Episode 7.10 Loco Motives: After Grissom watched the live feed
The tape stopped, the swat team had switched off the computer on their end, but Grissom couldn't stop staring at the screen. He was trying to process what he had just witnessed. Sure he saw death all day every day, but to see someone take their own life, that was something he wasn't sure he could handle. He was so tired of this game, the cycle of death, Sara had told him he needed a break but he hadn't wanted to leave. But after this video, he wasn't sure he could stay either, he needed time.
Grissom drove home slowly that evening, he wasn't sure if he could tell Sara he wanted to go away. It was only a four week teaching position, but still he didn't know how she would react.
As he entered the apartment, he smelled something cooking. Walking in to the kitchen he found Sara standing over the bench preparing dinner. Grissom smiled.
"Are you cooking?" He questioned in a teasing tone.
Sara looked up and laughed.
"Yes, although I'm not actually sure how it's going to turn out"
As she spoke Grissom came around behind her and wrapped his arms around her. She lent back into his body, enjoying the comfort of his arms.
Sara continued to cut up vegetables as she spoke to him.
"I heard about Ernie Dell, are you OK?"
Grissom placed a small kiss on her cheek,
"In all honesty Sara, I don't know. I'm tired and that video really got to me this afternoon"
Sara turned in his arms so she was facing him, with her back gently resting on the on bench. She reached up and touched his face.
"I know" She said, "I can see it in your face. You need a break"
Grissom lent down and kissed her lips softly.
"I know I do" Grissom said "I need to talk to you about that"
Sara looked at him with a puzzled look but didn't say anything.
"I've been offered a four week teaching position at Williams College"
"Oh" was all Sara could reply.
"I haven't accepted it yet, I wanted to talk to you first about it" Grissom said, he wasn't sure what Sara was thinking.
Sara reached up and touched Grissom face again.
"You don't need my permission to do that, but I think you should go"
"Yeah?" Grissom asked.
Sara saw his eyes light up
"Yeah" She agreed. "You need a break, it will be good for you"
Grissom head a hint of sadness in Sara's voice.
"Hey" He said brushing her face with his hands "I'm coming back"
Sara smiled "I wasn't doubting that, I was just thinking how much I'm going to miss you"
Grissom kissed her gently.
"I'll miss you too" he said to her.
Sara turned back to her cooking, but Grissom continued to stand behind her with his arms around her. Sara didn't mind really, she like it when he held her tight, she felt safe and she felt loved. After a few minutes Grissom let go, placing a small kiss on her cheek he said to her.
"Would you like me to help you?"
Sara laughed
"That's probably best, I'm not confident how this will end"
Grissom laughed at her comment.
"Me either" he said.
