and cleaned the table but Edden insisted to finish before eating. He sat up straight his elbows on his thighs on his chair looking to the side.

"Yake bokkui-ni-wa hi-ga tsukiyasui it means passion of lovers stopped by fate is easy to return" Kevin looked back at her meeting her eyes, he noticed for the first time that they were quite large and clear, the blush growing on her cheeks made her eyes glow bright. Her lids lowered slightly those long thick black lashes sending shadows over her cheeks. He lowered his sight to her red full small lips, he had watched her earlier put on Chap Stick making his heart beat faster. They were slightly parted and looked soft, unconsciously he licked his lips leaning forward soundlessly. Kevin raised a hand hesitantly at first but then smoothly pushed a lose strand of hair behind her ear sliding his fingertips to her cheek. He slowly pushed his palm to her cheek gently waiting for a sign of rejection but gained a nuzzle from her instead. He took this as an invitation, Kevin used his thumb to trace her lips feeling her breath warm almost searing on his skin finally he couldn't resist anymore and-

BAM BAM BAM the slamming on the door nearly made Edden fall out of her chair and made Kevin turn towards the door. She didn't even realize she had scooted forward. She got up and walked over to the door looking through the peek hole and gasped when she saw a very disgruntled Eddy on the other side of the door. Kevin looked at her with an eyebrow raised motioning to her to come over.

"Kevin Eddy is outside! Y-you need to hide. NOW!" Edden whispered to Kevin panic plain on her face as she rushed to pick up the notes and shoved them into Kevin's hands. She then grabbed his arm and pulled him to the stairs.

"Hide in my room go!" She jumped when she heard the knocks again "ONE MOMENT EDDY I'M COOKING!"

"Move it sock head its cold out here!" She heard him kick the door.

"Why do I have to hide? We ain't doin anything wrong Edd!" Kevin whispered a little disgruntled.

"Forgive me Kevin I will explain later please just go!" She pleaded with him, Kevin stared at her and sighed running up the stairs. When she heard that he went through and shut the door she ran to the door and pulled it open.

"Salutations Eddy how may I assist you?" She was a little out of breath and her cheeks were shinning bright red.

"H-hey wow Edd what's with the getup? And do you have a fever?! Your face is all red!" Eddy reached for her forehead and she dodged it smiling. She still felt Kevin's touch on her face and she didn't want to give it up for the world.

"Eddy I'm quite alright thank you and also quite busy what does this visit pertain to?" She stood still holding the door hopping he wouldn't go in. He squinted his eyes at her and grumbled.

"Geez sock head what are you doin that's sooooo important I can't come in? What are you hiding?" Eddy pushed through and kicked off his shoes. Edden was unsure how to proceed her head as muddled.

"Eddy you can't just barge in-" she closed the door and when she turned she saw Eddy staring at the plates on the table. SHOOT Edden completely forgot the plates on the table.

"Why the hell not I'm always here with you, we are always together, what's the big deal?" He noticed the shoes by the door and then saw the extra plates on the table. Eddy wasn't an Idiot he put two and two together and it pissed him off.

"Edden wanna tell me why there are men's shoes by the door and an extra plate out on the table?" Shoot she forgot the shoes too! She didn't know what to say for the first time in her life she could not think. She couldn't move she wanted to make her body react but couldn't.

"You don't know how to cook anything but spaghetti and salads. What the hell is this Edd going behind my back?" Eddy glared at her.

"He's here ain't he? Damn it Edden Marian Vincent I DON'T WANT YOU SEEING HIM!" Eddy shouted "You really going to do this to me? You are my girl and I'm not sharing what's mine!" Edden couldn't process at all what he was saying he was acting strange stranger than normal. He was acting like she was his.

"E-Eddy what on earth are you talking about! I have done nothing wrong, simply that-" She stuttered trying to find the words. She didn't want to fight with him not while Kevin was here.

"Simply that she was helping me with my HW dork" Kevin came down holding his bag, which he came with, in his hands. He walked over to them then past them towards his shoes not looking at either of them. He slid the bag down, crouching down to sit on the floor.

"Didn't mean to step on any toes all I did was cook as a thank you while she explained the notes that's it" He zipped up his other shoe and dusted himself up placing the bag back on his shoulder.

"You know her shorty she got a favor asked by a teach, she complied, don't get all in a tizzy for no reason. Look we haven't eaten take the plate and have a nice dinner with your girlfriend." Kevin pulled the door open and stepped out, Edden right behind him letting the door close, she didn't even care she was barefoot. She reached for him grabbing his arm.

"Kevin wait it's not like that between me and Eddy he's just worried-" Kevin cut her off pulling away at her touch.

"Aaaah come on Edd it's damn obvious I just wish you would have told me that you two-" It was Edden's turn to interrupt.

"We. Are. Not. Dating!" She exclaimed "We are just friends that is all I promise you that!" Edden came closer placing a hand on his cheek, it was warm against her frozen hand. His freckles stood out small brown circles on his slightly tanned skin a large contrast to her pale skin. His green eyes dim, Eddy had hurt him what he said had hurt him and it was reflected in his eyes. Edden wanted to make his eyes shin like they always did she wanted to make the hurt stop. She stepped closer feeling the body heat from Kevin on her skin through her clothes making her breathing slightly harder. Her mind slowed and her lips ached to touch his she leaned in raising to her toes to be able to reach him and Kevin wrapped an arm around her frame pushing her completely on him. His body was hard and hot to the touch his other hand slid to her neck and he lowered brushing his lips to hers before savoring her completely. Edden squeaked before ultimately sinking into the kiss sliding her other hand to his head tangling her fingers in his hair. He tasted of chocolate mint and she felt herself sigh into him, his arms tightening around her as his lips moved with hers. She felt her breath leave her and her mind go blank, she forgot everything her shoe less feet, their dinner getting cold, the night getting late, and an angry Eddy she would have to face.
