Chapter 14 is here!
From the last chapter, Lily learned something horrible from the past and she is taking it hard.
What will it take to make Lily smile once more?
Well, you have to find out in this chapter, my hatchlings. Oh, and I am doing something for this chapter. I know that I said that I would add some of the dragons from HTTYD saga, but I am thinking and considering on adding the dragons from Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. Thanks to some of the research I found, I think it will work out.
Chapter 14: Thaw the Heart.
When Bilbo came to check on Lily, he could see Smaug pacing back and forth by the window, roaring sadly and worriedly, trying to get inside, but the door to her room was locked. Smaug scratched at the door, sniffing underneath the cracks of the door, then started to pace back and forth by the door.
Bilbo sighed sadly.
It's been nearly a week since Lily had learned the truth of what her parents did to her. She haven't eaten for days and she hasn't come out of her room either, not really talking to anyone. Not even to Thorin. They were running out of options on what to do. Smaug looks at the door, then had an idea, running out of the castle, clearly leaving everyone confused.
Lily was laying on her bed, her eyes half open and barely have the spark she had anymore. Her hair was scattered from the back of her head across the pillow. The only thing that could only be heard was her occasional sniffs and shaky inhales and exhales from her breaths.
Bilbo walks in and sat on the edge of the bed, then stroked her hair while smiling sadly. "Hey, sweetie...you know...Smaug has been waiting on the itch to fly...he refuses to go out without you. Why don't you go out and get some fresh air?"
Lily slightly looks at him then sighs. Smaug tilted his head, growling softly while slowly walking up to her. Lily slowly held her hand out and Smaug closed his eyes, pressing his snout against the palm of her hand, purring softly. "...I guess..." Smaug stood next to the bed and Lily slowly got on his back and he flew out of the window. Lily tried to smile, really she did...
...but her heart still ached.
It was next day as Lily was still on her bed, looking at a book that took a somewhat interest in her but she really didn't bother reading it.
There was a tap on the window.
"Go away..." She sighed, not wanting to see anyone.
"Dovah Queen. I highly suggest that you reconsider that option..." A voice said, and it was a voice that she did not recognize. She looks at the window, which she had curtains closed on the window for privacy, but there was a large shadow looming by it. She slowly got up, nervous as she slowly went over to it.
"Do not be afraid of me, Dovah Queen. I am..an 'ally' as they say, to your Fire Drake." The voice said gently and when she opened the curtain, she was greeted by a dragon she has never seen before. The scales were red as the blood, but the underneath of his belly was a sandy, pale yellowish white, the scales on the large dragon loose and some chipped due to age. The wings also aged as well with some shriveled parts and holes within it's wings, but the blackish red eyes looking down at Lily, which she was nervous of the dragon.
"My name is Odahviing. Do not be afraid of me, Dovah Queen. With your permission, may I speak to you inside because it seems that I am causing a havoc near the town below from my presence alone." The large dragon asked and Lily nods, moving away for him to let him inside, which he perched while using magic to turn smaller so that he could fit inside of her room. He then turns around, staring at her.
"So...you are the newest Dovah Queen that is chosen, to rule us Dovahs? You have one of your grandfather's eye of crimson the last time I have seen him. In all of my years, never have I seen eyes of both Yol and Iiz." Odahviing said and Lily looks at him very confused and the old dragon seemed to chuckle. "You do not know the words of our kind? Well, you are young and still learning. Dovah is 'Dragon' in our tongue, but no one calls us those names anymore. Yol is 'Fire', the ancient attack that us fire dovahs use and finally, Iiz means 'Frost', some use that technique to slow the enemy down. This is dragonese, the ancient tongue of the dovahs. We only speak in dragon tongue, but not many know the ancient dragon tongue no more."
"...no offense, Odahviing...but why are you here?" She asked, not really in the mood to talk to anyone. He seemed to picked up her sorrow in her and growled softly and yet sadly.
"Smaug, the Fire Drake of the North, informed me of the event that has foretold. I am sorry of has happened, Dovah Queen. If there was any power that I would possess within me to erase time, I would done it in a heart beat. But there is a reason why I am here. None of the other dragons in the South has not met you. You have seen Vordoom, the ice dragon that is in second in command of your Sanctuary and I do believe it is time, that you have met our eldest one of the Dovahs, Paarthurnax."
"...he...wants to meet me?"
The large dragon nods. "Yes...for many of years, he has waited to meet the newest alpha of the dragons, but he could not have meet you because you were young of age and did not know your destiny. But now that you have fully grown, your place as Dovah Queen, ALPHA of the ancient races among the ancient creatures , it is time." Odahviing replied, looking at her while she looks at the window outside. The birds were chirping outside and Lily sighs deeply. She wants to say now...but if this dragon was waiting to meet her, then...
...it couldn't hurt to see him in person.
"...can you take me to him?" She asked, looking at the dragon, which seemed to smirk, but it was a soft smirk. "Pruzah-Good. Climb aboard and I will carry you to Paarthurnax." The dragon said, lowering his neck for her to let her climb aboard. Lily didn't want to at first, but she didn't want to keep the other dragon waiting so she managed to climb onto the dragon's neck, holding onto the dragon's horns.
Odahviing raised his head up, walking towards the window. He spread his wings, letting out a very large roar before taking off into the sky. Lily held on, the blast of the winds strong against her when the large dragon flew into the sky, roaring loudly to announce his presence in the sky if any other creature came across them.
Lily looks back towards Erebor.
She could see Smaug looking up at her, roaring softly. Lily smiled sadly, waving at him. Lily looks back at the dragon that was carrying her. "What about Thorin, and my dad?" Lily asked, making the dragon looking back at her slightly. "The Fire Drake of the North, Smaug, has explained to your father and the Erebor King of what is happening. They can not come due to the fact of secrecy of the Dovahs. It is the rules of the ancient races." The dragon said, flying higher and higher into the sky until they were above the clouds.
Lily looks at the grounds below while riding on the dragon's back, seeing the world passing by them.
"Do not fret, Dovah Queen. Once you have meet Paarthurnax, he will explain all that is needed to be explained." The dragon said and Lily could feel the temperature dropping down a tad, snow falling out from the sky. That's when she noticed an ancient grounds ahead of them and she looks at the sight.
Many of the dragon skeletons were among the ground, not a single animal in sight to see seen or heard. The grass, however, was a rich emerald green while the snow touches the ground, but does not disturb it's beauty of nature, even the water remains untouched from the cold weathers. The sun was peaking through the mists of snow while the dragon starts to hover above the land.
"Welcome, Dovah Queen, to Dovahsos Solitude, the ancient lands of the Dragon blood where the ancient Dovahs live." Odahviing announced proudly in his dragon tongue, hovering and then lands. He then starts to walk towards the ancient grounds, Lily still upon his back and she could see the other dragons seeing her arrival, roaring and saying words in ancient tongue she still has yet to understand.
Then, there was a mighty roar that was far more louder than any other dragon she has heard as a pale yellowish white dragon hovers and lands, the scales aged much more than the other dragons that surrounds them. His yellow eyes were gentle and yet strong, having the fire within it as many other dragons did.
"Drem Yol Lok. Greetings, young Dovah Queen. I am Paarthurnax." The eldest dragon said, even as a dragon, his voice was gentle like thunder roaming far from their destination and was comforting. As if she heard his voice before while the red dragon lets her off of his back and she bowed before the eldest dragon, showing respect among them.
Paarthurnax chuckled. "Do not bow before me, Dovah Queen. If memory serves me correctly, it is should be I, who should be bowing to you since you are Alpha of the Dovahs." The dragon said and Lily looks up at him, standing while many of the ancient dragons that live in the solitude looks at her, some murmuring on how young she looks as an alpha, or speaking of being the first female to be chosen.
"Tell me, why have you come to our Solitude, our mountain?" Paarthurnax spoke gently, looking at Lily as she silently flinched on remembering why she was here. "...well...Paarthurnax...it's...it's complicating; even for me. I've...I've found out that my parents...they tried to kill me...all because that they think it is my fault that my older brother died. And Odahviing said that you have information that I need to hear." She said.
"Drem. Patience. There are formalities that must be observed, at the first meeting of two of the Dovs." He said, Lily getting somewhat nervous of the dragons looking at her, one curious enough to sniff her to get her scent. Lily lets the large blue ice dragon sniff her, hearing the sniffs through its large nostrils. The large dragon seems to be enjoying at what it was doing since Lily could hear the large dragon now purring, pressing it's snout against her cheek.
"I like this one, Paarthurnax. She smells like flowers and chocolate cocoa beans." The large dragon purred, smiling. Lily looks at the dragons. "...cocoa beans? What is that?"
"They are beans that grow over in this lands, but if melted right, they become a rich melted liquid that is sweet tasty snack." Another dragon said, who Lily think is in second in command of the Dovahsos Solitude. Paarthurnax looks at the dragon that spoke. "Lilian, I would like you to meet Mimulnir, our second in command of the Sanctuary." That made Lily somewhat stilled a bit.
"How did you know my name is Lily?" She asked, making the old dragon chuckled. "Many of things can surprise you when you are a Dovah. We are the ancient race of middle earth; powerful beings that walk the grounds of earth and fly in the sky of air, snow and rain and to protect those who need. That is the way of our race unlike most people thinking us as savages; taking things as we like and kill all around us. It is true that we have things that are in our nature that we can not control, it is in our blood." Lily was listening to the ancient dragon's story of the dragons.
Odahviing looks at the dragon eldest. "My lord, there is something amiss within Middle Earth."
"Hmm. Yes...I would like you to take Vulthuryol and Durnehviir with you to look out in the West, see what you can find." The dragon nods and three dragons took off, making Lily cover her eyes with her arm when the large gusts of wind went around her and she nearly fell to the ground, but Mimulnir kept her balanced, placing his snout against her back when she nearly fell over.
"Lilian. Would you care to take a stroll with me? There are things that you have to learn." Paarthurnax asked and Lily nods and the eldest dragon starts to walk, Lily having a hand on the side of the dragon's neck as she walks with him around the Solitude. The scales were somewhat soft and yet hard at the same time and she smiled, stroking the elder dragon's scaly body. She then smiled wider when she heard the dragon purring.
"Paarthurnax, aren't you worried that one day that someone will discover the Solitude and the other ancient dragons?" Lily asked, knowing that some people are willing to try and find the dragons. "Yes, it has come to our minds, which is why we are finding spells for us to use to create a barrier. So that if those do come, they will simply walk through an alternate spell universe instead of discovering our Solitude." He said and Lily nods. Lily then noticed a large mountain in front of them and Lily was amazed of how high it is.
She then saw the elder dragon lower his neck. "Climb aboard, Lilian." He said, looking at her. She seemed to hesitate, but the dragon was patient with her; allowing her to take her time. What it seemed to be minutes, she sits on his neck, holding onto the horns on his head. He expanded his wings and hovered above the ground before climbing higher and higher into the sky.
Paarthurnax lets out a roar, which Lily was surprised of the elder dragon. He seemed to be old, but his roar said otherwise. They reached up to the top of the mountain, which she could see a cave. She must assume that he lives in the cave as he lands in front of it and walks inside, Lily still on the dragon still and he looks around, sighing deeply through his nostrils.
"Is something wrong?" Lily asked, sensing sorrow in the dragon.
"It is something that has happened many of years ago. I use to have a soul mate. She was a beautiful Dovah." Lily saw the smile of the dragon, which she could tell that he was lost in memories.
"...what happened to her?" Lily asked. He then saw his head low in grief, his eyes filled with sorry as one stray tear ran down his scaly cheek. "...she was killed. By orcs and by Azog the Defiler...I was forced to watch my soul mate die in front of me, including my hatchling." His head was still low in grief, Lily getting off of him.
The elder dragon felt arms around his head and he opened one eye to look at her, seeing her trying to hug him. "...I'm so sorry that you lost your child and mate, Paarthurnax." She whispered, tightening the hug slightly and the old dragon smiled sadly, purring. "Do not grieve on my lost, young one. It has happened many of years ago. But I do appreciate of you trying to comfort me. Now I see why many of the dragons look up to you." He said, still purring.
"My lord."
Paarthurnax turns around to see a dragon hovering outside of his cave. "It is Alduin. He has been captured and taken to Mordor. I could not get close due to the archers of the dark realm." A dragon said and she could hear the dragon murmur something underneath his breath. Lily looks at him. "I am sorry, Dovah Queen. Something has come to my attention. One of our dragon elders, Alduin, has been captured into the dark realms of Middle Earth, Mordor." The dragon said and Lily winced at the word.
"...can I help?" She asked.
"I am sorry, Dovah Queen. This is a task that you can not participate in. Alduin does not take kindly to joores...mortals. He will not take word to any one other than myself." And with that, the dragon took off with the other.
Lily sighs sadly, then looks out at the horizon, seeing many of the lands of middle earth. Including the dark realm, Mordor.
She has to help.
As Alpha.
She transforms into a dragon and took off into the sky, flying towards the dark realm of where legions of orcs take heed.
The realm of Mordor was nothing but a dead wasteland, no life sources were seen all around other than orcs that were either chatting by the fire or on patrol. Lily looks around, making sure that no orc see her. She try to see if she could find any source of the dragon, Alduin, but she saw no source of the large dragon.
"Where are you, Alduin?" Lily thought, running from boulder to boulder so that no orc could see her. That's when she heard shouts from the distance over some boulders.
"MEYYE! Zu'un hin daan! Zu'un Alduin! Zok sahrot do naan ko Lein! (1)" A shout was heard and Lily could see orcs fleeing in terror when a jet stream of flames came out of a tower. Lily winced when she saw one orc come out of the building, ignited in flames while screaming in agony and pain until it finally dropped to the ground, now dead from the flames of the dragon. The angry roars still being heard, including wings flapping and claws digging into the ground.
"That must be where Alduin is held at." Lily thought.
"Hin dinok fen kos nahloft fod zu'un ag ahrk evaneer pah ogiims! (2)" Alduin shouted in rage and hatred, releasing yet another jet stream of flames. Lily was now nervous of how to calm down the dragon without getting burned in the process. As the orcs were running away, everything was silence except for the angry growls from the dragon and Lily walks quietly over to the building and looks through one of the barred windows.
It was a black dragon, black as the night sky, but eyes red as blood and fire itself. He was built muscular for a dragon, muscles spamming every so often due to his rage against the orcs and she could hear the deep growls in the dragon's voice. He was chained by his neck and feet, his tail bounded from many of ropes so that it wouldn't pierce any orcs.
His red eyes then darted over where Lily was hiding.
"WHO are you, meyye!? Here to face your death!?" Alduin shouted, seeing Lily and she winced and without anyone seeing her, she steps inside of the cave. "Don't worry...I'm a friend of Paarthurnax. I've come to free you."
"NOKS! No one knows my brother other than the dovahs! How do I know that you are not a tahrodiis joore- a treachoroush fool!?" Alduin shouted and Lily winced a bit at the loud voice but she stood her ground against the large black dragon. She placed her hand on the dragon's snout, not pulling away when the dragon growled louder, smoke coming out of his nostrils.
"...My name is Lily. Dragoness Alpha of Middle Earth." She spoke in dragon tongue and he looks at her, stop growling and he ease up his guard for now. He looks at her, his nostrils flaring as he caught her scent. "...how did you fly here? You are too young as alpha to transform and yet, you fly this far?" He asked and Lily nods, knowing what he meant.
"I had to learn on my way when I had to help Thorin Oakenshield reclaim his homeland, Erebor, from the fire dragon, Smaug." She said and the large black dragon looks at her, still breathing heavily due to fact that he was raging and was firing up all the orcs that came near him. "What would you say that I can free you and we can both leave Mordor?"
That made the large dragon growled angrily.
"Even if we did escape, I will not let a joore ride upon my back! It is an dukaan-a dishonor to us ancient dovahs and I will not let it tear up my kaan- my honor." Alduin growled, knowing what the girl was thinking about. He will let NO ONE ride upon his back unlike his brothers who allow themselves to be ridden by filthy mortals. She sighs, but smiled sadly-
An arrow went straight through her arm and she shouted out in pain. Orcs had spotted her.
"Dammit!" She thought, then went to cut the ropes that bounded Alduin's tail and then Alduin used his tail to smack at the chains that were binding his feet and he rose up, the chain holding his neck broke loose and he roared loudly, spreading his wings in the process that destroyed the building that was holding him captive. He lets out another mighty roar, making Lily cover her ears since the roar was ear-pearcing.
He then lets out a jet stream of flames before taking off into the sky, making Lily transform as well and fly off after him-
Arrows shot through her wings.
She lets out a loud roar of pain, falling to the ground and crashed, leaving a ditch of dirt trail behind her when she crashed. Ropes started to bind her down and she roared out, trying to free herself, but then was hit square in her jaw and her head lands down with a thud, some blood trickling her mouth as one orc, which she was assume was a captain and pressed his foot against her snout, making her growl threateningly at it.
"You will pay for releasing our grand prize, dragon." It spoke in orc tongue. Lily kept growling, smoke coming out of her nostrils. "Take her to the Frost Room. Let's see if she has that attitude once she feels the cold temperature of the snow beasts we slayed and use their ice sparks." The orcs smirked as she was being dragged away.
She saw a steel door and she could see frost coming out from it and when they opened the chamber, she felt a blast of ice cold air going through her and she shivered and the next thing she knew, she was threw down into the cellar and it closed. Lily found herself shivering.
She couldn't stand the cold in this form.
And if she transformed back, it could be worse.
Lily shivered, curling up as the cold wings went through her skin and bones and she whimpered. This wasn't a good situation for her and if she doesn't figure something out soon, she will freeze herself to death or worse on what those orcs will do to her.
She didn't know how long she stayed down there, now totally numbed from the cold as she could feel nothing due to the freezing temperatures. She then heard the door open and saw an orc smirking at her. "I see that you are finding your 'room' satisfying?" It asked and Lily narrowed her eyes in response, not giving the wretch an answer.
Lily then felt herself slammed to the wall, a hand on her throat as the orc glared at her. "ANSWER ME WHEN I TALK TO YOU!" It roared and Lily still didn't say anything. Just when the orc was about to say something else, it then had a thought to it and lily immediately tensed when she felt it's other hand on her waist. "...you know, you're too pretty to die like this...so what do you say...we have fun before you meet your doom?" It asked and Lily's body locked up entirely out of shock and horror and tried to scramble away with the strength she had left.
"No...no...d-don't...don't..." She whispered hoarsely when she felt it kissing against her neck and she winced in disgust, still trying to kick away. "Th-Thorin...Thorin...h-h-h-help..." She whispered, feeling tears roll down as she feels no more strength in her to fight. She didn't want to die this way. Being used as fun by an orc and then freeze to death.
She felt the hand go down lower and lower to where her pants were at and she tried to weakly kick it away. Her head got slammed once more into the wall, the orc growling. It then ripped off the part of her shirt and she winced again, the cold hitting her bare skin and the orc went to what it was doing to her-
The orc suddenly stops.
Lily was gasping as she saw an ax pierced by the back of it's skull and it immediately drops her to the ground and it's body drops; now dead. Lily looks over at the source and she sobbed in relief on who it was.
Thorin drops his other weapon, which was covered in orc's blood as well and rushed over to Lily, hugging her tightly around her shoulders. "Mahal, Lily don't scare me like that again! What were you thinking, going out to the dark realm like that!? You could have been killed if I didn't show up! This is why I don't let you do things on your own; you don't think before going into action!" He shouted and when he was about to shout at her idiotic decisions more, he then saw Lily was still shivering, but it wasn't from the cold dropping temperatures.
"Lily?"
She didn't look at him still and he cupped under her chin to make her look at her gently. Her eyes were shone with tears, which were streaming down her cheeks. She kept shivering as she hugged her arms like she was shielding herself. "Th-Thorin...it..."
"Lily, tell me what happened?" He asked, now getting concern.
"Th-That orc...it...it tried to...it tried to..." Sh then started to sob at the event that nearly happened and she could feel Thorin tensed in realization. "Lily..." He then hugged her tightly and she sobbed hard into his shoulder, clinging to the front of his shirt. He hushed her, whispering sweet nonsense into her ear as she kept sobbing into his shoulder.
He then felt her shiver even more and it dawned on him about the room still in very cold temperatures. He took off his fur cloak and placed it around Lily's shoulders and hugged her once more, trying to warm her up. "Let's get you out of here." He whispered, picking her up and she clings to him, still shivering. He walks out of the chamber and she could see Smaug looking at her, hurring.
She smiled weakly at him, then another wave of shiver course through her body. Thorin tighten his grip around her and Smaug lowered himself, grumbling a bit under his breath of how the dwarf convince him to take him to Mordor when Alduin told him that Lily was captured when she tried to free him. When the dwarf and the dragoness alpha was on, he flapped his powerful wings and took off into the sky, the mere arrows shooting at him doing no damage to his armored skin.
Lily struggled to keep her eyes open, still shivering. But it was hard for her, her head leaning against Thorin's shoulder. He just tighten his grip around her as Lily soon was succumbed to a world of darkness
00~00
Lily winced when she felt something shifted next to her and she tensed, thinking that it was the orc again and weakly try to push away from the source-
"Lily...it's me..."
Lily fluttered her eyes open to see Thorin looking at her, one arm around her shoulder while his other arm was under his head, looking at her with a concern look. She looks at him and he sighs, but smiled sadly as he stroked her cheek, brushing a tear away that Lily didn't know that she shed until now. "...you're safe in Erebor now." He whispered.
He wasn't surprise when she scooted closer to him, her forehead pressed against his bare chest and he sighs softly, pulling her closer with one arm around her shoulder. He felt her shivering, but was probably from the side effect from the cold room she was in. He pressed a kiss against her eyelid and she sniffed, looking up at him.
He then kissed her other eyelid and she leaned closer to the dwarf king, which he kissed her nose, then her forehead, her left cheek, then he looks at her. She sighs deeply, scooting closer to him and he sighs deeply, closing his eyes for a brief moment.
"...Thorin?"
"Hmm?"
"...I'm...I'm sorry...that I worried you..."
He squeeze her shoulder gently, but being mindful on her injury. "Don't be...I know you try to prove yourself...but please...think your actions before you perform them. I don't want another repeat of Kili and Fili with their incidents." He said, earning a slight giggle from Lily, which he smiled a bit at that. He was getting his old Lily back.
"Get some sleep, Lily." He yawned, closing his eyes once more.
"Thorin..." Lily whined and he cracked one eye to look at her and he chuckled, seeing her giving him a pouty look. "Lily, you know that look doesn't work on me." He chuckled tiredly and she nudged under his chin with her nose. "But Thorin...how am I suppose to make you smile more? I like it when you smile more, you're not...always tense when you smile."
He kissed her forehead and he closed his eyes and Lily huffed a bit in annoyance and he smirked just a tad, squeezing her gently around the waist when she turned over, her back against his chest. He kissed her neck and he smirked once more when Lily tensed up, since it was mostly from surprise and was caught off guard. "Thorin, you're not playing fair." She whined.
"Who says that I do?" He chuckled, kissing her neck once more and she gave him a grumpy and yet pouty look. He smiled and pressed his lips against hers and she smiled, kissing him back while placing her hands on his shoulders. Of course, the incidents of today's events were coming back to her mind and she suddenly pulled away from him.
"Lily?" Thorin asked, propping himself up with his elbow when she buried herself underneath the blankets, shaking. "I-I'm sorry...it's...it's jut that...I...I was nearly...the orc, it-"
He gathered her in his arms, hushing her and she curled up against him, sobbing silently as her shoulders shake with each sob she choked. He just rubbed her shoulders gently, pressing a kiss against the top of her head. He looks at her when she stops sobbing. "...'m sorry..." She whispered, her head still resting against his chest, which he could feel some of her tears landing against his bare chest.
"Don't be..." He kissed her head once more.
She looks up at him and he kissed her softly, which she kissed him back, a tear ran down her cheek. He brushed a few strands of hair away from her eyes and he lays down, wrapping one arm around her waist when she scooted closer. "Get some sleep...we'll talk more in the morning." He said, seeing Lily yawn and snuggled close to Thorin and he too closed his eyes.
It was near dawn of a new day, the sun not risen yet across the lands.
Lily sighs deeply, scooting closer to Thorin in her sleep, which he tighten his grip on her in his sleep as well.
"...ilian...Lilian..."
Lily starts to flutter her eyes open, half awake when she heard the voice and she could hear flaps outside of the room and she looks at the window. She could see a shadow looming outside of the window. She slowly got out of Thorin's grasp, giving him a kiss on the cheek before going over to the window. She opens the curtains to see Odahviing hovering outside of the window and she smiled. "Greetings, Odahviing." She smiled and the dragon nods at her. "Paarthurnax requests your presence." He said and Lily nods.
He came closer to Lily and she managed to climb onto his back and he starts to fly over to the South. Lily looks back over at Erebor and sighs. "I'll be back soon, Thorin. I promise." Lily thought, the large dragon flying higher and higher until they were above the clouds. The cool breeze flowed through her hair and she breathed it in, her eyes closed while a small smile was upon her face.
Odahviing thought of the same thing, closing his eyes and purred in bliss. She slowly starts to pets his scaly neck and he purred louder at that, a smile on his face. She chuckled a bit, scratching just behind his horn and he leaned into the touch, flying to their destination until the Dovahnos Solitude came to view.
He hovered before landing and Lily looks around, trying to see if she could find Paarthurnax, but there was no sign of the ancient dragon anywhere. "He is near the Draco's Sanctum, our praying sanctuary. It is just a few minute walk from here. This is where I depart for now. I still must continue my search." Odahviing announced when Lily got off his back and Lily smiled, stroking his snout.
"Thank you."
"Until next time, Dovah Queen." He then hovered and took off into the sky. Lily looks over to the trail and starts to walk over to it, admiring each of the plant life around her that still grow, even when the snow was still falling down from the sky and lands on the ground. Even the sun made the plant's life presence more beautiful and admirable.
After many of minutes of walking, she came across what appears to be Draco's Sanctum. What stands in front of her was the largest statue of a dragon, which stood proudly on the pedestal, the eyes shown of the purest white diamond she seen. Many of the flowers surrounded the statue and she could see Paarthurnax looking at the statue and Lily walks over to him, standing next to him while looking at the statue.
"...Draconis Advanliin was the leader and the first dovah to discover this Solitude. He has sacrificed himself to save this Solitude from the clutches of the dark lord, Sauron. So from his sacrifice, we have made a statue so that every dovah knows the story of his many victories and sacrifices he made. The stones are made of moonstones, which are very difficult to find in Middle Earth and the eyes are purity stones, the brightest stones of all times."
Lily looks over at him, having a hand on the ancient dragon's neck as he looks at the dragon statue and then he looks over at her. "I have summoned you here because of the actions you took upon yourself." He said, turning around to face her and she then winced a bit, knowing what he wanted.
"I have told you that it was too dangerous for you to go to Mordor. We would have freed our brother Alduin from the orcs. But it seems that you have taken it upon yourself, which was reckless of you to do. If my messenger did not inform me of this or to Thorin Oakenshield of Erebor, you would have been killed there."
Lily had her head low in shame. It was true of what he said.
If it wasn't for Thorin, then she would have not been here today.
"...however...you did rescue Alduin and he has flown to safety and he was the one that informed me that you were still trapped in the dark realm. So I let one of the messenger dragons tell Thorin the situation and the Fire Drake brought him to get you back from the dark realm. Which you have my gratitude of saving Alduin."
She looks up at him as he leaned forward, pressing his snout against her cheek and she could hear the silent purrs from the dragon. She smiled sheepishly, a small blush on her face. He then sensed something in her and looks at her with concern.
"Something is troubling you."
She looks up at him and she then looks down in shame, shaking somewhat. "Well...it's...it's that...an orc...it...it tried to..." She hugged her shoulders, feeling herself shiver, but not from the temperature because it was surprisingly warm. He then closed his eyes sadly and he pressed his snout against her shoulder, purring softly and he lets her hug his head.
He could feel the tears land on his scales and he purred a bit louder, curling his tail around her as he kept purring for the dovah queen. "...you-you were right..." He looks at her, not pausing from his purring.
"If...if Thorin didn't show up, then...then the orc would...he would have...had his way...with me...then...he...he would have...killed me..." Lily then started to sob into his scales, hugging the dragon's head the best she could. He sighs deeply, purring louder for her. He wanted to make her feel better, but not in this form-
Lily kept hugging Paarthurnax's head, still sobbing, not noticing that he was changing form.
Lily then stilled whens he felt a hand on her shoulder. When she looks up, she saw a man, but he was aged as some wrinkles was upon his face, but he was still built muscular, the white hair reaching down to his lower neck and his gentle grey blue eyes staring down at her and he smiled sadly at her. He was wearing light armor and a pure white cloak. Lily looks at the man with wide eyes.
"...PAARTHURNAX?"
He smiled sadly and nods. Lily wanted to say something, but she couldn't and she hugs him once more, which he returned it, a gentle hand on the back of her head as she sobs into his chest. He sighs deeply and sadly, tightening the hug while he lets the poor dragoness alpha cry of what almost endure. He rest his chin on the top of her head, sighing deeply while stroking Lily's silky black hair.
"...don't cry..." He whispered, Lily still sobbing into his chest, her arms wrapped around his torso. "I-I was s-so scared and-and-" She kept sobbing, tightening the hug while he hushed her, still stroking her hair. He didn't know how long he was comforting her, but he soon heard her sniff, now finished as all of her tears dried out.
"...I'm sorry..." She croaked and he just simply smiled, shaking his head and kissed her forehead. "Do not apologize. There is no shame over tears. You need to let it all out and you did, it is never healthy to keep it all locked inside of yourself." He said, looking at her in her eyes, his hands on her shoulders as she looks at Paarthurnax.
He slowly stood back, returning back to his original form. "Now then...I think it is time I am to teach you of what it means to be a dovah, young alpha." He said, Lily sitting down in front of him since the grass still clear from the snow that still falls from the sky.
"What is it that I need to learn?"
"First, you already know how some of the dovahs, like the fire drake Smaug, can change their size whenever they choose. It was blessed by one of the dragon gods above for a few to have this gift. Then you already know how I could transform into a mortal, without causing a havoc to people in villages or towns." He said and Lily nods, listening.
"Then there is still much more that you need to know. First...is our enemies...the Drookians...the black creatures of the night."
"The Drookians? What are they exactly?" She asked.
"The Drookians are evil and powerful race, killing those that stand in their way no matter what it is. They are the creatures of the night, slaughtering any kinds; even us dovahs. They learn a powerful magic; black magic. Black magic deals with death and death alone. Anything that touches the magic of death will slowly slip into darkness until death is upon you."
That made Lily gulped. "And...and their ruler?"
That made Paarthurnax silent, his head low and Lily looks at him. "Paarthrunax? Who are they? You're scaring me." She said.
"...The ruler...of the Drookians...is Angela and Gregory...your parents."
DUN DUN DDUUUUUUNNNN!
OH NO! A PLOT TWIST! WHAT HAVE I DONE!?
I am sorry that I am doing this to you, hatchlings, but it was high time I made this story more interesting and this was the only thing that I could think of!
So in the next chapter.
What does Lily react to all of what she'll learn about the rulers of the Drookians? And what will she do when she saw that 'they' were the rulers of the dark creatures? Will she accept it...or will it turn into something far worse?
Until then,
