It was a few days later when Durandal gave his speech across all mediums on Earth and in the PLANTs on how LOGOS is the real enemy and that they are the ones who caused both wars.
"He cut us out of destroying that monster" said Jinto watching the doctored footage
"Most people probably won't even notice that they didn't see something for ZAFT actually destroy that monster" said Van
"So that's his plan" said Lafiel
Everyone in the room turned to look at her.
"He is using the imposter to control the PLANTs" said Lafiel
"Now he is making himself look benevolent so everyone on Earth will listen to him by showing everything good ZAFT did and everything bad the Alliance did in the war" she said
"Anyone who doesn't follow him now will be declared an enemy by saying they are a part of LOGOS" said Cagalli
"I want everyone on that list arrested immediately" she ordered
"Anyone who helps them is to be arrested as traitors as well" she added
"We can't give ZAFT any reason to attack us" she finished
"Yes ma'am" said the guards as they left
The Minerva finally arrived at the Gibraltar base from Berlin where the Chairman was landing in his shuttle as well. Shinn and Athrun were asked to meet with the Chairman in one of the hangers.
When Shinn and Athrun got there, Athrun saw that the imposter was there with the Chairman.
"Welcome Shinn and Athrun" said Gilbert
"I wanted to have a talk with the two of you" he said
"But first, I wanted to show you something" he said
The lights came on showing two mobile suits.
"This is the ZGMF-X42S Destiny" said Gilbert pointing at it
"This is the ZGMF-X666S Legend" he said pointing at it
"They are both state of the art mobile suits and your new machines" he finished
"New nuclear powered Gundams" thought Athrun
"The Legend looks like the successor to Le Creuset's Gundam" he thought
"The Destiny looks like they threw all the Striker Packs onto one Gundam" he thought
After the Chairman gave a speech about creating a world where everyone 'knew there place', even using Kira as an example, Athrun knew it was time to leave. Once he was alone, he contacted Cagalli. "I need to get out of here" said Athrun
"Lafiel is already on her way" said Cagalli
"I figured you would want to leave after that speech the Chairman made" she added
"Thanks" said Athrun
"Lafiel, I'm in Gibraltar" he said
"Right" said Lafiel
"I will contact you when I get there" she said
It was night time when Lafiel contacted him. "I'm here" said Lafiel
"Where do you want me to pick you up" she asked
"I have a plan to fake my death" said Athrun
"I will steal one of the newest mass produced models" he said
"As they are chasing me, I will fly as close to the ocean as I can and jump in while they destroy the mobile suit" he continued
"Then you can pick me up after they are gone" he finished
"You could get seriously hurt doing that" said Lafiel
"It's the best way for them not to come after me and for you not to show yourself" said Athrun
"Alright" said Lafiel
Athrun opened the window and was climbing out when he heard someone knocking on the door.
"Athrun" said Meer
"So you sent the imposter to distract me" thought Athrun
"You are too late Chairman" he thought
Athrun went down to a lower level and cut opened a window with his lightsaber. He took out the piece he cut out and climbed through before replacing the piece. He then used the computer in the room to hack into the base's mainframe to set off an alarm. He set it to go off at the harbor so he could get to the hanger. Once it went off he snuck out of the building and made his way to the hanger.
He arrived at the hanger without any trouble and got into one of the GOUFs before taking off.
"I have taken off and heading away from the base now" said Athrun
"I see you" said Lafiel
Soon after the Destiny and Legend took off and started chasing after the GOUF.
"Two unknown mobile suits are chasing you" said Lafiel
"He sent the two new Gundams after me then" said Athrun
"How do you know about them" asked Lafiel
"He showed them to me and the psycho before giving us a speech I will tell you about later" said Athrun
"So he is piloting one of them then" asked Lafiel
"Yes" said Athrun
"It's the one with light wings" he said
"Have to tell Stella that" said Lafiel
The Destiny and Legend started firing at the GOUF with it narrowly avoiding each shot so they wouldn't be able to tell when he jumped out.
"Ready" asked Athrun
"Yes" said Lafiel
"This is going to hurt" said Athrun
He opened the cockpit and jumped out into the ocean just as the Destiny destroyed the GOUF. Athrun held his breath until the Destiny and Legend left the area before breaking the surface. Wing Zero appeared above him as he climbed on top of it and got into the cockpit. Once Athrun was inside, Wing Zero disappeared and took off towards Orb.
"Are you alright" asked Lafiel
"I'm fine" said Athrun shivering
He then sneezed.
"You sure don't sound it" said Lafiel
She then activated her clyuno and said "I got Athrun"
"That's good" said Cagalli with a sigh of relief
"Just make sure you have some warm, dry clothes and maybe a stretcher ready for him" said Lafiel
"Why" asked Cagalli afraid
Lafiel explained Athrun's escape plan to Cagalli.
"You idiot" shouted Cagalli
"It's the only way I could think of for them not to come after me and for Wing Zero not to reveal itself" said Athrun
Wing Zero arrived in Orb and landed at the hanger. Lafiel helped Athrun out of the cockpit and onto the stretcher. They then all took him to the military hospital.
An hour later a doctor came up to them with Cagalli asking "How is he"
"He has a lot of bruising and some fractured bones" said the doctor
"But nothing serious or life threating" he added
"He should make a full recovery" he said
Cagalli let out a sigh of relief at that.
A few days later Athrun was released from the hospital and Cagalli took him home. Once they were inside, Athrun said "I need to tell you something"
"It about those new Gundams and that speech the Chairman gave you and the psycho" said Lafiel
"Yes" said Athrun nodding his head
He explained everything about the new Gundams and the speech the Chairman gave him.
"So that's his ultimate plan" said Kira
"It coincides with the information that we have found" said Lacus
"What is it" asked Cagalli
"We don't have the full story yet" said Lacus
"We are waiting for one of Terminal's agents to return with that" she said
"How does he expect that to work" asked Miriallia
"Genetics will always put Coordinators on top" she said
"That is one of the reasons both wars are being fought" she said
"Maybe that's the reason for everything he did" said Lafiel
"He wanted control of the PLANTs and Earth so everyone would listen to him and follow this plan" she said
In space DaCosta returned with the information that Kira and Lacus were looking for.
"Here they are" said DaCosta handing over the notebooks
Kira and Lacus looked through them. They confirmed everything that they had found out.
"The Destiny Plan" read Lacus
"So we were all right about his ultimate goal" said Kira
They then all heard an alarm go off as a Reconnaissance GINN appeared on one of the cameras.
"A Reconnaissance GINN" shouted Kira
"You led them straight towards us" shouted Andrew
"I didn't know" stuttered DaCosta
"Launch the Eternal" ordered Lacus
"We can't let them discover the factory" she added
"Right" said Andrew
The Eternal discarded its asteroid camouflage as it took off. They had one ship behind them while two ships were coming from the sides in front of them to cut them off. They all launched ZAKUs and GOUFs that started attacking the Eternal.
"You handle the mobile suits while I take care of the ships" said Lacus
"Alright" said Kira
Strike Freedom and Angel launched from the Eternal and separated. Strike Freedom started easily disabling all mobile suits. While Angel split her Twin Buster Rifle into two and started disabling all the ships.
Once it was over, Lacus said "We need to return to Orb"
"Yes" said Kira
"ZAFT will try to attack Orb next" he said
Strike Freedom hugged Angel as they were both cover by her wings before they started re-entry.
