I believe we are on Chapter 5. I want to thank you all for following and favoriting my story. In this chapter, they arrive to Rivendell of the Hidden Valley and Lily finds out who she truly is.

But when she does find out, she's afraid if the dwarves, including Thorin, will treat her different.

So here we go.

Chapter 5: Rivendell and Lily's destiny

Lily watched as Radagast was leading the orcs away from them, following the dwarves and Gandalf as they kept running from boulder to boulder; avoiding being spotted by the orcs.

"I hope Radagast knows what he's doing." Lily said to herself, kept running as she had her sword out. Of course, Lily wondered where they were going since Gandalf was leading the way. "Where is he taking us?" Lily thought, knowing that Radagast won't distract the orcs for long as she saw a orc rider looks around, the warg catching another scent other than the brown wizard.

The orc looks their way and Lily stilled. "They know we're here!"

Half of the warg pack starts to chase them, Kili shooting arrows at them to buy them time. Lily managed to deflect the arrows that were also firing back at them. One warg got close and Lily managed to knock the orc off of the Warg and the orc hissed at her and charged at her. She managed to block it's blow from it's mallet and she managed to fell from the block impact, but still blocking it's mallet until she managed to dig her sword into it's chest. It screeched in pain until it slowly went limp.

She pushed the orc corpse off of her and she sat up, then saw a hand offering her to help her stand up. She looks up to see Dwalin and she grasped his hand, letting him help her up and they continued to run and fighting off the orcs.

"Quickly! Over here!" Gandalf said, gesturing them to a opening that was in a boulder and one by one, the dwarves slid down the hole. Bilbo went before Lily and when she was about to slide down, an orc tackled her from the side and she struggled to fight it off of her. The orc roared at her, trying to stab her but she grabbed it's wrist, trying to stop the knife going to her heart. She struggled as it was slowly going down.

The orc managed to get her hand off of it's wrists and managed to dig the knife into her shoulder, which she lets yelled out in pain. Lily managed to grab it's other knife it had in it's hilt and she slit it's throat and it screeched silently before she kicked the orc off of her and she managed slid down down to the hole, crashing into a couple of the dwarves, which a few groaned a bit.

"Lily!" Bilbo rushed over to her when he saw the knife still in her shoulder and it was leaving a stream of blood that soaked through her coat and was trailing down her shoulder. "I'm fine..." Lily hissed in pain.

She managed to get the knife out of her shoulder, which she winced at the pain when she did and Gandalf managed to help her stand up. Then they heard battle from above and an Orc slid down and they immediately backed up. Thorin then saw an arrow that pierced it's chest and pulled out of the orc's corpse. "Elves...this was your plan the entire time, wasn't it?" He narrowed his eyes at Gandalf.

He didn't say anything.

"Quickly now. Let's hurry before more orcs show." Gandalf said and he lets the dwarves before them, including Lily and Bilbo and they went through the narrowed path. "Are you alright, Lily?" Gandalf asked and Lily nods, covering her shoulder wound with her hand. "It's just a scratch."

When they got through the path, Lily was amazed of the view that laid before them.

"Welcome...to the Hidden Valley. Rivendell, where Lord Elrond dwells." Gandalf said, next to Lily.

It was so beautiful to her view as the sun was setting over the white buildings. The river flow gently and the waterfalls look clear and purified from the elf touch that live in Rivendell. There were many buildings as all of them were white, resting beside the mountains that also had a canyon, the large river flowing through the village as well and Lily could hear the birds chirping, frogs croaking, and she could see an eagle perched on one the large buildings and it screeched softly.

"...it's beautiful." She whispered, smiling. Gandalf smiled as well at her. "Lord Elrond might hearing that from you."

They walked over a bridge as they enter the village, but then immediately was surrounded by armed elves and the dwarves immediately huddled up, getting ready to fight if they need to. Lily then saw one elf took off their helmet and he had gentle blue eyes, having brown hair that ran down his back. "Gandalf..."

"Lord Elrond." Gandalf smiled. Elrond dismounted from his horse and two other elves lead the horse away. "Strange, for orcs to come so close to our borders. Something, or someone, draw them near." He said, earning a sheepish look from Gandalf. "Ah...that may have been us..."

Elrond then saw Thorin and walked over to him. "Welcome Thorin, son of Thrain." Thorin raised an eyebrow at the elf lord. "I do not believe we have met." Thorin said, then Elrond looks at the others. "And what were you doing on the Great East Road?" He asked. The dwarves seemed hesitant of telling him, but Gandalf spoke for all of them. "We need your help."

Lily was waiting outside of Lord Elrond's waiting room as Gandalf, Bilbo and Thorin were talking to him about the map they couldn't read. Of course, after the meeting, Gandalf would ask Elrond of what Lily was because she doesn't know who or what she is now ever since the fiasco of the trolls.

She heard the door opened and saw Gandalf, who gestured her to come inside and she nods, following him. Her shoulder had healed, thanks to the elf healers in Rivendell and she took a deep breath, looking at Elrond. "So...Gandalf told me that something had happened when you were captured by mountain trolls, correct?" He asked and Lily nods.

"I...I don't know how it happened. When...the troll was going to eat me...I panicked and the next thing I know...two dragons were protecting me until Gandalf arrived." She said, Elrond nodding. "I see...was there a sound that being made when you were being protected?"

Lily nods again.

"Hmm...wait right here..." He went over to a book case and got out a book that had a symbol of a dragon on it and opened the book. "It seems that you have a special one here, Gandalf. Lily is an Dragon Alpha." He said, opening to a page where a man stood, who also had mismatched eyes like Lily, but his hair was white as snow and a dragon was behind him, who had scales white as snow, but had silver eyes, having a leather saddle and markings on it's forehead and arms.

"Dragon what?" Lily asked.

"Alpha...means 'leader' and you seemed to summon two...which you could have summoned more than that. The dragon alpha's are an ancient race, using dragons for good and protect the people of good from sources of evil. Many of them were wiped out and Kamon, the last dragon alpha, died in battle when orcs were taking dragons from a special cave called The Dragon Sanctuary."

Lily looks at Elrond a bit surprised. "Follow me, Lily." Elrond said and Lily nods, following the elf lord.

"...I understand that you have questions." He said and Lily nods.

"So...that man in the book...he's my...?"

"Your great-great grandfather, yes. But he has died many of years ago. But this is the first I heard of a woman chosen as alpha." he said, both of them walking down the stairs. "...wait...how can humans be chosen as alpha of dragons? Doesn't mean that there was a king before them?" Lily asked. "Yes...the alpha species of dragons are known as Bewilderbeasts; ice dragons and only a few still exists. Your great-great grandfather was dubbed by one of the ice dragons because it died trying to protect him, which he tried to protect the dragon as well from an ambush attack."

"Oh..."

He leads her to a large opening and he lets a soft whistle and she looks at him. She then heard flaps and a roar and saw the same dragon from the book, but it looks like he aged a bit and he hovered infront of them and lands. He had three nubs underneath his chin and looks at Elrond with wide pupils, but then spots Lily. This dragon was larger than what it looks.

"This...is Demon. Kamon's companion and best friend for many of ages." He steps away from them and Lily looks at the dragon nervously.

The dragon tilted his head at her, hurring in question at her. Then he walked over to her an sniffed her, getting her scent and she stood still, not wanting to anger the dragon. She then heard purring from the dragon and Demon nuzzled her cheek, smiling. She hesitated, but placed her hand on his snout and he cooed happily, purring and leaned into the touch.

She smiled, scratching under his chin and the dragon purred louder, wagging his tail.

"Well, it seemed he likes you." Elrond smiled, walking over to them and Lily smiled, still petting the white dragon, which kept purring up a storm. Demon licked her cheek, cooing and she hugged his head, which he purred louder. "I think he'll let you ride him now." Elrond said and Lily tensed a bit.

"Wait, what-"

She didn't finish when Demon scooped her up with his head until she was on his back and he took off. Lily held on, her arms around the dragon's neck as he climbed higher and higher into the sky. Demon looks back at Lily, who had her face buried into the back of his neck with fear and he slow down and flew straight, just for her safety until she took a few deep breaths and managed to look up.

They were high above between the clouds and she was amazed of it. The sunset made the clouds made them into the shade of orange-red, the sky still it's bright blue. The view was breath taking.

She managed to adjust herself on Demon as the white dragon flew smoothly across the sky. He seem to smile at Lily when he saw her expression of the view from a dragon's point of view.

"You know...I may grown to like this, Demon." She smiled.

"I knew you would, Lilian."

She stilled, then looks at Demon. "Was...was that you?" She asked, earning a nod from the large dragon. "Yes. Only the alpha of the dragons can understand our language, other than Smaug who had the ability to talk to men many ages ago. I know you've been writing dragonese for quite some time." He said and Lily realized the language now whenever she wrote in her journal.

"I am willing to be your companion, but I am afraid of the judgement of the dwarves you are accompanied to. You can summon me with the amulet that lord Elrond will grant you when we get back. And you can summon the others from the Sanctuary if need be." Demon said, craning his head to look at her.

"...was that why Gandalf wanted me to come along? He knew who I was?"

"It is possible, but unlikely. Not many of people know of the alpha race these days other than the dragons. But I believe that the destiny you are given to go with the dwarves is much higher." The white dragon said, but Lily clearly had a confused look. Demon seemed to chuckle as he dipped his wing into a cloud, making it ripple somewhat. "...but what do I have to do with this, though? I don't understand."

"...I think it is best if Gandalf and Lord Elrond told you. Because if I told you, you wouldn't take it very well." Demon said as he turned around to go back to Rivendell and dove down slightly, making Lily hold onto one of the spines that grew on his neck and back, the wind picking up as Demon tucked his wings close to his body and then flapped them once when they were near ground and lands next to Elrond and Gandalf, who were waiting for them.

"I take it your first flight went well?" Elrond asked, smiling.

"...bit scared at first...but I might like it in the future." Lily smiled, petting Demon on the side of his neck, earning a loud purr from the large dragon. Gandalf seemed to chuckled a bit, then grew serious when he saw that Lily had questions. "Demon said that...my destiny is much higher. What does he mean?"

Gandalf and Elrond look at each other before the Elf lord stood forward to her. "Lily...the dragon alphas are known to control, tame, and calm down dragons, even if they are in fury rage against other races. And can also changes the mind of other dragons." He said, Lily trying to connect of what he was saying, then she stilled, realizing where this was going.

"You mean...that...?"

"You can try and calm Smaug of his rage and convince him to leave the Lonely Mountain of Erebor."

Lily lost all colors to her face as she was pale as a ghost. Her? Taming Smaug? The one that destroyed Dale and killed many of people and made Thorin lost his homeland?

She didn't give them her answer as she fell into a world of darkness, unconscious.

She felt someone applying something cold against her head and she groaned, starting to flutter her eyes open. She was in a guest bed, still in Rivendell and she winced again of the pain on her head that she received.

"Easy now..."

She looks at the source, but was very surprised to see Thorin. "Th-Thorin?"

"You've hit your head pretty hard from what Gandalf told me." He said, taking the cold rag away from her bump on her head for now and she looks around. "H-How did I get here?"

"I carried you."

She stilled a bit, blushing somewhat. "You...?" All he did was smirked a bit. "Do not underestimate dwarves."

"...I've already done that...twice..." She said, still blushing somewhat. She tried to sit up, which she struggled a bit and Thorin helps her sit up. She then realized what Elrond told her and she took a deep breath. "...Elrond told me what I was told to do...as alpha..." She said, making Thorin look at her.

"...he said that I can calm and convince Smaug to leave the Mountain."

Thorin didn't answer to what she said, also trying to take this all in. Of course, he was interrupted in thought when Lily breathed in a shaky breath. "...Thorin, what if I can't do it? What if I just anger Smaug even more and he destroys more of the lands of Middle Earth? I don't want to be the reason of more deaths of people." She squeezed her eyes shut, a tear ran down her cheek.

"Lily, look at me."

She looks at him, her eyes were shone with tears that threatened to fall. "It will not be your fault. If you cannot persuade Smaug to leave the Mountain, we will think of something else to make him leave."

"But-"

She was cut off when Thorin grabbed one of her hands and gave it a gentle squeeze and she looks at him. "We will think of something, understand? Even if it means if I have to force the dragon out of the mountain, we will reclaim Erebor and it's treasure." He said and she looks at him, mismatched eyes looking at blue eyes. Of course, Thorin was a bit thrown back when Lily wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging him.

"...just don't do anything that will cost your life...your people need you, Thorin." Lily whispered. He looks at her, unsure of what to do. Awkwardly as it was, he hugged her back with one arm. Lily seemed to smile a bit at Thorin. "As awkward as it is, he's trying really hard." Lily thought. She soon pulled away when she felt Thorin's arm that was hugging her stiffed a bit.

"Did Elrond decipher the moon runes on the map?" Lily asked.

"Almost...he said that he'll have an answer for us tonight." He said and Lily nods. "How is your head? Any more aches?" He asked, looking at her and she shook her head. "I'm fine for now."

"Good. Because I will be showing you more sword techniques than what you already know later." He said and Lily looks at him confused when he was about to leave the room.

"What was wrong the way I fight?" She asked, somewhat offended a bit. "Nothing. You know the basics, but you need to know more than just basic sword techniques. They won't work on orcs every time, or worse things that we might encounter on our journey. I will meet you outside when you are ready." And with that, he left. Lily was confused of what just happened.

He was really going to teach her how to fight with more sword techniques?

"Something tells me this won't end well..." She thought, cringing when she thought about the training.

The training wasn't too bad.

Luckily, Thorin had two wooden poles for them so that way, Lily won't cause serious injuries to both of them. But the advance sword moves that Thorin showed her was tougher than what it appeared to be, but after a few times, she would get it.

"Now...I want you to come at me. Show me what you have learned." He said, holding the pole with one hand as Lily held the pole with both hands, standing in a stance that Thorin had taught her before they even start the training. She took the first swing, using one hand and Thorin blocked it. "If I was an orc right now, I would have laugh at you. Don't hold back or your enemy will get the better of you." Thorin said, swinging his pole and Lily managed to block it in time with hers.

He kept swinging at her and she blocks every time he swung at her. She managed to whack his arm with her pole when she saw her opportunity when he let his guard down when he tried to get her from the side. "Good. Again."

Lily charged again.

Of course, when Lily had an opening, Thorin managed to trip her and pointed the pole at her neck and she looks at him. "Never leave an opening for your enemy." He said, taking the pole away from her neck and held his hand out for her to grasp and he helps her up.

"You're improving." He said and she looks at him, still trying to catch her breath from the hours of training of sword techniques. "Usually, people would have dropped an hour ago, but you kept going."

"Who...usually...drops out?" Lily asked, still trying to catch her breath.

"Kili and Fili."

"Ah."

He nods and sat down and she sat down next to him, still catching her breath. And it was a peaceful quiet moment for awhile to the both of them.

"...Kili and Fili were scared of me at first when I first met them." Thorin suddenly said and she looks at him. "Din is my sister and she introduced me to Kili and Fili. They were too nervous to go near me and a few days later, they tackled me like I was the dragon." He said and Lily giggled a bit. "If it makes you feel better, I was scared to death of my dad for days until I managed to open up my heart to him." Lily said, smiling a bit and Thorin looks at her.

"...your father, Bilbo...how did he found you?" Thorin suddenly asked. She looks at him, somewhat bit surprised. "I thought that Gandalf told you." She said, but he shook his head.

Lily tried to remember. "...I remember my parents a bit...but my memory is still fuzzy. I lost them when orcs attacked my home...they...burnt down the house and my...my parents were in there." He looks at her as she took a deep breath. "...so the only thing I could do is run...run the farthest I could and...I somehow ran so far that I got to the Shire...and that's where my dad found me. He took me in and raised me. He was afraid at first...how the others would treat me since I was never a Hobbit..."

He looks at her. "...what made them think differently?"

"Well...I've always had a soft spot for animals. I've always helped the other hobbits care for their animals and I soon gain the hobbit's respect in Hobbiton and the Shire." Lily shrugged, smiling a bit. She then looks at him, still smiling.

"Yeah, I was also afraid of how the Hobbits would treat me since I was never one of them, but I always kept my head up and let nothing tell me who I am because it's everyone is best at; being them."

He seemed to smile and Lily smiled back.

"Lily. Thorin."

They both look to see Gandalf. "Lord Elrond has decipher the moon runes."

They were at a mouth of a cave that was right by one of Rivendell's waterfalls as Elrond placed the map on the pedestal that held the power of the moon that shone down at them and the moon runes glowed on the map.

"Stand by the grey stone when the thrush knocks. And the setting sun, with the last light of Durin's day will shine upon the keyhole." Lord Elrond said and Lily looks at Thorin.

"We have to be standing in exactly the right spot, at the right time. Then, and only then, can the door open." Balin said, looking at the others. Elrond looks at Thorin. "There are some who would not deem it wise." He said as Thorin took back the map.

It was a bit later when Lily was packing up her things when Dwalin told her that they were leaving now because Durin's day was two weeks away and they need to leave now. She then noticed how a staff was there that she never noticed it before until now. It had a curve at both ends and four holes were in each end on it's side and it made a bit of a sound when Lily picked it up. It also had red and green sashes around it and she saw a note beside it.

Let this staff serve you well.

It was given to your grandfather and had the same power to give dragon commands. The commands will come to you and the staff will know what to do.

-Lord Elrond.

Lily seemed to smile a bit and placed the staff on her back and tied the sash that it had on around her shoulder so it would stay at her side and back and she walked out of the guest bedroom and she met up with the other dwarves, but she was a bit surprised when she didn't saw Gandalf.

"Where's Gandalf?" She asked.

"We need to leave now. We cannot wait any longer because Durin's day is coming and we need to get to Erebor before the last light of Durin's day." Thorin said as he starts up the mountain trail they need to take and the other dwarves followed. She looks back at Rivendell and she saw Demon perched on one of the buildings and he roared at her, telling her good-bye in dragon tongue and she waved back at him.

"May we meet again, Demon."

She starts to follow the dwarves up the mountain trail. "...and I hopefully Gandalf knows about this soon if we're in trouble..." She thought.

And they continued on, Durin's day among them and Lily's destiny coming to convince the fire wyrm Smaug to leave the Mountain.

This may be the longest chapter I did, but it might be longer chapters after this one.

The next chapter have two things that Lily, Bilbo and the dwarves will face. A large thunderstorm battle and an army that have something against light and the weapon that Thorin carries where he got from the cave (Which I forgot to mention in that other chapter, which I apologize) and Lily will try to do something pretty stupid that will cost her life, but probably not.

Until then,
