A/N: Glad to see I wasn't too hated. And that the last chapter was well received. I'm feeling nice so I think today we will find out more about the musical and maybe see a little sentiment from Severus.
Chapter 17
At midnight Severus emerged from the room (after of course casting a strong enough glamour to fool everyone into think he had taken the virgin) to see everyone waiting.
"Thank you, Lucius," He spoke snidely, "That was a very thoughtful gift."
"My pleasure Severus."
And so Severus look to Voldemort, "My lord, I am sure Hermione has had enough of motherly advice. If it pleases you I would take her home."
"Of course, Severusss. Even if miscarriage is prevented, you still must make sure she is healthy for a healthy heir."
"Yes my lord," and with that, Severus apparated away.
Hermione had found her way back to the main entrance. At midnight she was beginning to think she would have to stay the night. And that unnerved her more than anything. Bellatrix could return and try to torture her.
Instead she saw Severus apparate in front of her. Without thinking or caring she ran to his arms and together they went home. But the exhaustion of the day got to her and she was in the second it took them to get home. Severus picked her up as she fell against him and carried her up to her room. Using non-verbal wandless magic he pulled her blankets back. Gently he laid her in the bed, his hand hovering above her abdomen for only a moment before he placed the blankets over her and left.
Hermione woke in the comfort of her bed. She hadn't realized how tired she had become over time until she looked at her clock and saw it was nearly 2 in the afternoon. She sat up, stretching until she realized she was in the clothing from the day before. And that she was starving. Today was going to be a lazy day and so she walked over and changed into her sweats and a tank top.
Severus heard Hermione coming down the stairs. He had timed her waking up perfectly. The charm he casted on her bed had helped. He made sure the she slept until she was as rested as she needed to be. He slid the ham and cheese omelets on to two separate plates. Severus had just placed them on the table when Hermione walked in.
"You should eat. I don't know if you ate yesterday. I heard what happened with Narcissa. Lucius wanted you to be punished but I demanded that you would not have said such things without provocation. Narcissa admitted to having insulted you before you went off on her and He took our side."
"So in other words I can expect one of his 'private' talks next time I'm summoned along with?"
"Yes."
Hermione nodded and sat down, eating without another word. The food in her stomach felt nice, and Severus hadn't skimped on portion size either. The taste of warm fluffy eggs melded well with the sweet honey smoked ham and smoked cheddar. The spices in it helped too. Salt and pepper of course but she tasted a slight hint of garlic, some rosemary and thyme, and just a dash of paprika. She couldn't help but moan. It was just too tasty.
"Glad to hear you approve," Severus said with a slight smirk, "I think you'd also to be interested to know the post arrived. One letter for you solely and one addressed to both of us."
"What of the one to us?" Hermione asked, knowing he had opened it.
Severus grabbed the evelopes from his inner pocket on his jacket, tossed one towards Hermione and unfolded the other and began reading:
"Mr. And Mrs. Severus Snape
We would like to congratulate you on the conception of your child. Because of this, you have officially made up for one of the lost lives. You will have 6 months after this child is born to begin trying for another to compensate for the second life lost. We bid you well and good luck on your quest to parenting.
Mathilda Smith, Head of Magical Healthcare."
"Since I lost twins, that makes sense. Though I still hate that they are trying to control me."
"Well, chances are by then, things will be different," Severus pointed out. He was definitely going to make sure that she wasn't forced to have another child before she was ready.
"I suppose," Hermione said as she reached for her enveloped. It was from McGonagall, meaning it probably held the results of the auditions. She didn't want to look yet and so Hermione kept eating.
Severus grabbed the empty plate right after she set her fork down and she was left to stare at the envelope. She did well with her audition, she knew that much. But the new distaste McGonagall had shown for her former favorite. Finally she reached over and opened it.
Mrs. Hermione Snape,
I am pleased to inform you that you have been cast for the role of Christine in the upcoming school musical of The Phantom of the Opera. Rehearsals will start on Wednesday at 8 am sharp. They will run until 5 pm everyday. The performance will take place on the first day of school.
I wish you well and expect to see you then,
Sincerely Head Mistress of Howarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry,
Minvera McGonagall
She couldn't believe it. She had gotten the lead role. The role of the character she wanted more than anything.
She was distracted by a knock at the door. Since Severus was doing dishes, she got up and went to answer the door.
The door opened to a ginger she didn't expect to see for a million years.
"Hey 'Mione."
"Hello Ron."
