Hello, my readers! I'm very sorry that I have not updated in such a long time. The charger to my computer was ripped in half and destroyed, and the family computer suddenly decided to deny us of having internet; on top of that I don't even have a phone, so my life is terrible at the moment. On top of that, I have been secretly using my sister's computer to work on some of my stories, but some of them I won't be able to work on them until I get a new charger.

That aside, this is a continuation of Eli's story. This time around I'm following the X-Men: The Last Stand, and is after the Avengers and before Iron Man 3.

Chapter 13

Eli walked into the familiar boarding school that belonged to Charles Xavier. I still smelt the same as it once did when she had been here nearly three years ago. A person with a head of white hair came down the staircase. Storm was smiling down at Eli brightly. Eli opened her arms wide and Storm wrapped Eli into a strong hug. The African woman still smelt like fields of flowers and static electricity.

"How have you been?" asked Storm.

"All things considered, I've been pretty good." Eli joked. The blue eyed girl still hadn't been able to get tall, dark and overly ambitious out of her head. He plagued nearly all of Eli's thoughts.

"I'm sure that you've been able to get through it easily enough." Storm said.

"Oh, things got worse after New York, much worse. Pepper and Tony decided that they would postpone their wedding until further notice. My inhibitor isn't working properly anymore. And to make things worse, I fell in love with a psychopath." Eli whined. Storm gave Eli one of her famous looks.

"We don't have to be fixed, Eli." Storm said sharply.

"I know," said Eli, just as she had rehearsed it, "but there are mutants that would abuse their abilities and others who are a danger to themselves and others. My inhibitor would serve as a stepping stone to all kinds of laws involving mutants. I mean what are the humans going to do with a mutant like me, or Kitty should we break the law. According to the professor, no man, human or otherwise, is above the law."

"I know what the professor said…" said Storm. "It doesn't mean that I have to like it though."

"Do I get my own room while I'm staying here?" asked Eli.

"Yeah. The professor thought that it would be best considering your personality."

"Ouch. You, little miss, are almost as bad as Tony." Storm shook her head with humor and lead Eli to the living quarters of the mansion. Eli let herself be lead as she felt out with what was left of her abilities. It had become increasingly difficult since New York. She hadn't been able to use them properly, and for the majority of the time, using her abilities caused her pain. Eli pushed these thoughts away when Storm stopped at a room.

"You can stay in this room while you're here," Storm hugged Eli again. "It's good to have you back, Eli."

Eli observed the large room with sharp blue eyes. Tony and Pepper had very modern tastes when it came to decor. Most of the things they owned were sleek and edgy. Everything at the mansion was much more homey. Eli sat on the queen bed. It was soft, and the quilt was cute. Eli wasn't sure if she liked Pepper's taste or the more old school charm the mansion had. A sharp pain ran through Eli's head, causing the girl to gasp out.

"Miss Eli," Jarvette said from Eli's watch, "I must insist that you see a doctor about these symptoms."

"Jarvette, I am a doctor. There is nothing biologically wrong with me. I know this for a fact, because I performed an excessive amount tests to figure this out." Eli griped.

"Perhaps you should get a second opinion. You might be slightly biased, Miss."

"Jarvette, you were the second opinion. If you couldn't find anything wrong then whatever is wrong with me isn't biological. It's probably something emotional or mental; and if it has nothing to do with me, then I'm going to be in some serious trouble. Stupid Murphy's Law."

"Miss Eli, I doubt that a superstition has anything to do with this."

"Yeah, yeah I know. Just be happy that I'm worried enough to see a telepath about this, because if I wasn't I would just let this continue on until I was comatose."

Eli also left the room to get her bags from her car. The students and children watched Eli with interest. Eli found them all to be quite adorable. She wondered what their abilities were. That was the worst part about not having her abilities: not having that extra sense that told her everything she needed to know about others. Normally, Eli could tell what a person was capable of, human and mutant alike, and she would know who to avoid and who to tease to anger before fleeing the room. Also people could sneak up on Eli now, and she would be completely unaware of them. Otherwise, Logan would have never made her jump.

"When did you show up?" he asked.

"A little while ago. It's good that you're here; I'm going to get my bags right now, and you're helping." Eli said; she was sure that Logan scowled, but he walked with her anyway.

"Did you bring your motorcycle?" he asked. Eli looked at the near ancient man incredulously.

"No, I knew that you were here." Logan shook his head.

"What're you doing here?" he asked.

"I have a favor to ask the professor."

"Wait, what? You want to see the professor." said Logan in disbelief. Eli scowled.

"Just help me with my bags."

Eli and Logan brought the young woman's bags to her room. Eli asked her metal friend how he was doing since Jean Grey had died. It had been several months since then, but Eli now understood what it was like to lose someone you desperately loved. There was only one person who loved Jean more than Logan, and that was Scott. Eli was almost afraid to see him. From what she had heard he wasn't doing well.

Logan said that it had been hard at first, but that he was able to overcome it. Eli wondered if his accelerated healing extended to emotional healing. He was still a little quiet about it though. Eli let the topic drop, and moved onto something more her speed.

"Do you think Storm will let me in on a battle simulation?" Eli asked excitedly.

"You'll have to ask her." said Logan as he left Eli to unpack. The brunette couldn't help but pout. Storm was always wary of letting Eli participate in battle simulations.

"Put in a good word for me," Eli squeezed Logan's arm before she started unpacking her things.

"Yup." Logan said as he left.

Eli pulled her hair into a loose bun as she began unpacking her things. She started with her clothes. Many of them were little black dresses and various shoes. There were also men's sweat pants and tank tops that she would wear to bed. She had just started to unpack her designer jeans and t-shirts. By her third bag of clothes, Eli was wondering if she had packed too many clothes. With the closet filled and the dresser nearly there, Eli began unpacking the rest of her belongings.

Eli put out pictures of Tony, or the few pictures she had of him, Pepper, and Rhodey. There were also pictures of Storm, Jean, Scott, and even one of Logan. These were merely comfort items that made Eli feel like she had some sort of connection to the people she loved. When she was a mutant she could look for them and see them from thousands of miles away.

When Eli was almost completely unpacked she mused that she didn't have any pictures of the man who ruined her. For that matter, Eli didn't have much of anything to remind her of him. The only thing that she had was his cape which was practically staring her down, calling to her. Telling her to just wrap herself in its rough green fabric and pretend that it was the would be king. Eli almost gave into her desires. Instead, Eli pulled the bed's hand stitched quilt and flat sheet off the bed and threw the cape onto the bed and quickly covered the cape with the sheet and blanket. She wasn't going to be tempted so easily.

With a nod Eli left her room and searched for the kitchens. She passed several children on her way. Including a child that was walking on the ceiling. One of his books almost fell and hit her on the head. He had apologized and Eli thought it was cool until she noticed that he was looking down and into her dress. Eli threw the nearest hard object she could find at him. When Eli did make it to the kitchen she found the professor waiting for her there.

"The first time I met our friend Mystique was in this very kitchen. It's almost hard to believe that we are nearly the same age." the professor said nostalgically.

"I met her in a back alley while dumpster diving; I had been looking for food." the young woman said with some irritation.

"And yet you chose the opposite of what she did," said the elderly man. He must have been thinking of something far off to reach that statement.

"Can I assume that you know why I'm here?" asked Eli as she poured herself a glass of apple juice.

"It is about your inhibitor and it's affects on your body, correct?" the professor made his statement sound like a question.

"I would appreciate if you would see if my emotional and mental state is affecting the inhibitor. It would help me narrow down if I need to look closer at my body or if I need to rearrange my mind to a more...mellow state." Eli tried to explain.

"Let's move to my office then shall we."

Eli was unsurprisingly uncomfortable with the idea of letting someone see inside her head. Eli felt the professor easily push aside her mental blocks as he delved into her mind. The brunette knew that her mind was flitting across several things. More often than not, a green eyed man made himself the forefront of her thoughts. Tony's increasingly troubling behavior was a close second. Various other things came and went. Phil's death would occasionally replay within her mind, along with several other deaths that she had witnessed.

Several minutes passed before the professor stopped his search. Eli took a deep breath. She felt positively violated, despite the fact that this was her own idea. She also knew that her feelings could easily be read in her body language. Despite all of that, the professor was friendly and kind. Just as he always was.

"Although your mind is in a bit of chaotic state, I don't believe that it is your mind that is interfering with your inhibitor. Eli, based on your thoughts, this inhibitor could be killing you. I urge you to find a way to reverse this before you damage your body permanently." genuine concern welled in the man's voice.

Eli relaxed her body and took a deep breath. This was getting more and more dangerous. No matter how many tests that she performed on her blood and on her body she could find nothing wrong. They all came back negative. Eli decided that she was going to have to look further into her physical health.

"Thank you, professor." said Eli.

"You knew that I would say this, didn't you?" this was a genuine question.

"I needed it confirmed. Professor, I'm going to need access to your medical facilities. I may be here more a while. If you would like, I will even begin teaching classes if you need me to." said Eli as she stood.

"Is that a question or a demand," the professor said with humor. "Feel free to use them, and please take care of yourself."

Eli only nodded as she made her way back to her room. When she reached her bed she collapsed onto it. She felt herself begin to tear up. She felt way over her head. Eli took another deep breath. This was not the time to break down under this pressure. Now was the time to rise above all others and get work done.

Later that night Eli laid in bed trying to force herself to sleep, but her mind wandered to a rather intimate moment between herself and her would be king. When he held her up and kissed her and touched her. The thought of his lips on hers made Eli's entire body hum with need. It didn't help that she had wrapped herself in his cape, which still smelled like he did: ice and warm spice.

Eli swallowed as her core throbbed. If Eli had been in her own apartment away from super-powered mutants she would have given into her desires and touched herself. At her core and breasts, the image of her king touching her bare skin.

Eli clenched her teeth and forced such thoughts out of her head and rolled over. Pain racked her body. The girl curled into herself and tried not to cry out. The pain only stopped when Eli passed out, mumbling the name of her lost king.
