Thad nervously tugged at the hair behind his ear as he sat across from Blaine, "What did you need to talk about?" he wrung his hands together as his eyes darted, thinking of what to say.
"I… I don't know anymore, Thad…" He raised a questionable eyebrow, folding his hands over each other on the table as Blaine glanced down at them, slowly smiling before looking back at Thad. "You were always so proper."
He smiled shyly, ducking his head slightly, "Thank you… I take pride in it." Blaine smiled fondly at the Warbler, sitting there silently before clearing his throat, breaking Thad out of his stare. "Sorry…" he mumbled shyly when he realized he had been staring.
He chuckled quietly, shaking his head slowly, "You know what, Thad?" the boy raised an eyebrow as he cocked his head slightly, a gesture he gained from his father. "I've been selfish lately… You… You were always so selfless… It's my turn. I'm gonna put the spotlight on you. Let's talk about you, Thad."
Thad raised his eyebrows, smiling as Blaine grinned widely, leaning back in his chair, "I truly appreciate that, Blaine but are you sure there's nothing you have to tell me?" the boy adjusted his bow tie self consciously, shaking his head.
"No… But I have to do something quickly," Blaine lay his hand over his pocket, rubbing his thumb along the edge of where his phone was. Thad raised his hand, waving it aside and he chuckled quietly, getting up, "I missed you, Thad," he walked away from the table and in between two rows of bookshelves. The Warbler adjusted his tie, refusing to let old feelings rekindle as he watched the boy lifting his phone to his ear.
Blaine pressed his hand to the bookshelf as he listened to the phone ring, shutting his eyes as there was no answer.
"You've reached Sebastian Smythe, if you think you're important enough to fill my inbox… Leave a message." Blaine shook his head, a dopey smile on his face at Sebastian's voice as he heard the long beep.
"Sebastian, I really need to talk to you. Call me back, please…" Blaine hung up and inhaled deeply, "I'm sorry, Thad, but this is one thing I have to be selfish about."
Sebastian shut the door, kicking his shoes off on the mat before freezing as he saw a pair of high heels and slowly narrowed his eyes at them.
"Mr. Smythe," He looked up to see the maid, raising an eyebrow before she walked over, taking his bag gently and he sighed softly, taking off his jacket before handing it to her.
He kicked lightly at the pair of shoes, knocking them over on their sides, "Maria? What is she doing here?" the maid sighed quietly, shrugging lightly as Sebastian rolled up his sleeves, walking past her and opened the wine cabinet, his jaw quickly clenching before growling quietly, "She took my favourite wine, Maria?" he slowly looked at the maid as she ducked her head.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Smythe."
Sebastian quickly stormed through the house, groaning at the tell-tale signs of his mothers presence. He quickly went up the stairs and walked to her door, knocking gently before crossing his arms and nodding slowly when there was no response. "I'm not an idiot, mother, open the goddamn door." He continued to wait, tapping his foot impatiently as he heard the door unlock.
Sebastian quickly opened the door, walking in and avoided looking at his mother as he grabbed the open wine bottle, sitting in a bucket of ice. "Don't. Take. My. Wine!" he yelled, turning to glare at his mother, struggling to remain intimidating at the sight of the woman he hadn't seen in ages. "I don't know who you think you are and I don't know why you're here but I don't give a fuck, you don't take my things without asking…"
She hardly moved, staying firm in place as she watched her son. "Okay, fine. Can I have-"
"No."
She scoffed quietly, rolling her eyes, "Just like your father. Stubborn, obnoxious and disrespectful." Sebastian laughed humourlessly, shaking his head slowly.
"Oh, mother, you make me laugh…" He walked closer, "And I get the alcoholic gene from you," he smiled sarcastically sweet as he stepped closer, "My father? Please, when was the last time you've even seen him… He wasn't even the last guy you fucked." Sebastian spat, quickly glaring at his mother before walking out of the room.
As Sebastian walked past the banister that looked down at the staircase leading to the first level, he glanced to make sure Maria wasn't near before he threw the wine bottle and continued walking, hearing the loud smash, hitting the stairs and most likely scattering down the steps and onto the floor.
"Maria! Clean that up!" he called as he walked into his room, slamming the door behind himself.
Sebastian lay in bed, staring up at the ceiling as he rested his hands over his stomach before tapping his fingers lightly. He slowly closed his eyes, remembering the Sebastian he used to be, before he had hit his "rebellious phase"… Ever since he was a child, his parents were almost non-existent and he lived alone except for Maria. He slowly rolled onto his stomach and leaned over the bed, pulling out a picture book from underneath it and slowly pulled himself up, setting the book in front of him. Sebastian brushed his hair back, slowly opening it and brushing his finger lightly over the hospital bracelet that was taped to the page and looked at the picture of his mother, holding her only son in her arms. He glanced at his mother in the photo, even after just giving birth, she still looked kept together except for her hair which she must have had no idea was a mess. Sebastian let out a short laugh before looking at the next picture of his father, holding him.
He must have just gotten back from the office, wearing a business suit as he stared down at his son, his face expressionless. He flipped the page and slowly teared up at the next picture, wiping his eyes quickly, it was his uncle Francis, smiling down at the swaddled baby as he sat in the hospital chair. Uncle Francis was always nice to his nephew and always watched over him at the family events, no matter if it made his brother angry or not; he truly loved Sebastian and he loved him like a son, a lot more than his own father loved him. He flipped the page and sighed quietly, knowing that the rest of the pictures were all taken by a younger Maria and neither of his parents were around for them. Sebastian let out a short chuckle, a tear rolling down his cheek as he saw a little blonde boy with a bowl cut, playing in the leaves by himself; he slowly placed his hand over the picture, closing his eyes as he thought back to how happy he was in his childhood, even when there were times of darkness.
Countless days where he'd wake up and hope his parents would be home from business, run into his room, scoop him into his arms and never let him go… But that never happened… Even as a child, Sebastian woke up to darkness, nothing around him as if he had no family at all. He blinked his eyes open slowly, a tear spilling onto the photo album which he quickly wiped away as he continued looking through the photos. He smiled sadly at a picture from Halloween, he was dressed as Superman, of course, he was his favourite superhero. He remembered that night well, he was always glanced at by concerned parents when they noticed such a small boy was out alone during such a dark, cold night, filled with scary costumes and strangers giving out free candy. The streets of Paris during Halloween weren't meant for a little boy.
It was late, Sebastian's bag was getting unbearably heavy and he had no idea where he was. He looked around frantically, tears in his eyes as leaves were blowing in the wind and the streets were completely empty, streetlights out and the houses were dark; he walked slowly, clutching the bag tightly as tears slowly rolled down his cheeks, a soft hiccup bursting from his throat. Sebastian sniffled quietly, looking around as he shook lightly, his lip quivering.
"Mommy… I need you… Where are you?" His voice cracked, looking around as he wished his mother would have come home while he was trick or treating and was coming to look for him now.
Sebastian quickly closed the book, tears rolling down his cheeks as he inhaled deeply, trying to forget that night. He frantically rubbed his face, groaning quietly as he closed his eyes tightly and shook his head slowly. He inhaled deeply, wiping his tears and looked at his phone as it vibrated, telling him that he had a voicemail, he slowly picked it up and stared at the name on the screen. He slowly glared at the smiling picture of Blaine and shook his head slowly. How dare he?
Sebastian slowly unlocked his phone and listened to the voicemail, closing his eyes.
"Sebastian, I really need to talk to you. Call me back, please…"
He slowly hung up, huffing quietly and slowly pursed his lips, texting Blaine.
Oh, you better be pregnant if you're calling me after what you did… -S
Thad tapped his foot anxiously as he sat on a bench, waiting for the bus to come. After talking to Blaine, they went for a long walk which ended in them, sitting at a pizza place and pigging out, just like they used to. Thad looked around, wishing the bus would hurry up. He wasn't like a lot of the other Warblers, he was fine with public transit and public schools, he didn't really care too much about it. He leaned his head back and inhaled deeply, slowly looking at the woman that was sitting next to him. He slowly turned to look at her, "I'm Thad." she slowly looked at him, smiling.
"I'm Grace… Where are you heading today dressed like that, young man?" He looked down at his uniform and chuckled quietly, looking at her.
Thad smiled at her and adjusted his tie, "This is my school uniform, I go to an all boys school." she raised her eyebrows, smiling.
"The uniform is really nice… I'm heading to see my daughter, she recently got her own apartment." Grace smiled sweetly and he couldn't help but feel fuzzy inside when she mentioned her daughter.
Thad nodded slowly, "Was it hard to let her go?"
"It was… But I love her and she promises she will make time to see us," he smiled softly, "She's a smart girl."
He stared at Grace, "Would you mind if I confess something to you, Grace? I feel like I need a mother to tell… I'm not ready to tell my own mother," the woman nodded, looking at Thad with confusion in her eyes.
"I'm gay."
Thad slowly walked into his dorm, closing the door quietly behind him so he wouldn't wake up Trent.
"Finally!" He turned quickly with wide eyes to see Trent before he pulled him into a bone crushing hug, "God, I thought Sebastian had turned you into his personal sex slave…"
Thad looked at the boy, crinkling up his nose, "Eww!" the taller boy grinned, pulling back from the hug and over to his computer desk.
"I'm serious! I thought I lost my roommate, you've been in his room so much." Trent sat down in his computer chair, opening up a Word document as he started to type, Thad walking over to him slowly.
He peered over the sassy Warblers shoulder, "What on earth are you writing?" he questioned, "Because that does not look like our Spanish homework!"
Trent rolled his eyes, "It's called Niff Fanfiction, Thad, get with it."
He shook his head slowly, smiling as he walked over to his bed, "You're nuts, Trent, completely nuts." Thad sat down on the edge of his made up bed, laughing quietly.
"Oh please, you'd kill for a relationship like Niff."
"You mean, Nick and Jeff?"
"Niff."
"Fine… Who else do you write about?"
"Oh, nobody…" Trent smirked lightly as he glanced at his separate Word document titled:Thadbastian.
