Thank you for reading again and for the reviews, I know I've skipped a chunk of time in the GSR time line but i couldn't think of anything good to write about Sara being away - any way here is another sad moment in the CSI time line
Hope you enjoy and thanks again
Episode 9.01 For Warrick
Sara's phone buzzed in her pocket. She contemplated not answering, she had been enjoying sitting on the grass in the sunshine and reading. The phone buzzed again impatiently, looking down she saw Grissoms name flashing. She hurried to answer not wanting to miss it.
"Hey" She said brightly as she answered the phone.
There was silence on the other end, this worried Sara,
"Gil" She said "Are you there?"
"Sara" she heard him croak through the phone, and she knew instantly that something was wrong.
"Gil, what's wrong?" she asked.
"Sara, its…it's Warrick, he's gone." Grissom stumbled over his words, not wanting it to be real.
"Oh god, no" Sara said, she felt her body numb, she fought back tears, knowing Grissom would need her to be strong.
"I need you Sara" Grissom said,
Sara heard the urgency and pain in his voice.
"Of course, I'll be on the next flight I can get." She said to him "Gil, it's going to be ok, I'm coming"
"Thankyou" was all Grissom could manage.
"I'll see you soon," she said packing up as she spoke "I Love you."
Sara waited for Grissom to reply, but he didn't. She knew he would be fighting back tears.
"Bye" she said, just to be sure he knew she was going.
After the office scene
Sara rode home with Grissom, they sat in silence on the drive. Sara wanted to ask Grissom more about Warrick, but she knew he would get upset. Grissom pulled the car into the garage and Sara breathed in deeply, it had been nearly a year since she had been here, she wasn't sure how she felt about going inside.
Grissom got Sara's things out of the car, as they walked Grissom took Sara's hand. Without saying a word he squeezed it tight. Sara closed her eyes for a moment, trying not to cry.
Grissom unlocked the door and move aside so Sara could enter first. Stepping through the door way Sara breathed in deeply. Nothing had changed since the day she left. She wondered if Grissom even used the house for anything more than sleeping. As she was about to take another step in Hank came bounding through the house, nearly knocking Sara to the floor. Sara laughed as Hank nuzzled her in excitement
"Hey Boy" Sara said lovingly, "I missed you too"
Grissom watched the scene before him and smiled. For a small second, his life was almost back to the way it should be. His smile didn't last, as he realized this wouldn't last either, he doubted Sara was back for good.
Standing up Sara turned to Grissom, and threw her arms around him, hugging him tightly. They stood like that for a moment, just enjoying the feeling of safety that they brought each other. Pulling away, Sara touched Grissom face, as she watched a tear fall from his eye.
"Hey" She said wiping it away softly. "It's going to be ok"
Grissom placed a small kiss on her hand before letting go.
"I'm glad you came Sara" he said quietly, as he hugged her quickly again.
He pulled away and turned toward the kitchen, he was suddenly feeling awkward. He wanted to kiss her more than anything but he wasn't sure where they stood.
"Are you hungry?" Grissom asked, even though he wasn't hungry himself.
Sara shook head, "it's been a long day, I think I just want to sleep" she replied.
Grissom agreed.
"Yeah, I'm not really hungry myself, I think I'll just go to bed."
There was an awkward pause between them, neither of them really sure what the other was thinking. Sara was unsure if she should be sleeping in their bed or the spare room. Grissom unsure if Sara wanted to sleep next to him.
After a moment Sara turned and headed toward the spare room. Still not sure if it was the right thing to do.
"Sara" Grissom called after her, thinking he might as well try "You can sleep in our room with me."
Sara looked at him, but didn't say anything.
"Sara, I don't want to be alone tonight" Grissom said as tear escaped his eye.
Sara was overcome with a sense of sadness, she hated seeing Grissom like this, and he didn't deserve to be so sad. She walked over to him and gently kissed him.
They made their way into their bedroom together for the first time in over a year.
