Grissom leaves again
"You're seriously leaving?" Sara said to Grissom, she could feel heat rising in her face, she was getting angry
"I have to Sara. You know I have to finish off the teaching in Peru" Grissom moved toward her. Sara put up his hands to stop
"Don't" She said. "I need you here, I need you to stay with me. I'm tired of not seeing you, it hurts too much to be apart" Sara was starting to sob.
"Sara, Honey, I'm sorry, I just can't stay here anymore. Why won't you come with me? We could travel, like we always planned to" Grissom said trying not to let his emotions get the better of him.
"I can't Gil, I'm not well enough to travel right now, you know that." She said angrily.
"Sara, can we please not fight about this, I love you, whether were ten minutes apart or ten hours, that's not going to change. But I can't sit still anymore, and I can't stay in Vegas" He said quietly, he hated when Sara and him fought.
"Fine Gil, Just do whatever makes you happy. Don't worry about me I'll be fine." Sara turned and walked away angrily.
"Sara stop, don't do this" He called after
Sara turned back to him, tears streaked her cheek.
"I don't want to talk to you right now, just go back to Peru, you're obviously happier there" Sara turned and walked out of sight.
Grissom stood in the door way, torn between his love for Sara, and trying to prove his point to her. Eventually he picked up his bag and headed out the door.
Sara sat down on the bed and let her tears fall. She heard the door slam and sobbing turned to heavy uncontrollable crying. She needed Grissom, she needed him more than she ever had. She couldn't go with him right now, and he knew that. Sara was hurt and angry. Ever since she had come home from the hospital Grissom had been different. Distant, less attentive. She was sure he was hurting just as much as her, but she was having enough trouble with her own feelings to help him with his. She curled up on the bed and tried to sleep, she would call and speak to Grissom when she wasn't so angry.
A few hours later Grissom was sitting in the airport waiting to catch his connecting flight to Peru. He looked at his phone, his screen saver a picture of him and Sara when she had gone to Peru and told him she was pregnant. He knew that he would be going home as soon as possible. He would need to be there when Sara had the baby, and being a long distant husband was hard enough but he knew he couldn't properly raise a baby from that far away. But when Sara had lost the baby, everything had changed. It's not that he didn't love Sara, nothing could change that, but being at home hurt. It made him think of all the things that could have been, the family that had slipped away, and he hadn't been there for Sara. That hurt him more, he had let her down and he could hardly bare looking her in the eyes. He picked up his phone and dialed her number. He needed to speak to her before he got on the plane.
