This little blurb took way longer than it should have. It's one of my NOPT, so I couldn't write it well and got stuck a lot. Sorry to the requester, Lord-Ultimus

Ronald Bilius Weasley was not stupid. He was not as smart and studious as Hermione, nor did he have Jane Potter's defense skills; but he still had some brains.

Ron did not have the "emotional range of a teaspoon" like Hermione thought. He saw a lot more than anyone would think.

He saw his own feelings, for both Jane and Hermione. They were his best friends and had been for years. But, in the back of his mind, he wished for something more, something closer. He never admitted it out loud, but he was in love with both of his best friends.

Ron had seen the looks Jane sent to Neville. To Cedric. To Krum. Hell, she's looked at Malfoy like that more than once. It was the look someone sent another when they had feelings for them. Ron knew he has sent that look to both his best friends (Merlin knows the twins will never let him forget). He thinks Hermione might have looked at him the some way. But he lacks the famous Gryffendor courage to ask her out.

But Jane... It was like Jane was in another league. Not because she was the Girl-Who-Lived or her money. But how can someone like him compete with pretty boys like Cedric and Malfoy? How can he compete with Krums fame and accent? How can he compete with Neville being able to bond with Jane over what happened to their parents?

For the longest time, Jane looked onto others, never seeing the looks her best friend sent her. Then, one day, his glances began to vanish. Ron loved Roses friendship too much to ever risk it over unrequited love. Slowly, he distanced himself from his feelings for her. They would still twinge and Ron would long for what could have been. But it occurred less and less as time move on. Each found their own loves made their own families. Jane and Ron. Ron and Jane. Friends forever; but nothing more.
