Fearless and Tearless
Chapter 16
…
Toshirou's P.O.V.
"…What? You heard our old man. Am I supposed to be surprised? I don't really care." The sister of Kurosaki said before she shook him off and walked to the kitchen.
I looked at Ichigo, "Is she always like this?" Both of the Kurosaki's shook their heads.
"I wonder what's wrong. She's completely emotionless. She's not shocked at all by any of this." Ichigo sounded worried.
"This could be the Hollow's doing… but maybe not." Isshin responded. "Let's just watch over her. Toshirou? Thank you for understanding." He really did look grateful.
"Ichigo, are you coming back as the 9th division captain or not? Well, your decision doesn't really matter at the moment." I mumbled.
Isshin stood up, "Toshirou stay for lunch. Yuzu has made a ton of food and we can't eat it all by ourselves. I'm sure after this, Ichigo will go back to Soul Society with you." Shocked I looked at Ichigo who was looking down guiltily.
"How do you know that, dad?" Ichigo asked as he too stood up. My former captain just smiled at his son.
As Ichigo and I headed towards the kitchen, I looked back and saw Isshin touch the picture of his dead wife affectionately. I knew this because of Ichigo. What do you think about all of this? I can't really think about it straight. The whole thing is weird. Hmm… I'm going to go away for a bit, okay Toshirou? Without waiting for my reply, I could feel my sword's spirit drift away. Now, what am I to do while I wait for this meal? "So, you're coming back with me?" I faced the orange-haired guy next to me.
"Ya… I think it's about time I got back and fulfilled my responsibilities. But, I don't really know what to do about Karin. I don't feel completely safe leaving her here."
Sparing a glance towards his sister, "It's definitely not safe to leave her here by herself, but there's Urahara, Yuroichi, and your dad. It'll be fine right?" Even as I say this though, I know that all of them have limiters on themselves, and I don't even really know what's up with my former captain's powers. Ichigo just shrugged. The two sisters were talking quietly by the stove and preparing the food. Definitely, the darker-haired girl, am I right? I rolled my eyes.
I thought you were leaving for a bit. The annoyance in my thoughts seeped through. I was, but I couldn't miss out on the opportunity to say something while you were checking out Ichigo's sisters. You could hear the amusement in his voice. If Ichigo were to hear you right now, we'd both be half-dead.
"Karin!" Ichigo's other sister yelled.
Karin's P.O.V
"So, who is that guy?" my sister Yuzu was staring at him strangely, "He seems different… Like Ichigo." I nodded and that was enough to confirm her suspicions. Her eyes widened, but she didn't mention anymore about this topic.
Karin-samaaaaa. Hokarin was at least a little better than Hikarin… speaking of the devil, Why do I have to be with this lame ass Karin? I have my own sword as well! Hokarin, stop being a lazy ass fart and we could easily wipe the floor with Karin and Miyuki! That thought was very interesting. I didn't want to respond though. There were too many voices going on in my head.
Karin-san? Are you okay? You seem to be pale. Just ignore those idiots. At that exact moment Yuzu asks me if I'm all right. "Ya! I'm fine; there are just a lot of things happening right now. I'm a little tired." The excuse was believable, because I was tired. Ya, I'm fine.
I do not want this pathetic person to be in charge of MY body. I swear, I'm going to take over your consciousness today, Hikarin was starting to piss me the fuck off. I couldn't even muster up the mental strength to respond though. Hikarin, let our mistress be relieved of your voice. She needs rest and a clear mind. Now Hokarin made my quirk my eyebrow. What are you trying to play at Hokarin? You're going to confuse Karin if you're acting nice. Just side with your Hikarin and stay away from Karin. Don't bother her!
Don't back talk me! You're just that measly Shinigami's sword! I could whip your ass right now without Hokarin! There were too many voices.
Excuse me! Who's body do you think you're in? Give more respect towards me and Karin-san! Too many.
Ladies… Hikarin cut him off, Let's go. Right. Now.
I crumbled to the floor and heard Yuzu scream, "Karin!" My eyes were completely open and I was conscious, but I could not function. There were too many voices in my head. I couldn't think. I wasn't me. Those voices in my head were not mine. I didn't have any of my own thoughts anymore. I couldn't do anything but stare blankly at the wall while my Zanpakutou and Hollows fought.
Toshirou's P.O.V.
I saw Karin fall towards the floor, but she didn't go unconscious. She just merely stared ahead like there was something else going on. "What's wrong with her?" I heard Ichigo demand.
"I-I don't know. I asked her if she was all right and she said she was fine, but then a few seconds later she just slid to the ground slowly and she won't respond to anything I say to her or do." The other girl was starting to get scared.
Isshin came in later, "Damn it. She was doing well for as long as she could. Honestly, I thought she would've succumbed sooner. C'mon Ichigo, lift her up, we're going to Urahara."
"Tell me first what's wrong with her! It's like she can't even see us when clearly her vision is fine." Sometimes this idiot needs to chill, but this is a scenario where I agree with him.
My former captain started to look impatient, "Look, just listen to your father for once. The one whom can explain this scenario better is Urahara. Right now just carry your sister and come with me. You too, Toshirou. Yuzu, sweetie, she'll be fine. We'll be back soon." That tone was of my old Captain of Division 10. His authority showed through his voice. For once, Ichigo shut up and did as his old man said.
Her eyes still wide with no expression, Ichigo gently picked his sister up and held her princess style. She didn't respond at all to the touch. We shunpoed over as quickly as possible and arrived at the shop. "Why hello there, what do I owe the pleasure of-oh. Get her inside. C'mon," I don't think I've ever seen this sketchy old man's face change so quickly before.
The four of us went downstairs to the training area. Karin was starting to break out in a cold sweat, but her expression remained unchanged. "So, is anyone going to let me know what's wrong with my littler sister? Is this a side effect to when you let her become a Shinigami? If so…" Ichigo was all up in Urahara's business and I couldn't care less. It's because you careeee. Really. Even at a time like this. I'm shocked Hyourinmaru didn't say anything before this.
"Well, sooooo. Right now there are three other beings inside of Karin's head. We already deal with our Zanpakutou's voice inside our head, for Ichigo's case-a hollow also resides there- but for Karin-chan, her mind, body, and spirit are being shared with her sword and two other Hollows. Without enough training mentally, how is she expected to be able to handle this? She barely has room for her own thoughts and feelings. She needs to be able to learn to control all of them.
Before you ask why she has two Hollows, I'll enlighten you. There was a stupid small prophecy in the past about a human being able to completely become one with a hollow and soul reaper, not the one-sided Visor or Shinigami. But truly together. Karin, if properly trained, will be able to control and use both powers to their fullest…. It will definitely be hard though. " Interesting. Does this make you more interested in her? For someone who was fawning over this lady, you don't seem very concerned. She'll be fine. She's strong… and she'll have help. Help?
"Now. In order to help her… one of you guys needs to enter your inner world, preferably not Ichigo, since your hollow might start up something with hers… Any volunteers?" He seemed to enjoy this for some reason.
I expected Isshin to jump to this opportunity to save his daughter, but his words shocked me, "I don't think I should… Toshirou, will you please help my daughter?"
"Wait! Why him? You're her father!" Ichigo exclaimed.
He looked away and then back, "I just don't think I would be able to do anything for her if I went in…" Went in?
"So, what am I supposed to do? What's the point if I do into my inner world?" I asked. Isshin smiles slightly at me while Ichigo pulled at his hair.
Urahara lazily sits down on a boulder and takes out his fan, "Oh, you'll see."
Before anymore questions or irritable comments could be asked, Hyourinmaru cut them off. Just hurry up. You want to help her right? I think it is a little weird how the two adults here are acting surprisingly calm. I had to agree.
I sat down and in no time, I was in my dream world. A blue, icy serpent-like dragon immediately welcomes me, "Now, what's going to happen… I have a feeling that I already know." And before I can say anything, Karin comes running through into my inner world and my sword and I both have to blink.
"Where's Ichi-nee?" Is the first thing that comes of this girl's mouth. For some reason, it irritated me.
"Why and how are you in my inner world?" I demanded. I noticed that my dragon was slightly smirking in the distance.
When I spoke, it was like her eyes cleared up and she properly looked at me. "What? Oh… I don't know… I saw a door and I opened it, because I couldn't stand the arguing." She looked very confused.
"Arguing?" Hyourinmaru and I ask in unison. "Is it possible… to show us your inner world?" He asked.
She finally looked like she woke up and stared at my Zanpakutou. She whistled in approval, "You're very beautiful and intimidating." I could tell he loved this compliment. "Sure, let's go. I don't know what you can do though, they're being children." She turned around and a door appeared out of nowhere- black, silver-metal door with no physical sides or doorknob. Seems like we just have to push it. And she did. My eyes widened. Her inner world was so much hotter than mine, but it wasn't an uncomfortable flame, and surprisingly, my dragon accepted it too.
"I could get used to this," he purred. I rolled my eyes before I was shocked again. I saw a woman in all black with a pair of wings fighting a hollow version of Karin… and a young man watching them with a faint grin.
"This is why I didn't want her to know about you guys! You will only bring trouble!" The one with the wings yelled. "But… before I kick your guys' asses, it seems we have some guests." At the same time, all three of the suspicious people looked over at Hyourinmaru and I.
"Uh… hello, I am Captain Hitsugaya, it seems like we're in Ichigo's sister's mind right now. Could someone please explain what is going on right now and why Karin has been unmoving for the past hour?"
The pretty lady with the red, blazing wings widened her eyes, "What?" She turned to Kurosaki's sister. "Is this true? Why haven't you said anything?"
Karin rolled her eyes and sat down in the middle of an empty space, "I tried, but it didn't seem like anything I said would get through to any of you." Well, that seems to explain it… they had no idea what they were doing to the host of their body. I was slightly shocked when Hyourinmaru spoke in my head when he was right there.
Ichigo's P.O.V
"Explain to me again why we left Karin's health up to the brat who doesn't even know or care about our family? How do we know we can trust him? I'm sure he'd rather want her dead than alive and fully capable of rebelling against Soul Society," I was on a rant. I swear they weren't even listening to me. Urahara-san and Goat-chin were lazily sitting at a tatami mat and sipping tea. "She's your daughter! Why are you entrusting her fate to this runt?" I pointed towards Toshirou.
"Can you calm yourself, please? I'm sure she's fine. She hasn't died yet. Besides, he used to be my number one cute kohai when I was the captain of the 10th division. Ah, the memories." Then my father and the storeowner went into a conversation about the old times and how they messed around. As I was going to burst again, Yuroichi showed up in cat form.
She purred first against my leg before transforming into her human state. Of course my face would go red. She smiles. "Like what you see?"
Isshin barely looked over but his cheeks were slightly blushed whereas Urahara didn't even react, "Go put on clothes, Yuroichi. He might look like a man, but Ichigo is still a young, vigorous boy." This caused me to blush harder but I couldn't retort back. Wait, aren't I forgetting the matter at hand? Before I could respond, Zangestu spoke up; It's all right, Ichigo. Your sister should be fine. Besides, you know better than anyone that Hitsugaya is a reliable man whom we can trust.
My face contorted with annoyed acceptance, fine. "Can't you relax? You always want to jump right into situations when you don't have enough information. You have no idea what to expect if you went into your inner world." She was right.
Karin's P.O.V.
This was really getting annoying. I'm sure my real body looks really defenseless and pathetic right now, but there's really nothing I could do… right? "Oi, why aren't you trying to stop this?" This brat asked me.
"Can I even? I don't think I'm strong enough." This statement from me seemed to shock him. "What? I know when Urahara and Ichi-nee were sparring with me, they were going easy." I hated to admit it, but obviously I'm not on their par at all. I just started.
I can still try, I guess. Miyuki's wings were growing redder and redder, strange because I wasn't getting mad. Maybe it's her own anger. The redder they became, the more badass she looked. Hokarin was just observing with some enthusiasm on the sidelines as Hikarin was taunting Miyuki. I'm honestly surprised they haven't started fighting yet. Here it goes. I launched myself at Hokarin. His face was completely shocked, but his instincts came over and he managed to jump away. "What's this Karin-sama? Decided to actually do something?" I hate taunting.
Ignoring him, I flew to Hikarin, who was still distracted with Miyuki and kicked her. She stumbled a few steps. "What the hell? You want to go? I've been waiting!" The entire time, Hitsugaya was just watching with curiosity in his eyes. His dragon… I would need to talk to his zanpakutou later.
"Karin-san! What are you doing? You're not ready to fight with them!" Miyuki's wing's colors started fading.
I stood next to her, "Ya, but this is getting nowhere. It hurts me to see you guys pettily arguing, and you all are affecting my mental state, I can barely think for myself. I need all of you respecting me. When you want to fight verbally all the time, go argue here, not in my brain. It's too hard. Now, if you would please, Miyuki… Frost!" I think I finally understood the whole snowflake business. They weren't actual snowflakes, but more of… snowflake-like patterns. It didn't freeze, but it stunted. The whip was more like a black snake, nullifying anything in its path. I haven't played around enough with the actual blade of the sword, but I'm pretty sure I have flames, and I was about to find out.
