Chapter: Akashi Seijurou

Satsuki squealed in excitement as she spotted a familiar blue haired teen enter the gym with a bag slung over his shoulder, she quickly placed down her clipboard and met the passing specialist halfway with a warm embrace all the while yelling out his name with sugary sweetness. "Tetsu-kun!"

Tetsuya caught her before she tackled him to the ground and sighed in relief when he managed to prevent the both of them from falling. "Good afternoon Momoi-san," He released his hold from her person and straightened up before bowing his head. "I'm sorry for being late, the festival committee meeting had some trouble with the budget and it ended up taking longer than I thought it would."

Momoi had to smother down another squeal of happiness. 'Tetsu-kun is so polite!' and shook her head with a bright smile. "Don't worry about it Tetsu-kun, we don't have practice today, in order to prepare the Basketball club's booth for the cultural festival!"

Tetsuya raised a brow at that. "But… I saw the others running laps outside…" He frowned. "Momoi-san am I being isolated?"

Momoi paled at the sudden change of tone from her long time crush and visibly withered when she saw the frown that was starting to surface from the usual cool and stoic façade of her dear Tetsu-kun. She flailed her arms in panic and tried to explain the situation. Such a face does not suit Tetsu-kun! "W-What!? N-No! T-Tetsu—"

"It was a joke."

Momoi blinked. "E-Eh?"

He bowed again. "I apologize Momoi-san," He smiled in a way that Momoi had to make sure that she hadn't died and went straight to tetsu- heaven. "I was just teasing you."

She blushed bright red and tried to play it off by turning away with a pout. "Mou! That was mean Tetsu-kun!"

"Again, I apologize." He bowed once more and made his way to the bleachers with Momoi trailing behind him, as he begins to inspect the half done posters for the exhibition they were to present. "These aren't done… why are the other running laps outside?"

Momoi freezes at that and momentarily forgets the embarrassment from being teased by Tetsu-kun and immediately felt exhaustion bubbling up inside her once more.

"The others… angered Akashi-kun."

"Ah… I see." Tetsuya stared down at the floor in contemplation and decided to pick up a brush to catch up with work. "So they are running outside as punishment?"

Momoi sighed but nodded. "Preparation time was right on schedule but then ki-chan and Dai-chan had to be all noisy and Mukkun had to follow as well!" She kneeled beside the invisible teen and assisted him in laying out another poster. "I would've at least expected more from Midorin but…"

...

"Akashicchi! Look how about this one?" Kise held up a crudely drawn poster with what was supposed to be the whole of the generation of miracles, only as power rangers with basketballs surrounding them. "I made it myself!"

Aomine bursts out in laughter as he points at the horrible drawing with tears threatening to fall from his eyes. "Sugee Kise! Who knew you'd be this bad at drawing!?"

The partime model pouted and looked down at his masterpiece. "It's not that bad… right Murasakibaracchi?"

Atsushi glanced at the piece of paper in his hands with that bored stare he always had and scoffed before stuffing a handful of chips in his mouth. "Kise-chin is amazingly bad."

"EH!? You too? Midorimacchi!" Kise whined and latched on to the glasses wearing green haired three point shooting specialist of Teikou while holding back tears. "Back me up, Aominecchi and Murasakibaracchi are bullying me!"

Midorima scowled and tried to push off the blonde idiot. "Get off me Kise!" He glared and adjusted his blazer, ever the image of a perfect model student. "Oha-asa said that Geminis will encounter difficulty in the nature of arts but I didn't think it would be this bad. You should have brought your lucky item today if you didn't want to encounter such bad luck, Kise."

Aomine wiped off a tear and threw his arm over Midorima's shoulder. "I don't think luck can do anything about Kise's horrible drawing skills."

Midorima grunted and shook his arm off. "Maybe not, but it would've helped." He whipped out a purple ruler and began drawing on a blank piece of paper. "Today's lucky item is a ruler. Oha-asa predicted the need of such an instrument and following its advice had me come prepared, nanodayo."

"Eh… but that doesn't mean Mido-chin is any better that Kise-chin though," Atsushi crushed the now empty bag of chips and looked over at his work. "Straight lines are good and all Mido-chin, but that's just boring~"

Midorima twitched in anger. "Is that so? Can you come up with anything better?"

"Sure," Atsushi grabbed another snack from his stash and shoved a piece of paper in his face. "Here~"

Midorima glared and grabbed the piece of paper, his eyes narrowing as he read the poster. "This is…."

Aomine looked over Midorima's shoulder and lost it as soon as he read the contents of the purple haired giant's poster. "You're gonna bribe the people with snacks!?"

Gym – 1:00 P.M.

Tea and cakes

"…"

"We're supposed to spread the word for the basketball exhibition, not bribe people!"

"Eh? But what's better to attract attention than snacks~?"

"Not everyone is as obsessed with snacks like you are Murasakibara!"

"Murasakibaracchi... at least my poster made sense."

"Your drawing skills suck, Kise-chin."

"Pfft! He's got you there Kise, you suck so bad!"

"Aominecchi, I'll tell Kurokocchi that it was you who took his special Vanilla shake coupon the other day!"

"W-What?! Kise you Bastard!"

"Ehhh... Mine-chin did that? Kuro-chin got mad at me 'cause he thought I did it... Mine-chin can I crush you?"

"Hmph... You're shameless."

"Shut up! Kise if you tell Tetsu I'll—"

Snip

"I assume you four are finished seeing as you have time to play around like this."

Crap—!

The four members of the famed Generation of Miracles all froze and turned to their fear inducing captain. Akashi Seijurou, sat on the bleachers, carefully unfolding the perfectly made streamers that he had been working on the past few minutes. A pair of red scissors sat dangerously close to his side, surrounded by colorful paper.

"A-A-Akashicchi," Kise laughed, breaking away from Aomine's headlock "Good job on the streamers."

"Y-Yeah." Aomine grinned, albeit forced. "They look great."

Akashi ignored the two and stood up. "If you four are done with the flyers give them to me so we could have the underclassmen print out copies and post them around campus… or seeing as you four are so energetic, you could do it yourselves."

"No need," Midorima picked up his own piece and handed it too Akashi. "This is mine, I'm sure we can all agree that we'll use this, nanodayo."

Murasakibara frowned and brought his own flyer forward. "Like I said, your flyer is boring Mido-chin. No one would be interested to go if they see yours."

"You—!"

"Eh!? What about mine!" Kise pushed his poorly drawn work of so called art into Akashi's face, shoving the other two aside. "Akashicchi, mine is awesome right?"

"Kise-chin is annoying."

Aomine held back his laughter and snorted. "Kise, it's horrible we're not gonna use that."

"I fail to see why you would still insist on that horrible poster of yours." Midorima glared. "Face it Kise, today isn't your day."

Kise pouted. "Shut up! It's Akashicchi's decision."

The four members of the generation of Miracles glanced at their captain, awaiting his final decision. Akashi held the three sample flyers at hand, looking calm as ever but the slight frown on his lips indicated he was not amused by the whole spectacle.

"Daiki…" Akashi looked up and stared at the power forward. "Where's Tetsuya and your design for the poster?"

"Eh? Aominecchi is teaming up with Kurokocchi?" Kise pouted. "That's not fair! You get him all to yourself on the court and now you're hogging him off court too!?"

"Ryouta." Akashi's tone made it clear he wanted none of his shit right now. (I'm so sorry)

Kise squeaked in surprise and hid behind Midorima who merely sighed at the idiotic display. "Idiot."

"Ah… Tetsu was on the festival committee for the class. He's at a meeting I guess," He went over to the bleachers and grabbed his bag, fishing out a slightly crumpled piece of paper. "As for the flyer design we made this one during lunch."

Akashi held out his hand and Aomine lazily passed him the paper.

"I tried to help out with the slogan but Tetsu ended up doing everything. It's nothing great, but it's definitely better than Kise's."

Akashi inspected the paper, with the other three looking over his shoulder trying to get a peek.

Midorima twitched. "Basketball…"

"…Banzai?" Murasakibara raised a brow, pulling out a candy bar from his back pocket.

Kise snorted. "A youthful exhibition of friendship and teamwork?" He laughed. "That's definitely Kurokocchi!"

Aomine shrugged. "Yeah, Tetsu pretty much vetoed all my ideas and that was the best one we can agree on."

"I see…" Akashi nodded. "Then we'll use this one."

"….EH!?"

"It's a safer choice than what you three had come up with, Tetsuya worked hard on it." He shrugged and passed the paper to Midorima. "Have some of the underclassmen print them out and post around Campus, I need to talk to the coach about the practice match next week." Akashi began picking up his belongings. "We're done here, just be sure to clean up the—"

"EVERYONE! BIG NEWS!" the doors flew open and Momoi ran inside with a cheerful smile on her face. "BASKETBALL BUTLER CAFÉ IS A GO!"

Momoi grinned, expecting a barage of congratulatory responses from the members of the club but frown when she saw her dear friends frozen in shock, all staring at the redheaded captain who was standing idly by the bleachers. "Umm… Guys?"

"…A…A…AKASHICCHI!" Kise cried out loud, snapping out of his frozen state.

"Oi..! B-Blood!" Aomine began to look around, arms flailing. "S-Satsuki this is your fault!"

Momoi paled. "E-Eh!? I…A-Akashi-kun I'm sorry!"

"T-This is no time to panic nanodayo!" Midorima glared at Kise who had began running around the gym calling for help, "Calm down you idiot!"

Murasakibara slowly approached their captain, hands in raised as if to show he was unarmed. "Waaah… Aka-chin are you okay?"

Akashi blinked and stared at the tiny gash on his finger, a trail of blood seeping from the wound. "Ah… I cut myself."

NO SHIT!

"D-D-Does it hurt Akashicchi? B-Band-aid! We need a band-aid!"

Akashi glanced at the panicking blonde, he forgot that Ryouta was weak when it came to the sight of blood.

The blonde had tears in his eyes, and his words came out as a bumbling mess. "M-M-Momoicchi! A-Akashicchi is—"

"Shut up Kise!" Aomine pushed the blonde aside and grabbed Akashi's hand carefully and inspected the tiny gash. "…Well it's not that deep so I guess you'll live, just lick it and wrap it with something."

"Idiot!" This time it was Midorima who pushed Aomine away, replacing his hand with his own. "That is highly unsanitary! Akashi, keep the wound elevated."

Murasakibara came up behind him with a bag of snacks. "Aka-chin don't cry, here I'll give you some of my snacks."

Midorima twitched in annoyance. "What does snacks have to do with anything!?"

"It will make Aka-chin feel better," Murasakibara glared. "Mido-chin has no sense of delicacy… you fail as a doctor."

"WHAT!?"

"I'm sorry Akashi-kun!" Momoi cried as she came up beside him, offering a pink handkerchief. "It's all my fault."

Aomine sighed. "Damn it Satsuki, I told you to stop yelling in public!"

"Shut up Dai-chan!" Momoi kicked him in the shin.

Kise was running in the background yelling for the first aid box.

"Kise-chin, shut up." Murasakibara yelled at the blonde model who had just tripped himself. "Mai-chin's not here, she's the one who carries the first aid kit."

Midorima broke away from his glaring match with the Purple haired giant and took Momoi's offered handkerchief and carefully wrapped the Akashi's hand with practiced ease. "There, that should stop the bleeding, but it would be better if you get it treated now,"

Akashi flexed his hand and inspected his bandaged hand. "Thank—"

"Akashi-kun! I think Sa-chan-sensei is still at the office." Momoi spoke up after delivering a well aimed punch to the side of Daiki's head. "I'm sure she can treat your wound."

"Eh? The Clinic?" Kise perked up, a blush blooming across his face. "I'll accompany you Akashicchi!"

"Nu-uh, Kise-chin." Murasakibara pushed him away. "I'll go with you Aka-chin, I can carry you if you want."

"Pfft— Murasakibara, Akashi doesn't need to be carried you weirdo," Aomine laughed. "I'll go with him, I need something from Sakura anyways."

Kise glared. "Since when are you on first name basis with senseicchi, Aominecchi?"

"None of your business, ikemen." Aomine glared back.

"You three are annoying," Midorima adjusted his glasses. "I'll come with you Akashi, unlike these three I won't be a bother."

"Mido-chin just wants to see Saku-chin, again."

Midorima blushed. "I-I do not nanodayo!"

"Ne, Ne Akashicchi, let's go to the clinic."

"Kise you annoying brat! I told you I'd go with Akashi"

"Mine-chin is the annoying one, I'll go."

"You're the most annoying one out of the three, nanodayo!"

"A-Ano…" Momoi paled and took a step back from a certain redhead that has been quiet the whole time, she could practically feel the annoyance rolling off in waves from Akashi's person. "E-Everyone please come down!"

This is bad..!

"Everyone," Akashi smiled. "Shut up."

Tetsuya blinked. "…So Akashi-kun made them do laps as punishment for annoying him?"

"Yeah, Akashi-kun made them run 50 laps around the track field," Momoi sighed. "If they fail to finish before the final bell rings I would have to increase their training load for the rest of the season."

"I see… Momoi-san?"

"Yes Tetsu-kun?"

"Where is Akashi-kun?"

"Oh, after everyone went off running I convinced Akashi-kun to head over to the infirmary."

A frown marred his features as he stared at the tiny gash on his finger.

Honestly… It was just a scratch

But they were making such a fuss about it

They are a rambunctious group as always

It was amusing though

I do wish they would stop making a big deal about everything

Such good friends we have

Akashi blinked. "…We?"

"Akashi-kun?"

Akashi was pulled out from his thoughts and looked up, he was in front of the infirmary's sliding doors. When did I get here?

"Akashi-kun?" A hand landed on his shoulder. "Is something wro—Your hand!"

Sakura immediately took his hand into her own, and inspected the neatly wrapped hand. "What happened?"

"Sensei," He greeted. " I was cleaning up and accidentally cut myself doing so, It's really nothing—"

"Baka!"

Akashi blinked. Ba—Me…?

Sakura poked him on the forehead and took him by the arm. "I swear Teikou has the clumsiest students ever!" She grabbed him by the shoulder and forcefully made him sit down on one of the vacant beds and pulled out a standard first aid kit from under.

"Akashi-kun please never let wounds even as small as this go untreated, it's a bad habit to make and frankly, just plain irresponsible!"

"…Hai" was the only response he could manage. After all it wasn't everyday an Akashi would be called a baka.

She took his wrapped hand and smiled at the handiwork, immediately recognizing the work of a certain green haired shooting guard. "Shin-Midorima-kun is getting better at wrapping wounds I see," She grinned. "I hope he didn't panic like last time."

"He wasn't the only one panicking…"

Sakura chuckled, already knowing what he meant. "Well it's sweet to see your friends being so worried, ne Akashi-kun?" Before he could reply to that, she had already turned away from him, heading over to her little corner office instead of waiting for a response. Akashi glanced at his un-bandaged hand and noted that the wound had at least stopped bleeding while clenching and unclenching his fists.

"Oh, by the way congratulations on winning your latest away game," Sakura smiled. "It was impressive how everyone doubled the score by the third quarter of the match."

Akashi nodded. "Thank you Sensei for always accompanying the basketball to our games."

Sakura waved her hand in a dismissing manner, trying to hide her embarrassment. "It's my job, I need to be sure that my students are properly taken care of."

"Even so," Akashi bowed his head in thanks. "We have eluded many possible injuries because of you, the basketball team in indebted to you Sensei,"

"You're exaggerating, a couple of bruises here and there is nothing. I'm just doing my job," Sakura laughed and approached the redheaded teenager with a cup of tea. "The worst I had to deal with is Kuroko-kun's infamous nosebleeds."

Akashi silently contemplated if it was proper for the school nurse to serve up tea and snacks in the infirmary but nonetheless accepted the offer.

It would be rude not to, and Akashi Seijurou was anything but rude.

"So how are preparations for Nationals coming up?" Sakura sighed as she sat on the chair in front of him, her own cup of tea on her lap. "During his time as captain, Nijimura-kun had brought in players almost every day due to the extensive training."

Akashi smirked, remembering their old Spartan of a Captain. "Momoi-san and I am currently working on a training regime for members. Leniency is a trait that will not be tolerated, Nijimura-senpai had taught us that and I plan to stick by it." Akashi met her eyes, amusement dancing in his own. "Sensei, it seems as though the Basketball club's habit of sending members to you after training will not change, please continue in assisting us."

Sakura laughed. "Of course, It will be my way of cheering you on."

"We will be in your care, Sensei."

Sakura waved her hand in a dismissive manner, "It's my job, don't think much of it."

"Even so, Sensei has been a great asset to our team. You are a valuable support and we appreciate it."

Sakura sighed, her tone teasing. "Akashi-kun is certainly a master of flattery."

"Everything I say is true though, sensei." Akashi smiled. "Even I can say that you know the team more than our coach sometimes, so if you have anything to say that can improve our team I am willing to hear it,"

"Akashi-kun is exaggerating but if I might make a suggestion…" Sakura smiled a bit uncertain and continued when Akashi nodded. "Kise-kun… needs to work on his footwork, I understand he had just recently started basketball and he's doing tremendously well for a beginner but he is sloppy compared to the other members. Aomine-kun needs to work on control, his prowess in basketball makes him a commendable power forward but he needs to cooperate with the team more," Sakura crossed her arms and sighed. "I know he's perfectly capable of handling his own, but he looks crazy pushing through the opponents defense on his own like that. Midorima-kun is different though, he's been working non-stop with trying to perfect his threes and I can see the strain in his right shoulder whenever he picks up the ball, small as it is. I'm getting worried. Please tell him to pace himself, it wouldn't do him any good to work himself too hard to the point of an injury." Her eyebrows knitted as she closed her eyes, feeling a headache coming up. "Also, please try and make Murasakibara-kun lessen his snack intake. He's been coming in here way too often complaining about an upset stomach and as much as I love making him drink some special tea, holding back a bit in eating maibou would be more ideal…"

Akashi blinked. "That… is most helpful, thank you for your input Sakura-sensei." He knew the woman had been to their games and practices every now and then, but this new information had been a surprise, to think she was this involved with his team.

She smiled. "You're welcome—"

"And Tetsuya?"

Sakura blinked "Pardon?"

"Kuroko Tetsuya, Sensei." Akashi chuckled. "From what you said about my team it is obvious that you have been watching our games and practices. You gave wonderful pointers about the others but what of our Phantom Six man? You have helped him the most during his time as a regular, surely you have much to say about him as you have to the others."

"Akashi-kun is exaggerating, Kuroko-kun does not get injured that often!"

"Yes but he has been the one you have been spending time with the most, surely you have some things to say about him as well."

"Well, Kuroko-kun is…" Sakura smiled, "Working hard. He knows where he stands in the team and he is doing his best to play his role as everyone's support."

Akashi nodded. "He has been doing his best during training, and his fainting spells have lessened."

"He has improved a lot, that Kuroko-kun. He and Aomine-kun had done an excellent job on the court on their… what do they call it? Their "Shadow and Light" combination?" " Sakura chuckled. "Aomine-kun certainly fits "Light" but I never knew Kuroko-kun was one for such metaphors."

"As silly as it sounds, those two certainly play their roles well." Akashi smirked, knowing how humorous the ridiculous title is. "It's enjoyable though, you can't argue that sensei." Akashi glanced at the wall clock situated at the far end of the wall opposite to them and frowned. "It's already this late, sensei I apologize for disrupting your time thank you again for helping me." He stood up and Sakura took his empty cup.

"You're welcome," She smiled. "Are you heading back to practice now?"

"Yes, I had left the others doing laps and I think they are about done by now."

"Training?" Sakura blinked. "Even though the principal announced an off day for all sports club for the preparation of the cultural festival?"

Akashi smiled. "We can do both, Nationals is coming up sensei. We can't afford to slack off."

"Of course." Sakura laughed. "Although it was nice chatting with you Akashi-kun, though I wished you could have stayed a bit longer. I would've liked to finish our talk."

We're not done? Akashi raised a brow in question. "What do you mean, sensei?"

"Well," Sakura grinned and began putting away their used mugs, a teasing smile on her face. "I have said my opinion on everyone… well everyone but Akashi-kun."

He blinked. "Me?"

Sakura crossed her arms over her chest, eyes glinting with mischief. "Well of course, you didn't think I wouldn't notice the things even a captain should improve on?"

What? He barely restrained the frown that threatened to occupy his feature but he managed to put out his practiced smile. "Of course sensei."

"Good. Well, from what I have seen, I can tell that Akashi-kun is…" Sakura sighed. "A very serious captain."

"…Thank you?" This time he did frown. That's it?

She reached over and poked him on the forehead. "Too serious, in fact."

Akashi visibly flinched at the sudden contact to his person and scooted a few spaces back. "Excuse me?"

Sakura stood up, crossing her arms over her chest and stared him down, a look that could only be described as a mix of teasing and disappointment. "Akashi-kun should learn how to loosen up, every now and then. I know how the position of captain can be hectic, especially for a middle school student but please do ease up when you can." She grinned and patted his head in a manner that one would do with a puppy. "I think you should learn a thing or two from Kise-kun and Aomine-kun about loosening up!"

Akashi was proud that he managed to stop himself from outwardly cringing at the suggestion. "Thank you for your concern but I am perfectly fine, Haruno-sensei." He tried to move his head away from the strenuous petting but the hand followed. "Please do refrain from petting my head like a dog."

"Sorry, I couldn't help it." Sakura laughed and finally relented her head patting with a grin. "Force of habit."

"It's quite alright, sensei." He sighed, running a hand over his red locks, trying to undo the damage done. Is she this friendly with all her students?

"Man, you really resemble him!"

Akashi's eyebrows furrowed. "Resemble who?"

She grinned. "Your grandfather."

"…"

"…"

"Haruno-sensei do you expect me to believe a mere school nurse from a middle school in Tokyo is acquainted with the head of the Akashi conglomerate?"

"Oi." Sakura flicked him on the forehead. "Who are you calling a mere school nurse."

Akashi moved a step back, nursing his bruised forehead. "Ita—!"

Sakura sighed, a look of feigned disappointment settling on her pretty face. "Akashi-sama is such a fine gentleman, to think his precious adorable grandson would be such a contrast to that is quite a letdown," She stared at him, eyes glinting with amusement. "He would be sad seeing his cute Jurou-chan grow up to be such an uncute child."

"W-Wha..!"Akashi felt his face heat up.

She wasn't lying, no one had ever used that most guarded and not to mention extremely embarrassing nickname other than his honored grandfather on him before.

He coughed, trying to regain some dignity and straightened up. "Haruno-sensei please refrain from using that name, only my grandfather is allowed such a privilege."

Sakura grinned. "Eh? What's this are you embarrassed Akashi-kun? How cute!"

"Haruno-sensei please stop." He glared. "I'm leaving. Thank you once again for your help."

"Aww Akashi-kun don't be mad!" She laughed as he made his way to the door. Akashi slid the door open, and stepped out, only to pause a second longer to look over his shoulder. A faint pink dusting over his normally stoic features.

"…Please do not mention this knowledge to anyone. Please."

She laughed. "Calm down Akashi-kun, I won't." She grinned. "Good luck at festival preparation! oh and don't be too hard on your teammates during practice Captain-san!"

"…Thank you."

"What did you do to Akashi-kun?"

Sakura glared and swiped some fries from Tetsuya's tray with a pout. "I didn't do anything!"

"Liar," He took a sip of his favorite vanilla milkshake and stared her down. "He came back to practice annoyed, he also announced that we will be doing drills two hours every day after festival preparation."

Sakura harrumphed. "Nationals is coming up, you guys need to step up your game! Don't go blaming me about things that should be obvious Tecchan."

"…You did do something." His eyes narrowed. "You never call me that unless you're being extra sadistic. What did you do to Akashi-kun?"

"H-Hey! I'm not a sadist!"

"Uchiha-san and Uzumaki-san would beg to differ."

She reached over and flicked him on the forehead. "Stop that. They would be sad hearing you call them that,"

He rubbed his forehead. "It feels weird to call them by their first names… Naruto-san and Sasuke-san."

"Well get used to it," She took a bite out of her sandwich. "You're going to be staying with them for a month."

"…I wish you didn't have to go."

She reached for his hand. "I'll be back soon."

Tetsuya lowered his head. "I… I love you."

"I love you too."
