Episode 7.23 The Good, The Bad & The Dominatrix:

"Yeah? Sara paused. She watched Grissoms face but he didn't have a reply

"It's fine. Do what you need to do." She said coldly as she left the room

Grissom watched Sara walk out of the room. Her last words stung his heart. You do what you need too. Grissom didn't know if she was giving him permission, or telling him she off. Grissom rubbed his temple, why was it so complicated. Nothing had ever happened between him and Heather, but still when it came to Heather, Sara's whole demeanor changed. Grissom sighed, he would have to deal with Sara later, and he had to finish what he had started for Heather.

The next evening Grissom arrived to home to find Sara already there. She was sitting on the lounge reading a book, she looked up as he came in but made no acknowledgement of his presence. Her eyes went straight back to the book.

"Sara" Grissom said, noticing her behavior.

"Yeah" Sara said not taking her eyes from the book.

"Can we talk?" Grissom answered.

Sara put the put book down on the side table

"Ok" she said simply

Grissom stood their awkwardly, he thought that Sara would at least have started off the conversation. He was trying to find the right words, he was sorry he hurt Sara's feelings but he was not sorry for helping a friend.

After moments of silence Sara stood up.

"Whatever Gil, I'm going to bed" Sara's tone was cool and harsh as she turned away.

Grissom followed her,

"Sara wait" he said as they reached the bedroom.

Sara turned, Grissom saw tears in her eyes.

"What, what do you want to talk about" she said the anger in her voice rising.

"Sara, why are you so upset about me helping Heather?" he asked, he was surprised by the tone in his voice as well.

"Are you kidding Gil" Sara said "You just don't get it do you?"

Grissom stared at Sara, he was confused, but seeing Sara upset was breaking his heart. They never really fought but when they did, it pierced his heart.

Grissom walked towards Sara, but she unexpectedly backed away from him.

"Sara, just stop and listen to me" Grissom said taking another step toward her.

"Gil, I gave you plenty of opportunity to talk to me, but you didn't. It's not my listening skills that are the problem" Sara said, she could feel her cheeks getting hot.

Grissom hadn't taken his eyes of Sara,

"Sara, I'm sorry OK! I'm sorry that I upset you, that's not what I was trying to do. I was just trying to help a friend."

Sara scoffed "You know if it was any other friend, it probably wouldn't bother me so much, but Lady Heather. Gil come on, you should know better than that."

Grissom looked as Sara, he was so confused about what she just said.

"Sara, I don't see the problem" He said to her

"Gil I know you don't, and that's what makes me so angry" Sara paused for a moment thinking of a way to get Grissom to understand. She rubbed her face before continuing.

"Ok Gil, lets for a second say that Hank, my ex not the dog, turned up and needed help on a case, and I went off helping him, without saying anything to you or explaining what was happening how would you feel?"

Grissom stared at Sara,

"Well I guess I wouldn't like it, I suppose" Grissom slightly awkwardly, he was starting to see, Sara was jealous.

Sara threw her hands into the air.

"Grissom you are so frustrating sometimes. I don't want to do this now, I'm too tired, and you just don't get it!" Sara turned towards the bed and grab her pillows.

"What are you doing?" Grisosm asked genuinely worried now.

"I'm going to sleep in the spare room, I just can't be around you right now"

Sara instantly regretted saying that, she saw the crushed look on Grissoms face, and if the truth be told she didn't want to sleep alone, she was just trying to make Grissom feel how she felt.

Sara's words stung, he didn't actually know what was going on. He stood there for a moment he didn't know whether to follow or not. Deciding against it he sat down on the bed and started to take off his shoes. He didn't know what came over him but instead of placing the shoe beside him, he threw it across the room, and it hit the dresser with a loud thud. Grissom jumped, he's own actions shocking him. He made a point of not throwing things or getting overly angry around Sara, he knew it would bring up to many memories that she fought to keep away. He finished undressing and climbed into bed and tried not to think about the fact that Sara wasn't beside him.

Sara heard the crash in the bedroom, she felt a sting of guilt. She had made Grissom angry, something that almost never happened. She had also never known him to throw anything. She contemplated going back in there, but stopped herself. She wished Grissom could understand why she was angry, and she wish he cared more about that fact.

Sara laid down in bed and pulled the covers up over her, she rolled onto her side and tried to sleep. Her mind kept wandering back to Grissom alone in the other room.

Hours later Sara still hadn't managed to go to sleep, she couldn't stop thinking about their argument. It wasn't right for them to go to sleep with an unresolved argument. Giving up Sara got up out of the bed and made her way to their bedroom. She paused in the doorway wondering if Grissom was asleep.

Grissom laid on his back staring at the ceiling. He couldn't sleep, all he could see was Sara's angry face as she left the room. He just kept thinking he should have said more or done something more. But he couldn't understand why Sara would be jealous of Heather, surely Sara knew better then to think he loved Heather the way he loved her.

Grissom sensed Sara's presence before he saw her, propping himself up on his elbows slightly he saw her shadow in the door way.

"Sara?" Grissom said, unsure why she was standing there.

Without speaking Sara made her way to Grissom, when she reached him she, cupped his face and kissed him.

Grissom put up no resistance, but was surprised by her actions, he thought she was angry with him.

As Sara kissed him, Grissom noticed it was filled with passion and desire, he knew what she wanted. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her down on top of him, but did not break the kiss. He his hands wandered over her the familiar curves of her body. Before Grissom has managed to get any of her clothes of, Sara stopped for a moment. Resting her forehead on Grissoms she spoke quietly,

"I'm sorry" was all she said. Grissom felt a wet tear fall onto him. He brushed Sara's face and replied.

"So am I honey" He met Sara's lips and began his own, passionate kiss.

The next morning Grissom woke to Sara still draped over him. He wasn't sure how they had managed to stay like that all night. He ran his hands down her arm and across her back. He watched as her eyes fluttered open.

"Hey" he said gently kissing her cheek.

"Hey" she said smiling at him.

"Sara, before we do anything today, I think we need to talk" Grissom said, he didn't want to ruin the moment, but this issue between couldn't stay unresolved.

Sara nodded in agreement.

"I know" she said quietly "But I feel like an idiot, I might have over reacted a little"

Sara looked at Grissom and scrunched up her face. Grissom chuckled a little.

"Maybe, But I also should have given a bit more thought to your feelings"

Sara propped herself up so she could look him.

"I'm sorry, I really am. I'm just scared, when someone like Heather comes along and I see the way you look at her" Sara stumbled over her words, she was finding it hard to say exactly what she meant.

Grissom touched her face with his hands,

"Honey, there's nothing to be scared about, the way I feel about you, Heathers not going to change that. Yes she intrigues me but that's it, she's just my friend."

Sara looked down, feeling more foolish still.

"Hey" Grissom said tilting her head back towards him "It's ok, and I should have known better then to go off like that without telling you what was going on. I forget sometimes that you are effected by my actions also, I never meant to upset you."

Sara lent down and kissed him.

"Maybe both of us need to work on our communication, I'm sorry I got jealous, to be honest it surprised me little, but Gil I love you too much and even just the thought of losing you hurts, I let it get to me."

Grissom smiled at Sara,

"Honey, I'm not going anywhere I promise, I guess it's a good sign that you were jealous, at least I know you care"

Sara laughed at the last comment.

"In all seriousness Sara, I couldn't love Heather, or anyone for that matter, the way I love. You mean everything to me, you know that. But I promise that if anything like this happens again, you will be the first person I come to ok?"

Sara nodded, she lay back down and rested her head on his chest and listened to his heartbeat. It was soothing. Sara moved her hands into a shape Grissom had taught her a long time ago, and pressed gently on to Grissom chest.

Grissom smiled as he felt Sara's hands take shape,

"I love you too" He said as they both drifted back to sleep.
