Chapter 4: Trouble in Gear Village
Jenny's Home!
Docks at Ironside Isle, Marine ship
Carriol looked at the village with a mixture of contempt and moderate awe. The town was spread out, with many dual level buildings connected by electrical wiring. Each home had a generator suckered onto the side, powering the lively town. The centerpiece of the island was the huge clock tower which also served as a town hall. Everything on the island was connected by power lines and tiled roads except for a small house situated on the cliff overlooking the place, but that was not important. What were important were the rumors that Daedalus, a "former" pirate, was hiding out on this island.
"Gather everyone in the main square," he said surprisingly quietly to the marine next to him, "that will make it easier to find the scoundrel." The lieutenant stammered an affirmative before rushing off to carry out the order. The captain smiled at the terror he held over his subordinates. Fear helped whelps like them stay in line. He was about to step off the ship when he noticed another ship docked in the yard. It appeared to be a pirate ship, judging by the flag, He grinned, even if the one he was looking for wasn't here, he could still snatch some prey.
Village Square, 1 hour later
The trio arrived in the square to see almost everyone in the town gathered around the town hall. There was something happening on the steps of the clock tower, and if the reactions of the villagers were anything to go by, it wasn't good. Jenny pushed her way to the front of the crowd gasping at what she saw. The old man from the docks was kneeling next to a butt ugly marine captain. Jenny tightened the grip on the sword at her waist when she saw the blood dripping from the wound on the old man's forehead.
"YOU CAN EITHER TELL ME WHERE DAEDALUS IS, OR YOU CAN DIE LIKE A DOG, YOUR CHOICE!" the captain bellowed. He held his fist above the old man as though it were a gun ready to fire. The old man at his feet said nothing. "AWW, WHAT A SHAME, AND I WAS HOPING TO NOT DIRTY MY FISTS AGAIN!" Jenny looked closer at the steps seeing the crumpled bodies of two other towns' people. Carriol swung his fist down and the old man closed his eyes waiting for the death blow. It never came.
The old man opened his eyes to see Jenny blocking the massive fist with crossed swords, blades digging into the fist.
"Run," she said through gritted teeth. He immediately scrambled up and shot into the crowd, not wanting to be anywhere near the marine.
"AND JUST WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?!" Carriol shrieked, retracting his wounded fist. Jenny looked at him coldly, trying her damnedest not to puke at the sight of his badly clipped on hair.
"Corona C. Jenny," she replied, getting no small satisfaction at the way his subordinates shook at the mention of her family name. The captain was somehow unfazed even knowing that this was Vice Admiral's daughter. In fact it seemed as though he was pleased to learn this. That's mildly unsettling she thought.
"WELL GOOD! THE DAUGHTER OF VICE ADMIRAL FIEF SHOULD KNOW QUITE A BIT ABOUT DANGEROUS CRIMINALS," Carriol bellowed, spiting all over her face. She nodded, not even bothering to wipe off the spittle. "EXCELLENT" he grinned, "THEN WHERE IS DAEDALUS?!"
"He's dead," Jenny said without hesitation, "Now please leave." The captain frowned before he twisted it into a wide grin.
She's lying, but I know how to get the truth out of her, "VERY WELL, IF YOU'RE SURE WE WILL LEAVE," he declared, surprising everyone, "BUT FIRST," he turned towards one of his subordinates, "RAZE THE VILLAGE." Jenny immediately sprang into action, leaping at the gorilla of a marine. He didn't even flinch as he backhanded her into the wall of the clock tower. "LEAVE NOTHING STANDING."
Luffy and Zoro watched passively while Nami and Ussop began panicking along with the rest of the village.
"STOP!" a yell was heard from the clock tower. Everyone turned in shock to see Jenny standing in the ruble of the ruined wall, with her clothes, mainly her pants in tatters. That's not what surprised the recently arrived pirate crew though. Now that most of her pants were shredded to bits, Zoro could finally see why her leg had looked so strange.
Both of her legs were mechanical.
Her left leg was more like an armored boot than a leg, with bulky joints and rotating gears visible in beneath the metal plates. The other leg was shaped more like an actual leg, with the thigh and calf shaped correctly and it even had toes. The girl attached to said legs was fuming in anger. Jenny had crossed her swords in front of her, forming a '+' shape that from her point of view, crossed directly over Carriol's heart.
"You will not touch my home," Jenny said, a dangerous edge to her voice, "These people are precious to me, and if you so much as put a single spark to even one house, or harm another citizen," her expression darkened, "I'll kill you where you stand!"
"HAHAHAHAHA" He laughed, "And what could a puny little-"
"Gear Boost: Crosshair Slash!" There were two flashes across the captain's chest as he stood frozen. Jenny stood calmly behind him, in a crouched stance. As she rose she twirled the sword in her right hand before gently sheathing it over her right shoulder. Standing fully she flipped the sword in her left hand around before slowly sheathing it. Just before it was fully in the scabbard, she whistled the same four notes she had on the cliffside, and slammed the blade home.
Two large slashes appeared across that captain's chest before he passed out and hit the ground with a thud. Jenny looked across the square to see the idiot with the straw hat staring at her with stars in his eyes. His next statement would change her life forever.
"AWESOME!"
Okay, maybe the one after that.
"Join my crew!"
That's the one.
Yeah, I'm back, hopefully for good. Claptrap, would you do the honors?
