Episode 9.02 The Happy Place
Sara closed the apartment door behind her, she was overcome with sadness. She had realized her and Grissom needed time apart, she loved him with every part of her, but it wasn't enough. Right now they wanted different things, and Sara knew she couldn't stay. She had started this journey to find herself, and after a year away realized how much better she felt being away from Vagas. Sure she missed Grissom, so much it hurt, but it wasn't enough to keep her here, she wanted so desperately for him to say he'd come away with her. But when he hadn't, it made her decision all the more difficult. She went down stairs to the waiting taxi, she didn't know where she was headed now but she hoped that it would bring her clarity.
Episode 9.05 Leave out all the Rest
Grissom stared at the screen, not wanting to hear what Sara had said. They were over, he didn't want to believe that for a second. He felt a sting of hot tears in his eyes. Why was love so hard? At what point had Sara given up on them? At what point did he stop trying?
He felt a sudden rush of anger, Sara had left him with nothing but a note, and then she expected he picked up his life for her. She had no right to ask that off him.
Grissom sunk into the lounge, he had answered his own question. They wanted different things, right now they couldn't make each other happy. Grissom had a flashback to the week in San Francisco when he and Sara had met. They were faced with the same choice, and once again they didn't choose each other. Grissom closed his eyes, maybe sometime in the future he and Sara would be brought back together like before. Although Grissom knew this was unlikely, he was just dreaming.
